Ralph smiles as he activates his ring of invisibility, then looks up at the scrying sensor Exiel had warned him about. He moves a little to the right to see if the sensor tracks his movements, then tries to identify the spell that the sensor is for.

The sensor seems to stay above Ralph, but moves to keep the entire party in view. It looks to be a scrying spell.

If it was scrying per the scrying spell, one of us should have gotten a save?

Ralph moves towards the exit of the room. If the sensor follows him, he will lead the sensor out of the room and observe.

If the sensor does not follow him automatically, he will use his wand of silent image to make an illusion of himself, and direct the illusion so that it overlaps over the sensor and completely obscures its view.

Then Ralph continues to observe what the sensor does.

Bonekeep Slides

The adventure doesn't mention anything about a save. I'm not certain what spell is involved, since it doesn't call it out. After a moment of studying the effect, Ralph can discern that the spell seems to be tied to the money pouch given to you by the Way of the Kirin tengu.

Ah, I think that's the answer. The sensor was tied to the pouch rather than any of us specifically.

Ralph replies to Exiel in Kelish.
"Yes, our friends from the Way of the Kirin have been watching us. You might get a commendation for the way you handled the negotiation with Leonardo back there. No matter, we should return out attention to the room before us."

"Three magic auras to the North-East in the room," Ralph says as he moves closer under cover of his invisibility, but only close enough so that he can see what the auras are coming from. He also concentrates to discern the school of magic that each aura belongs to, and does the same if any new auras are detected.

I'll just take 10 on any relevant knowledge or spellcraft checks, 10+27=37 for knowledge arcana and 10+22=32 for spellcraft.

One appears to be a strong abduration aura, one moderate evocation and one moderate abduration AND evocation aura.

As Ralph floats invisibly into the room, he can feel a palpable energy in the air, as the hairs on his head and arms rise into the air and the smell of ozone permeates the room.

Realising the significance of the increase in static and ozone in the room, Ralph quickly withdraws to outside of the room before dismissing his invisibility.

"Tch... there's something about that room," Ralph observes in a harsh tone. "Something electricity-related. Lavode, now might be an excellent time to ward us against electricity."

Try as she might, Nienna can find no effects that seem to be causing the lightning.

A small bedraggled elemental appears, listening intently to Lavode, then puffs out an airy sigh and slides into the room. It darts, pausing slightly in midair, then flows down to the items Ralph indicated. No sooner has it paused over the items and barely touched them, then the room explodes into light and electricity! Two bolts of thick lightning explode from the tapestries and strike the small elemental, boiling it away to nothing in a flash. The two lightnings resolve into vaguely serpentine shapes that float in the air, hissing and spitting sparks!

Not my best roll, but I think I know the answers to my usual questions anyway. Elemental traits (so no sneak attacks or crits), best save is probably reflex, immune to electric damage.

Questions:
1. Do they have evasion?
2. Special senses (darkvision, see through fogs etc)
3. Lower fort save or will save?

Thanks Nienna.

As Exiel completes his spell, he slides back to where Nienna stood a moment before and levels his hooked lance in the direction of the doorway.

No sense fighting both at the same time. And if they're stuck squeezing in the doorway, they take penalties to AC and attack rolls too.

Unfortunate in that there is something we need in there. However, the suggestion could cause one to back off so we don't have to fight both at the same time. Exiel didn't roll for you guys, so you probably should roll it now. It was 1d10+9. Lavode's protection spell will absorb up to 120 points of electric damage.

Ralph begins to back out away from the elementals, then reconsiders when he sees Alden standing his ground.

Forcing them into a squeezing position was not a bad idea. -4 attack rolls and -4 AC. But since one of them is now withdrawing we should probably gang up on the other one instead.

And I also want the items in the room.

Seeing that one of the elementals is withdrawing, Ralph decides not to throw a fireball into the room. He is also worried about damaging the crown by accident. Instead, he conjures a thick cloud over the doorway to obscure the vision of the long-reached elementals before moving back.

cast defensively: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (10) + 19 = 29 (Success)

Ok everybody read this:
1. The fog cloud grants partial concealment (20% miss chance) at 5ft and full concealment (50% miss chance and cannot see target) at 10ft or more. This negates the elemental's reach advantage so 42 and Exiel can walk into melee without taking an attack of opp., but everyone will suffer a 20% miss chance. Exiel, no reach attacks for you, so drop the hooked lance.
2. Nienna can see through fogs, so she has 0 miss chance and will be hitting the elemental's flat-footed AC. Still no sneak attack, but she should hit with almost every shot. I'm quite sure lightning elementals get most of their AC from high DEX.
3. No more targeted spells for now. If Lavode wants to try another suggestion next round, I can dismiss the fog, but it looks like the elementals will attack us for sure if we try to take the items in the room anyway, so we might as well kill them one by one.
4. The retreating elemental can't see anything that might give it a second save.

I think Lavode and I would rather get the rest of the magic items in there as well. Three magic items and a quest objective guarded by 2 huge elementals, sounds like we'll miss out on alot of loot if we just bypass the room.

In Round 2 (7 images, roll a 1 to hit):

Seeing that things have not unfolded as he'd hoped, Exiel decides to adapt to the new situation. He drops his hooked lance, steps up beside Alden and pulls out one of the frog-men's spears that he'd picked up earlier. He readies an action to stab any air elemental that decides to emerge from the fog.

The party pauses as Ralph casts his fog, obscuring the room. Lavode's spell seems to affect one of the elementals, while Alden assumes a more defensive stance to keep the slams of the elementals safely away. 42 activates his ring and begins to blink in and out of phase.

9 Lavode and Ralph

Exiel readies himself to stab an elemental! Nienna is up, then the elementals!

The presence of the fog cloud aids Nienna's shots, allowing her to hit the momentarily confused elemental with her clustered shots!

The suggestible elemental moves away from the door, settling near the crown to wait. The other elemental slides five feet closer, seeing Alden and attacking him!
