Posting to all my games as this MAY be very relevant in the future: My corporate network is applying selective restrictions to certain sites, regardless of the connection used.
For these past days, my connection to paizo was refused, today it is working again. While I often do my posts from home, what this means is that at times where I'm travelling to HQ or another department, which happens regulary, I'll be dependent on the system allowing me access.
Those last 3 days, I've been locked out of Paizo by my cache administration.
I will look into ways to "fix" this, but for now, whenever I am travelling, I may or may not be able to log in -_-
(and my phone is company-issued using the same restrictions...so no luck there).
Well that's a bear.

God! I hate every version of Windows since 7ish.
My other desktop (which I need to transfer files to because my primary is having power supply issues) was running like crap because Microsoft was strong-arming it into an upgrade. Funny how I get more ads for Microsoft products since the upgrade.....
Today everything is fine--except for me having to reset some defaults and try to eliminate some programs and icons I am never going to use.
I can hardly wait for them to release a lick-pad version of the software (we've got sight, sound, and touch--why not taste) to load on to my desktop because the suck-pad version--well, sucks!
End rant... for now.

That forced upgrade stuff blows. I bought a Mac back in 2011 as a curiosity and have been satisfied with it. I still used my Windows machine for games, but I'm more of a console gamer anyway. I eventually retired my Windows Game Behemoth because it was too noisy. This was right before Windows 8 launched, as well.
Turns out if you pay a lot more and sacrifice PC gaming you get a lot less nagware. At least until your job's payday website ONLY works on IE8 for some godforsaken reason.

Yeah, I've thought about Apple but that whole "Where's my bent paperclip I need to eject my disc" thing from elementary school has left some deep emotional scars.
It's beaten for now. My next battlefront will be trying to get my 16 bit (17 year old) DC Heroes' RPG character generator to run on my 64 bit system.
I can either pay $100 for the marginal upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, or jump through about a day's worth of hoops and 3rd party software to maybe get it to work.
Numalar Auritonius |
I use Oracle Virtual Machine to run 16-bit stuff like Lotus Ami Pro. It's free and I have been pretty happy with it. I installed it in windows 8 and it still works under windows 10. The only thing is you also need an install disc of the windows edition you are using (in my case windows XP). Had to download it.
Poshment Underhill |
When finally getting a legal key for Windows 7 I have downloaded a program to block the forced windows 10 upgrade...I say forced because even though they say it's "optional" it has been upgraded without people allowing it.
This happened to my dad's laptop and various friends of mine.
Numalar Auritonius |
The thing with the "forced" conversion to windows 10 is that the "reminders" are basically nagware, and you get used to clicking to get rid of them and eventually you are tricked into click the wrong button.
I don't think the upgrade is free any more though, which means you don't have to worry so much.
RPGGGM |
There was a new new upgrade Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. Every half hour: Do you want to uprade now? Now? Now? How about now? And the it just did it when I wasn't looking while I was typing in the middle of a 537 page Word file. Somewhere.
However now my mouse and keyboard which I was about to replace because they suddenly sucked these last three days are working again. Makes wonder if Microsoft is in with the mob the way they strong-arm you.
Still I like how the system gives you so much choice... in wallpaper settings.

Only got it recently but it was still telling me to upgrade so i installed the program to tell it to bugger off.

Erastil...he's everywhere. A real pain that he is probably watching me very closely... Posh is lost in thought as he looks at the symbols on the walls and the pool now appearing to clean up.
"All I can tell is that this temple is to Erastil, but I don't know why the pool suddenly cleared. Maybe Numalar is right and the curse is lifted? For all I know, it's a trap and we'll become like that bear if we aren't a follower..." he states his suspecion openly, not sure what to think about what's going on here.Good thing we're not at a table. I have a terrible poker-face and have some player-knowledge too.
Don't feel too bad about not knowing more (in character that is) about the bear. There is a character similar to it much later in the AP that can shed more light on it. My other players got most of the story but didn't find the hidden passage before in time to prevent a party of kobolds (think of We Be Goblins!) found and looted the dungeon in a one-off side game we played.
If you are ever interested in such a game lemme know and I'll post the pregen kobolds. They were a fun campaign break.
Ah what the hell, Here they are:
Chatchit - Apostle of Ilthuliak (cleric)
Clatterscale XI - the Merc (fighter)
Juddee of Pitax and her dog Sir Socko (bard)
Kahblam - the Sniper (gunslinger)
Nakkard - the Old Timer (rogue)
Snakskink - the Beast-keeper and his giant frog Barrog (druid)
Tailzmak - the Ex-slave Pit-fighter (fighter)
Vexset - Chosen of Dahak (sorcerer)
Note: Any eerie similarities to other characters living or dead that you know is strictly coincidental. These characters were all made before I joined the game.

FYI I am heading out of town in a few hours and won't be back until Monday night. I doubt there is internet access where I am going, so I probably won't be able to post for the next few days.

I forgot or never caught it...are we levelling by fiat or xp track?
If the later, I was wondering how far along we are...it feels like we did a lot of stuff since we got level 2. Maybe my feeling is off, but I got some busy time at work coming up during the next 2 months, so if we're getting close, I'd like to pre-consider my options(I usually plan characters out extensively, but Alia was kind of left open to grow organic/dynamically.)
Thats positive thinking-assuming based on not getting dissolved by what passes for stomach acid of these cubes or anything else nasty around here.
RPGGGM |
We're close. In general it's about 13 encounters of a CR equal to your level to advance a level and while there have been some tough encounters since you advanced (hunting Rain through the market, the fight at the Poacher's Paradise and the Bear, to name a few) you're not quite there yet. If you complete the current dungeon, depending on how/what you do in it you will either be there or a hair away from 3rd level.

Funny story, me and my group are playing the model: Dragon's Dogma with characters allowed by homebrew, but to gain certs for PFS characters so we get to experience the entire story and at one point this dwarf was chatting up a Kobold, but she wasn't interested despite his wanting to take her for a date and feed her chicken and I chimed in with

I finally updated herolab and all the backstory stuff is VERY interesting...I'm assuming there's no chance you'll allow me or other characters to add in backstory stuff to gain access to feats, traits (and drawbacks I'm considering for Posh, due to his...colourful past) due to being this late into the adventure of course.
Which reminds me...I've been meaning to add more with Posh's background...

I suppose there's also some parts open about my backstory...though I have to say I have a pretty accurate idea, I just need to run it by GM first to get an ok.

That's also why I LOVE this game! Also I just found all it really has added is an extra Trait (Charming) and a Drawback (Hedonist) which fits him perfectly, though I'll wait for the GM to say yay or nay. They're minor changes, but I can understand if he says no.

I'm fine with drawbacks and additional traits but hold off adding them until we level up. I don't have too much trouble with Charming though I'm gonna force you to play it if you take it. Hedonist is fine as well.

I'm pretty certain with Posh chasing any woman he's found so far that would certainly be evident he's been charming his way with women for sometime. This includes getting to know Akate Thrice-damned, flirting with Naleksa (before he knew he could spend coin...) and more! Although he has been avoiding intimacy with one or two people. Either due to not knowing them too well or suspicious of them in regards to Raven.

I've gotten the idea down, but I've been adding to it in my head. I'll note it down and send it to the GM though to see what he thinks as it won't change the story besides possibly give the GM more toys to play with...as a GM would understand the term *grins*

Already got one request to GM open right now. No good wearing them out ;) And no hurry, all of a sudden, either.
I'll wait until my current topic is dealt with before bringing up a revised character background with him...which, as you say, ultimately ends up providing toys, reasons, or replacements.
Neither of those needs to be inmediately addressed, and, as a matter of fact, Alia would go to great lenghts to keep it hidden especially from those she trusts(somewhat in-line with how she acted so far(e.g. giving a fake last-name to Renault)).
As such, it's also not very likely to come up in-game soon, unless an unfortunate fate should befall Alia.

I'm sure Roger Ailes thought he was being charming too. I'm not going to argue your choice in trait or presentation but I would point out that hitting on folks is not the only (nor probably the best) way to charm them. For my part, I find confidence, humor, empathy, and modesty to be some of the most charming traits person can have. Being cute, smiling, dimples, and breasts help too of course. ;)

Was going to read into that person, but once I saw he was a CEO for Fox I think all the pieces fell into place :p
Posh certainly wouldn't touch anyone without permission though and I have role-played doing a few jokes or entertaining a few girls in an attempt to charm and humour a few but so far it's not gotten him too far. Especially with the martial artist back at the fair group who didn't seem interested in Posh at all, but he still tried to go through the styles, if terribly.
I wish I had known these things when I was younger, might've gotten a girlfriend at an earlier age or avoided my ex all together :p.

So along with this...Alia, Posh and Zokon appear to lie quite openly...so half the team is dishonest! This will be VERY interesting with later developments :D
Really can't wait to see what happens, but hell, maybe more of these fears won't be revealed until part 2 or even part 4? Who knows! I only have player knowledge for the entire campaign, but the GM has been VERY good at keeping me on my toes.
I wish I could say soooo much more on that topic, but I don't want to ruin the magic for you all but needless to say, he's put in a hell of a hard time working on this.
Alia of the Blade |
Withholding information and only saying those parts which ARE true works in her favor, too. No need to make up lies, or remember a complicated network of half-truths. ^_^
Not even milking it for drama, just going with continuity so she does not need to alter her personality from before.

This reminds me too much of my discussing with my IRL group a few weeks ago where my rogue bluffed the Inquisitor of Torag that she is now a follower of Torag and when he refrained from telling the Baron a certain critical item we discovered she grilled him later about how the power of law, justice and truth allows him to omit what we learnt and effectively hide it from our employer. It just ended with her nodding going "Oh, I see. Lying to protect people. I understand" *wink*
Though to be fair my character has been the laughing stock at the table as my dice roll terribly so I am the worst rogue in history, unable to find traps PREVIOUSLY DISCOVERED nor disarm them...but in our first dungeon I unlocked many doors...that we had the keys to all along...

Let me know who has what from the Gelatinous Cube Encounter (a masterwork heavy mace and three jars the contents of which were deduced).
Alia of the Blade |
No use for the mace. I can take the pet cube. They DO make for prime waste disposal facilities, later on.
In fact, we should use it to clean up our campsites to make us less-trackable. E.g. campfire, bones(from meals), other forms of waste or garbage? It can all go in there and it will happily dissolve it.
The mobile toilet was kind of a joke, but technically, it's a mobile garbage chute.

Zokon will take the Masterwork Heavy Mace for the moment and he will gladly hand it over for selling later if no one else wants it.

I think Posh wanted the pet cube too. The idea being if we run into a really difficult enemy that we hurl the jar at it, covering him in what first appears to be inert slime before it comes to life. Or maybe we should see if we can train it? Afterall, Posh appeared to have tamed a group of mushrooms and that works out well...sorta...
Alia of the Blade |
Sure, I could also try and get Vega and the Gelatinous Cube to crossbreed.
A gelatinous cat...or simple a good old furry beast that paralyzes you when you try to pet it.
@cube, well, technically we could hurl it. But as a environmentalist, I HAVE to consider the theoretical impact it could make by reducing waste once we build a city...we should feed them, multiply them and use them for waste disposal throughout the empire. They are mindless, so it's not ooze abuse to keep them locked in a garbage chute all their life.

Otyughs usually suit that purpose as I've found in certain paizo adventures considering they're smart enough to talk common AND they eat only organic material that flushes through the sewers.
Zokon Santyev |
Are you 40+ Posh.. if not Shhh.. old people present in this game...
Alia of the Blade |
Otyughs, as far as I know, also try and eat organic material that visits the sewers, for whatever reason...
Also, if they EAT it, that means they also produce waste.
The cubes would simply dissolve it and grow. If we can breed one that smells like lemon-y freshness, that would be awesome.
Also, as said: mindless...if they become too large, simply kill it and replace with a new, smaller one. It's not cruelty, they are basically like dangerous furniture...

I know "You're still a young lad. Got a whole life ahead of you..." but I've always felt more comfortable talking with people who have more life experience than myself. Afterall, age is just a number :D
And at times I often act like it's been divided :D

Hmm...lemon-fresh jelly. I'm not a fan of jelly but that sounds delicious! I'm making some jelly candy though for Halloween so that'll be interesting.
Hmm...well the problem with the creatures being mindless jelly creatures is they could escape and cause a problem as I don't think bars could stop them. The same could be said for Otyughs, but if they were trained then they'd avoid attacking people who wore certain identification (like a uniform) such as maintenance workers and/or heroes hired to clear out something else that has taken up residence.
This is certainly something fun to think about in regards to how the city would be build and the most efficient way in cleaning things up. I'm sure no matter what way we slice it, fey would be unhappy with any kind of building in this land.
