Korak Fists of Fury |
Korak investigates the next door, checking for traps and trying to listen for sounds coming from the other side.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Jo. |
Jo activates the power of her sleeves to dress again a non-scorched dress.
That was not that bad, still my eyebrows almost get ligthed.
Rynjin |
Korak checks the door, and almost misses a subtle trap without Jorriko's timely intervention.
The door is rigged so that when the knob is turned, a loud horn will sound through the Crypt, alerting any creatures that may be lurking further down.
While hard to detect, this trap is trivially disabled, as all that needs to be done is to cut a small hole in the rubber, preventing the horn from sounding properly.
It lets out a forlorn, quiet honk!, and the door opens into a much wider room.
Three closed off rooms greet them, as well as a number of half-rooms formed in the areas not covered by the closed rooms. This area is covered in a different garish pattern, bright green with purple jester heads adorning the walls at random intervals.
1d3 ⇒ 1
Upon entering the room, Korak begins to hear a jaunty tune emitting from the walls, and his toes start tapping in time with the music.
Rynjin |
Jorriko searches the rightmost door, and finds nothing wrong with it. He prepares to open it, but before he can do so Korak begins dancing all over the place in a silly dance.
Will save, Korak. At least that's your better save, if I recall.
Korak Fists of Fury |
That's revenge for my "unique" joke, isn't it?
Will save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Rynjin |
Actually, I just rolled randomly to see who would get hit with it. You were up. =p
Thankfully, for everyone who has to watch, Korak gets his feet under control quickly.
However, even from the short dance, Korak seems to have been tired out. You are now fatigued for... 1d2 ⇒ 1 1 minute
Rynjin |
Jorriko's wave of energy crashes through the room, filling it to the brim.
The dolls in the corner snap their eyes open and look at Jorriko, chuckling. They seem unharmed by his burst of dark power.
Two of them look at him with very calm expressions, and begin humming a lullaby.
Two Will saves from you, please.
The other two look at Jorriko and get manic, angry expressions on their face, and growl menacingly.
Map. They're all in the same square currently, and there's 4 of 'em. Kn. Arcana to identify.
Korak Fists of Fury |
Korak opens the door as soon as he hears the noise form Jorriko's strikes. He sighs when he sees Jorriko's opponents.
"Come on, JK... Couldn't you at least wait for me to take a breather before attacking cursed toys?"
That's 2 move actions, so I guess I'll act next turn. BTW, Rynijin, how are you deciding Initiative? Just using the modifiers?
Rynjin |
Room's not big enough for a charge Jorriko. And yeah, I'm just going by the modifiers flat out. Do you think it's working so far or should I change it? I could start actually rolling Initiative, just doing it on my end before every combat, if you'd like.
Jorriko steps into range and swings his sword at the strange dolls, but fails to connect any meaningful blow on their tiny frames.
Simultaneously, Korak moves in and opens the door with a gasp, wheezing his way into the combat zone in the hopes of scoring some kills.
Korak Fists of Fury |
And yeah, I'm just going by the modifiers flat out. Do you think it's working so far or should I change it? I could start actually rolling Initiative, just doing it on my end before every combat, if you'd like.[/ooc].
I think it's working well this way. I just asked out of curiosity.
Jo. |
Wtf are those things? I mean construct, undead, monstruous humanoids...?
Kn: 1d20 ⇒ 20
(Arcane +12, Nature +8, everything else +1)
Jo cast shield on Korak (remenmber that Joriko have a +4 Ac from shield)
Jorriko Krail |
Krail has lost his cool, calm vaneer of control. He unleashes a blow with all of his might, unleashing dark fury and unholy rage.
unbridled bladedwork: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
weapon dmg: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
spell strike (ILW): 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 DC= 15
channel smite: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11 DC= 16
I know negative energy isn't effective, but a demonstration of power is needed for him to regain any sense of morale...
Korak Fists of Fury |
"Creepy bastards..."
Korak approaches the toy-creatures, drawing his bardiche as he moves. He attacks with his weapon as soon as the enemy is withing reach.
Bardiche: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
He searches his mind for memories of similar enemies, but he doesn't remember learning about killer toys anytime during his monastic training.
Kn(Nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Kn(Planes): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Kn(Religion): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Three 4s? Really? Think harder, Korak!
Rynjin |
@Jo:
Jo looks at the creatures, puzzled for a moment, as she's never seen anything quite like them.
Then it clicks, through the filter of the clown theme.
They're Soulbound Dolls! she thinks to herself.
You know pretty much everything there is to know about them. Alignment base 1/day abilities (already used on their parts), DR 2/Magic, powered by a soul gem, etc. I did modify their to-hit/damage somewhat, as I often do for non-standard parties. Otherwise they'd be a complete non-threat.
Jorriko finally manages to connect a blow against the doll.
The blade bites in deeply, and obviously harms the creature, but doesn't seem to deal as much damage as it appears to.
The creatures retaliate, swarming and surrounding Jorriko.
Two of the dolls throw themselves at Jorriko in a frothing rage, slashing their daggers wildly.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
These miss, daggers being repelled by Jorriko's armor and Jo's protective shield.
However, the other two come in, no less eager to take their pound of flesh, climbing up Jorriko's body and trying to stab their little knives right in.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
These two are much more efficient, stabbing through his defenses and drawing blood.
1d2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
1d2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
6 damage to Jorriko.
However, Korak soon steps forward, behind Jorriko, and slashes his Bardiche into the injured one, completely bisecting it and causing it to stop moving.
Rynjin |
1 or 2 = Rage Doll, 3 = Sleep Doll, since you didn't specify.
1d3 ⇒ 1
Jo looks at one of the raging dolls and tries to Daze it, hoping to get it off of Jorriko.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
The creature succeeds, barely, and keeps itself slashing at Jorriko's ankle.
Rynjin |
Jorriko swipes at the creature, but misses its tiny squirming frame.
They retaliate, swarming over him again, swinging their little knives.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Once again, the raging dolls miss Jorriko in their directionless fury, but the lullaby humming doll stabs in again, drawing more blood from Jorriko.
1d2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
2 more damage, for a total of 8. You're so f#!*ing lucky this encounter wasn't against something that can actually hit and deal damage lol.
Jo. |
Ok, can you both please kill those things? I do not want the shame of being killed by tiny dolls - I also cast daze in another doll and move action to draw my crossbow.
Korak Fists of Fury |
Korak kicks the closest doll, hoping that his new-found clown shoes are up to the task.
Clown Kick: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
"I'll give you a reason to be afraid of clowns, you freaky brats!"
Rynjin |
1d3 ⇒ 3
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Jo glares at the doll that's been gouging into Jorriko, and it immediately freezes up and stops moving.
Almost simultaneously, Korak leaps in and gives a swift kick to the thing, cracking its frame somewhat.
Rynjin |
Jorriko sends a swift and deadly slash at the nuisance of a raging doll trying to stab his ankle. The creatures body resists for a fraction of a second, before parting and spinning to smash against the wall.
Its eyes roll and mouth chatters for a few more moments, then fall silent.
The remaining rage doll looks at Jorriko in surprise, then resumes its slashing, while the other stares at the floor for a while, subdued by Jo's spell.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
The rage doll's slashes continue to go wild, however, unable to penetrate Jorriko's armor and magical protections.
Korak Fists of Fury |
tsc, tsc... Nicos keeps stealing my turn ¬¬'
Korak makes another strike with his bardiche. Hopefully it's enough to destroy the unholy construct.
Bardiche: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
¬¬'
Korak Fists of Fury |
If you are going to roll like that I might better steal all your turns :P
IIRC, I carried you guys through the last encounter all by my self. :D
Rynjin |
Jorriko sweeps his huge blade through the air, finishing the job Korak started on the lullaby doll.
The one remaining doll stands still, unable to do much but look on in enraged impotence at the enemy party.
Korak Fists of Fury |
Korak slashes at the last doll with his bardiche. Trying to make up for his missed strike.
Bardiche: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Oh, FFS! It's a doll, Korak! A freaking doll! You killed 2 stone jesters not 2min ago!
Korak Fists of Fury |
Well, they weren't stone, but I see your point. Though, is that including the +2 from Flanking? If not, it hits.
They were 3 times bigger and could breathe fire. Whatever substance composed their flesh doesn't matter! :P
Jo. |
I cast acid splash if that thing is still alive
Ranged touch attack, daño: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 111d3 ⇒ 2
Ok, that it is, this is the stupidest mission we have been in
Korak Fists of Fury |
Korak makes yet another attack with his Bardiche
Bardiche: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
"Tsc... I really should practice more with this thing. I'm way too rusty"
Rynjin |
Jo fires a blast of Acid from her fingers, but narrowly misses, sending some bubbling to the floor before it disappears shortly afterwards.
The last doll, snapping out of its stupor, puts its hand to its head and blows a raspberry at Jo.
Pointing its finger, it begins to levitate one of the small balls next to Korak, moving it up to the ceiling, then dropping it.
The ball explodes, and fills the room with a thick smoke.
Everyone in the room takes 1 fire damage. So basically, it does nothing. Unless Jo moved into the room at some point.
Jorriko and Korak take a few sweeps in the fog, but without knowing where the creature is, they have no way of hitting the tiny gremlin.
