A slightly steampunked up Rise of the Runelords. I've stayed close to the text for this first part, but plan to move away from it as we progress....

"Great smelting ores! Good show, gentlemen! I say, small priestess, perhaps it would be best for you to surrender? I mean, we have no particular need to kill you and I for one, would very much like to discuss the nature of your catacombs here. If you agree to surrender yourself into our care, we will not harm you further. What do you say?"

If she doesn't surrender, I'll fire my crossbow at her.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

I think I just evened out those double 20s.

@Wits: She is last on the initiative, so do you want to delay until she acts, or consider the attack in your next round?
@Dean: Have a proper action, you should have been able to see the creature for this round, so it's not right for you to just do nothing....

Luc's bolt hits the creature, but it doesn't seem to do much damage. Reynard's hit affects it more, but still doesn't seem to damage it as much as you would expect.

Emanual...

How deep is the water. I'll decide my next action based on it.

Basically, can I just stand up or do I have to swim out?

That's some pretty hardcore DR to shrug off a 24pt hit. Wow.

Well, technically you are in combat, and would get an AOO against you for either of those actions...

Reynard Varvanyuk wrote:

I'll post up her stats on Obsidian Portal after the combat, but yeah, she's *stupidly* hard to kill. The saving grace is she does almost no damage....

Wits will hold until after she replies.

Sir Herbert Atkins wrote:

Touché

Emmanual will stand and try to grapple with the invisible creature once again.

Grapple 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Rollin' high 1d100 ⇒ 95

Male Human (Varisian) Inquisitor 2

Dean takes advantage of the imp's appearance to attempt to slow her down a little. casting daze Will DC 13

M Half-Elf Rogue 2

I REALLY hate to bring this up, but unless there is some kinda house rule I don't know of, heavy crossbows are only x2 on a crit.

Also, Raynard, your character is still level 1. Should be level 2 by now. Again, if it's just somethin I've missed in either case, well...then nevermind. :)

Luc Dantes aka Javell wrote:

I'd actually mis-read the post, and missed one of the rolls, so he hasn't managed to sneak anything past, this time. ;)

Luc Dantes aka Javell wrote:

This is correct...

Iron Chef Manny Stokes wrote:

Grapple 1d20+6
Rollin' high 1d100

As Emmanual stands, the quasit snaps at him (causing 1 point of damage), but despite her squirming, he catches her in a vice like grip.

That doesn't last long though, as she wriggles free, and promptly vanishes again...

She got an AOO for your standing up, then didn't get onewhen you grappeled, so you were successful. Then she succeeded her check to break free, and so vanished again.....Next round!

Male Human Ranger 2

Hmm.. looks like I'm the one who missed something. Will make the necessary adjustments.

M Half-Elf Rogue 2

"We are wasting are time fighting this thing. Is there a purpose to being in here? If so let us be done with it and on our way. THIS CREATURE IS NO MORE THAN A PETTY ANNOYANCE!" He says loud enough to make sure the imp hears as he puts his crossbow up, "COME AND FACE LUC, SMALL, TINY, IRRITATING LITTLE BUG! HERE I AM, LOOK AT ME, I HAVE NO WEAPON." He finishes by raising his hands in the air with his palms facing inward and motioning for the creature to come get him.

Ok, anyone want to do anything, or just Luc's taunting? (delaying is an option, as is readying an action....)

Luc Dantes aka Javell wrote:

"I think you may be right. I'm wet and uncomfortable now. My flour is all gooey. Screw this." A dripping wet Emanuel steps out of the pool and goes to pick up the great sword that he dropped.

Male Human Ranger 2

Reynard waits for the first sign of activity to fire.

Made her will save against the daze, I suppose? Not that it's hard to save against a cantrip. For all I know, she has spell resistance, too.

Dean curses as the tiny pest vanishes and once again begins casting to locate her. round 1 of detect magic; can't pinpoint the aura until round 3

Dean:
Bugger, I completely missed that...Grrr

A few moments of silence pass, as the group all wait for the imp to re-appear, Luc's words echo around the chamber, and all of a sudden, she is visible again, a great green wad of something phlegm like flying towards Luc. It hit's him square in the face.

Luc, please make a DC12 Fort save, or be nauseated for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds....

Male Human Ranger 2

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
1d10 ⇒ 4

Male Human (Varisian) Inquisitor 2

Where is she on the map when she becomes visible? Still over the pool?

'Dean' Ninian Beard wrote:

Yes, she moved up, rather than away.

"I ask for your surrender politely. Please remember that."

Attack with the crossbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Emanuel will double move up the stairs and look over the balcony.

Is he level with the creature?

M Half-Elf Rogue 2

Fort: 1d20 ⇒ 10

"Would someone please remind Luc next time, that insulting a tiny demon gets a huge wad of snot blown in your face. Oh, and also makes you feel like you want to vomit." He says as best he can as he attempts to keep himself from losing his lunch.

Reynards shot goes wide, while Witz's hits the beast, although she shrugs off the wound with hardly a flinch.

@Emanual, yes would you like a standard action to go with that move?

@Dean Would you like to act?

Male Human (Varisian) Inquisitor 2

I don't know how many bolts Dean has left. Hopefully there's a few.

Abandoning his spell, Dean raises his crossbow and fires. Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Double natural ones! Yay! :P

Male Human Ranger 2

Reynard draws a dagger in annoyance. "#&$%&# THIS!" pricking his finger with the point 1pt damage he flicks the blood into the pool and steps back, crossbow raised, eyes darting back and forth between the pool and the air to see what unfolds.

Manny draws his heavy crossbow as he reaches eye level with the beastie and fires.

Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage 1d10 ⇒ 2

As the well surges into violent action again, the final two bolts also fly wide of the mark.

"Ohhh, you didn't want to do that!" the little imp squeals, before beginning to chant again.

Next round...Although Reynard just took his action ;)

M Half-Elf Rogue 2

Luc decides to feel sick at this time.

Yay! I'm throwing up all over the place! Hey DM, can I make that a ranged touch attack on the imp? You know, just to return the favor? ;)

Luc Dantes aka Javell wrote:

Unfortunately not, unless you become some sort of half demon with such powers....

Male Human (Varisian) Inquisitor 2

"Fellows, why are we wasting our time here?" Dean asks. "Can't we go back out and block the doors? Come back with a net or something that will do more good than just trying to impale this beastie?"

So, what's the plan?

"As much as I'd like to study that water, I say we leave. No sense in playing tag with the damnable imp if we don't have to!"

M Half-Elf Rogue 2

"I must say, I'm in total agreement with Wits. Let us take our leave."

As you all make your way to the doors, the liquid in the well continue to froth. The door is opened a crack, and you each sneak through, being careful not to let the quasit out. As Reynard closes the door, he sees another spawn rising from the well, and you all hear the hideous cackle of the quasit...

The door slams shut, and you are left in the ante-chamber....

M Half-Elf Rogue 2

"You know, as much as I hate that room and the fact that we were beating a dead horse, why does a cackling demon creature give me the feeling that we're gonna regret leaving?" He says with a worried tone. "Oh, one other question I have. What came of your blood being dropped in the pool, Reynard? Did any of you see what happened?"

Ok folks, what's the plan?

"Maybe Luc, Ninian and I should stick around to guard this door so the imp and those creatures don't escape, and Witz and Reynard run back up to get reinforcements as well as something to see the creature. Maybe a net too."

And a chance for Ninian, Luc, and Emmanual to go down in an epic battle while our new characters, the "reinforcements" are gathered by Witz and Reynard and brought back to avenge them.
.
Nevynyxx, are the new classes from the Ultimate Combat available to us?

Iron Chef Manny Stokes wrote:

That would be an evil plan, but yes, could happen.

Iron Chef Manny Stokes wrote:

Someone wants to play a gunslinger? :D Gunslinger, and the associated feats, absolutely. The other two classes, probably not, since they don't really fit the theme. Ninja, if they were to appear, would definitely not be on your side.....But I'm open to being convince otherwise.

I'm also tempted to knock a zero off the cost of the firearms. They should be more common in this game than a bog standard Golarion.

Wouldn't there be a more variety of handguns as well? Revolvers, blunderbusses, etc.

Iron Chef Manny Stokes wrote:

Yes. PCCS p212. Blunderbuss, Musket, Pistol, Revolver, Rifle, Skattergun... I think I'll write them up on obsidian portal.

edit: Firearms stats and costs.....

Cool, thanks. Also, this might be fun for Witz. In my home game, I was going to allow a player to load alchemist bombs into a blunderbuss and use if for cone effect. He decided to go with a different class, but I still think it would be fun.

M Half-Elf Rogue 2

"Alright, mon amis, what is it we are to do now? Do we search elsewhere or do we return, with a better plan of course, and find a way to end this demon?"

Male Human (Varisian) Inquisitor 2

DM, have we been everywhere we're aware of in the dungeon now?

Yes. There is another tunnel fork before the dungeon, but we can safely ignore that for the moment, it just leads to the coast and explains how the goblins got in.

Male Human (Varisian) Inquisitor 2

"Looks like the only place to go is out," Dean says. "Let's go back up to the headmaster of the Academy; maybe he'll be able to tell us how to deal with that little beastie and her nasty pot of summoning." He eyes the stone basin on the dais. "Any chance that can be moved? We could use it to block the door until we get back."

I believe I remember some kind of pedestal or basin in here....

M Half-Elf Rogue 2

"I am thinking we do not need to block the door. If she wanted to leave she would have done it by now. Remember she has her 'friends' she can call to her aid just with a few drops of blood. And Raynard proved it could be anybody's blood. My guess, would be, she does not want to drain herself, so she has probably been waiting for someone to come down here so she can build herself an army." He says as he adjusts his hat. "She is a demon. I do not know much about them but I 'ave never heard of one that dies of old age or starvation."

Male Human (Varisian) Inquisitor 2

"I don't plan to give her time to die of old age or starvation," Dean replies, "but I would like to have some idea where she is when we come back."
