Albert Maxson |
Alberts mutters to himself "Shady... could they be cultists too?" as he prays once again for Heironeus everjust guidance.
Detect Evil on everybody. Detect Evil in ALL things. Detectator they'll call me
"Well met! We are a group of jolly justice champions who happen to have stroll to your time, we'd like to meet the church's head to speak of this region's status." he says, his hand still ready.
Bradley Hodges - OSRIC |
Bradley whispers back to her, [smaller]"I'm just saying, some people may take it the wrong way, when a chair is swung at them in preemptive defense. Can we at least try talking first, ple-
Bradley cuts his reply short when he catches a snippet of conversation outside. He tires to listen intently.
WhtKnt |
Albert Maxson |
Well, crap. I'm giving you guys till tomorrow to interrupt them before Albert does some paladin work. And I mean harsh paladin work... otherwise I can't do much as he does know now for sure that something fishy is here, and Abramo is most probably dead.
"That wouldn't be necessary as we need to see Abramo himself. I will hold responsibility for any grievance or interruption." says the paladin as he has once again to contain himself... but not for long.
Cedric Osric |
Cedric paused to let Albert speak figuring that he would detect evil on these people. He nods in agreement to his request.
Opalia Ceylinian |
Hearing that Opalia shrugs to Bradley with a smile then darts out to follow Albert's voice. She doesn't realise that the chair is still held high as she concentrates on finding him and the rest.
If you want to attack unarmed clerics in their temple - you go right ahead.... I'm guessing they are unarmed.
WhtKnt |
"I'm sorry," the acolyte responds, "But Abramo is very busy and has left orders not to be disturbed."
Albert Maxson |
Albert's expression hardens as he hears the same words again. The paladin turns and steps closer to his companions and sighs "These men are evil, I sensed it. I tried to do it a different way... but they rejected it."
Drawing his bastard sword he points at the acolyte with it "What have you done to Abramo, foul heretics. I demand an answer in the name of Heironeus... or you will answer directly before him."
@Opalia: I totally didn't want to attack clerics, but I do believe they aren't unarmed just hiding their weapons. That said I tried to skip a combat.
WhtKnt |
The acolyte retreats slightly, a pale look on his face. The other men draw their weapons.
Everyone declare your actions and then I will determine initiative.
The acolyte plans to run away, while the other three men intend to attack Albert and company.
WhtKnt |
A weapon may be used to beat down, rather than kill, an opponent. When the player desires, damage inflicted can be composed of half “real” damage and half “subdual” damage that does not kill. Such subdual damage is recovered at a rate of 1 hp per hour.
Cedric Osric |
Cedric's eyes get big and he shakes his head in disbelief when Albert draws his sword. "Ah, yes, now I remember why I didn't want to become a paladin; too quick to solve problems with violence." He starts to step back away from the attackers.
"I'm sure we can solve this without bloodshed. Stay your weapons so we can talk," he says hoping to avoid a fight.
WhtKnt |
Going to go ahead and move things along, even though some have not declared their actions. I'm also going to allow you to alter your actions based on new information.
INITIATIVE
Opalia
Bradley and Bad Guys
Charum and Sonya
Geary and Albert
Cedric
Opalia hoists a chair, preparing to bash the nearest of the foes, but holds her attack, not wanting to strike the first blow. Bradley says a silent prayer as the stand-off continues. The men have their weapons drawn, but one of them steps forward and says, "I am the constable here. Put down your weapons and no harm will come you."
Charum and Sonya are up!
Bradley Init: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Cedric Init: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Geary Init: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Opalia Init: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Charum Init: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Sonya Init: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Bad Guys Init: 1d6 ⇒ 4
WhtKnt |
Not sure what happened to Sonya, but... Albert and Geary are up.
Albert Maxson |
Albert lifts his sword named Justice, and after a quick prayer to Heironeus, brings its flat-side down on the closest armed foe.
Justice is blind, and soon to be served.
Bastard Sword: 1d20 ⇒ 14
So... I got a +2 to hit from Strength and Weapon Specialization, and my damage is 2d6+3
DamageVSMedium: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 3) + 3 = 12
I swear I usually pick up systems easily, but I don't seem to have my way with OSRIC... do I need any other books/pdfs or the basic one is enough?
WhtKnt |
Easiest way I've found to do it is to roll 1d20 and subtract that roll from whatever your roll to hit AC 0 is. That should tell you what AC you hit. In your case, Albert, a paladin at 1st level needs a 20 to hit AC 0, so your attack hits an AC 4 (20 - (14 + 2) = 4).
Albert's blow strikes the man who had spoken solidly, the individual staggering under the power of the attack. He struggles to remain on his feet, but sinks to his knees.
Cedric and Opalia are up!
Cedric Osric |
"Oh great, we are picking a fight with the constable; but he's apparently part of the problem," Cedric thinks while trying to determine what to do. He looks shocked when Albert strikes the constable, but he draws his flail and readies his shield to protect himself. "So much for talking things through," he says quietly.
Bradley Hodges - OSRIC |
Bradley debates taking action in a clearly poorly thought out assault on an authority figure of the township. He looks on to the priestess as he thinks if he will only make this worse. Yet he is still ready to defend himself if someone comes in.
Tough choice, Bradley will take one more delay.
WhtKnt |
Opalia strikes one of the men across the head with the chair (Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6). The man remains standing, but is clearly injured by the assault. The man swings at Opalia, running her through with his longsword (9 damage) and leaving her bleeding on the ground, while his companion tries to hit Albert, but is unable to get past the paladin's armor.
Man #1 vs. Opalia: 17 - 1d20 ⇒ 17 - (20) = -3 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Man #2 vs. Albert: 19 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 - (14) = 5 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
WhtKnt |
Sorry, Charum and Sonya are up, then Geary and Albert.
Charnum |
Charnum call out to his companions."I think we should reconsider our choices right about now"
He uses his sling on the nearest man.
attack roll: 1d20 ⇒ 3
I don't have my thac0 written down and I can't access the Rulebook at the moment. DM, do you know what it is? If not I'll look it up later.
WhtKnt |
Your THAC0 should be a 20 (everyone's should, at this level), but the 3 definitely misses.
Geary and Albert are up!
Albert Maxson |
Albert, who has the utmost trust in his judgement and Heironeus' guidance, redoubles the attack (even if non-lethal) on the man.
"Trust me! They are evil men who hath lieth to us! Only Heironeus knows what have they been up to!"
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 12
20 - (1d20 +2) = 6.
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4) + 3 = 9
Geary the Grifter |
Geary will dart out of the shadows and kneel by Opalia, a look of blame towards Albert.
I tried looking up healing in the rules but did not find anything about helping someone non-magically stabilize from a wound. If there is such a rule, Geary will be trying to do that.
WhtKnt |
You can auto-stabilize. Everyone is assumed to know basic first-aid.
Cedric and Bradley may make their moves.
Cedric Osric |
Cedric gasps when Opalia is struck down. Without thinking, he steps up and swings at her attacker but misses badly.
THAC0: 20 - 1d20 ⇒ 20 - (4) = 16
Bradley Hodges - OSRIC |
Bradley hears a body drop and the faint sound of woman gasping for breath. Fearing the worst he decides to step out and attack. Seeing Geary helping Opalia, he moves to defend them. He strikes with his peace bound bastard sword, against her blood soaked attacker.
Due to double weapon specialization, Bradley will be doing two attacks the following round.
B.Sword: 20 - 1d20 - 4 ⇒ 20 - (19) - 4 = -3
Was there a penalty for non lethal damage? Still think I hit though.
DMG: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4) + 4 = 12
WhtKnt |
Oh yeah, you hit.
For non-lethal damage, weapon does half real and half subdual damage.
Cedric swings at the man who downed Opalia, but misses. Bradley connects with him, eliciting a grunt of pain, but not bringing him down.
The man retaliates against Bradley, slamming his blade into the fighter and sending him to the ground, bleeding out (Bradley takes 9 damage!). The other man attempts to hit Albert again, but is still unsuccessful!
Charum is up!
Man #1 vs. Bradley: 17 - 1d20 ⇒ 17 - (17) = 0 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Man #2 vs. Albert: 19 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 - (7) = 12 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
WhtKnt |
Well, to be fair, you guys kind of rushed things. But fear not, they have reasons to want you alive, and the battle isn't over yet.
Albert Maxson |
Fear not, Lady Opalia, for he Who Hath Been Blesseth cannot be harmed by those who consort with evil until justice hath been serveth
By the way, I think you forgot to add the effects of Albert's last attack or lack of. At least in the descriptions
WhtKnt |
You're right, I did overlook it. Will not change the outcome, though; the man is still up and mobile, just a little less healthy.
WhtKnt |
Charum's attack misses, the sling stone dropping from its cradle before he can sling it.
Geary and Albert are up!
