DM

What the frick with the ogre plague zombie. That thing is a beast.

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

@DM - Please pick a random melee enemy and go two 'hits', then next enemy... Round robin. Remember the penalty if any for AC when blind. Just for GRINS.

DM

I removed that reply, but I get what you mean.

Per +11

Normally the trouble with using uncontrolled undead is the fact they hate the living.
Sadly Sandru's counterfeit of life is likely to prove a little too convincing.

Male Human Wizard 9 (Teleport) Perception +8

Damn, Just looked it up and Withdraw doesn't work against invisible opponents. Also discovered you can't use it if you're blinded.

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

Are you forced to make a contested Stealth check @ +20 for invisible? Verbal, moving, etc...

Also, the dragon knows you're there, you just have concealment... Per dragon senses, blindsense.

Male Human Wizard 9 (Teleport) Perception +8

Nope - area of darkness renders him blinded. Blinded people can't use withdraw.

Caught me by surprise - I was all indignant about having used withdraw, but when I looked it up Network was absolutely right. Should have just Teleported to P8 :)

If it had reach I'm guessing that moving out of O9 would have provoked anyway.

Network: Given cannot do a withdraw action is it okay to change to a normal move and start casting a summon Monster II? If the half speed for blinded applies to that first 5ft then he'll only be able to move to O8.

DM

Sure, you can redo your turn if you'd like to (teleport, summon monster, etc.)

We will use the rule of J’adoube. :)

Male Human Wizard 9 (Teleport) Perception +8

Done is done - you've rolled and hit, so don't want to avoid that. Given that I couldn't do the move I thought I could I'd like to start summoning though.
Takes a full round, so I'll do a "start full round action" action

DM

I'm not using the CMD listed in the bestiary, by the way.

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

Sandru peed his glamered pants, so no one notices. What do you need me to roll?

But seriously .. would Disable Device work?

DM

Sure, that is higher than your CMB so that is fine too. Similarly, Ianez you have Disable Device and Knowledge (engineering). Those would be fine too.

DM

@Sandru - The dragon is no longer entangled (that lasted only one round.)

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

Bugger! Flanking?

DM

Yeah, I included the sneak attack damage.

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

Awesome, finally tanking!

That picture looks amazing.

Concur. Winner of the steampunk dragon contest, easy.

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

Very cool.

DM

@Ianez - didn't know if this was clear, but you can still take a turn. After you, then it's La Sireene's turn.

Sorry, long day at work. I'll get something up.

Oh gods, I love the internal machinations of this thing. Very spooky and amusing.

A heads-up in advance: I'll be largely afk from 8/30 through 9/3; I'll be at WorldCon in Chicago. Anyone else going to be there?

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

Never been to a Con, maybe some day!

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

@Blackacre - aren't you packin' heat? Touch AC!

Male Human Wizard 9 (Teleport) Perception +8

@Nameless - yeah, I loved that too!

Good point, but I think the darkness thing is what's killing my damage right now

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

Not familiar with Inquisitors... no Judgement to strip the darkness? Or a higher level light of some sort?

Per +11

In all these years I've never had a skeletal figure in a black necromancer's robe finish something off with a scythe before... I feel like I have accomplished a goal I never knew I had...

DM

:)

*applause*

Per +11

I'm prepared to give the ogre a free AoO on the manservant for talking, if you like :)

*Applause*

Good job!

That fight was, to use a usually missused but currently fitting term...

Epic.

Per +11

It certainly was! Possibly the most memorable dragon I've every fought!

DM

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it.

There was a moment at the end where it was a nail-biter, heh heh, but you work very well as a team and are great storytellers. I am tempted for treasure to give you each your own Voltron lion, lol.

***INACTIVE*** Human Archaeologist Bard/9; Init: +4*; Perc: +19; HP 27/63, F: +7/R: +10*/W: +7

It was pretty cool, yeah. You did a great job of making it more than just a collection of HP; the Cyberman vibe was creepy.

So, what's next on the agenda?

DM

Thanks!

This is the end of Chapter 1. You can sell your dragon to Madam Sabina and advance your characters to Level 7. (I advanced the scene back to her shop, but if anyone has additional business outside with the dragon before we go, feel free to still post about it.)

Fyi, I posted new concept art for your characters on the 'Campaign Info' page under Chapter 2.

Then, next up...the Salon der Nekromantie!

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

@LS - not ignoring language question, just hard to properly RP from phone. Rolling dice kills!

DM

You can decide differently, but our default assumption is that you divide the 45,000 gp six ways between you.

I think we should divide, but as I said in the main thread, I dont mind giving part of my share to buy an expensive item for someone.

I might want a Metamaic Rod of Silent Spells, but if possible, my first priority is to help someone else get a significant boost.

Love the new concept art, by the way!

One question - I have new spells slots. Will I need to meditate to fill these, or what?

Male Human Wizard 9 (Teleport) Perception +8

*and* we level? Awesome!
When we have time Caromarc can craft things for people if they want.

DM

I don't require that you formally meditate for your new spells right now. We're at a place where there is urgency (you were already waylaid for your rendezvous with "S") and it would be awkward (I'm thinking of Quinn specifically, who probably doesn't want to linger at Sabina's place more than necessary, even were she inclined to be that hospitable.) Rather than sit down to meditate, everyone can roleplay this how they like...a possibility might simply be "reflecting" on an increased sense of power/knowledge of spells, etc. as you journey.

***INACTIVE*** Human Archaeologist Bard/9; Init: +4*; Perc: +19; HP 27/63, F: +7/R: +10*/W: +7

L7 HP: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Can't beat that.

ETA: I think I've got Ianez updated. He took Precise Shot for a feat, put one skill rank each in Knowledge (Nature) and Knowledge (Planes) for a bonus of +9, and picked up three new spells--dispel magic, see invisibility, and grease. Subject to change, if anyone has any other suggestions.

DM

Found something awesome! Our shopkeeper is making the rounds of Gen Con.

Male Half-Elf Zen Archer Monk 8 / Mage 1
Info:
HP:49/80, AC:26, Saves F+11, R+11, W:+18, Speed:50, Perc:+20

Wow. Lots of activity. Was on the road for 6 hours to PA.

What's the rule on weapon improvement? Raising a weapon to a +2 status or eqivalent?

Also, trying to roleplay Quinn having a distrust towards the drider and drows. Being that I am trying to roleplay him as a monk with a high wisdom, trying to have some form of internal conflict between his elf background and his monk-hood.

Another thing about level increase.... would it be possible for Quinn to acquire the Improved Natural Attack feat? Was thinking about acquiring this feat. This would raise his unarmed damage to the next level, from 1d8 to 2d6. Zen Archers can use a Ki point to transfer their unarmed damage to the arrow. Just wanted to ask before I write it down.

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

Any chance of those twin rapiers being magical? Maybe we should go get them...

Dragon was cool, pics are cool. That Drider is awesome!!!

Enjoying the game immensely, thanks ALL!

Sorry Caromarc & Ianez, didn't mean to sell the dragon from under you! Was just puttin' the idea out there.

And, are we saving up for something? Who's crafting what... we should be cranking stuff out.

Some utility items could be: Boots of spider climb (tacky floor), boots of elvenkind, necklace of fireballs (swarms), something with higher level light.. daylight?

Kwanjan Quinn wrote:

I think you can pay the difference between a +1 and +2 weapon (6K gp). But I think that having members of the party who have Craft Magic Arms & Armor means you can enlist their help to get it for only 3K gp. (Maybe they should weigh in to make sure I'm right about that.)

I think you're doing a great job with that! It's a naturally interesting counterpoint to the "alliance" with the drow.

From what I read in this discussion thread, I'm not sure you're able to take that feat.

Male Human Wizard 9 (Teleport) Perception +8

Quick point. I believe Caromarc can craft approx 500gp/4hrs.
So while he can make a +2 weapon, it is three days work.

HP 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

@Improved Natural Attack
By the rules of the developers, in this instance - monks cannot pick that feat. There are strong opinions about that descision. Developers say that would allow the monk to deal too much damage - more than one forum user says that argument is a load of Dragon dung. Still, the rules are clear: no Improved Natural Attack for monks.

I think you people should get Cloaks or Resistance/Belts of ability scores. They are standard items for a reason.

I also think Boots of Speed are way awesome and that you should get them. But that is just me rambling.

HP 56/88 Male Half-Orc Barbarian 1/Unbreakable 2/Rogue 6

OK, gents... I've always wanted to play a Crafter. And, as such... I read those freakin' rules inside out!

@Quinn - stop belly-aching, Monk's Robes, done!

13,000 GP

This simple brown robe, when worn, confers great ability in unarmed combat. If the wearer has levels in monk, her AC and unarmed damage is treated as a monk of five levels higher.

@Caromarc - The (I'm making assumptions, but) 500/4hrs is the 1000/8hrs? You get 2 hours while adventuring. Just need to have the tools/materials, no dedicated time, you are assumed to do it throughout the day while taking care of other things.

At any time, you can bump the Spellcraft DC by +5, and double your output.

If you want to "dedicate" time, it can be dedicated @ 4hr intervals.

If you have a Ring of Sustenance, you can get extra output during the night. But, I think it takes a week to attune itself to you. Sandru has one.

There is an Arcane Discovery, Arcane Builder? Which gives 25% extra output for one Item Creation feat.

DM

Speaking of belts/headbands, etc, several PCs are wearing them (Nameless, Quinn, Caromarc), and they grant a temporary ability bonus the first 24 hours the item is worn. Are you accounting for the passage of time in regards to these items?
