Surprise round

Nethan casts a force screen around himself as Elise casts truestrike. They ready themselves for perhaps a tough fight. The two martials spring into the fray like they normally do, two stars flying out piercing the humanoid in what Amelia hopes is non-lethal areas. Dreyyn comes barreling through a moment later smashing into the creature as well.

@Al: I'd say there's at least some falling damage since the water would get fall into the pit quite fast. Though there is rules for falling into water now that I see it, which is some non-lethal damage. I'll just take it as 40ft for simplicity sake on the calculation.

Waiting on Al, the siphon will swim out taking damage on the way and the centaur will move 50ft back and use an SLA on himself.

As I didn't remember my 40' speed is without armour, no grappling this turn :P

Elise bursts out of the bushes and dashes towards the dwarf, swinging her poleaxe in a wide arc. She aimed the back of the head towards the dwarves knees - they were know for their stability but with the magic empowering her that wouldn't be nearly enough to safe him!

Al concentrates for a moment as he steps back into the trees. His eerie blue eyes glow brighter, and his mind opens to those around him.
Casting detect thoughts. Any of these things 'not thinking' (immune to mental, presumably) and he'll relay that information to the others in Taldane.


Round 1

While the enemies are still caught flat footed the two quick martials go to work. Dreyyn continues to score hits on his opponent while Amelia's starknives go out in a smattering volley. Two of them manage to connect with the centaur before it runs a little out of the way and casts something on itself from the sanctity of the trees.

Alþórel and Nethan cast some spells on themselves for the coming fight. Alþórel after detect thoughts has been cast can tell only the siphon is mindless, he relays this to the rest of the group.

The siphon swims out of the pit clipping on the side of the spikes as it does.

Elise then charges forward tripping the dwarf like water creature with ease.

It gets up a moment later and takes a step forward to meet the menancing woman face to face. Provokes twice if you have Combat ref

The remaining one facing off against Dreyyn uses the water around it to attempt to squeeze Dreyyn in a grapple.

The water creature just about manages it, Dreyyn can feel the water getting under his armour and the scalding pain of boiling water start to seep in.

As the dwarf gets up Elise takes advantage of his momentary distraction sweeps at his weapon with her axe. She half expected it just to pass harmlessly trough, but *if* she got rid of it grappling would be so much easier - not to mention less painful!

In a twist of Fate, Dreyyn seems to slip away from the grasp of the water creature! Immediate Action to use the Deck of Fate to replace its grapple roll with a 7, which misses.

She then fires a flurry of starknives at the same water creature, now dealing lethal damage. If the creature happens to fall unconscious, she redirects attacks against Elise's target (at -3 to attack, -1 to damage).

Who's taken hit point damage?


Dreyyn took some damage though that's been negated due to the deck of fate. So you could still do an action since no one needs to heal, though they might in just a moment! (So if you want to delay then heal go for it!)

Amelia flips a card out and it's as if the creature never even moved to grab Dreyyn. Taking this time the pair of them knock the creature down. It still seems whole so it might have been incapacitated though they aren't sure if unconscious is the word for it. coloured in orange now.

Amelia quickly throws two more knives at the dwarf but they don't manage to get their target as they narrowly pass it.

Elise attempts to disarm the dwarf though to little avail, Elise is slightly taken aback by the creatures' lack of concern for danger.

The thought is abruptly cut short as the centaur fires a pair of icicles shaped like arrows at Amelia.

Both arrows aimed at her lower torso, they pass right through her as she feels frost take hold.

The siphon puts some distance from the pit and splashes a scalding torrent at Elise.

Elise shields her eyes though the heat still gets through to her fingers.

fire damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9

With her natural resilience however, she shrugs off the searing water.

To Elise and Nethan(?), the dwarf is obviously going to attempt to go toe-to-toe with Elise so others plan your next actions too!

"Is that thing *running*?!" Elise yells out in a mix of anger and bemusement as the siphon draws her attention. But that wasn't her current problem - that pesky "dwarf" was! With a quick step back in the shallow water she focused her fury into the earth beneath him and called upon it to root him into place!

The water dwarf is ensared by Elise's spell as he is rooted to the ground for a time. Unable to do much he throws an axe made of water at Elise.

Though the elemental seems angry enough to score a hit though not a very strong one.

As the centaur attacks, Amelia plays a little trick! On the second attack, Amelia vanishes and appears next to the centaur, while a mirror image of herself is destroyed. Spending a Mythic Point to activate Mirror Dodge, thereby negating the second attack. Amelia will still take 14 damage.

Finding her movements severely slowed by the ice, Amelia attempts to couterattack, trusting in her offense to compensate for her lack of defense. Using ranged attacks in melee, but will not draw AOO thanks to Point Blank Master.

Nethan yells out, "If you need help, speak up!"

After Elise's warning, Nethan spots the siphon on dry land and notices that it is within range of him attacking it. He then moves forward and swings the massive crystal sword at the siphon, Ha HAAA!!!

Perhaps if Al is trying to penetrate the Siphon's thoughts, this attack may lower its mental protection? I'll move my token up to the Siphon when I can unless someone else wants to move it for me?

Amelia darts forward after blinking out the way of the second shard she hounds the centaurs scoring three hits after her first is dodged.

Nethan goes after the siphon scoring a large hit from his crystal blade then Dreyyn joins the fray, leaving the creature reeling after his own barrage of strikes.

The centaur then sweeps it's bow attempting to trip Amelia with a mighty swing.

Since it's come up a few times in this fight already, I'm autoconfirming your crits. Remember M6 you don't need that confirmation roll, monsters do, you guys don't.

Elise smacks the dwarf once quite hard then the dwarf blocks the second strike with a waterborne handaxe that he then throws at Elise. He provokes so I'll take the top roll as if you are doing non-lethal again?

In truth it is a lie aimed at the centaur - both to damage its resolve and hope to tease out some morsel of information on who it is they seek to send. Deep in his heart, Alþórel feels he knows who it is, but hopes to be proven wrong.

Round 4

Between Dreyyn and Nethan only Dreyyn manages to land a blow though it is not the divisive one yet. The creature appears to be worse for wear but still rolling with the punches.

Meanwhile, Amelia continues to hound the centaur but only one strike manages to land on the large creature. However, Alþórel confounds the centaur with his bold claim.

Alþórel gets some odd but clear thoughts. How? This world yet stands! He can not have made it back yet? Could he? The Centaur's mind is flustered by Alþórel assertion.

The centaur falls into the same motion as before trying to trip up Amelia, his mind focused on other things.

"Ouch!" says Amelia as she falls on her bum. She decides she really ought to get out of this situation. Fortunately, in her time of peril, she feels blessed with new gifts of magic. Her visible form seems to melt away into the surrounding landscape like a chameleon, until she's nowhere to be seen! She then gets up and takes a swipe at the Centaur before stepping away.

Swift Action with Mythic Point to use Vanishing Move (i.e. Greater Invisibility) for 6 rounds. She then stands up, attacks, and takes a 5-foot step.

Dreyyn and Nethan continue to miss the siphon by slipping on mud.


Catching the centaur unaware it goes down with one last well-placed strike.

Alþórel moves the foes away from the water and the two swordsmen flail a little more at the siphon.

As a last ditch effort the siphon tries to push both of the attackers away.

Pleased that the centaur was now subdued, Amelia helps fight the siphon that was still thwarting Dreyyn and Nethan. Her starknife seems to appear repeatedly out of thin air as it flies toward her target!
