No, all there is is scones.
What a barbaric world...
Rynjin |
Lol. So, time for damage control. Your Sorceress is a drooling infant, your Monkbarian is out having lunch in the middle of the night somehow, and a Necrocraft is somewhere within the city, probably dicking people over (if you care).
Chimon Jivuran |
"Some kind of armor!" Chimon informs Talryn.
He goes over to Jo and shakes her hand twice. "Clear your mind."
Lesser restoration 1: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Lesser restoration 2: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Chimon Jivuran |
Seeing his spells have no effect, Chimon shrugs and pulls Jo inside with his newfound strength. "Talryn, would you try and find what happened to the Leech Street Gang? I think it was their yelling that woke me."
Rynjin |
The sight inside is a bloodbath.
Tony sits in the center of the room, holding a wicked looking knife in one hand. He is surrounded by his dead and dying compatriots.
He looks at Talryn without a hint of recognition, mouth pulled into a rictus grin on his face.
1d100 ⇒ 75
Without changing the expression on his face or taking his eyes off Talryn, he raises the knife, and brings it down hard onto his left hand, lopping it clean off.
He waves the stump around merrily, spraying yet more blood on the floor.
Korak Fists of Fury |
I'm not having lunch in the middle of the night! I'm having brunch in the middle of the night... Which I suppose would make it "brinner", but I'm not splitting hairs...
I am 900ft away... Even if I run I'll arrive more or less at the same time as the heat death of the universe. I'm not contributing to this fight, so I might as well eat some pancakes.
Talryn Ironflesh |
"Chimon, there are casualties in here!" He yells before turning to Tony.
Talryn shakes his head before approaching Tony while drawing his sword.
Kill the dangerous mark before mitigating losses. A dull monotone within his mind reminds him.
Is Tony a legitimate threat still or should we handwave the beatdown?
Rynjin |
OOC he's been struck by Insanity. He's just as likely to hurt himself as you. You can beat him down in one shot, so if you don't roll a 1 just consider combat over. This is what happens when the Bogeyman does his thing.
Talryn Ironflesh |
The first hit knocks him out, and the second kills him.
You guys should read the evil overlord list, especially the parts about providing medical care for your minions and stuff geez
Insanity is expensive to cure. =P We've already gotta patch up one person. His coverage plan didn't cover it.
Talryn Ironflesh |
I GUESS I'LL FOLLOW HIM.
Talryn decides to follow the cues the Bogeyman is giving him to follow.
Rynjin |
The Bogeyman leads Talryn (and anyone else who follows) across town, further into the richer district of the city. After a while it pauses as if thinking for a moment, and then phases through the street.
A sewer grate sits less than 100 feet from the location.
Talryn Ironflesh |
Talryn enters the Sewer through the grate when no one is really around.
Though hes not concerned about one or two people seeing him.
Rynjin |
After a short trip through the sewers and a wave hello to one of your otyugh friends you arrive at a dead end. After a good deal of searching you find a cleverly concealed door that leads into a house, of sorts.
It is comfortably appointed, and filled with everything a magic user might need. Material components (some expensive), an alchemy lab, a comfortable bed, a treasure chest, and of course an operating table splattered with blood and other unsavory juices.
A notebook lies on the desk table, open to the most recent page, which reads:
Chimon is proving more of a nuisance than he's worth. His strong will would have made a powerful undead, but I simply can't spend any more time on him. Once I've recovered, I'll wipe him and his little friends out.
Chimon Jivuran |
While Talryn follows the bogeyman, Chimon tries to stabilize the dying and begin to clean up the mess. He keeps a careful eye on Jo lest she, too, try to injure herself.
Taking 10 on Heal (untrained) for a 15 to stabilize those still alive.
Once Korak's done with food/once Talryn returns from the sewers:
"Should we try to locate the undead that was teleported away? It is likely inimical to life."
Rynjin |
1d20 ⇒ 3
The chest looks perfectly safe to talryn's untrained eye, but upon touching it Talryn begins to feel odd.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Upon opening the chest he accidentally hits himself in the chin with the top, and gets a splinter in his finger.
You've been hit with a Bestow Curse, and now you're unlucky. -4 to attack rolls, saves, ability checks, and skill checks.
Inside the chest is a pouch full of gold (from the feel of it maybe 2000 gold), a spell book, and 3 scrolls.
And there's about 2000 gp more in valuable material components around the room, mostly Onyxes.

Chimon manages to save 3 people who weren't quite dead yet. The harder job is keeping Jo from sucking on Tony's fingers.
Talryn Ironflesh |
Talryn shakes off the incredulity of getting a splinter in his finger before shoving the valuables in his bag.
Once he feels fairly certain he has sacked the place, he leaves.
Should probably bring Korak and Chimon here to investigate further.
Before leaving the sewer, Talryn asks one of the Otyughs if they can keep an eye on whether anyone comes through here. He'll bring some nice treats if they do.
Korak Fists of Fury |
Korak has his second cup of green tea.
Talryn Ironflesh |
Talryn shows Chimon all the phat loot he found.
"I found the Shade's lair. Here's what I found mostly. Might want to check it out yourself since I could only find what I could see. Also, I have a splinter. That shouldn't be possible." Talryn reports.
Chimon Jivuran |
"A splinter?" Chimon looks puzzled, as near Talryn can tell (what with the light from the halfling's holy symbol warping his features). "Are those really so rare?"
He looks up at the stars. "Well, do you think we should try to find that undead the crypt thing teleported away? Maybe look for Korak as well?"
Talryn Ironflesh |
"Chimon, I want you cut me with a knife. When you try, you'll see why I'm surprised. As for the Crypt Thing, I'm not sure. The Bogeyman said they were contracted. With the Shade dead, they probably won't care to continue fighting for no reason. Korak should be back soon anyways. We can Send for him tomorrow morning if he ended up somewhere farther than the city limits." Talryn's helm dissipates and he scratches his head as he looks around at the mess.
"It's going to take some time to get all this in order anyways. Have any colleagues who can fix Jo up?" He says while patting Jo on the head.
Chimon Jivuran |
"I mean the necrocraft, not the crypt thing," Chimon says. He picks up Tony's bloodstained knife and looks at Talryn's finger, then back at the knife. "Hm. I do not think that would be decorous."
Knowledge (local) for Jo fixing: 10 + 12 = 22
Rynjin |
Someone at the local Abadaran temple would be able to cast it for the usual Heal fee, or someone at the Arcaneum would likely cast Limited Wish for you cheaper, were you to agree to help them with their experiments. Even for free, for particularly...in depth assistance.
Chimon Jivuran |
"The guild-temple should have the power to heal her, but it will be expensive. The Arcaneum might be a better bet, but they'll probably have a task for us," Chimon says, dropping the knife to the floor. "Either way, neither will be available at the moment. We should find a secure room for Jo and sleep until Korak returns."
Rynjin |
You all rest and sleep, secure in the knowledge that nobody will get mind raped any more than they already have.
So, where to?
Also, do you plan to identify the scrolls? I can put up what's in the Spellbook at the same time, and a value.
Chimon Jivuran |
Chimon doesn't get new spells until afternoon. He'll get read magic up then.
In the morning, Chimon casts a trio of healing spells on the unconscious gangsters.
1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Bless, doom, and obscuring mist gone.
He then binds Jo's wrist to his and leads the group to the Arcaneum. Once there, he tries to locate a caster who would be skilled enough to perform the desired spell.
Rynjin |
You need to go to one of the higher floors for this, as Gavin graciously tells you when you stop by.
He directs you to a man named Salazar, one of the friendlier of the powerful casters in the tower, up on the 128th floor.
A tall, thin Osirian man greets you there.
"Yes?"
Chimon Jivuran |
"Greetings, Salazar. I am Chimon Jivuran, and this is Jo," Chimon says, indicating his afflicted companion. "She is under the effects of a spell that drains one's mental faculties, and I have not been able to repair it with the power of Abadar. If we pay, might you be able to help her?"
Rynjin |
"Ah, she's been hit by a Feeblemind spell has she? Used to keep a zoo full of old enemies like that myself, but it got messy."
"Yeah, I can undo it, but it'll be expensive. 1500 just for the big diamond I need to track down."
"If you've got cash in hand for the diamond and my usual service fee I can do it now, but I've got some experiments I need some help gathering materials for, and some help running if you're interested in trading labor instead."
