Its your go. They didn't see you coming (busy looting) so I gave you a free action.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Just for clarity sake(because I'll forget if I don't make a way to remind myself), Thordak's actually at 5 rounds of rage instead of 4.

Aurora, I don't know for sure. Can you 'run' with wings? Can you 'run' under a spell? I would think wings = yes, spell = no; but do we want to get that detailed? Flying is a potential game-breaker, that's why the skill and rolls were put in place. I don't have a problem setting ourselves up for the future of the game with regards to Flying. Discuss...

Tomaru, how many people can you 'port?

OGGM, any chance I could score a scroll of Dimension door in Sandpoint? I get the feeling it might be good for me to be able to back Tomaru up for short-range jaunts as well as long-range travel...

Right now???

Probably not, it would have to come from Magnimar.

In looking at the messageboards, the general consensus seems to be that you can run when flying if you have wings (the fly spell specifically states no running with the spell, implying other means of flight would allow it).

It's not that unfair to allow winged flight some advantage over magical thought flight, since we winged creatures do run the risk of falling when damaged, stunned, paralysed, or colliding with things.

That, and the act of running on your feet is adding extra effort, so why not allow extra effort in wing-flapping?

Maybe our stragglers could hitch a ride on Old Gusty, if they hustle. ;)

Grand Lodge

They were too far away.

Tomaru's posts are just so long.

Man, that Bit of Luck is awesome! I've seen at low levels and thought it was kind of handy, nothing big.

But it never even occurred to me what it could do at high levels!

Pretty awesome stuff.

Grand Lodge

So far my game plan is working pretty good. Being Thordaks transport delivery service has been fun. But my spell supply is pretty close being tapped out. Soon I might even be forced to attack something.

It's appreciated though. Keeps everything in front of us. I've seen where people pre-build attack strings so they can copy and paste - no re-typing every time. Maybe do the same for your common summons? Save stat blocks and just paste and update as needed?

Well - that bit of info about the ex-people in the sacks kind of put a downer on the rescue. I wonder how many of the big families just had an inheritance turn over?

We probably won't be the heroes of Sandpoint anymore.

Casualties of war and all that.

ooo, that's cold. Not sure who else would be slinging all those fireballs and lightning bolts, though.

So I hope that this isn't making it too heavy. I wanted an epic raid feel, where the stakes are high. There are some really good RP opportunities in this, both now (see Aurora's post on the dead hunter), and in the future. Suffice to say you won't be the heroes of Sandpoint if you don't act like them, and remember you can't please everyone.

Eh, ignore that. I'm not even sure where it came from.

I'll sing like a canarie that folks died on my watch. It's only fair.
But I won't drop the others in it so long as it's unintentional.

I so totally forgot about them.

It's all good stuff, OGGM. My comment was just more of an "oh crap....we are in trouble" and not from the giants so far. We fell into a bit of a "Knights of the Dinner Table" scenario (if you know that reference) as I see it.

Whilst Aurora is mired deep in her angst and unaware she is not the only one who has had a 'friendly fire' incident, as a player I must admit to being slightly relieved as I was feeling very bad about the poor hunter.

At least we can now all feel bad together!

'I waste 'em with my crossbow!' Does that tell you anything?

Good. Good. I've played RPGs with my RL group for 20+ years. I know what they can deal with and what they'd rather avoid. (Side Note: they hated the Graul house as much as you guys did.) But you are a new(ish) bunch for me, plus I can't judge reactions by seeing your faces at the table.

So I wanted to make sure. If there ever comes a time when you are not comfortable with something, do NOT hesitate to tell me either here or via PM.

At this point, Praxim is aware of neither incident. I'll have to think about the paladin's reaction, and whether he'll throw folks under the refuse cart.

Grand Lodge

This is exactly what happened to the Avengers. We are just so unappreciated. I see Praxim and Lym being the leaders of each side.

Seriously, this is really going to put a huge cloud over an epic fight. I'm loving it.

Neither Thor nor Hulk were in the movie.

Don't worry Aurora, you're more like Scarlet Witch. You killed more innocents than anyone else. Even the bad guys.

Aurora has killed one hunter, there were multiple people in the bags that got hit by lightning... :(

Anyway, was more going on the whole 'flying mobile artillery platform' thing ;)

A shame no-one is throwing around enlarge persons so we have Ant/Giant man. That bit in Civil War had me in stitches :D

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Daaaaaaang. A Stone Giant ranger with Greater Two-weapon fighting?! Freaking crap I'm screwed.

Of course, OG rolls a freaking MULTITUDE of 16's while I'm spitting out 6's on my highest rolls. So pathetic.

If we can't drop him before next round, Thordak's toast. And unfortunately, I have a pretty good feeling I only hit once. But I'm not even completely sold on that.

Feel epic enough? I my mind, that was pretty epic and very well-played by all of you. Hopefully this fight lived up to expectations!

It certainly upped the stakes. We are out of the dungeon and cast into war... and we need to improve our tactics.

Grand Lodge

It was indeed EPIC!. The mages unleashed fury and hellfire. I bet Praxim took that dragon to single digits. Thordak got his axe off like a mad dwarf. Tomaru didn't do a single point of damage himself, but his abilities really showed up in a meaningful way. And Kellen was comedic relief. I need good night's rest, but I want to do that again.

The only thing now is the fallout. Aurora's death toll was probably bigger than the giants. It was all Aurora. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Male Human Rogue 7/Fighter 4; HP: 93/104; AC:24/T18/FF24; Fort+9 Ref+10 Will+5; Per +15; Init +3

It was well done, sir! Very interesting the way it turned out and I'm kind of relieved (despite the potential body count) that it looks like the town came away better than expected.

Grrrr dragon got away. Praxim will be wanting to go after him.

Battle was great. First time in 20 years of playing that I wished I had taken Far Shot!

HECK YEAH!!! WHEW that was a nail biter. I was hoping those rolls were high enough but I was a might bit worried.

This was a crazy cool combat. Tomaru's "Teleportation Traveling Service" was freaking awesome. Man that was absolute KEY in this battle.

And if it's one thing I've learned in this combat, it's that Aurora is a BIG TIME blaster for one so small. :)

Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16

Serious question for all of you: was I as useful in the fight as I could have been?

Note to self: get Dimension door or Teleport ASAP and keep studying Dimensional anchor. Teleportation is indeed of critical import, we may need backup service, and we never want the enemy to have it again.

I think everyone played a key part. Certainly Tomaru and his teleport, but his summons kept giants and dragon busy at times. Praxim and Thordak did what they do: deal damage in spades. That dragon is set to burn much of the town, but was stopped well short of doing that by Praxim. And Teraktinus is very very nasty, as Thordak found out, but he put him down quite nicely.

Lym dealt damage, but also had summoned creatures, and created the wall that kept the group from being surrounded at a key moment.

Aurora, our newcomer, went all nuclear on us! And that having never run a higher-level sorceror before!

And Kellen: maybe didn't do a lot of damage, maybe didn't slay many foes, but helped hold down the flank that really was only he and Aurora, and just him after she flew off to help elsewhere. Plus, that bit of crashing into the wall in the face of the dire bear was too much! You can't make that stuff up! The dice gods smiled on us, even though it may not have seemed so to him at the time.

All in all, well done! The fallout will be dependent on how you RP it, as it should be.

Really enjoyed that and definitely a 'fighting a proper battle' feel to it, having to respond to multiple threats quickly and all. Was exciting :)

I was amazed at the sheer damage output each of the party is capable of!

Transport did play a massive role yes, without Tomaru's blinking (and to a lesser extent the majority of the party flying), the enemy would have done tonnes more damage simply due to the fact that there were so many groups to contend with. I don't think we'd have been able to respond in time without that powerful transport magic!

Lym, I'd say you did well, very timely summons and damage support when needed :)

Male Human Rogue 7/Fighter 4; HP: 93/104; AC:24/T18/FF24; Fort+9 Ref+10 Will+5; Per +15; Init +3

Lym - think you did fine. You were tactical damage - hitting where needed at key times vs. Aurora. She was more raw damage (she's like just like the epitome of "big things come in small packages" right now). As others have said, Tomaru's teleportation efforts and the added flight powers for all involved probably was the key to much of this.
And, of course, Praxim and Thordak are the best at what they do. And what they do best is commit mayhem....err I mean slay giants. ;-)

While I am OK with Kellen's less epic role and comedy, I could also ask whether he's being useful in a fight. The combination of not being a specialized class and dual classed means he's not going to be outputting the kind of damage others are. But I do question if I have missed something on damage bonuses along the way. Otherwise, maybe more a matter of feat selection for him at this point.

Kellen's coming off like Steve McQueen's character in the Great Escape. He's got all these plans on how to escape the prison camp, but nothing ever works out like he planned. He just kind of shrugs and plays it out until the next time.
