Hey Network, just to check
(A) MM doesn;t heal, so is still damaged, right?
(B) Can MM be assumed to have prepped his extracts and mutagen?
(C) Can Caromarc change his spell load-out (he was going to try for a more combatative one) or is he on his standard load (okay if so)
(D) I assume all duration spells have fallen over?
(A) I dunno. You repair him, right? If you could do that during Agnes's 'rest', then he can be healed up.
(B) Yes.
(C) Yes. Agnes's rest was a standard rest. Anything you could do during a standard rest, you can do now. (I want you to have the spells you want, including the new ones from the scroll if applicable.)
(D) Yes.
I am wrestling with the druid spell list, here. So, question: Should I keep Obscuring Mist and Faerie Fire? While I've been told that Obscuring Mist is very mechanically powerful, I have yet to encounter a situation where I've wanted to use it. Faerie Fire had some use versus the Nightmare, but I question how useful It will be.
At this point, any opinion on whether I should replace these spells, and in that case what with, would be useful. If nothing else, I suppose Cure Light Wounds is always nice to have. Although I do already have a wand of it.
Um... this "take the identity of an historical person" thing...
Do our characters forget their original identities and become who they are pretending to be? Are they aware of this? Are they acting on a sort of automatic, how the historical person should act, but the PC's can observe it happening? Are the PC's aware of it with full free will, privy to what the historical person would do but in control of their actions?
They have entered the scene with the consciousness of the historical alter-ego, but are not on 100% automatic...sort of like 50% automatic. They can (and probably should) act in ways that reflect who they are in the present time (but not just be your usual character.) Ianez's post is a good example: Ivan's instruction to the students reflects Ianez's personality without being Ianez. I just provided a starting point to RP. For instance, you could have Selena worry some more about her lover, or she could decide eh, better off without him...whatever you want and feels true to LS, it was just to put you in the scene.
You retain all of your armor, abilities, etc., but your relationships with each other for this scene exist as the historical characters. In other words, you are 'thrown together by circumstance' (eh, been there before) because you all happen to be visiting the garden. So, Sanders and Finn know each other, and Kristophe and Gavin have professional antagonism, but RP starting from there in those personas and not a "Hey Sandru, remember when those hell-hounds attacked us in the sewer" kind of thing.
Another way to put it is be Selena, and take liberties as you wish with your consciousness in the present, like if you want it can be half-remembered things or distant memories, etc. But that's possible, but not necessary.
Well, there's how I am playing it, at least to start - there are some deep rooted memories regarding watching thoughts without connection to an active personal thought process, even if they are half-remembered and scrambled, so that's what La Siréene thinks it is - multiple personality fun! Also, it’s hard to remember a name one does not technically have, so no Nameless.
Everyone looks basically similar, but Sandru looks like a burly human, MM looks like a garden-bot (rake, hoe...as you wish to depict him), Elspeth is a balloon (albeit a creative type of balloon), and LS and Caromarc don't have their additions for appearance purposes (although they still do for stat purposes.)
So, we're going to begin an encounter. I propose for right now that Blackacre have 'floating' initiative, where I will roll for his initiative and he'll be listed in the turn order. Every round, he can take his action on or after his turn in the initiative order. If he isn't able to participate by the end of a given round, he is considered to have readied his action and can take it anytime before his turn in the next round.

@Sanders - Are you running? Can you get to R6? Your speed is 40 ft? (I think R6 would be 50 ft.)
Would a hustle work?
Hustle: A hustle is a jog at twice a character's base speed. A character performing the double move action or a character using a move action to move it's base speed in the same round that he or she performs a standard action or another move action is hustling when he or she moves.
We can ignore the whisper/message, if I don't have enough actions... I can just say it so that Finn can hear, and hopefully the Treant doesn't.
Re Caromarc - Would it be okay (fair/unfair?) to divide the initiative of the three and just make it +4 for all of them? A compromise between recognizing the minions' higher initiative but also keeping that they all act together for the pacing of the game?
I edited the turn order: first, I had Ivan and Gavin listed backwards, so I switched that around. I moved Kristoph and co. after Ivan but before Gavin to reflect the +4 instead of +2. So, now it is Ivan, then Kristoph, then Gavin.
Hustle is fine. You can say what you said so Finn can hear, and I rolled for the treant just to see...not a good roll, lol. So we'll say the treant didn't hear you.
@Network; I'm not complaining, just have the weirdest feeling I'm letting them "down" somehow. You put them on my init order because they're not full PCs, and that way you only end up waiting for me once per post. I think that was a good decision.
I appreciate that, but you're right, and now that you mentioned it (and I thought it too so don't worry), I think bumping you to +4 across the board, as a gestalt for your character and as a conceit for gameplay, is not too radical. It evens out. *bangs my GM gavel* Let it be so!
Not that anyone necessarily cares, but I've had more fun playing Blackacre than any other PC. Hope everyone else is enjoying this great cast of characters.
Actually, I care, because I am quite fond of the mad man. He rounds out the cast very nicely, and I mean that as a substantial compliment.
To answer your second statement: Hell yes! Every one of the PC's has gotten a laugh or chuckle out of me at least once, and all are sympathetic and relatable at some level; I just wish I was better at being proactive with character interaction, so that I might better take advantage of this fact.
I especially like the way we'we managed to create good (alignment wise) characters with some depth to them. From paranoid law enforcer Gaston to people-loving psychopath La Siréene.
@Network: I also want to take this chance to commend you, Network - this Harrowing bit was excellent! I loved the Hareton reveal!

I'm going to be on the road most of the weekend (it's a time of opposites; visitation tonight for a friend's mother, then out of town wedding & Halloween party tomorrow). I also foolishly trusted the boards that nothing new had been posted when I checked things last night, so it looks like I missed a whole lot of things. Will get to that posthaste.
Also, I wanted to echo the kudos all around. This is a bizarre and broken bunch of beings, but the party works and the world is great fun to play off of. Nice job, all!
Some of the later perception checks are out of order with the rest of the posts, but as indicated, the significance of this check was to know Hergelund went upstairs but it wasn't in response to anything in particular.
@Caromarc - There were many times that I thought thank god for this Volst fellow, lol.
Just so you know, Phoebe works a bit differently than Hareton did. She is more a full-fledged NPC member of the party. Her main purpose is to assist you as a backup healer (if needed).

I'm gonna ask her to flame my cutlass (stop, perverts!)... before wading into melee!
Also, as this is the 800th post in discussion, I'll have you know for the same timeframe I think few games have 800 posts in gameplay! Kudos all around! Another indicator of DM/Player interaction/participation... and a good game!
