Okay, first up will be character generation. I won't be able to start the actual adventure for a few days yet, but once the characters are ready, we can start with a bit of roleplay getting-to-know-one-another stuff.

Character creation rules:
Level 1
20-point buy.
Roll starting wealth as per the core rules using the board's dice roller.
Max hp at first level. Roll future levels. If you are unhappy with roll, you can reroll, but if you do so, you must take the results of the second roll.

For maps and handouts and such things, for my other game, I've been using a website set up through Google sites, and that has been working out really well. So I'll set up a similar site for this game. I'll need to give each of you access to the site through e-mail. Rather than have everyone post the e-mail addresses on here and risk everyone getting spammed, please send me an e-mail to the address in the spoiler below. Let me know which character you are in the e-mail.

Navior's e-mail:
mrayjohnson at gmail dot com

I probably won't have the site up until Monday or so, but I'll send out the invites as soon as it's ready.

For examples of how I handle combat and pretty much everything else, please check out my Age of Worms game.

Male Half-Orc Barbarian(Totem Warrior/Invulnerable Rager) : 2 Druid(Wolf Shaman) : 4

Equipment Funds: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4) = 12 x 10 = 120gp.

Email sent as well.

Now that I've got that out of the way, it's time to go to sleep.

Male Human (Kelishite) Mounted Fury Barbarian 2

Rolling for Aakif's starting wealth:

3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2) = 13 x10 = 130 gp.

Ignore Aakif's equipment and traits sections for now. I'm going to sleep on whether to give him just a weapon and armor or switch to the Boarded in Cheliax trait so he can actually afford other stuff, too. The rest of his character sheet should be good to go, though.

EDIT: And if Makoa is being built as a Barbarian, we have zero characters who have any healing abilities at all. I'm all for not needing a dedicated healer, but not having any capability to heal is going to be trouble, especially in a 6 person party.

Worth pointing out that Douena's destined to be a multiclass cleric/rogue. I originally planned for her to take cleric first, but rogue seemed to fit better with the backstory. It might be a good idea to make her a cleric first, however, for practical reasons. Thoughts?

Grand Lodge

Rolling for gold 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7 x 10 = 70

Sending email

Male Human Traveler / 8

Starting wealth for Lorenz Aeryson:

5d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 1, 1) = 13 x 10 = 13 x 10 = 130

Sending email and will be getting character posted tomorrow (or later today, really).

Werehare Inquisitive 3/ Seeker 3/ Bard 3

I noted that when putting the party together. Makoa also mentioned the possibility of being a druid instead of barbarian (although preferring barbarian). However, I don't want to force anyone to go a route that they don't want. The party may end up being low on healing compared to a typical party, but there are ways of dealing with that. A little more caution might be needed from the group, but it can be done.

So I leave it up to you and Makoa to decide what you want to do.

Male Half-Orc Barbarian(Totem Warrior/Invulnerable Rager) : 2 Druid(Wolf Shaman) : 4

I could easily go Druid(Wolf Totem of course). At first level, it's no great undetaking to rebuild a character, and I'd only need to add a sentence to his background saying he travels with a Wolf.

If you'd rather start off as a Rogue, I'll go druid now and take some Barbarian levels later on.

Male Human (Kelishite) Mounted Fury Barbarian 2

I'm cool as long as there's some healing. I didn't realize Douena was going cleric/rogue.

Anyway, after thinking about it, I've decided to switch Aakif to having Boarded in Cheliax. That way he can actually afford a falchion (seriously, 75 gold?) and can start with a mount, which makes sense for the character.

I'll be adjusting his profile here over the next half hour or so.

Male Human (Kelishite) Mounted Fury Barbarian 2

OK, Aakif should be ready to go.

Db3, if you want to run a single-class character, I'll start Douena out in cleric. She's destined for multiclassing anyway, so a level in, it won't matter. My original conception was that she really only took rogue levels to help her in her Desna-inspired explorations. Starting gold is the same, and since this is PfRPG and not 3.5, she can still take Disable Device and just not get the +3 for a class skill until level 2. That'll give the group some channeling to start out with anyway.

Starting gold 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 2) = 11 x 10 = 110

Stupid 1 :P Looks like I have a choice between masterwork thieves' tools and, y'know, a weapon.

Weapons are overrated!

...

says the guy with a 75 gp sword.

I'd bet the monk would agree, though :p I so wish Drunken Master and Monk of the Empty Hand were usable together, just so I could make a guy who gulps down an entire tankard of ale then beats his enemies over the head with the tankard.

Y'know, seeing as how I'm a gnome with an 8 Strength and would be spending good money to do 1d3-1, I'm going to agree with you. Thieves' tools it is!

Remember, clubs, quaterstaffs, and slings(but not sling bullets) are free!

If you're okay with, I'd like to stay a Barbarian for now. I play too many druids as it is(I love the idea of bringing all of Nature down on my foes)! XD

Yay :) - it's good to have some monk love.

Starting gold 1d6 ⇒ 2 x 10 = 20gp

Lucky monk is lucky :P - though I ran into an interesting predicament with a different monk (zen archer) - at level 1 the monk cannot afford a bow. Well, with average wealth a short bow is still in the cards.

@Navior:

Thanks for accepting Mahjik. Before I work out the mechanical details of the character, please let me know what is considered legal for your pbp. Is it Core (and APG) only? Society legal, or maybe Paizo-published legal? Something else?

My primary reason for asking is to determine if the Guided weapon property is legal (as it makes a big difference for monk builds). And whether factions (specifically the Kusari-Gama, from the Faction Guide) are in play and something that Mahjik could belong to.

Pretty much anything Paizo-published is legal. It's a good idea to double-check with me about non-core products, but I'll probably allow it. Guided weapon property is fine. Factions are fine, too. I doubt the Kusari-Gama figures much in the adventure path, if at all (since the last 5 parts are not yet available though, I can't say for sure, so you never know), but if you'd like this to be a part of your background, I'm willing to work something in to give the opportunity for advancement.

Just wanted to let you know that with all the connection issues with Paizo over the weekend I haven't quite been able to update all the details of the character quite yet. But since I seem able to post at the moment (knock on wood) I'm hoping to have it complete in just a few more hours.

Sorry for the delay!

No worries. There's no rush. At the moment, I'm expecting to start the game on Wednesday or Thursday at the latest (when I've got the initial maps prepped). I'll open the main thread tomorrow, however, so people can roleplay a bit of getting to know each other before we start into the main adventure.

I've just about got the Google site ready, and I'll be sending out the invites to it soon (still need an e-mail from Lorekeeper).

Male Half-Orc Barbarian(Totem Warrior/Invulnerable Rager) : 2 Druid(Wolf Shaman) : 4

Roleplay, huh?

"Looks like there are some weaklings in this pack..."

Nah, that just a little mean to say out loud.

Sorcerer (Draconic) 6 Dragon Disciple 1; AC 15 (19), FF 13 (17) T 12; HP 62/62;Perception +6; Spells Lvl 3: 3/4; Lvl 2: 5/6; Lvl 1: 7/7; Cantrip: at will

I still need to do equipment and a few odds and ends but here's Urza.

I've sent out the invites to everyone I've received an e-mail from (just waiting for Lorekeeper). The site is based on a template created by a messagebard member (sorry, can't remember who). At the moment, it's not much more than the bare template, but I'll be adding maps, handouts, and such to it as we go along. You're also free to add details about your characters and anything else you want to the site.

Female Gnome Cleric 4/ Rogue (burglar) 3

Douena's character sheet is done.

EDIT: Forgot traits. If the boards stay up, she'll be done in a minute.

Sovereign Court

Good luck to you all guys, i'll keep an eye on the thread.

Have a great game :)

Thanks! And thanks for doing the initial work putting this group together for me! I'll keep an eye on your game, too. Least I can do. Have a great game!

Anyone else having trouble signing into google docs?

Strange, I'm not having any problems. Hopefully, whatever you're encountering will clear itself up soon. If it doesn't, let me know, and if anyone else is having difficulties let me know, too.

Male Human (Andoran) Fighter Lvl 5

I'm not having any problems with Google docs. I'm using it right now, in fact.

Lorenz's character sheet is virtually done. I'm still finalizing the equipment list and I need to pick another trait but otherwise it's pretty much good to go.

Wow, it is incredibly difficult to find an avatar that looks like a friendly, small Vudrani. This will have to do - I settled for an almost-smiling Vudrani.

The profile should be ready for inspection - and ready for play, barring problems :)

Yeah, I had a beast of a time finding a suitable avatar for Aakif, too. This one is the best I could find, but the image link in the profile is closer (minus the fur hood).

The google page for this pbp looks awesome. I've posted Mahjik's profile on there as well now :D

Just in the interests of giving credit where credit is due, the template was made by Can I Call My Guy Drizzt? I've admired it for a while, although I've never felt like I knew enough about web pages to set one up myself. Thus far, it doesn't seem too scary, though.

That was the one, thanks!

Google Sites are actually very simple to set up and use. You don't have to know any coding. You can just click and choose themes if you want. Editing pages is pretty simply, too. If you want to add any information about your character, you can just click the edit button on the particular page, add in the text, and hit save.

I've been experimenting a bit and have a ...colorful... character sheet. It's quite fun, I see Aakif caught the colorbug too ;)

Male Human (Andoran) Fighter Lvl 5

Your character sheet on the Google site is great, Mahjik. I hope you won't mind my imitating your set-up; greatest form of flattery and all that.

Navior, I'm not as familiar with the Golarion campaign world as I'd like to be. I bought the book last week but I haven't had the chance to finish reading it yet. Most of my gaming has been in homebrew's previously.

Anyway, I'm not sure what nation/ region Lorenz is from yet. He's too cheerful to be from Cheliax. I was thinking of Andoran or Taldor. Do you (or anyone else) have any suggestions?

Male Half-Orc Barbarian(Totem Warrior/Invulnerable Rager) : 2 Druid(Wolf Shaman) : 4

Just going off the pic you chose, what about Tian?

Male Human (Andoran) Fighter Lvl 5
Makoa Wolf'sKin wrote:

I hadn't realized the pic I chose was Tian. I was just trying to find a human pic that wasn't angry or cartoony and that was the best I was able to find. It's amazing how hard it is to find a happy Avatar pic.

Sovereign Court

If it helps, when I read your backstory I immediately thought of Andoran.

I agree with Alexander that Andoran fits well. Taldor could also work. While the picture has a bit of a Tian look to it, it's generic enough that it can fit a lot of regions.

Male Human (Andoran) Fighter Lvl 5

Cool. I'll stick with Andoran then, and study that chapter a little more carefully next time I have a chance to read it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Makoa, I've just been going over your character sheet. I realize it's not completely done yet, and that's okay, but I've noticed a couple of things.

First, you have 3 points left for ability scores! Removing the racial bonus to Str, you have three 14s (5x3=15), two 12s (2x2=4), and an 8 (-2). 15+4-2=17.

Also, barbarians don't have Stealth as a class skill, so you shouldn't have the +3 bonus there.

You still need a feat and equipment, but I'm sure you're aware of those.

Otherwise, looks good!

Douena, just a couple notes:

Your speed should just be 20 ft. I think maybe you got mixed up by the agile feet ability of the Travel domain, but the door sight ability from the Exploration subdomain replaces that.

Your BAB should be +0. All your attack bonuses are calculated correctly, though, so I'm wondering if maybe you included the size bonus with the BAB?

You have too many spell-like abilities. The magical linguist ability replaces both gnome magic and illusion resistance, so you don't get dancing lights, ghost sound, prestidigitation, and speak with animals.

Otherwise, everything looks good!

Lorenz, you seem to have forgotten your favoured class bonus. Otherwise, the character looks good.

Just a general note to everyone (a couple of you have done this already):

Can you make a note of where you've put favoured class bonuses and what your favoured class is (if you're going to multiclass). At first level, it's pretty easy to figure out where the bonuses are, but as you get to higher levels (which this campaign will hopefully last long enough to achieve), it gets more difficult, particularly if you don't always put the bonus in the same place. Thanks!

I made the character in HeroLab, so I guess the software shoved the size bonus in with the BAB. I'll fix it and remove the extra spell-like abilities (had to do that by hand since racial options aren't implemented yet in HeroLab).

I think I (and the software, since subdomains are supposed to be done) disagree on the base speed, though. The extra 10 feet base speed is part of the overall Travel domain, and not part of the agile feet power, which only deals with ignoring difficult terrain. Since each subdomain replaces only "a granted power and a number of spells" (emphasis mine), I think the base speed bonus remains, like the class skills and bonus feats some of the other domains grant outside of a named power.

I make a point of it only because so much of her career is going to involve running away. :)

I noted it on the Google Sites character page, but Aakif is putting his Favored Class bonuses into skill points. He'll do that every level, and he'll stay a single-classed character.

You're right, I had. I'd added it to his hit points and have just updated the character sheet to make that crystal clear.

You can chose a trait that grants stealth as a class skill, if you want :)
