As far as naming a leader, are there any volunteers? I'm playing a charismatic (at least mechanically) bard whose backstory has him coming from a long line of skalds to kings. I know we also have a really talky-talk oracle as well who could make the mechincal rolls well.
That being said, it certainly doesn't come down to just dice rolls so are there people who want to take the reins regardless of skill selection?
I'd be fine assuming the roll if people don't want to, but given my build I'm guessing I'll have plenty of other opportunities to stretch my RP muscles, as it were.
Pretty sure I'm out of the running- I can get behind Velkirth or Svalk. We barely know each other, really, so it may just come down to whomever steps up and can present us in the best light.
Yeah, Velkirk or Svalk taking on the face role are fine with me. Karl's probably more likely to support Svalk because they've had a bit more in game interaction, but our characters barely know each other, so this can change over time.
Yeah I've been a bit silent for the most part so I can understand that. While I know the concept for my character, its still hard for me to fit him into the idle "chit-chat" between characters as I don't know he fits with the rest of the group just yet. He doesn't have as many common interests/hooks as some of the others seem to.
I'm fine having Svalk being the leader, however, my more immediate conern is the instructions we were giving that spellcasters "will not be allowed to speak, or to move your hands", which would pose a problem answering the question of who our leader is, much less speaking as the leader. I'm pretty sure our best leader candidates are all spellcasters. I know Svalk doesn't want to say "I'm the leader" and then get riddled with crossbow bolts for being a spellcaster who dared to talk. I don't want his last words to be "I'm the....AAARGGGH!" Based on that restriction, if spellcasters aren't allowed to speak still, I think Shou Zhen should speak for us now.
I think we'd be fine with Shou Zhen, Velkirth, Dagmar, or Svalk as the leader. I also don't think that who we declare the leader here and now has to be the leader going forward, as we get to know each other better.
Agreed on the leader being permanent issue. We're not picking our king or anything. As far as the spellcaster thing, I think there's a certain amount of leeway on that one. First off it's not like we're wearing signs or anything and I don't think he's trying to bait us into getting shot. My feeling was more "Don't do any overt spellcasting style movements or speech" as those would be a bit more obvious than simple talking.
That seems to be the case from where I'm sitting. Anyone disagree? Svalk you up for it? Cause if so it sounds like you can go ahead and take the lead in the thread.
I'm hoping my diplomacy roll actually talking to him can get used instead...but I don't expect it. At least these aren't saving throws vs. a death effect.
I didn't realize that we had any choice in the matter, but I'm fine with working with the Blackravens for now. Especially since our contact just randomly took a shine to me- not that I'm expecting everyone to suddenly start following orders.
Okay guys, it's time to move on with this. Please make your decision and when you do, post it in Game Thread. There will be a usual pause over the weekend, so I'd like to start you on a journey to see Black Alys tomorrow at the latest.
No problem. I am in a bit of a time constraint as well, but I should post at least once today and I'll probably post tomorrow, to make up for the day of posting I missed.
Hi! Well just to explain my absence but promise to post something today I hope, its been hard all this damnable week, wife in the hospital and got laid-off so I'm a bit busy but will try to keep it up
Guys, RL is giving me trouble. Nothing I can't handle, but I may skip a day or two when posting. This doesn't mean anything in the long run and it will last a week or two at the longest. Sorry.
On the RL side of things, I'm relocating in a few weeks from Chicago to Seattle, so from Tuesday Feb 28 through Saturday March 2, I'll be offline and busy with moving. After that, I'll be settleing into a new city and new job, so I might be a bit sporatic with posting, but I hope to be able to post once a day (though it will likely be in the evenings for a while).
Well, I will probably have Karl hurl a javelin at the closest goblin, then draw his greatsword as he moves adjacent to Shuo to help cut down on the flanking unless someone has a different strategy they would prefer.
Also, Shuo, you get to apply your dodge bonus to your AC as long as you can apply your dex bonus to AC. It's not limited to a single attacker.
I'll cast bless when I act, and position myself immediately behind the front line fighters, so I can reach with my longspear to any goblins attacking them.
Also, I'll take attacks of opportunity on any that move through my 10 foot reach (up to 3, with combat reflexes).
Velkirth, your inspire courage and my bless spell both provide non-stacking morale bonuses. We'll have to coordinate not to both use actions activating them.
Based on this, if Velkirth inspires before Svalk casts bless, Svalk will instead cast divine favor on himself.
Ok I have decent AC if not I think the highest in the group? So will not make the arrow shot and go to the front and stand in line with ragnar or bodyguard our weakest team member.
Guys, I'm gonna return to regular posting tomorrow evening. I will reply to your posts then and I will post over the weekend to make up for the lost time.
Sorry for my absence, guys. I'm afraid that my health has deteriorated and I'll have to undergo a minor surgical procedure. It's nothing life-threatening, or even painful (at least that's what the doctors are telling me), but necessary preparations and tests are taking almost all of my time, and bureaucratic nonsense that I have to go through before I even reach the doctors is mind-staggering. So, I'm sorry to say that I'll not be able to run the game for a month at least (it will take me two weeks to get to the procedure, and about ten days for the recovery). I will be present on the boards and I fully intend to get back to my games after I recover, but I will not be able to give the game the full attention it deserves. So, sorry once again.
Sorry to hear about this. But of course your health is number one priority. I hope this procdure helps to get you back to 100%. I will keep an eye on the boards and look forward to getting back into it when you're back.
Yea, take care of your health first, and let us know when you're ready. It's actually good timing for me to take a break, since I just started my new job, so I expect I'll be busier than typical for the next month.
