Is interesting reading your fight with Yarzoth as I run my own... Think things are going a little worse for you guys although its hard to tell...
They haven't inflicted much damage on Yarzoth yet, but she hasn't managed to inflict much damage on them either, so no one really has the upper hand yet.
They are having a lot of trouble with that last skeleton though. :)
I'd suggest the skeleton fighters ignore the bones and go for Yarzoth. What's the skeleton gonna do? Rattle bones at you? Yarzoth is a much bigger ball of pain that we should get to with gusto!
That was actually my original plan but since Lorenz is most useful at range, that allows the skeleton to get all kinds of hits on him. I'd hate to have him get whittled down to death!
Douena can channel next round, barring any further spells or supernatural abilities interfering. Of course, she's had bad luck channeling underground here lately.
Ah! Looking at my last post, Makoa's bite damage is one damage die to high! It should have been a d4... :(
The attack you used the d6 on was two rounds ago and you missed on it, so no harm done. You used the correct d4 on your attack last round, which hit. :)
Be careful, I'm hoping to finish this guy off with burning hands since we (Lorenz) can't seem to hit him.
Actually, Lorenz has hit him, once! 7 hp damage with a bludgeoning weapon, it shouldn't take much to take him out at this point.
The skeleton's hurt and Urza is, too. I'm going to try to take care of both of them with a channel. Save your burning hands for Ieana and her snake. (Or, heck, we've still got a gibbering mouther outside the door we're going to have to deal with when we're already depleted!)
Unless, of course, Douena's recent rotten streak of channel rolls continues....
EDIT: *sigh* Yeah, there it is. Burning hands away. Try not to hit Lorenz.
Hey, Mahjik, I'm not sure, but are you applying a -1 to your rolls due to Str damage? Poison does ability damage, so until you've taken 2 points of it, you don't actually have a penalty.
Diseases, poisons, spells, and other abilities can all deal damage directly to your ability scores. This damage does not actually reduce an ability, but it does apply a penalty to the skills and statistics that are based on that ability.
For every 2 points of damage you take to a single ability, apply a –1 penalty to skills and statistics listed with the relevant ability.
IIRC, you only took 1 point of Str damage. I think that last hit in your flurry should have been a 20 without the flanking bonus rather than a 19, which might hit.

Yeah, it looks like he has been applying an unnecessary -1 penalty to his attack rolls (I really need to pay closer attention to the base rolls and bonuses rather than just looking at the final result). Even if the poison damage actually lowered the score, a 13 dropping to a 12 would not lower the bonus to hit. And it does so happen that a 20 would hit. I'll apply the damage to Yarzoth.
Of course, he's now taken a second point of Str damage, so he will have a -1 penalty from now on. :)

Too bad but I gotta mention that the "-1" is from applying power attack; so it is still just a "19".
Yeah, I was just comparing the line on your attack after being bitten (+4 -1) to another attack that was +5 -1. I guess that was the -1 for flurrying vs. a single strike. I never play monks so I didn't recognize it. Sorry.
But slowly the awesome that is Mahjik is infiltrating your head, and you try to deny it, but you've got a secret urge to play a monk. Yes. Yes you dooooooo
Oooh, I hadn't seen a link to the map before. You find it all works ok? I forgot to add the room Makoa is in, oops.
Edit: Sorry for initially posting in the IC.
I only just recently started linking to the map. I'm really not sure why I didn't do so earlier. It makes things a little easier for everyone. Of course, people do still need to be logged in to see the map.
The map has been working out great. It wasn't hard and didn't take long to draw in the room that Makoa's now in. Thanks so much again for providing us with it!
No problem :), i'll probably put it into the SS forum once i've polished it a little. Might only be useful for PbP or play-over-email, but it still helps people out.
It'd be really useful for projectors at the gaming table too, AK.
I don't know what it is about MapTool but it confounds me. I've been trying to put together tactical encounter maps for a tabletop game using a projector all weekend and I just can't get it to do what I want. I know if I could just figure it out the program would be perfect for what I want but I just feel like an old fart trying to figure out that fancy computer program whenever I mess with it.
Just ran across this spell. Now I've got to get Douena some cleric levels so she can get 2nd spells. :)
Okay, does anyone else who has the Ultimate Combat book or pdf think the goblin that loses it's dogslicer to that spell think it is so sad it's Paizo's cutest goblin?
I think Desna's trying to tell Douena that she should devote more levels to her... ;)
I'm trying to get a level here! The next one's definitely cleric. But Desna's going to have do something about that big blank space at 2nd level cleric that competes with evasion and fast stealth at 2nd level rogue. :)
Just to clarify, once we get up in the little room, the only light is what's coming through the keyhole, correct? So only the people with darkvision can actually see what's going on? I'm assuming Douena is going to have to solidify and cast light if there's anywhere for her to land.

That's correct. It hasn't come into play yet, since everyone currently up there has darkvision. However, when Pezock arrives next round, everyone will quickly learn how dark it is. :)
Yarzoth hisses and steps back into the mist that is Pezock (5-ft step to B 40). She wipes a bloody hand over the lips of the bas-relief demon woman on the wall. She resumes a misty form.
I'm considering putting my foot over the hole to block so Yarzoth can't get out that way, but there are two problems with that.
1. There may be other ways out.
2. Douena will whine because someone didn't let her in the room.
Decisions, decisions...
Makoa can't see Douena and doesn't know she's on her way up. I think he would block the hole. Besides, Douena can always find something to whine about.
"Are you sure? You didn't all turn into vampires, did you?" Lorenz calls back.

"What do you mean by crowded? Should I stay here? Are there any other ways in?"

"Yes, stay there!" Douena calls back emphatically.
Ha! It'd be funny if Lorenz took Douena's 'yes' as a response to his first question rather than his last one. "Yes, we're all vampires; stay there -- we're coming for you." ;)
