"All of you, come here. Cooperate and we will let you live. We only need one of you, though. Test our will, and you'll face our wrath."

Al readies to use Mythic power to cast Ice Spears if he needs to block a door or two in a hurry

The one making a move is a one beside the glass wall, the group makes some very intimidating arguments. The Eldred shuffles about a bit and keeps looking down at the floor. Dreyyn notices that all of the others suddenly seem very afraid, one of them is just shaking his head furiously. The Eldred leaps into the vat of blood and the group hears a wail of pain.

A few moments later a hulking creature comes out of the vat of blood, it is a similar red to the blood. A bipedal creature with a serpentine body, two large arms appearing from the side and a shark-like head that is eyeless. The wail turns into a roar and the creature begins to step out from the vat.

The other Eldred in the room are stepping back away from what is going on, seemingly not wanting to help. They seem like they want to bolt to get help but the group have been quite convincing in the danger of doing that too. They stand frozen not wanting to move anywhere.

edit: * I just remembered that the nephilim of everblight isn't actually bloodborne... :P

Eh not quite Zuriel level, think more like a carnivean.

I was going to link one of those, but they have too many limbs : )

Anyway, I'm glad it wasn't like a scythean - I wouldn't want to bet on the chain attack with Elise AC :P

question - where this monster of yours inspired by everblight or was it your own mad geniousness ?^^

Mix of both actually, you wanted to fight a dragon eventually. So I changed some of the background slightly of the bloodborne things I had going into this. Just so happens that it ends up very similar to everblight, so might as well go full hog since the everblight monsters look rather cool.

Round 1
I forget if people have powers against Mythic creatures, this is a mythic creature so if you got abilities for them feel free to use em!

Nethan manifests some defences, preparing for the worst. Amelia throws out 4 star knifes. Unfortunately only her fleet charged attack manages to pierce its thick hide. The other starknives ricochet off its skin and land nearby. It roars as its anger builds.

Spook runs up to join the group in the fight, he currently doesn't have his weapon and holds out his arm towards Nethan who has the bow on his person. "Now might be a time for some support don't you think?" Spook is using his standard to take the bow from you, if you accept to give it to him anyway.

Dreyyn to post before the Vat monster goes.

Round 1

The creature roars going into a rage, then crashes through the glass paneling separating two of the rooms. It brings down it's two hulking arms onto Elise before turning its head towards Spook, Alþórel and Nethan to spew a breath of burning acid in their direction.

Claw 1: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
Claw 2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18

Its two arms come down relatively slowly but Elise is still reeling from the large amount of glass in her face as it busted through the wall. The two claws come slashing across her body.

Nethan and Spook just about manages to duck under the burning acid whereas Alþórel isn't as lucky. Half of the damage below for passing the save. It's fire and acid if it matters for the sake of resistances.

Elise spits out a mouthful of blood at the creature, grins in fury and screams incoherently as she swings her large axe towards the creatures head. As soon as the blade of the weapon embeds itself into the monster, Elise surges forward and slashes at its belly with her claws - the weapon forgotten for now!

I assumed that Dreyyn is somewhere behind the creature to flank it, since he said he would do that (but is not moved on the map!). Otherwise, Elise herself will move around to flank using the 30' of movement from fleet charge!

Round 1

@Elise: Dreyyn has move round now but he wasn't flanking at the time of these attacks, you still managed to hit anyway.

Elise let's out a flurry of attacks on the beast not a single one missing the mark. The creature continues to rage on, eyes locked onto Elise probably to return the favour.

Alþórel gets out of the way of the massive creature and quickens the parties actions.

End of Round

Round 2

Nethan continues to cast defensive spells to make sure he lives through this fight.

Dreyyn then leaps into a flanking position beyond the creature's notice he lines himself up for a strike, though it fails to pierce the hard skin of the creature. Reflavouring of the miss, as I don't think this creature would be nimble enough to dodge.

Amelia lets out another flurry of stars, this time all of them manage to pierce the creature's skin. Only burrowing in a short way but every damage is going to count for something against a creature like this.

Spook moves next to the other Eldred getting out of the vat monster's way. He smacks the Eldred in the gut and it topples over and it begins to glow. He says a word of incantation and fires off two arrows. Energy leaps from the Eldred's body on the floor and imbues the arrows as they fly.

will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

The arrows manage to make their target though the damage seems superfluous. A surge of energy rushes over the creature and it flinches, it manages to shrug off most of what Spook was able to muster.

The creature loses 2 AC

The creature lets out a large roar and bears down on Elise. As its claws come down they begin glowing a tinge of blue.

attack (bite): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32

As both the melee combatants are struck they feel that their life is being drained by the vat monster. Once it pulls away its claws the glow seen from the moment before is lost.

Given how it's described, I'm guessing that it has 10ft reach. Not sure he has enough movement to do it.

This will teach me to rely too much on fire

Alþórel speaks a word and surrounds himself with a shell of force, then starts running around the creature, towards Amelia.

@Al: I thought you rolled a 14 earlier for it? Or was that for something before combat?

Alþórel slides underneath the creature enchanting his sword as he goes through, standing on the other side further boxing the vat monster between the party's might.

The Eldred that Alþórel cries out to replies stuttering in fear. "I ... I... don't know to ..st..stop it. They're co..control...ed..by." One of the other Eldred begins shaking his head and waving his arms at him, then he stops talking.

Elise battered and beaten counters with claws of her own. Tearing into the beast as much as she can.

Dreyyn slashes and the creatures legs until they give out, it topples to its knees. The vat monster is breathing heavily and determined to finish this quick Dreyyn leaps into the air with speed only the best can match stabbing his blade through the back of its. A loud crunch fills the air and sputtering roar. The vat monster flails wildly then drops to the ground twitching, the lasts vestiges of life leaving its body.

You used up your mythic point to get through the last of its hp.

Fight over

The creature's skin begins to melt away into a very viscous red gel. Similar in colour to the blood in the vats though is solid enough that it seems to be a different substance. It leaves behind the Eldred who jumped into the vat, his skin and clothing show the marks of the recent fight. With the gaping neck that killed him seeping with blood. On him the group can see a wand strapped to his side, it looks somewhat different to the wands the group is used to seeing.

The other Eldred still are frozen in fear and are all shuffling about, staring at the floor. Seemingly hoping that this fate isn't what awaits them.

The group knows the sound of the fight must have alerted someone if they were near by, that creature was not quiet. The group should probably tread cautiously or use their time wisely before whomever else is down here catches up with them.

Cocooned within accelerated time, the world seems to slow down. Air thickens - slows limbs, makes every breath a struggle. It is in fact that that is the limit - any faster and it would be impossible to breathe. As he finally finishes sliding under the creature he pushes himself to his feet, with plenty of time to study the Eldred talking.

The creature falls, and Alþórel calls commands to the others in fast time.
"Dreyyn. Elise. Block the other Wells! Stop them from making more! Nethan! With me!"

He pushes off from the floor towards the Eldred that waved, coasting through the air until the next footfall. Then pushes off again. So easy to forget how much momentum is built up travelling like this. Easier to simply stop by kicking off the wall at his destination.

Forcing himself to speak almost comically slowly so he will sound normal, he threatens the Eldred.
"Cooperate and live. Understand I can take from your mind what I need. Read it in your blood. Force your dead body to speak. You will tell us."

"Nethan" he orders in a still slow voice "Get ready to rip out his memories."

"Now. What was that?"

As Elise pokes the corpse she notices that the wand on the body is growing brighter for a moment as the life leaves the Eldred. The wand then emits a brief flash and goes back to a resting state.

The Eldred look at each other and choose to believe the wizards' threats aren't empty. Reinforcing the checks you made earlier with the results of the fight.

"A blood servant... it was a blood servant." They cower a little. "Made from a small drop of blood from the heart .. and more blood from another donor, to form the mix. Then any life used in the process becomes a servant. The power of the heart is immense, unto that of a god. Though it does not know how to use it itself. So..so... we use it instead." The Eldred moves back a little shielding his face again. "Not without mistakes... however...it's all I know.. truly..."

"This wand ... I think it might be some sort of soul magic involved. It flashed as the 'servant' died. Better take a look at it too!"

After retriving her weapon, Elise drops her comment and moves to tie the remaining Eldred (except Spook) up. With a bit of luck, they would have time to recover the worst of their wounds before proceeding.

Elise is hurt alot, and Al is at half health. Nathan & Dreyyn escaped with minor scratches it seems . )

"Wow, you don't look too good, Elise. We're gonna need a new healing wand pretty soon!" Amelia focuses on quickly healing the wounds of her companions, and then retrieving her starknives. She really hopes the bad guys don't come soon.

Nethan lets his crystal two-handed sword hit the ground in disappointment because he just casted and manifested all those powers and spells for nothing other than maybe it looked impressive to the Eldred Alchemist. Then he sighs in partial relief that he didn't have to enter the fray and get beaten up.

After Al states wrote:
"Nethan" he orders in a still slow voice "Get ready to rip out his memories."

Nethan raises his sword at the closet Eldred and acts intimidating, "I am ready to go Al! Let's first cut their brain from their skull for easier access to their brain cells."

After the Eldred say wrote:

Nethan drops the sword making sure another one does not decide to leap into a vat for Elise's sake, "Where is the heart now Alchemist?"

Nethan looks at Elise while waiting for a response from the alchemist to see how injure she is.

Nethan was injured slightly with more like burns than scratches but compared to Elise, yes only minor scratches... LOL

Dreyyn cuts off the Eldred's routes to escape and mischief, and makes no protest when the clawmarks on his skin are healed into old yellow bruises, nearly gone.

For those running buffs, I foresee some more fights coming so those that are min/level are likely going to be running till the next combat.

The parties heals up from their wounds.

Elise I take it you've just pointed out the wand as opposed to grabbing it?

Then the alchemist replies to Nethan "The heart.. she's kept it her cell downstairs. It's..." The alchemist suddenly cuts himself off when he realises outside this room is deathly quiet. The group can tell too, there should be other guards at least shuffling about, surrounding this room. Yet there is nothing. Just an eerie silence. Then to the south, the sound of squelching abruptly fills the air, then nothing once more.

Nethan notices the Alchemist concerns and also how quiet it is, he looks to all of his adventuring friends, "My friends, I believe we have entered a new stage in our recovery. The quiet before the storm, we need to prepare ourselves." Nethan then turns back to the Eldred that answered him, "What else were you going to say Alchemist? As you were saying ... "It's"? While waiting for an answer he collects up the beakers that he was collecting before and tries to clean them of contaminates.

Amelia sneaks toward the sound to the south, hoping to scout out what's there without giving away her position. Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

"I..it's downstairs. There's a trap door further on.. that.. way.." The Eldred continues to point south.

Amelia moves forward the she begins to realise that she might not need to stay stealthy. She does so anyway just in case and finds lots of dead Eldred strewn across the place. Someone was here recently, she finds a dead Eldred next to a door to the south east and a pile of blood next to him that has been recently stepped in. The foot prints looks like skeletal humanoid prints, that go into the room adjacent to the body. Opening the door she finds the trap door the Alchemist talked about in here with the bloody footprints going down. blue square on the map.

survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

The fight does not look recent though it looks like the group didn't put up much resistance. The assault was fast and clean for the most part. There are some smashed table and glass lying about the place. The top of the trap door appears to be of the same flooring as the rest of the ground. Seems to be it was hidden. Considering the group heard a splash presumably from those footprints, it means that the trap door must have been recently discovered.

Amelia remembers Spook said that there are others after this girl. Xanroa warned of other dangerous people out there all wanting a piece of this place. Suddenly Amelia remember the grate that had been pried open. Someone got here before them...though it may not be too late.

No, not at first. Not going to poke the wand that feeds on dying souls when I have 5 hp left ^^

"Ahhh... I feel almost like a whole new person!" Elise grins as she is healed. As Amelia taps and taps her she starts to get an uneasy feeling in her stomach. How much is left in that thing? I hope I didn't 'take' the last of it ... Seeing as Amelia manages to close the wounds of the others too she breathes a sigh of relief. Pew! Fully restored, she turns back to the curious stick in the pool of melted eldred spawn and leans in to inspect it. Unless it seems particularly scary she picks it up with her handkerchief and stoves it in her backpack. For now! I'll let Al or Nethy take a look at it later... All done, she is ready to move again with weapon in hand. As Amelia scouts ahead, she remarks - "The silence is almost eerie. Back home, that would mean that there is something scary nearby and all the animals have fled ..."

"Oh no!" Amelia's jaw drops as she sees the bodies laying all over the place. She abandons all pretense of stealth. "Something scary is nearby alright, but nobody fled in time. All the guards - the people - they're all dead! Something killed them and went down the trap door. The tracks look fresh, but we need to go stop it, before it takes the girl. Forget those alchemists, it's time to GO!"

Amelia opens the trap door and peers downward.

Nethan hurries cleaning the beakers as good as he can in hurry and places them safely into his bag of holding since there is not time to do anything else but follow, "Good, I may still get to use all of these powers I casted and manifested for the vat beast you guys slew in 20 steps (2 rounds)!" Nethan follows those in front.

Alþórel goes near white with shock as he starts to realise what these alchemists might have achieved. The effect all the more garish for the red blood from his newly healed wounds that speckles his face.

Then he hears Amelia's words.

He turns to the deformed Eldred
"Fly you fools!" and launches himself after Elise.

Elise packs away the wand for now and Nethan grabs some beakers and they dash off after Amelia. The group hurries down the trap door, they find at the bottom that it has some fairly tight corridors. I've tried to fit people in rough formation, map updated.

Though what greets them they were not expecting. They see two undead clad in armour blocking the two exits of this room. The armour is familiar, very familiar. It has the emblems of the Knights of Ozem on the breastplates, specifically with the heraldry of Aroden. The same as the knights that have been travelling with them. One undead is holding a staff while the other has a sword and shield. Behind the one to the north is an elven woman. You've been around Eldred long enough now to tell the difference, this is an elf from Golarion. The elf is wearing a sleek fitting set of elven mail with a cloak underneath and is wielding a bow. The elf is exuding power over the two undead from what the magically inclide of the group can tell.

Spook looks to be more in shock at the Elf than at the undead. "A first generation?! Here?!"

knowledge(his) Nethan: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
knowledge(his) Alþórel: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Both Nethan and Alþórel knows the magic and general garb of this foul creature in front of them. This elf is part of the Whispering Way, an ancient cabal of necromancers that date back to the age of shadows. More importantly the Whispering Tyrant, Tar-Baphon was one of their number.

The Elf sighs and begins to draw back her bow. "I'll never understood what Tar-Baphon saw in these creations, but no matter they'll just be more fuel."

A voice echoes out that appears to come from both corridors. "Don't let them through!" the voice sounds like Captain Moretti...

Before the group has a moment to think the mage attacks them, sending out a magic ray at Elise.
