A slightly steampunked up Rise of the Runelords. I've stayed close to the text for this first part, but plan to move away from it as we progress....

"Sure, he's talking about execution and hard labor now. I've never met a goody two-shoes yet who couldn't resist the temptation to try to turn an evil creature into a follower of his deity. They all think well, she's just never met the right kind of paladin before to show her the light. And that goblin has spent her life kissing up to King Ugly over there; it's a short step to kissing up to the lawman in shining armor. Mark my words if they don't live happily ever after."

"Sounds good to me." Casey checks his gun making sure it's loaded. Then checking the sight wondering if it might be a little off.


Anything come out of my interrogation?


The Goblin looks at Adonia, and speaks again in goblin.

There should be more, patrolling outside. It sounds like all of the others from in here have come down to fight you. There are humans downstairs, they decided when we should burn your town. We just like to burn things.

The intimidate takes a little while, so I'll assume the others look up stairs while you do that alone.

The two sets of stairs lead up to two rickety towers. Both have been used recently as watch towers. One looks to have the remains of a picture-card game. The other has a large jar of some sort of stinking pickles, which has fallen over, and is leaking down the stairs. The goblins from up here have all come down and been fought already.

"Looks to me we killed 'em all." He comments as he gnaws on his toothpick with a bit more business. "Looks like downstairs to me." As he turns and heads back down.

"Or we could finish the game," Jerjia says, her eyes gleaming as she sees the cards. "And eat pickles."

"When are the patrols due back? "

Then he will manacle the goblin to something immobile and stand guard watching both the entrance and the way down stairs. When the others get back he says:

"It seems that there are some humans downstairs. Someone sneaky might want to take a look first."

The Goblin laughs hysterically, stopping after a minute or so enough to speak.

"You haven't dealt with many Goblins, have you Two-Legs? They could e minutes, they could be hours, they could have fallen off the cliff chasing birds, and never come back."


Wits laughs at the goblin's insight. "Indeed. So, which of us is stealthy? I have a modicum of talent in that area, but I am by no means expert."

Reynard chuckles at Casey's statement before replacing the bolt clip on his crossbow and dropping into s stealthy crouch moving towards the front.

Casey stares at the lawman, stares at Jerjia, and without a single expression upon his face, checks his gun and readies to move out. Best not to say anything. Just safer.


Wits looks intrigued for a moment, then shakes his head. "I believe the offspring would be unable to reproduce, which is a pity because their small size yet complete lack of stealth would be an intriguing trait to study."


So everyone is agreed on the heading down stairs plan?

Reynard:
A single lantern hangs from a hook on the wall next to where the stairs enter this room from the north. Several rickety doors open into this room, and a few discarded dog pelt rugs lie forgotten in the northeast corner

Stood in the doorway at the bottom of the stairs, there are three doors in front of you, one each to the left and right, and one in the same wall you are looking "out of".....

This has obviously been used as some sort of feasting hall for the goblins at some point, small bones litter the corners. But it's been cleared out somewhat recently.

Although this area looks like it's regularly used, it is all quiet now, you can't hear anything at all.

Reynard tries the door, weapon ready.


Reynard:
The door leads into a short, dark, damp tunnel. 5ft further down, there is another door that hangs open to what could be a storeroom. Or a cave. It is difficult to tell as there are no torches in here. The walls do look more cavish, than constructed though. The soft surush of the sea can be heard through the cave system, and a small amount of light filters through from somewhere.

Everyone else:
A few minutes pass, but Reynard doesn't return...

Goblins pass this way on a daily basis, but almost never through any door other than the one you have open. Humans pass through the others though. Quite often.

"Well let's go bring them to justice." Adonai exclaims as he re-equips his shield.

Casey looks at him with a raised eyebrow. "Justice? Dang, lawman. Let's try to kill 'em before they give up. A lot less to keep up with." Casey surmises as he checks his gun again, making sure it's still loaded.


"Jealous?" the paladin quips to the gnome. "I got her manacled to the banister over there. If she can get out of that, I guess we'll just have to take care of her again."

Then to the gunslinger.

"Aroden's justice. And if I may recall, there was a lot of b@~!%in' and moanin' when I was going to bring that," he points to the warchanter. "to meet him."

"Semantics are the soul of the law, paladin. Don't they teach you that in your Paladin school?" Wits checks the manacles on the goblin warchanter, just to ensure that she will not be getting loose. In a fit of mercy he retrieves the pickles from the table and sets them close to the shackled goblin. "Wouldn't do to have you die from hunger."

"Alright, let us see what fresh hell the goblins have conceived in the depths of this place, shall we?"


"Down here, I am the law. And I take no joy from administering this type of justice. But be that as it may, let's kill these fiends before they kill us. Or give up." He winks at Casey.

Casey looks at the open door, chewing on the toothpick a bit more aggresively, as if it helps him think. "Well, we goin' through the left one?" He asks as he looks to Reynard.
