"I fear, as members of the Myrial, captains might take it as a threat for us to request "protection" money. I'll book us passage on one of the merchant vessels, but I would rather not dirty my hands with ropes and such, so I will pay. Which of you want to join the crew for the voyage, and which will pay their way?"

How much for each of us on one of the merchant ships?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

25 gp a head, reduced to 10 if you work (since it's so short term).

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Jo complains, but she accept to go in the merchant ship. She pay the 25 gp.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Once they've made their decisions, Chimon reports back to one of the captains. He gives them the names of those of his companions who'll be working, then hands over his twenty-five gold measures.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The boat sets sail, arriving in Qadira, Katheer to be precise, after two days of sailing. Thankfully, no giant sea monsters attack the ship.

The city bustles with trade, if not quite as much as Absalom. Street peddlers line every inch of main street, hawking their wares with a rarely seen enthusiasm. The streets are incredibly crowded, even in the oppressive heat of this desert nation.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

"Should we buy a pack animal of some kind to lighten Talryn's load? I could easily provide food and water for five mules or camels."

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Jo doesn't show any disagreement with chimon Idea, She is more interested in using her Hat to make sure her attire match the fashion of the place.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Jo looks fashionable, and you buy some pack animals.

Do you have a particular plan for tracking down the golem?

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

We travel to a town/city near the Meraz desert and then start asking around.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

What exactly do you ask about?

Basic information is that it sort of wanders aimlessly, but generally does a circuit of the desert, completing it every three months or so. The creature last passed through the city you stopped in about a month ago.

There is also word that a sort of cult has sprung up around it in recent years, so it would be best to be wary of humans and other races watching over the creature.

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Well, here's the post I had drafted before the maintenance:
"Talryn, are you able to track well in sand? If not, I suggest we see if the town of Dimayen has any inkling as to the whereabouts of the golem's tower's ruins." Chimon removes his heavier outer garments, rolling up the sleeves of his white shirt and trousers. He samples the local cuisine, but sticks to conjured eggs, bread, and spinach between settlements.
"Jo, can you find out where the next area it's set to pass through is? If we move quickly, and don't get lost, we may be able to beat it."

We could try divination once we get within a week of it.

Male Oni-Spawn Tiefling Bruiser 7 - Wound 12; HP 60[74]; AC 22[23] (tch 20[18]; ff 20[21]) (+2 w/ Mage Armor); CMD 32[32] (+2 vs Grapple; +4 vs Disarm); DR 3/-; Fort +8 [+10], Ref +9; Will +9 [+11]; Darkvision, Scent, Perception +13; Sense Motive +18; Initiative +5

Well, it's not like we're in a hurry... We could wait. Or come back in 3 months.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

I don't understand what CHimon said

Male Oni-Spawn Tiefling Bruiser 7 - Wound 12; HP 60[74]; AC 22[23] (tch 20[18]; ff 20[21]) (+2 w/ Mage Armor); CMD 32[32] (+2 vs Grapple; +4 vs Disarm); DR 3/-; Fort +8 [+10], Ref +9; Will +9 [+11]; Darkvision, Scent, Perception +13; Sense Motive +18; Initiative +5

He wants to know if you can find out where the Golem will go next... If we leave now, we can get there before it does, therefore "ambushing" the golem.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Jo can only ask people, and if people don't know then Jo can find it out

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

I'm asking if you can find out(/prompting Rynjin to tell us if we know) where the golem is going to next. But waiting is fine.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

These people are unaware of its exact schedule and which towns it stops at, unfortunately.

So, waiting for a couple of months? What do you do in the meantime?

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

That is too much time. Can we find out where the tower was?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

It was thousands of years ago and not even the foundation still stands. Nobody knows where the tower was.

Which is fine, since the golem doesn't hang around there any more anyway.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Talryn can scan the desert from the sky. Jo can join him but only like 1 hour per day.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

So I'm getting conflicting plans here: Scour the desert, or wait a while?

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Scout the desert while we wait. We mostly stay near a town/city

Male Half Elf Bound 7 HP Not Dead/67; AC 26 (tch 15; ff 23); CMD 27; DR 3/-; Fort +11, Ref +8; Will +7(Aura of Courage, Roll Twice Take Best vs Mind Effect); Perception +5; Sense Motive +0; Initiative +3

Talryn can carry jo while flying. Easier that way.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

That is acceptable.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Talryn, give me some Survival checks.

Male Half Elf Bound 7 HP Not Dead/67; AC 26 (tch 15; ff 23); CMD 27; DR 3/-; Fort +11, Ref +8; Will +7(Aura of Courage, Roll Twice Take Best vs Mind Effect); Perception +5; Sense Motive +0; Initiative +3

Survival checks: 5d20 ⇒ (19, 20, 20, 6, 9) = 74

Talryn is...really good at survival. My bonus is a +9 or +11 if someone aid anothers.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

How many people can Aid? He, miraculously, ALMOST has the DC to track a creature who passed through here a month ago, but that +30-ish to the DC puts it juuuust out of his reach.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Just got word Chimon had a tooth pulled and probably won't post tonight, so here's his Aid.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

All right! With his +4, you can actually pick up the trail.

Talryn, amazingly, picks up the trail of the golem that tromped over the cracked earth a month ago. It is hard going at firt, but as you cover ground the trail gets easier to follow.

Thankfully you rolled a 19 and two 20's. Every day of tracking shaves a couple off the DC.

After a week of tracking, you catch sight of the golem in the distance, trudging slowly along, heedless of the desert winds and glaring sun.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

We should study it from afar for now - Jo cast Silent image to create the illusion of hill giant that attack the golem.

Male Oni-Spawn Tiefling Bruiser 7 - Wound 12; HP 60[74]; AC 22[23] (tch 20[18]; ff 20[21]) (+2 w/ Mage Armor); CMD 32[32] (+2 vs Grapple; +4 vs Disarm); DR 3/-; Fort +8 [+10], Ref +9; Will +9 [+11]; Darkvision, Scent, Perception +13; Sense Motive +18; Initiative +5

"See how it reacts to flying enemies using ranged attacks..."

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The golem turns and begins swiping at the illusion. He does so until the duration lapses.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Jo concentrate in moving little by little the illusion to see if the golem chase it. The duration is concentration, Jo have the time.

Still, better to not let our guard down, the DM could be tempted to use random encounter tables

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The golem ignores the hill giant once it stops attacking, and continues its wandering. It resumes fighting whenever the monster shows hostility.

Male Oni-Spawn Tiefling Bruiser 7 - Wound 12; HP 60[74]; AC 22[23] (tch 20[18]; ff 20[21]) (+2 w/ Mage Armor); CMD 32[32] (+2 vs Grapple; +4 vs Disarm); DR 3/-; Fort +8 [+10], Ref +9; Will +9 [+11]; Darkvision, Scent, Perception +13; Sense Motive +18; Initiative +5

Korak pokes Jo in the shoulder

"See how it reacts to flying opponents with ranged weapons. I wanna know if it has any ranged capabilities."

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Jo creates a flying Korak with a longbow and a clown nose that start attacking the golem.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The golem picks up a handful of sand, which instantly calcifies into a big rock, then tosses it at the illusion.

It seems reasonably accurate.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

And what happen when the fake Korak doesn't disappear and continue attacking?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

It keeps throwing rocks until the thing stops attacking.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

And what if Flyng fake Korak move back 20 ft and continue shooting?

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

So, what do we do now?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The golem moves closer and tosses another rock.

Give me some Perception checks real quick.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Male Oni-Spawn Tiefling Bruiser 7 - Wound 12; HP 60[74]; AC 22[23] (tch 20[18]; ff 20[21]) (+2 w/ Mage Armor); CMD 32[32] (+2 vs Grapple; +4 vs Disarm); DR 3/-; Fort +8 [+10], Ref +9; Will +9 [+11]; Darkvision, Scent, Perception +13; Sense Motive +18; Initiative +5

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Alrighty.

Anyhow, what now?

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

NO clue. Any chasm near?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Not that you can see.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

Any terrain near that is not sand but solid rock?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

No solid rock, but the ground isn't sand. Think less "sand dunes" and more "Dry earth with some scraggly plants".

Like this.

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

We only have one more test to does, to find out what the golem do when two or more opponents face him. I can only create one illusion, so, Any brave man here?

Male Halfling Clerk of Abadar 7 | HP 29/45 | AC 29/24/20 | Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +12 | Init +4 | Perception +7 | Agile feet 8/8 | Inspiring command 8/8

Chimon shrugs. "My crossbow is capable of distance shooting. Should I empower everyone beforehand?"
