Lorenz sighs and stands up, drawing his bow. "All right then, let's get moving. Let's make our way past the trap Mahjik already set off."
:P I wish we could figure out a way for Douena to disable these things from underneath. A wand of levitate would sure come in handy right now.

At least Mahjik hits things reasonably reliably. My other two pbp-monks (Melon and Melk) have a bad track record. Melon's at least just starting out. But Melk has already leveled and has failed to hit something all the way up to now. Okay, well technically he hit once, but didn't manage to overcome hardness. Oh, and once he managed to deal 1 damage (after hardness). Well done Melk. I'm proud of you.
I had a paladin in 2nd edition once who couldn't hit anything. The DM even arranged for my character to find a powerful magic sword (I think the bonus was +3, but I can't remember for sure), but all that did was ensure that my rolls averaged 3 points lower.

If anybody's interested, I have started a blog.
Okay, I clicked. Guess what jumped out at me pretty quickly? The little image in the tab seems awfully familiar...

lol - I once had a monstrous barbarian that should, on paper, tear apart enemies with his great axe. We were around level 6 at the time and I managed to have the worst attack streak ever. Over the course of 2-and-a-half sessions I didn't land a single attack. Consistently rolling 5 or less. He didn't even hit the stunned, prone enemy (curse those 1s!).
He did vindicate himself in one fell swoop though, when our GM wanted to railroad us by throwing a very high level archon with unicorn mount at us. The idea was that the three of us (only 3 PCs) should surrender and follow along. For reasons of our own we opted to fight instead - the reasons involving us siding with chaotic-good forces, rather than lawful-good ones. (Which was insanity cause we just managed to escape a series of encounters on the hairs of our teeth and were quite low on resources.) In the first round Vin Doze, son of Lee Knux, (my barbarian) got to go 2nd last - and the archon went last. The unicorn and my fellow party members did not achieve much; but when Vin acted, he moved right up to the archon and cleaved him in half with his great axe.
Well, what happened was that he crit for a lot of damage - but not enough to actually kill the archon. But we did play with massive damage rules, and it was enough to trigger the roll. The GM said: "He cannot fail" and chose to roll on the table. And rolled a 1.

My luck with attacks tend to average out pretty evenly with all characters. But I very, very rarely ever get critical confirmations, a trend that has continued online.
I also have a habit of rolling three 1's on a D20 in a roll. It happens at least one in almost every RL game.

We could teach each other things! Douena can teach astrology, Mahjik weird sayings that may or may not mean something, Lorenz finesse, Urza can teach us arcane lore, Makoa can teach survival skills, and Pezock can teach us how to make up strange nicknames!

"Don't get beaky with me you overgrown pigeon!"
"Pigeon? PIGEON?" Pezock screeches. "I AM NOT A BIRD!" Ironically, his squawking voice sounds more and more like a bird the louder he gets.
I have thrown the first punch! Bring it bird boy!

Douena tosses her newly lit bone chip down the corridor. The corridor extends about 30 feet or so before ending in a 5-ft alcove. Six other alcoves (three on each side) line the corridor. It's possible one or more of these alcoves actually open into further corridors. Moving quietly down the corridor, she sees that the first few alcoves, although dark and difficult to see into, seem to be nothing more than alcoves. However, as she reaches her light chip, she sees that the final eastern alcove is actually the entrance to another, similar corridor. The alcove to the west and the north are empty except for a couple pieces of rotted wood.
The corridor runs east (with a single alcove in its north wall) for 20 feet or so and opens into a large, apparently bare chamber (although she cannot see all the chamber). There appears to be another passage running south out of the chamber.
Back in the battle with the skeleton, Urza fires off another beam that goes well above the head of the skeleton.
Lorenz continues to wait.
Next Up: Mahjik, Skeleton, Pezock, Makoa, Douena, Urza, Lorenz (subject to delayed action).
Map Updated
Map update didn't take, Navior. I'm still seeing the previous round. Of course, I think Douena's the only one who moved so it doesn't affect the battle.

Navior, have you seen the new changes that were made? They're pretty cool. Anyway, I'm going to be off-line for the night, so this is a heads up in case my turn comes around before tomorrow morning.
Umm... I'm actually not sure what you're referring to. The new changes to what?

This. :) Check out the Campaigns tab. If you click on the campaign name, each campaign has its own page with tabs for game thread, discussion thread, etc.

Oh wow. That's pretty neat!
I see they're still working out a few kinks. In the players and characters sections, it lists even people who have just popped into a campaign to dot it for reading and such. A Snooty Gnome shows up as a character in the We Be Goblins game, for example. Hopefully, they'll make it possible to edit that.
Overall, I like it!

I don't think Gary is really all that familiar with the way the Play-by-Post fora roll: GM changes and lurking dots and all. He said this is a preliminary roll-out and they'll be making changes based on feedback. There have already been some requests made in the Website Feedback section. You ought to ask about a way for the GM to exclude lurkers, etc., there.

Personally i'm mildly irritated they didn't ask for help and features it would need from the PbP community to begin with. Its always been very clear its a bit of a mystery to 99% of the staff.

I briefly wondered why Navior didn't connect our recruitment thread to the campaign before I remembered we were all originally rejects from AK's recruitment thread. :)
I am also astonished that a GM who abandoned a PbP game I was in without a word of apology or explanation (although he continued posting elsewhere on the messageboards) has now gone to the trouble to set it up with the new campaign management tools as an inactive campaign. After two years, he now wants to lay claim to it? How terribly brazen.

Yeah, I've never actually run any recruitment threads for any of my pbps. The closest was jumping into AK's to put this game together.

I don't understand DMs who disappear without explanation (especially if they keep posting elsewhere). I suppose they don't want to be embarrassed by admitting they no longer have the time or inclination to run the game, but honestly, I'd be more embarrassed by leaving without saying anything (especially if I were still posting elsewhere on the boards). But to then lay claim to it two years after abandoning it is pretty brazen.

30 Intimidate at 2nd level... yes, I think I can get close to that. I got a +35(or close) with an 8th level character. I could have gotten it higher too.
2 Rank
5 Charisma(assumes 18 with a +2 racial)
3 Class Skill
2 Half-Orc
3 Skill Focus
1 Trait
2 + 5 + 3 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 16
Later on Intimidating Prowess, size bonus, higher stats, Wisdom from Inquisitor levels, and favored class bonuses can be added in! Yeah for being really scary! >:D

Yeah! That's like telling a 2nd-level character a 30 Intimidate fails!
shishishi - I threw you a bone by allowing the Intimidate in the first place; and used it as a circumstance bonus for the Diplomacy check. Even then it wasn't enough. Hypothetically speaking the DC can be reached at level 2. Especially when you have Inspire Competence and an aid check to help you out. Then maybe an 18 to 20 (natural roll) could be enough.
