She pauses to listen to the sounds of Harrowstone, letting Narcissa fly around the room to keep an eye on things.

Everything continues to be still in this area. Narcissa catches the occasional moth that has flown in through the broken wall, no doubt attracted to the lights.

Ioann walks toward Terrance and takes the piton directly from his hand. Taking it with both hands, he aims at the safe and lands a blow.

Str: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Without even looking to see whether the blow went all the way through, the man drops the piton in front of the dwarf and walks back to where he was standing.

Wooo! 20!

The door on the safe pops loose under Ioann's brute strength, though the piton will likely never serve it's proper use again.

Inside numerous legal documents can be found, along with 500 pieces of gold, and a wooden rack that probably held the vials that are now scattered - some broken and oozing a mix of liquids - along the floor of the safe.

OK, so since it seems that at least most of you are in agreement I'll move you along.

You make your way back out of the Warden's office and out past the other smaller offices. After the last person has entered the smaller, square room in which the floating skulls first terrorized you, they appear once again. The badly-burnt faces of shrieking criminals rush out of all of the doors before causing each door to slam violently shut.

Well, that I did not expect. We are eventually going to have to put them to rest.


Ioann's first reaction to the flying skulls is cover his head with his hand. Yet, he quickly regains his usual attitude and starts swining his sword around in vain. Ioann is on the flying heads' tails as they escape and tries to elbow the door down.

Strenght check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Gritting his teeth to endure the pain resulting from his failed attempt to take down the door, Ioann bangs on it a few times with his fists.

Come out you monsters! he yells to the room in general before walking back toward the others.

Ravel, I only agree to tell you this because I think it's stupid the way the AP just expects players to figure all this out on their own, but a haunt siphon is not the way to destroy this haunt according to the AP. However, in theory, it could work and no, it isn't too late to use it - yet. So, new rule. If anyone can make a DC20 roll on a knowledge check that can justifiably provide this type of info, I'll tell you the way to destroy each haunt. Unless, the majority of you would rather just make things trial and error.

Ioann, no when this haunt is triggered, it slams and locks all of the doors in this square area for a time.

Just trying to justify actions with IG information, since we identified the magic items (haunt siphons) but haven't IG figured out what haunts are. And if haunts are considered undead, it would be Knowledge (Religion).

Yeah, but I'm trying to be extra nice and am saying that I'd allow non-religion rolls, too. Like using knowledge (history) could be justified not necessarily by D&D standards but by rational thinking. Not everyone has knowledge (religion) and I chose a higher DC.

Ravel smiles, looking down at Desna's symbol hanging around her neck. "Lucky me." She looks about the room, waiting to see if anyone else recollects anything about the burning faces.


Ioann ignores the others while testing the door every so often to see whether the magic force keeping it shut has waned.

After about a minute, Ioann is able to open the door without problem.

"It is a haunt tied to this spot." she says quietly. "And I mean to destroy it."

Taking out a vial of Holy water she unstoppers it. Walking around the room she chants as she sprinkles the blessed liquid around the perimeter, chanting a litany to Pharasma as she does.

The building begins to rumble slightly as Ingrid sprinkles the holy water about the room. The shrieking of the flying burned heads can be heard once more, but they do not appear again. Finally, the doors of this room begin to change, as if rapidly aging until they are as old and as rotted as the other doors you have seen. The door Ioann has just opened, falls, crashing to the floor.

It appears to have. Terrance mentions while shaking his head.
That is the first time, that I have seen something like that.


Ioann rubs off the rotten wood from his hands on his jacket before stepping out on the balcony. There, he waits for the others, muttering about Indrid's deed.

"So, did you free them, or destroys these souls forever?"

The night is quiet as you step back outside. Soon the sun will be up. As you make your way back into town, you begin to see people moving about starting their day as you are ending yours.

You arrive back at the manor to find Kendra sleeping on a couch, clutching the letter that you left behind.


Ioann straps his quite large sword on his back as they all make their way toward the house. During the short journey, he walks quickly, keeping a good 20' feet ahead of the group. Slumped as he most always his, the others can barely see his face, except for the few times that he turn around to take a look at them. In these briefs moments, the others can see that he is quite tired too and his facial features even more filled with rage and frustation than usual. The later seems only to get worst and worst as they approach the house.

However, upon entering and seeing miss Lorrimor asleep on the couch. The frustration seem to melt away. Looking almost helpless for a moment, Ioann looks at Ravel and Ingrid to see whether one of them would take care of the woman (gently wake her up).

Feels like this night has been going on for days.. good one!
