The Raven opens it's beak, then clicks it shut as her words register. He scootches down her arm a bit and fluffs up his feathers. "Fortunate. Right. In that case just keep me away from the crazy little halfling."

I assume Muni refers to Ragnar as Sourpuss?
nope, that's Eyvindr. Muni knows better than to get lippy with Ragnar. Ragnar's terrifying.
The bird hops off his shoulder and flies in a short circle before settling on her arm. "Hey Toots, why don't you take us over there behind Freakshow and Sourpuss. The more meat between us and whatever's about to happen, the better."
Chops looks over at Eyvindr, and then brings his gaze to Ilona, both of whom have taken up guard duty next to him, and smiles with his big 'ol fangs and chuckles, "You two going to let that bird talk s~%! about you like that?"
Sky steps into the big room, and moving to the left, staying away from the podium, searching as he goes circles the room looking for anything else of note.
"I know how to navigate by them to a minor degree, but I am no Sahi, to know the tale of every light in the sky," Zafina answeres back to Ragnar as she looks up at the stars depicted upon the ceiling; "and I don't think I have ever seen the stars in this sky."
She stops Sky'tor when his circuit of the room brings him past her, and points to his bow and pantomimes shooting it.

Spoiler:
"Do you understand me? Can I see your bow? It's very unique looking."
I'm about 95% sure you can't take 20 on Knowledge tests
You can take 20 on just about anything given the right circumstances. With Knowledge checks it's usually something like having access to a library, having an eidetic memory, or having a GM that just wants to move the plot along.

"Not that we could anymore anyway.' the big Dorn says with sadness. "The shadow has taken even the smallest comforts." Ragnar gazes upwards, memorizing and savoring the false heaven above them.
As he stares upward the glowing pinpricks of light drifting about at waist level slowly reorient themselves until they mirror the lights above. Ragnar blinks as he notices. He turns completely around in wonder, looking at the sea of ghostly constellations the party now stands in, and for a moment the scraping and the constant giggling and crying cease to dead quiet.
"Thank you, children." he says softly, then sighs and bends to activate the rune.
As soon as Ragnar touches the little tree carved in stone, the podium start to blaze with golden light, and the stars on the ceiling start to dance as if they are swarm of fireflies. Ragnar stands back, at loss for words while the tiny lights drift and dance all around each of you. On the edge of your hearing you can almost hear silvery laughter and some beautiful melody. But this doesn't last. After only a few short heartbeats, tiny lights become once again crystal stars on a ceiling, but they form different constellations now. The podium now shines softly like a huge candle, but the glow is still warm and friendly.

I don't have a problem with moving the plot along, but you can't take 20 on any skill that failure doesn't allow a retry. Taking 20 assumes that if you keep trying you'll eventually succeed, which is why it takes 2 minutes to take 20. It is assumed you are trying till your succeed. Knowledge is not a "try again" skill hence you can't take 20. This is RAW You either know something or you don't.
To Ragnar and Solvistania:
"If this is a device to travel, do you think we need to step on it or do you think we have already moved ? Anyone has an idea of the location this new star maps refers to?"

Ilona focuses, trying to hear anything from down the tunnel.

Ilona:
Muffled by the stone trapdoor, you hear the sound of many heavy footsteps and one male voice shouting, but you cannot discern words. The corridor is too long and the secret door too thick for you to hear anything more from that distance.

"From the sound of it, we're still here, 'cause the orcs are still outside. If anybody cares it sounds like they're mobilizing. Maybe you just setthe location."
Solvistania tries to figure out whether teleportation is the spell effect, and whether we need to be on the podium to be affected.
Spellcraft 1d20+11
Sky, please don't go, Solvistania needs a companion to talk to!
Solvistania:
It is not teleport. In fact, I doubt that Solvistania would know what teleport is. But the podium magic is linked to travel, most probably through stone, like druids travel through trees.
"I think this stone transports those who stand upon it through this stone to a different stone...somewhere else. We all need to get on the platform first, while someone triggers the rune."
"I think this stone transports those who stand upon it through this stone to a different stone...somewhere else. We all need to get on the platform first, while someone triggers the rune."
does that mean someone must stay behind? Could someone trigger the rune while standing on the stone?

I believe you can reach the rune while standing on the podium. Is that correct nightflier?

Yes it is. Although you don't have to touch it to activate the stepping stone. You just need to stand on it. :)
"I believe if we all stand on the podium, it will reactivate it. We should leave soon, I do not want to be trapped here. Ragnar, you may want to call your other raven here now."
"Anyone has an idea of the location this new star maps refers to?"
"I do not. Zafina? Do you recognize this pattern?"

"Is it safe to open the trap door?" he says looking down the hall. "I hear nothing"
Solvistania murmers "I feel much better with Ilona gaurding my back. She shows great skill with her Verdatch."
She points out the trigger rune in the shape of the tree, that she spotted earlier, to Ragnar, "Here it is, very difficult to spot. I believe this will trigger the power of the circle."
Sorry, just catching up now...
Eyvindr mutters discontentedly to Chops, "well, I guess some folks did not trust that the two of us could not keep the enemy at bay. Apparently, Ilona makes all the difference..."

"Muni is a spirit guide," mumbles Eyvindr. "Were he a mere mortal, he might find himself without a beak... but it is always best to avoid talking back to the spirits, lest you be the Death-Speaker..."

"I hear nothing either, brother," says Eyvindr. "Chops? Ilona?"
I was looking for more on the Survival-related side, such as what someone navigating by the Raven might know, ex.
If in Southern Erenland during the fall, the Raven is low in teh western sky early in the evening, sinking below the horizon shortly after midnight.
Of course, she may not know more than being able ot recognisze it, which is cool. Just wanted to clarify the kind of knowledge I was looking for. ;)
A look of concern suddenly appears on Chops' face. "I think we had better hurry. It sounds like they are trying to break through the trapdoor. It's only a matter of time."

Hugi flaps once from his perch on Solvistania's arm. "Damn right" he squawks, glaring for a moment at Pete. Ragnar gives the bird a flat stare and it settles down.

"The rest of the Vigdir will have to remain behind. They will find me eventually. It is their way." Ragnar steps up onto the stone, pausing for a moment, as if waiting for something to happen to him. "It seems safe. Come."
Zafina watches expectantly as Ragnar steps onto the pedestal, and when nothing happens, she lets out a breath she wasn't aware she was holding. She squares her shoulders and clins up onto the stone a little ways from Ragnar, and looks at the others.
"Come on. Let's go before we have to bring the orcs and gobs with us."

"Can somebody help me up there ?" says the diminutive woman.""With my size, Chops could come up as well"
The podium is large enough for four persons of medium stature to stand on it. Ragnar takes a bit more space, but Zafina takes a little less, so there's room for two more, as long as those two are not both Chops and Eyvindr.
To Eyvindr and Ilona, You got this? he indicates the hallway. Assuming that they are going to say yes, Chops says to Gilian, "Sure thing!" He grabs her about the waist and leaps up to the platform.
Ragnar, Zafina and Chops are standing. Chops has Gilian in his arms, and Pete crouches. There is enough room. Just.
As soon as Chops and Pete jumped on the podium, the golden light blazed once again and the people on the stepping stone started to sink in it, like they were standing on a quick sand. Solvistania reached to touch the rune, but she stopped with horrified look on her face when her companions sank into stone. Those on the platform showed no worry on their faces. It was like they were listening to some beautiful music. And then, they were gone.
