Guys: I am going to assume that Kellog is also too busy to participate so I'll write both of those PCs out in the next turn and will open up recruitment for two new PCs.

I'm going to let the guys currently playing in Balanders game know about this but let me know if there's anyone that you know that may want to play.

Sorry to hear that Dreithik, I hope things start looking up soon.

Action 3

Staying in one spot for too long made Agia uneasy, and by the second day she wasn't willing to stay cooped up in the lodge any longer. Bidding a good day to her companions, she made the long walk through the tubes back to the city.

She turned down the main road and walked almost to the edge of town before veering off into one of the poor quarters clustered around the warmth of one of the active pipes. Though most such pipes were claimed by noble houses, this one had sprung a leak in ages past and left the ground saturated with an inert fluid that didn't wash off easily. Agia carefully stepped along the walkway of boards laid out as a path above the muck until she reached the particular shanty she looking for.

A short, thick bodied Uxphonian with a prominent pot belly stood in the doorway. "Ho there, young lady. Where's it that you think you're going?"

"I'm here to see the Orsbergian, Mickel. My buisness, no concern of yours."

Mickel snorted in derision. "Ain't no such thing as an Orsbergian, missy. Don't let him fool you, that chap is mutant through and through and I'm a fool for letting him put his shop of horrors up on my second floor. Fancies himself some kind of Aeon Priest, truth protect us. It's a miracle he hasn't blown us all to the Navarene."

"Then kick him out, if it please ya, but I think ya'd be put out when ya have nobody dropping by to jaw at. Now let me pass."

Mickel stepped out of the way and motioned the way to the stairwell with a sarcastic exaggeration of a servants bow. Agia rolled her eyes and hurried up the rickety steps before he could get talking again.

The doorway of Om the Orsbergian held only a beaded curtain, so Agia let herself in. Mickel's antics always tipped him off when someone was coming, so the sage was already sitting cross legged on a cushion with a variety of wares set on a low table in front of him by the time Agia entered the room. He continued inspecting and cleaning his wares as if he hadn't seen her enter, his skeletally thin head swiveling on a neck with an entirely unnatural amount of vertebrae for a human.

"Ya'll got that new shipment in, Om? It best have more than just twinklies this time. That might cut it for the local drek looking to impress their mistresses with shinny trinkets, but I hope my first visit was proof enough that I'm the farthest thing from local. I'm after the true magic, there's times coming up fast where I'll need it."

Agia's looking for interesting oddities and cyphers. Oddities she might buy outright if she can afford it, even if there's no immediate practical use. Since she's at her cypher limit she'll likely barter cypher for cypher if something strikes her fancy.

Action 2

Altha listened to Agia's stories and chuckled, imagining what it would have been like to dig her out of the snow and defrost her only to find the woman spring back to life. It would have spooked her for sure! Chuckling, ”You're like those antifreeze amphibians I've heard about – you can freeze them solid but they'll pop back to life when you thaw them out. At least up here you're a great source of air conditioning on a hot day?” Altha was gently teasing her, grinning as she shuffled the plates around more to access the things she favored.

”Where I'm from, the weather's not so bad. Spent most of my childhood running around the outskirts of Jargolamis and Luigolamis getting into all sorts of trouble. Drove my parents bonkers but I had a way with machines and people so the family business started thriving once they locked me down enough to help out.” She chuckled, remembering the fights and the escapes into the countryside, ”People would come by our shop specifically so they could gawk at the youngster with the Numenera tools chat up some gruff old man with the aplomb of a politician... I didn't realize it at the time but my folks were selling our services on that image. It was alright for the most part... but occasionally we'd get really strange people through.”

She took a sip of her water and bit her lower lip in thought, ”One time some came through who was all cloaked from head to toe, had a sixth finger on one hand a voice like tumbling nails. I remember him – her, I'm still not sure – only because he held out a device about as two fists that was the sleekest, most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. It had a bunch of little buttons on it, seamless plating, and whatever metal it was made from seemed to shimmer like oil on water. On one end was an indentation the rim of which glowed turquoise. He wanted me to assess its value, figure out what it did.” Altha's grin grew at the memory.

“I said of course and he left for a few days to explore the town while I tinkered. I couldn't figure it out on my own so I took it to my father and I'm not sure either of us slept for two days. My mother was so exasperated by the end of it, our dinners were noodles in broth if we were lucky.” Altha shrugged, ”It was worth it, though. In the end, we figured out the right sequence of buttons to activate it. You know what it was? It was a bubble machine... you pressed all these buttons and waited a moment... and then all of a sudden a stream of rainbow-coloured bubbles would waft out, float up high and just pop! When the stranger came back, I was so disappointed that I told him I didn't want to charge him for the service. I'd been hoping for something... else, I have no idea what. He only laughed and took it back. Said there was plenty more out there, that the world was filled with mysteries... beautiful like this one and far more nefarious. I'm pretty sure I begged him not to go at that point. I still haven't seen any other Numenera like it.”

Her story was interrupted by the servants as they brought out the desserts and Altha eagerly sampled the selection. She so rarely enjoyed sweets!

Sorry to hear that Dreithik! I hope things get sorted out for you!

Action 1

As balanders spoke with the old man about whether or not he needed to purchase items from the home’s inventory. He suddenly heard a crash, followed shortly after by giggles and muffled voices. Balanders left the old man with a polite nod, and went to investigate the sound. He rounded the corner into the room just as Altha was helping Agia to her feet. Agia was alternately chuckling at her clumsiness and making furtive glances at one of the animals on the wall. Balanders walked over to Agia and hear her say to Altha "I mean to say, I was looking at some of the fuzzers on the wall and I heard a noise and got jumpy. Might've been a trick of the numenera, but was prolly just someone having a laugh."

Balanders approached the many-horned creature and thought back on his long travels and the creatures he had fought in the gladiator pits. He tried to think of what these beasts were called Remember: Creature Name: 1d20 ⇒ 5

He inspected the head and tried to speculate as to how it had been mounted, Assess/Search: 1d20 ⇒ 4 and then asked the two women, ”What do you think about these heads? Maybe we could take them out back to the storage shed while we are here. I am not one to keep trophies to Death, she haunts all my days already without the help of these dead eyes staring at me while I eat.”
Tag Altha & Agia - take off this head/ other heads from walls? The staff might object. Also sorry to hear we are losing Kellog & Dreithik - Good luck to you both getting through your stuff! Also Fabian - by having the old man refuse Balanders money do you mean that Balanders does not need to pay for the javelins & bag of heavy goods?

Guys, I'll reply to your posts later this evening.

However, we have to switch out two more players (this must a record) so we may slow down just a little bit until the two new PCs come into the story.

We have the players identified, now we need to make the PCs.

My initial thought is to have Dreithik and Kellog leave on their own and for Count Ricci to have sent reinforcements once he finds out about this. The reinforcements have worked with Ricci in the past.

Once you are all together again, we'll let things unfold.

Action 2 - Road Story:

Agia wrote:
"I guess that'd make ya the richest man in the world, when push came to shove, eh? Ya'll could haul half this house, no question… I wish we'd had your likes on the trail, truth be told. It was often that we had to pack up in a hurry and leg it…”

Balanders had been watching his companions as he ate. Food interested him little, but he wondered about what could have brought these two strange women to this place, from so far away. As the clumsy one speculated on the benefits of his strength, his mind wandered far back, to darker times.

After the little one squealed with glee and dug into the sweetened aspic, Balanders cleared his throat and slowly began a tale. ”Little one, I too have know the joys and the hardships of the trail…” As Agia and Altha looked to Balanders to continue, he took a long pause. His eyes fell onto his Charm Bracelet, the last gift he had from his friend Modou. A charm caught his eye that he hadn’t noticed before - A Wagon Wheel.

”Before my enslavement, I was in the employ of one Voss. He was soon to turn traitor and sell his team of guards to these damn Uxphon nobles; but of course, I did not know that then. We were about a fortnight out from Shallamas, The City of Echoes when we first saw the Tithe river. This was during Bloom Time, and the river was fat from the Mountain’s Tears as the Red-One above tired of his White Mountain Mistress and sought to bring back his Green Queen from her slumber.

”The path towards the river was treacherous with mud, and it wasn’t long before one of the wagon wheels sunk in deep. As the animals pulled the overloaded cart, the wheel sunk even deeper. Voss called out the command to stop, his fury at the delay obvious. He began shouting reprimands and threats to his second-in-command before marching off to observe and sulk. We were ordered to unload the wagon, and so we took everything off, crate by crate. With the load lightened, the beast was able to pull the wheel from out the mud. Once we reloaded the wagon, we were moving again… For a time.”

”Our next delay was caused when the lead animal’s leg sunk deep into a mud pit. The resounding crack of his broken bone makes me cringe now to think about. Voss didn’t hesitate, his dagger was hilt-deep in the beast’s neck immediately, stopping him from crying out or suffering from his wound. At the time, I thought Voss was compassionate for slaying the beast so efficiently; now, I suspect Voss knew that the animal no longer held any value for him while alive.”

”Voss had seen me exert my strength on a few occasions, and he approached me with an offer. Double pay and rations for the whole week if I would agree to pull the cart in the place of the beast. He promised that it would only be until we ferried the river and found a stable to buy a new beast. I hesitated to take his offer; but saw the looks on the other guards faces, they wanted to avoid delay and were envious my offer of extra pay. I accepted, and stepped into the harness.

”I pulled the wagon for days. At the end of each day, my body ached through and through. You can see the scars still, on my shoulders and hips, where the straps and supports dug into me. At the end of each day, the men would applaud me, share their food with me, give me their thanks. Voss laughed and praised me too, gave me extra drink. Those were some of the best moments of my life.

”When the other men would fall asleep, Modou would rub a salve he had made from the flowering plants and the valley mud on my wounds. It would cut down the burning enough for me to find a half-sleep. I was grateful of course, when Voss finally purchased a new draft animal. I thought my work had earned me the respect and friendship of my fellows. I even was proud of earning Voss’ respect and praise. But look at me now, I only hastened my friends towards their doom. I worked like a draft animal, and then I was sold like one.”

Yeah, we are in a good spot to just do some character development, I'm happy taking our time here.

"And here I was thinking they were downright homey compared to the rest of the decor. Lends this place a nice mustiness despite the incessant cleaning with that awful scented oil the help insist on keeping up. I suppose the sheer amount of 'em might be a bit much, though...."

Agia gave a hard look to the trophy that had startled her. "and tha' one I could certainly do without. If ya wanna haul 'em, knock yourself out, but I doubt I'd be much help with fuzzers that big. I'd mind the horns too, they look frightful sharp."

You are welcome to read the rest but it won't have much impact on whatever PCs you propose.

Thanks for having me! I'll catch up on the Turns this morning (yay for downtime at work) and will make my character proposal in the afternoon EST. Looking forward to playing!

female

I have finished reading the turns and am very excited about the roleplay opportunities. My character proposal is a Charming Glaive Who Fights with Panache. As far as introducing her to the group, she could be a late agent of Count Ricci who's joining late, or she could be someone from the household who becomes aware of the group's investigations and decides to join them. I would prefer the first possibility. Am open to suggestions. If we can sort that out, and the proposed character will work, I'll do the crunchy and fluffy bits later today.

OliverClauseHoph here. Just finished my character. Still deciding on a companion but I'm open to suggestions. Will do some reading later. Hope you like! Let me know. Sorry his profile isn't neater. I had it all nice with spoilers and everything and it didn't save. I lost the will to redo it all again. Any who. Where he is.

@Kadomi: I think being agents of Count Ricci will work best so go ahead and continue to develop your proposed PC.

@Zyzyx: the proposed PC is fine. Tie in will be same as Kadomi.

@Both: Please write up the fluffy parts of your PC. Look into any of the other PCs in the game to get an idea of what we are looking for here.

Looking forward to introducing your PCs!

I'll be ready by tomorrow morning with a bunch of fluff! I hope that's not to late? I'm really excited for this PC. Never played a character like this before.
One question. Who are the other party members? I'm assuming Agia, Balanders, and Altha Kein?

Yes, this is the 'fluffy' game unlike my other 'mechanics' game.

And tomorrow is not too late at all. I understand that character creation takes time (but it's fun).

My main concern is to keep the other PCs entertained in the meantime, speaking of which...

Current players are:

Agia, Resilient Nano who Wears a Sheen of Ice;
Altha, An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines; and
Balanders, Tough Glaive who Performs Feats of Strength.

Just one last question! I bought gear for my Seskii. I used one of my starting weapons to buy him "Synthclaws". They are mentioned in the beastiary but there is no "equipment section" that I saw. I figured they'd just add 2 to his damage like a light weapon would? I don't know how that works. Just wanted to draw it to your attention.

I don't know that but I will look into it tonight.

BTW: both of the new PCs should be Tier 1.5 (i.e., you have 8 XPs to buy 2 of the 4 'abilities' for getting up to Tier 2).

Removing Heads from Walls:
Altha blinked as Balanders suggested taking the heads down and shrugged, "We'd just have to put them back up when we left and I don't really want to have to memorize where they all go. I wouldn't be surprised if it affected our pay as well, in the end. You can move them if you want but I'm alright."

Altha quieted as Balanders spoke up and closed her eyes, though her body language bespoke the attention she paid. When someone recounted tales, she liked to listen fully... and that meant with ears and emotions. She'd been with Agia long enough to get the gist of her tale well enough but Balanders was new to them and she wanted to better understand the former gladiator.

Empathy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Just using this to see how well she connects/if she gets overwhelmed :3

In her mind's eye, the scenes he described played out and she felt the waves of joy, apprehension... sadness wash over her as Balanders' story unfolded. It made her glad her strongest asset was her mind... she'd heard too many horror stories of people sold to slavery for their feats of strength or beauty of body. People tended to respect those who could manipulate the Numenera well. Either that or they tried to kill you... She smiled to herself. Every strength had its own dangers she supposed.

Opening her eyes, Altha nodded but didn't say anything. Such a story wasn't exactly kind and she didn't want to offer encouragement when it could very well sound like platitudes. Instead, she sipped her drink, and grinned, "If you're that strong, show us something! Ahm... Lift Agia over your head!" Altha looked at Agia with a mischievous glint in her eye.

The smiles and jovial eyes of his new companions pulled him out of his melancholic reveries. He laughed, ”Lift you both? Hah! These ceilings aren’t nearly high enough for that. Perhaps if we went into the Study, I know I could lift you both on my shoulders without breaking a sweat. I bet I could even toss you up to the second floor!”

Action 2

After breakfast, Balanders saw Agia prepare to venture into Uxphon. He hoped that Agia would stay safe in the pipes, and told her to keep her wits about her.

The last thing Balanders wanted to do was journey back into Uxphon. He was tired of the endless pipes and humidity. In fact, he had little desire to end the relative peace of the Manor life that he had been enjoying thus-far.

Balanders approached Altha and asked her if she would like to take the Thurdens out to get some exercise and to surveil the surroundings. “I saw a few clear trails heading out from the encampment on my brief hike this morning. Would you like to accompany me to see a bit more of the mountain scenery and to scout out what all is around us? I would wager there is as much risk of something bothering us from out of one of these mountains as from within the pipes of Uxphon. Better we should know what lies around these crags and bends.” (Tag Altha)
...

Later that day, Kellog, and Dreithik departed the Manor. Balanders said his goodbyes and wished them well on their journey. Kellog and Dreithik carried their things with them, Balanders was sad to lose two new companions so soon.

Action 1:Om's shop

Om wrote:
The extremely skinny man drummed his fingers on the counter. All sorts of rings and jewels adorned his long fingers, “Well, missy. I do have quite a few things. Interesting but not really useful. Looke here.” He pulled forth a ceramic tile and spoke to it and the tile etched itself with strange markings. He then pointed to the wall where a mummified nonhuman hand twitched as if it was still alive. “I also have … more useful items but these cost plenty of shins. Anything in particular you lookin’ fer?”

Glancing over the wares, Agia relaxed into the rhythm of full on haggling. "Ya think ya can impress me with your shinny little tablet? I've been to a town where the very walls where made from stone with patterns twice as crazy. As for hands, I hack 'em off folks so often I hardly need to be carrying one with me!"

Inwardly, she considered the mummified hand. She felt a pang of sadness when she remembered that Dreithik was leaving. She was sure he'd be intrigued by such a specimen. It would make a great gift, but in her life companions came and went, and she didn't have the funds to be doting upon each soul that passed through her life, even those she considered friends. No, it was time to get serious.

Reaching into her bag she laid out a pair of woven iron-soled boots on the table for Om's perusal. "Shins I got, but I think ya'll would be more interested in a swap when you see what I'm packing. Some fantastic kicks, that's for sure, though a bit on the heavy side for plain walkin'. Give 'em a solid whack and they'll float you right over a river or lake, though. Even with a full pack!"

"Now, I hear you do business with a lot of folks who like to travel. Great distances and all that. I bet any one of them would jump to get their paws on something like this that'll see 'em safe over waters great and small. And while they served me well and I hate to part with them it's looking like I won't be traveling so much for the near future, so I might be persuaded to swap 'em if you've got the goods."

She brought out her stronglass dagger and held it up to the light. "I'm well equipped when it comes to fizzle and bang, but this 'ol thing might as well be dull as stone when it comes to beasties with hides thicker than a slime. Do ya'll got anything that'll give it more punch?"

She's Looking mostly for cyphers in the "weapon nodules" section, though she would also be interested in just a random choice. If there's a good find, she'll probably ask for the hand oddity to sweeten the deal, and toss in some shins and an oddity of her own.

A Charming Glaive Who Fights with Panache

The red velvet walls, chairs, cushions, curtains, they unnerved Ianaga. Used to bright colors as accent to her stylish outfits, it was nevertheless overwhelming to be confronted with the abundance of red velvet in Count Ricci's study. Not that this was visible on her features at all. She sat on the velvet cushions on a chair placed in front of his wide desk. The desk was made of pliable metal, and the Count was kneading on the metal, leaving imprints that smoothed out slowly.

He was dressed casually for an Uxphon noble, with no excess jewelry or numenera visible on him as status symbol. He merely wore a doublet, his long hair falling onto his shoulders, slicked back with shiny pomade that had a sickly sweet smell. He was idly eating a snack from a bowl made of red glass, a certain kind of bug that was drawn to the hotter pipes in Uxphon. Those heatcrawlies, as they were called, had to deep-fried at an unusually high temperature to be cooked at all. They made a nasty crunchy sound.

All in all, Count Ricci really wasn't her favorite person in the world. His terrible taste, his table manners as he kept spitting out tough chitin, and his oily looks, it wasn't for her. But he had paid for her education, seen to it she had the best possible training, and always had the best intentions for her. Even if they meant that she couldn't follow her heart to become an actress and instead had to serve as a strong arm for him.

Ianaga's smile was pleasant, as she continued to listen to her boss, while observing him with such a distanced mind.

"I helped a group of mercenaries infiltrate Tichronus' estate, but I don't trust the bunch. I sent you their portfolios last night." The noble spit out another crawlie part, barely missing Ianaga's hand with the force of it. "In fact, my sources indicate that two of them were seen departing the estate, and that looked final. Unfortunate, but expected. But the most important ones, skilled with numenera, and the huge gladiator, they are still there. See to it that this remains so. You still have your key?"

Ianaga had a sweet voice to match her friendly smiles and nodded her head. "Of course, Your Lordship. Dorial hired me before all others and is assuming I am patrolling the area around the estate already. I have received the portfolios and studied them in detail."

It never serves to smile too much. She was looking very serious and focused now. He need not even suspect that she had only skimmed the portfolios. Balanders, gladiator, blah blah blah. One women whose name began with A, and another. Ianaga wasn't interested in studying, unless it was lines to a play. Two more guys? Who knew. She didn't care.

"I shall join them on the morrow, and will serve as your eyes and ears, your long arm, to make sure the item will be retrieved. I will do my best." She even meant that.

Count Ricci looked pleased. "You have never let me down, Ianni, and I am sure you never will. The Peritts have always been our most loyal servants." He was practically oozing joviality now, before making a dismissive gesture. "You are dismissed. I expect regular reports. Keep them in line."

Ianaga curtsied with a flourish, her red cape swirling around her, billowing as if wind was blowing. The color red of course. Count Ricci liked that.

Without further ado she left, ready to face her first big project as spy in the service of the count. She would make this her best performance ever.

Altha had been late to rise, absorbed in reading her Uxphon book and nosing about her room. The woman was almost too curious for own sake and a few minutes after dinner turned into a few hours. When she finally did rise, she'd missed most of the morning meal and had startled a servant who had been halfway to her room with teas and biscuits in case she'd fallen ill. Apologizing profusely, Altha hurried into the dining room only to find that Dreithik was accompanying Kellog elsewhere... permanently.

Crestfallen, as Altha had come to enjoy her companions and still hadn't learned very much about the puzzle that was Dreithik, the Nano insisted on seeing them off and provided a hug to each before wandering back into the estate. She wasn't in too much of a mood to go out on the town after such a sudden departure.

Thus, when Balanders approached her asking for her company on a ride, Altha was hesitant at first then accepted the offer, grateful for the Gladiator's company. She didn't particularly feel the need to be alone but she also wasn't feeling social enough to brave the streets of Uxphon either – Balanders was an excellent middle ground. ”I think I would, actually. I saw the creatures in the stables when I patrolled yesterday... they're for riding? You'll have to teach me then.” She smiled as she rose from her studied, the pile of books she'd selected from Tichronus' library laying open and spread across the table as if she'd been chasing a theory. “If anything does bother us, between us I'm sure we can take care of it.”

She followed him out into the stables then, hovering around beside the Thurdens. They were odd creatures, of a kind she'd only seen briefly in the city. ”So... how does one go about this?”

The boy, no older then 14, looked nervous as he approached. Zyzyx simply glanced at him, then returned to tending the fire. " 'Scuse me sir. I have a message from Count Ricci for you..." Came here yesterday. Walked all day but you weren't here. It's quite the ride. Said the young boy. Zyzyx did not answer. He simply turned the letter over in his hands. Zyzyx sat down beside the fire again, laying the letter beside him. "Sir." The boy said timidly. The count would like your response. I am to wait till you have made one. Zyzyx sighed. He turned to the boy. Ricci? Zyzyx finally replied. "Yes sir. You have worked for him before?" Asked the boy. Yeah I've worked for him before. Zyzyx read the letter slowely. Flipped it over, stared at the envelop, then read it again. Look. Zyzyx said turning to the boy. I do mostly scouting. Recon. I'm his front line. I'm the guy he sends where no one else wants to go. Hell. I'm the guy he sends where no humans has ever been. Mount Zanlis, the Caecilian Jungle. I am no stranger to the Black Riage. I get in, I get out. As far as anyone's concerened. I was never there. What I'm trying to say is that I'm his man in the field. So this request... House sitting? Zyzyx looked down at the letter. Are you sure I'm who this letter is for?

Three days later Zyzyx was back at the market. He had gone to visit before his new "job" began. What a crock. Zyzyx thought, as he leaned against May's stall, waiting for her to return. He waited for nearly an hour. May must be at home with her old man. He was already on the verge of being late getting to the Counts. Zyzyx bent down, scratching Rax, his Seskii, behind the ears. Looks like she's not here. Sorry bud. I know you wanted to see her. If anyone loved May more than Zyzyx, it was Rax. Grudgingly, and with a whimper, Rax followed Zyzyx through the busy streets, as they headed to the Ricci's

Ricky met them in the garden. An enormous lunch was spread across the table. He and Zyzyx rarely met in person so this whole thing felt... Odd. This must be a truly special occasion, if house sitting requires so much fanfare. Ricci began with his usual sleazy, aristocratic banter. Zyzyx listened patiently until the servants finished serving lunch. Once they were gone zyzyx leaned across the table. Ok. What's so special about this house? Ricci's smile grew uncomfortably wide. "It's not so much the house as it is what's in it..."

I figured you might have some Ricci imput so I decided to stop here. After this scene I will be headed to the house.

Balanders looked at Altha ”Perhaps this adventure will have to wait, I hope there is no trouble inside. Best be ready for anything.”

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

I'll post tomorrow. Had a super busy/late night. :3

M/12 S/12 I/12

I'm with @Altha Kein on that one. I'll post tomorrow as soon as I can. I'd also like to see others reactions to us joining first.

A Charming Glaive Who Fights with Panache

If Ianaga had actually studied the provided portfolios closely, as she told her boss she did, she would have been able to place the women's names, as she joined the group in the dining room. At least it was easy to spot the gladiator.

With as much fanfare as she could muster, Ianaga bowed in greeting, her cape swirling around her. "Ianaga Peritt, at your service." She slipped into a chair and smiled cheerfully at everyone, including the other agent, Zyzyx, her presence here remaining a mystery, for now.

M/12 S/12 I/12

Zyzyx entered the dinning hall behind Ianaga, his Seskii by his side. She sure does like to talk... a lot. He looked around the room. He wasn't exactly a social butterfly like his new companion. He stares at the group for a second. Zyzyx He said. Glancing around the room. He had learned enough about them from the their portfolios.

He wasn't about to waste any time. He felt cramped in the house. Everything smeled hot and metalic. He was ready to get this over with. First things first. What progress have you made? We'll map out the places you've already searched. I'll give the a second look while you move through the rest of the house. Again, after a debriefing I'll look behind you till weve looked through the whole of the house. Then we'll move outside. Checking the stables, grounds, and any other possible places. Questions? I say we've already covered the either the first or second floor?

Tough Glaive who Performs Feats of Strength

Balanders followed Junior into the house, entering the dining room just in time to see the arrival of two people. A woman walked in with grace and a man followed her, looking quite uncomfortable. She took a minute to introduce herself, the man launched into business. Balanders brows furrowed as the man laid out his plans to search the house. He responded ”There are rooms above that remain locked. These other rooms might very well keep secrets that the eyes of a man, more accustomed to secrets than I, could find”

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

As far as I understand this, it's been less than a day since Altha, Agia, and Balanders got to the estate right?

Altha turned when a youth approached them, running to Balanders looking quite surprised as he informed them of new arrivals. The Nano immediately narrowed her eyes and nodded, ”We were told there was no company expected...”

She followed the two into the house, her suspicious expression deepening as a pair of new faces arrived and only briefly named themselves before launching into a plan of attack on the house. Balanders chimed in, helping them plan, but Altha wasn't so quick to trust these people. Ricci hadn't said anything about other agents... and with the machinations of nobles, she wouldn't put it past Tichronus to 'test' them.

The Nano remained silent as she opened her sense to the pair, trying to sense what their motives were... and if they aligned with her party's. They had just lost two companions, it was almost too convienant that two more showed up.

An Resilient Nano who Wears a Sheen of Ice.

Action 1

Peering at the goods that Om laid out, Agia carefully considered her needs. The energy device was what she came for, but seeing in the dark was an intriguing notion. Her companions would need light to see in the dark, however, and if this device made you blinded by light she would have to venture far from them, which hardly seemed advisable in dark places wether you could see or not.

"I'll take tha crackler for the blade, thankya. Here's tha boots. But I think we can sweeten the deal. Toss in tha hand off your wall and I'll give ya this shrinky bead. Looks pretty and fits any sort of strap or chain. Too gaudy for my tastes but right up the alley of the prancing pigs around these parts."

She leaned back, curious if the 'Orsbergian' was going to try and get some shins out of her now that she was expressing an interest.

For the sake of finishing up the transaction and rejoining the group I'll throw in a bartering roll in place of waiting for a counter-offer. Feel free to overrule it.
Intellect: 1d20 ⇒ 20

In the end, the deal concluded so fast that Agia suspected that Om had been trying to get rid of that hand for quite a while, though she couldn't fathom why that would be the case. While she had been thinking of Dreithik when she got it, she decided to keep it for herself as a way of remembering her mysterious companion.

On her way back to the manor she toyed with the short black crystal she had received in exchange for the boots. It seemed inert, but touching it with her tongue gave her enough of a jolt to know it still held a charge. She fiddled until she was reasonable sure she could attach it to her dagger in a pinch, then wrapped it in cloth and tucked it away in her pouch.

Action 2

Unperturbed by the newcomers, Agia had continued to eat while they made their introductions. They were obviously sent by Ricci, given how eager the scruffy one was to get down to business. She shrugged, "If the pompous tart wants to send folks to do our job for us that suits me fine. I won't sweat the details when I already got pay. Sooner they complete their mission the sooner I get back to waiting for the way to the Preset to show itself."

Agia abruptly stopped chewing, her mouth hanging open despite being full of sweet red tubers. How could she have been so blind? Just yesterday she had done a chant to make the path clear, and now here come two strangers out of nowhere hurrying her along on a mission. If that wasn't a sign, what was?

While Agia sat dumbstruck by the spiritual ramifications of the two newcomers, Gary dropped from his spot on the ceiling and flew over to Zyzyx, intrigued by the scent of wilderness and other animals on the man. The giant fly buzzed around the man's head a few times then perched daintily on top of his hood and waved his antennae across the fabric to get a better smell.

Upon witnessing this, Agia sat up abruptly and rushed over, toppling over her chair spitting half chewed tuber as she called out. "Gary! Back, shoo! I'm sorry, friend, tha drakka's mine, I'll get him away. It's weird, he usually hates meeting new folks."

...

Hugging the drakka to her chest as he squirmed in protest, Agia gave the other newcomer a once over, glancing from her painted face to her jeweled blade and flowing cape and becoming somewhat overwhelmed by the style and propriety on display. "And you're... uh... fancy. I'm Agia."

Her eyes narrowed as the newcomers seemed to exchange a glance of mutual acknowledgment. "But ya'll already knew that, didn't ya. Sheesh, tha Count don't like leaving nothing to chance, do he? Well, if we're giving this place a serious search like you said, Zikzik, we'd best get to it. I volunteer to double check the kitchen, and we can all meet back in the study when we're done."

Dropping her voice to a whisper, she motioned at the various game trophies mounted on the walls above the dining table. "I'd suggest not discussing too much of our business round the big horned fuzzers mounted in the dining room. I don't trust 'em one bit."

...

Going through the kitchen scandalized the staff, but Agia stretched the truth a little by saying that she was just looking for a snack. This was only partially untrue, since Agia already suspected that there were no secrets here and was mostly just looking to keep busy while the newcomers did the hard work.

Search roll for the kitchen. Penalty applied for Agia's inability to figure out puzzles or riddles if there is something hidden in a clever way. She is mostly looking to see if the manor stocks heavy cream, her favourite treat, though she likely prefers goat milk over whatever the locals pass for cattle, if they keep cattle at all.

Ianaga was fairly easy to read. There was a touch of annoyance at Zyxzyx having pushed ahead relatively ungently. Aside from that, she practically radiated a sense of open cooperation. She was here to get a job done.

"I am sorry you did not receive advance warning. The Count has many eyes and ears. We were informed that two of your companions had just jumped ship, and he really wants to see this job finished." Again, Ianaga smiled, in her disarming manner, clearly trying to be charming.

Great RPing, everyone!

A couple of things:

POSTING
I usually try to provide a couple of places in the turn recap for player input and it's OK to add input in places I did not think of but be aware that those actions are more or less 'closed'. So make sure you do not add stuff in there that requires an action from someone else that may invalidate what happened after this instance.

INTERACTION BETWEEN PCs
So we usually don't roll to see how PCs affect other PCs. Everyone should be playing in character and should be allowed to react however they see fit. If your PC has some special ability then you can remind the other player and let them take that into consideration in deciding how they react. If the other player wants to roll to see if he's affected, that is fine as well.

MOVING ON
I need some sort actions for the rest of the day, if anything. If nothing goes on, that's fine as well just let me know and I'll move things along.

I intend to recap no later than tomorrow morning.

Female Human An Empathic Nano who Talks to Machines

I've been using the Empathy roll for PC-PC interactions as a sort of estimate of how deeply and how strongly Altha can sense someone's emotions. =3 It's a fun RP guide for me, but if you'd prefer I not do that, I can refrain.

Also! My partner bought me the new Into the Deep book for Numenera! It looks pretty interesting!

Altha was surprised to find what lurked beneath the surface more or less matched what was being presented them and her irritation at the sudden intrusion ebbed. Her manner of speaking and refined approach garnered respect from the empath as Altha nodded slowly, thoughtfully. Of the two, she decided she trusted this Ianaga more and chose to address her when she spoke.

Ianaga wrote:

"I've poured over the lower study and did not turn up anything of interest beyond books. The desk looked normal but it could stand another once over." Altha met Ianaga's gaze evenly, "I would like to interview the staff some more and explore the upper study. I patrolled the outside but nothing stood out to me. You seem able, will you join me in questioning the staff?"

"What, exactly, is Ricci looking for? We did not get a very good description of his prize and nothing has stood out to me as particularly heirloom-like or a trophy." Altha looked from first one then the other new arrival.

Action 2
After their introductions were made, Altha spent the rest of the day conversing with the staff wherever they would give her the time for a few questions. She asked each about Tichronus, about his hobbies, and any odd occurrences, if they'd heard of Preset, and if they knew if and where Tichronus kept numenera devices as she was keen to study them.

I'm OK with you rolling and letting others know about the rolls. I just don't want the others to feel obliged to react a certain way because of a roll.

Old woman: Anthuria;
Old man: Balthus; and

I have a lot of stuff to read on Numenera and don't have Into the Deep but I will eventually get it. it's all pretty interesting.

Zyzyx was frustrated at the group. They obviously weren't taking this very seriously. They had barely searched the house. It looks like he had his work cut out for him. He nodded to Altha and turned to go to the study. Thank you. He said as he went to exit the room. Bedore he could though the door however, a Drakka came flying across the room and landed on Zyzyx's upper arm. He smiled, holding his arm out so the beetle could run up and down it. Agia quickly ran up and snatched the Drakka away, mumbling apologies through a mouth full of her dinner. Zyzyx just grinned and chuckled. No problem. and left the room to begin his search.
