Telos Phane |
Telos takes a deep breath as the air rushes into the room.
"That could have been...much worse!" he says. "I am just happy to have guessed the lever did something useful," he says.
The warrior begins to look around the room, examining the skeleton and then the control panel thoroughly.
take 20 perception: 20 + 4 = 24
Elric Woodsborne |
Elric and Anto move into the room, and Elric searches the skeleton for anything of note.
Take 20 on Perception for a 31
Telos Phane |
Telos takes the silver mesh glove from the corpse's hand and puts it on his own.
He then attempts to manipulate the controls with the glove.
Telos Phane |
"Let's try this glove on the platform below..." Telos says, as if struck with a divine epiphany.
int check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
heh...thx GM Hills! :)
Telos Phane |
"Did everyone feel that?" Telos asks. "I wonder if we have re-aligned properly now...maybe we can get out."
The warrior moves to the exit to check it out.
GM Hills |
The door is not opened by the accidental movement, but with the realization, Telos is able to open the door with a bit more fiddling.
The room on the otherside is a bit smaller than the room the group entered...but more importantly is the creature that stands within the room.
Numerous alcoves are set along the walls of this round chamber, but only a few are occupied by seemingly inactive guardians. A wide archway to the south stands open.
Telos: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Elric: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Leb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Ghaenk: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
1d20 ⇒ 16
Init
Ghaenk 27
Leb 20
It 16
Telos 9
Elric 3
Ghaenk and Leb are up
Telos Phane |
How about I post some actions for these guys. Ghaenk will cast grease under the creature (DC 16 Reflex), and Leb will throw a bomb.
ranged touch, fire bomb, DC 14 refl for half: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 102d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5) + 4 = 15 vs. flat-footed
GM Hills |
Basically what i was about to do ;)
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
The metallic creature seems to ignore the slick ground, but it can't ignore the heat of the flames, 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7it's reflexes failing it when the bomb strikes it.
Stepping out of the grease, the creature, covered in flames closes on the group and raises it's gaze upon them, requiring them to fight to draw away from it's attention.
DC 14 Will or fascinated!
Leb: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
Ghaenk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Heroes up. Telos and Elric, then the little guys!
Elric Woodsborne |
Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Elric bangs his bastard sword against his shield as he advances.
Motioning for Anto to move into a flanking position, he strides forward and slashes hard at the metal monster!
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Will Save Anto: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
GM Star Reroll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Even though Elric gives his tiger companion a command, it's ignored as the great cat is fascinated!
Telos Phane |
will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Telos appears to shake off the effects of the creature's powers. Taking his pole arm in a two-handed grip, he moves in to assault the statue.
MW Bardiche power attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
GM Hills |
The attack clangs against the creature, not quite penetrating it's heavy plating.
As that happens, the smaller fellows continue their attempts to damage the creature.
Leb holds back, "Back away after you swing...or else I can't throw..." As he says that, he pulls out his mutagen and drinks.
Then Ghaenk once again casts his Grease spell, hoping to throw the creature off his feet.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Once again, the creature just manages to keep it's feet before it swings at Elric with a bladed arm, followed by claw.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
The first blow misses entirely, while the second barely misses...the jugular. Blood begins to pour from the hunter as he takes 10 damage.
DC 14 or cower and take no actions. If you fail, you can roll another save at the end of your turn to remove the fear affect
You guys are up!
Telos Phane |
"Get back, Elric!" Telos exclaims in alarm as the elf is gravely wounded.
Unfortunately, the warrior's own blows remain ineffective against the construct.
MW Bardiche attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 111d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
GM Hills |
The weapon doesn't come close and then the creature smacks Elric once more.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Thankfully for the elf, the creature fails horribly in it's attempts to hit.
Ghaenk steps forward and finds a spot where he can let his flames erupt. Flames rip from his fingers and just miss Elric, but coat the creature.
3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 3, 3) + 3 = 10
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
The flames appear to coat the creature, burning brightly.
Leb reaching into his bag to pull out a cure only to realize he can't share it with his companion. Delay, waiting on the others, Elric must save again, you two are up
Telos Phane |
How about both Leb and Ghaenk attack. With Elric withdrawn, they both have clear shots. Also, note that Ghaenk casts burning hands as a level 4 wizard.
burning hands: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 2) + 4 = 15
bomb, ranged touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 91d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
GM Hills |
The flames continue to lick the creature as the bomb scatters.
1d8 ⇒ 6
Falling behind the creature, with it's flames splashing on the creature.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Finding itself coated with the flames.
Telos, you have a shot before it goes! Can you finish it off?
Telos Phane |
Telos stabs at the creature with his bardiche, striking it soundly.
MW Bardiche attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 241d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
CRIT?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 111d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 if that crits for some reason, 22 dmg total
GM Hills |
The damage doesn't seem to all go through...but it is enough to send the creature, melted from the flames that had been dealing extra damage to it throughout the affair, into a slump, inactive and largely falling apart.
After the creature falters, heading back through the redoubt goes without any incidents. It is easy to get back to the beginning and return to Ambris.
He shakes his head upon hearing the story of what happened. "You know...when you discovered areas that were untouched, you probably should have returned and let some of our more...experienced agents go in first, but...I am impressed you managed to make it in and out alive and brought back a good amount of information. Congrats on that!"
The only thing left to do is to decide what, if anything, you are doing with Meleren and Shechera. Otherwise..at long last, this trek is over!
Telos Phane |
Telos finishes his report and reluctantly accepts any praise.
"I think we just did what any Pathfinders would do," he says.
As for the people we found, I think we just turn them over to our superiors, ya? Any other thoughts? Does it matter much one way or another for the story? Also, thanks SO MUCH for getting us through that, GM Hills!!! I know it's hard to step in for another GM, especially when we were so close to the beginning. But very glad you did!!! :)
GM Hills |
It matters a little, but not for anything on the sheets for this lot, I don't believe! I am really sorry it took so long. It was just a chorus of problems for the run. We finally got through it though! There is a PBP gameday starting soon, you guys should get in it if you can!
Telos Phane |
Thanks Hills! You da man! I'll download my chronicle tomorrow morning!
Wait, did I miss that we had chronicles somewhere? I didn't see any posted...
