I dunno ... I hear an awful lot of nonconsensual nose-bopping goes on.
:( I'm already the worst!
Hi, Gav :)

I had initially made Kilo's background attached to Nalo (also to take advantage of the Connection: Pick one other PC. You have trained with this character so much that if the two of you stand back to
back in a fight, you both gain a +1 bonus to Speed defense tasks., but after coming across your mention of no one in the group knowing each other, I had dropped that.
I think I will probably keep that attachment to Nalo, if it's okay, and hook back up with her before the boat departs...or would it be better for your story after? I should have a little posting time again later tonight.
Unless I hear otherwise before I talk to Mana, I will assume we will meet before the boat departs....unless it does...in which case I will wait. xp

Would be fine by me. I kind of started it on my own, assuming Mana and I were going to continue the post I started in the city. (She ignored it)
Anyways, I'm perfectly happy deleting the post I put up last night or continuing on. I really thought Nalo was going to stop Kilo though... *sighs*

He refuses to answer, but the pirate at Panamax's feet jerks upright. "If you turn the device off, the wall will return. Just make sure you're on one ship or the other when you do."
as someone who was trying to think of ways to plug the hole I'm a little sad it is that easy

To me it's so much more important to enjoy the game then to get the rules right.
You're doing a great job!

Also, thanks :) I'm definitely not a rules person, so getting up and going with a new system is more challenging for me than I was expecting. Thanks for your patience!

I think that was everything I wanted to bring up. Again, as GM, feel free to make your own decision now that you have my viewpoint as well.

"The duplicate is a level 2 nonplayer character with 6 health."
So technically, one hit from Kilo at 8 points of damage, if he makes both attacks, would have obliterated her. I'm okay with that if he wants to turn around and take her out; I had initially expected the sparring session to be more RP than a chance for us to practice the system (so I made the doppelganger a little more sturdy than she would be in normal combat).
Your point is a fair one. This game isn't designed with the idea of having a lot of combat in mind, and it was never my intent to punish you for creating a strong Glaive. :)
In your in game post you said you'd take minimum 8 rounds to take Tavene down to 0, which is true, but NPCs/monsters you'd come across in the field won't have 30+ health unless they're pretty beefy. 'Throw away' NPCs are going to have anywhere from 1-6 health, maybe closer to 10 if they're really sturdy.
Let me think on the point about whether fighting unarmed counts as two weapons. I'll do some digging around the core book. I'm a little worried about Kilo taking out groups of enemies with single punches, but I can boost health a little if it becomes a problem.

All good. Someone told me about that, but Kilo had already decided on a strategy of taking out the main Tavene first on the off chance that doing so would cause the duplicate to disappear. I figured if something came up in game to cause him to reassess I might take advantage of it, but if not, no worries. His main focus (not Numenera focus) is to find the strongest warriors/creatures there are and learn and improve at this point. He does not expect to be the "strongest warrior on the planet" out of the gates. xp

So according to ~the rules~, there are four recovery rolls made. One action, ten minutes, one hour, ten hours. Considering what you guys dealt with and the time at which you arrived in Keford, I would say you got all four recovery rolls.
I'm even okay saying you're all healed 100%, considering none of you got stomped in that previous combat.
But if you'd like to roll some dice to be accurate, I'm open to playing it how you like.

The book outlined specific results that can happen depending on which pool you deplete, which seemed complex but interesting. Like if you take all your points from Speed, then when you're injured or close to death, you can't move at all. Vs. if you're close to death but still have speed points, you can crawl away.

Technically yes. The pool you choose to make an Effort from should correspond with the task you're trying to accomplish. If you're trying to dodge an attack, which is a Speed roll, you would spend points from the Speed pool. Likewise, if you get attacked by something physical, it should come out of your Might pool, where a mental attack reduces your Intellect pool.
