Fixit and Smith |
"Fixit is Fixit. And Angel is Smith. Fixit can dig hole for Master's person. Fixit it good at digging holes. Old masters made Fixit dig holes, but Fixit can dig faster when old masters weren't watching."
He 'sits.' Which for a dog person means crouching and wagging tail as he looks up at his new masters.
BloodWolven |
The girls thank them and wait with Fixit on the other side of Gem and Alton than them.
The fire seems to continue below and the fall of a good portion of the bridge can be heard as it breaks apart and falls into the pesh moat below.
Please note what items you take in a spoiler or in the discussion tab, or write it down as actions in gameplay. Otherwise the items are left behind.
The three of you look around the room for anything else of value or threat, finding none besides the wealth behind the bed and the piles created by the halfling move on to other parts of the tower.
A stone ladder of sorts appears to lead upstairs. Then there is the staircase down.
Fixit and Smith |
Fixit doesn't seem interested in any of the objects or money. At least not right now. Maybe he knows he didn't earn it.
He does pick up a simple loop earring, not worth a whole coin and looks at it, turning it over in his hand and sniffing it before just putting it through his ear like it was nothing. With this done he drops the curious expression and goes back to sitting and smiling. The funny thing is that his ear almost didn't bleed at all. Just the slightest twinge of red is visible before it dissappears.
He seems oblivious to the girls' avoidance of him.
BloodWolven |
The girls look at you all and then go over to the piles of equipment. Each tries on different suits to see which would fit the best but eventually just leave the armor. Each picks up a dagger with a scabbard and a belt. One of them picks up a light steel shield and straps it to her arm.
Alton VenRysn |
Alton looks on in amusement, as they arm themselves, gladly allowing them to do so, so long as they don't touch any of the magic items or liquid assets, "did these items belong to you prior to your capture, or are you simply makeing yourself useful, I assume the latter, which is admirable, one should always have a purpose, and strive to do all that they can when they answer he nods and says "when you're done we'll strap the remainder to the horses, and we'll do one last sweep of the place before we leave ... Hmm we lost one man, and are bringing back four... Small logistics issue, gem, you and fixit share our fallen comrad's mount. Arrisia, bell, one of you can share my horse with me, the other can go with either Baris or Jelissia
BloodWolven |
"The latter... we did not have much of anything as slaves." Arrisia says timidly. They go back to the bed and sit waiting for movement by the others in the room.
Baris the Monke |
Baris is outside away from everyone but Jellisa, he is digging a grave.
"Gem" |
Gem's interest was taken by the ladder farely quickly- he looks up, trying to decipher where it goes.
BloodWolven |
The ladder goes up to the next floor, about 30 feet up. There appears to be a trapdoor at the top of it. Also some webs crisscross before it.
"Gem" |
gem looks back to the others.
"we gonna go up there?"
"Gem" |
Gem nods.
"hmm. Anyone else wanna check it out?"
Fixit and Smith |
"Fixit doesn't remember what is up the ladder. Should come and help check for others."
He stands and looks up the ladder.
He starts climbing unless Gem or another master stops him. In fact he'll go through the hatch, busting a lock with his smithing hammer if need be unless stopped.
"Gem" |
"Hay, should we wait for baris, now that I think about it?"
BloodWolven |
Fixit goes on ahead and gets to the top of the ladder. The trapdoor seems to be either stuck or braced. No spiders have come out to greet you Fixit.
Fixit and Smith |
"Door broken. Try'n fixin."
Fixit will see if he can open the door anyways.
1d20 + 5 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 2 + 3 = 21Disable Device
And/Or
1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 2 = 26Strength Check+large
He'll try to bust the hinges and pull it off, and if that won't work, he seemingly grows in size about twice his size before as his chain belt has a small glimmer and tries to simply bash the door open.
BloodWolven |
The door busts into the room above under the sheer muscle of the gnoll.
There is no source of light.
With darkvision or a light source the room is rather sparse in any decorations. A old moth eaten tapestry is on one wall. The broken trap door is to the side with a termite eaten bracing wooden beam. A few chairs are about, which look to be in disrepair and termite eaten. Another stone ladder leads up to another level up above. A blue 10 ft by 10 ft patchy rug is below the ladder. No windows and the last thing of notice is a suit of armor.
"Gem" |
gem watches, and shudders a bit at the loud noise.
"Ooook. Not geating on his bad side... What do you see up there?"
Sevvi derro |
sevvi jumps to his feet at the loud noise, looking up from the hyena he's mamed to the point where you can't even tell what it even was. His smile widens, and he darts up the stairs, only to be dissapointed when he sees a lack of violence. He snorts loudly, and then rubs his temples with his bloodstained hands, leaving quite a bit of blood on his face. He doesn't care.
Fixit and Smith |
Fixit stops to see if there's anything interesting about the armor.
1d20 + 5 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 3 + 2 = 14Spellcraft to check for magic
1d20 + 5 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 3 + 2 = 26Craft Armor check to know about the suit.
"Broken things. Hanging thing. 'Nother ladder. Armor."
He calls down.
Alton VenRysn |
Not satisfied with that level of detail, Alton goes up the ladder and looks around for any magical auras.
If he doesn't see any he goes to check out the tapestries and rugs, trying to see if they were originally of high quality, to see if it would be worth magically restoring and carrying back
BloodWolven |
The suit off armor in front of Fixit seems to be just as old as the tower. It is strange how it is not affected by time as much as the rest of the tower. It is not magical.
Alton you think the rug could be restored. The tapestry looks like it is a lost cause.
"Gem" |
gem eventually climbs up after, and notes the next ladder, the only theing of seeming interest, and heads to inspect that. There another trapdoor?
BloodWolven |
The suit of armor is banded mail, and a few extra pieces to make it a full suit. It appears to be made out of regular metal, well you think it might be slightly magnetic.
Gem you head up the ladder and do find another trapdoor but this one has an intricate symbol on it, or does the symbol make up the trap door. You are not for sure which one it is. Three crystals are set in the door as well. You see that there is a magical trap set in the door.
"Gem" |
gem smiles, and starts to work to disarm the door, not really even knowing what he's working to disarm... but he tires anyway!
take ten with insperation: 1d6 + 27 ⇒ (2) + 27 = 29
BloodWolven |
Gem as you begin to fiddle with the symbols and start to disarm the magical runes you notice it is getting hotter. Do you continue?
"Gem" |
gem pauses a moment.
"Would somone come check what this thing is? I need to know if I Cna disarm it. I can do most magic traps, but this might be tricky."
BloodWolven |
There is not enough room for a second person at the top of the ladder and you are pretty sure you didn't flub. The heat continues to increase every second.
"Gem" |
gem continues to work, hoping to get it done beofre it gets too hot to deal with.
BloodWolven |
Gem finishes disabling the trap and the door opens up as three panels pull back into the door frame. Then it feels swelteringly hot, like 150 degrees, there is light coming from the room above. A ball of moving flame comes to the edge of the trapdoor before you can do anything. It just sits there...
BloodWolven |
How do you summon the water Fixit? Are you using a create water spell?
The fire moves back from the water, some hits Gem which is likely a bit refreshing. Then the water begins to steam...
As Fixit and Alton are at the bottom of the ladder it feels as if a hot wind is being sent your direction from above. The room is very slowly increasing in heat.
"Gem" |
gem slides down the ladder.
"Uhm...,
BloodWolven |
The heat continues to pour down the ladder and flashes of light can be seen coming from the trapdoor.
BloodWolven |
A response comes but only Alton likely understands it, flames increasing and decreasing in intensity.
Alton VenRysn |
Alton turns to the gnoll, saying "cut the water until I say otherwise, but be ready to cast it in an instant if nessairy I will be doing the same"[/b] he then grabs hold of the ladder and shouts up in ignan saying
BloodWolven |
Alton can tell that the heat has not let up but it does not affect him as much as the others likely. Poking your head up you see there are several flames moving about the room like balls. On the wall there is a humanoid form attached to the wall with wreathes of fire around her. Binds of magical force appear to hold her on the dais on the wall. Around the room there is ash in small and large piles. There appears to be no other way in or out of this room.
At your appearance she shouts out in Ignan, "Please be careful I have no control over the elementals. They grow stronger with substance to burn."
Alton VenRysn |
"Will destroying them hurt you? Would watter getting on you hurt you?" He asks as he draws his weapon comming fully into the room
If she answers no to both questions he shouts down to the others to restart casting whatever water or ice magic they have
If she says no to the first question but yes to the second question he charges the elementals with the sword what size catagory are they?
If she says yes to the first question he simply quickly goes to her and chops at her bindings with his weapon.
BloodWolven |
The three small fire elementals continue to swirl around the room. Around the trap door there appears to be a chalk circle around it. One of the elementals have bounced away from you already once, apparently the circle keeps them from you.
She shouts out again in Ignan, "No, destroy them so you can get to me. Water would sooner turn to steam than hurt me."
Alton VenRysn |
Alton begins muttering in infernal "rekhit, unless this ward stops you I want you to invisibly fly over there and attempt to free her, I will take care of the elementals"
He then shouts down "you may continue with the water, ice spells, or anything that grants resistance to fire would also be appriviated" he then takes the time to calmly focus on one of the elementals with his sword drawn before charging one of the closer elementals, careful not to disturbe the circle if at all possible
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 221d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
BloodWolven |
This is your chance to shout out something from below, or cast some protective spells on Atlon if not yourself. You got two rounds before Alton charges in.
Alton charges in and slashes the fire elemental, barely cutting into the fiery form. The three elementals then charge Alton, arms pull away from their bodies and slam towards him.
slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1 plus burn burn, Ref DC 16 or: 1d8 ⇒ 2 fire damage
slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 plus burn burn, Ref DC 16 or: 1d8 ⇒ 1 fire damage
slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 plus burn burn, Ref DC 16 or: 1d8 ⇒ 2 fire damage
As two of them slam into Alton they grow bigger. Two of the elementals are now medium and the third is still small. The air around Alton seems to be mostly burnt away as well as anything flammable.
"Gem" |
"I can't do anything for you without my alchemy kit. I also have no clue what's going on, and I'm not going into the flames without a good reason."
