From affar (70 ft) Jo cast sleep over the guards. DC 19.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The ones outside? You can't catch both of 'em (They're still at their posts, marching around, so opposite sides of the building), but that's fine since you could only affect 1 anyway (they're both 3 HD). You want the one on the right, or the left? They'd arrive at the door around the same time once this round is over.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Either way, one goes beddy-bye.

Weren't we supposed to wait the guards outside to enter the building?Oh, well... Whatever works, I guess. There is only 1 guard on this side of the building, right?

30 seconds are 5 rounds, I do not think Jorikko hava that much time.

M Tiefling Dark Stalker 4

Jorriko has never had a problem with lasting under 5 rounds.

Ah... F!+% it!

Seeing the guard suddenly fall asleep, Korak moves towards the old building, saying a few words to the Sorceress as he walks.

"Okay, little lady, you follow me inside and close the door... Or stay outside and close the door... Whatever. Just close the door."

He then proceeds to open the door and enter his combat stance as he speaks in a clear voice.

"Well, then... Who wants to dance?"

Korak just walks in and uses a free action to enter his combat style. Hopefully Jorriko and Dameon will join the fray before he gets swarmed by all 4 enemies... :)

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

I think that'd actually be 3 move actions (70 feet to move, 1 to open the door), but we'll assume Dameon opened it or something for simplicity's sake. Keep in mind, there's still one guard outside, who'll be at the door by the end of this round.

Franier pulls a vial from his bandolier and smears it on his blade, then starts moving in, grinning evilly.

"I'm gonna make you regret this ya shirtless freak!" he yells.

M Tiefling Dark Stalker 4

Krail moves into position behind the half elf, and whispers in a voice cold as the grave itself. " Chyno respectfully declines your "generous" offer for protection." And then abruptly appears and stabs the thug through the back releasing even more dark energy through his blade.

5ft step into flanking position, standard action to channel smite.

Franier moves in with his poisoned blade and anticipates striking the seemingly unarmed Korak.

"I've got you right where-HYURK!" he tries to say, as a massive blade plunges through his chest, coursing with deadly power.

"Forgot about...the invisible one..." he gasps, and slumps to the ground.

Lemmy, feel free to shift your target to one of the thugs. I'll let you re-roll.

"Tsc... I wanted to punch him at least once..."- says Korak with a disappointed voice -"Well... I guess I'll have to compensate for it by punching you guys twice as hard!"

Korak eagerly charges one of the half-elf's still conscious thugs. It's been a while since he had the chance to exercise. So he starts with a high kick.

Okay, Korak charges the thug closest to him, entering Rage and activating his combat style feat at the same time.
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

A 5. Of course... ¬¬'

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The first thug gets a horrified look on his face as his boss goes down.

He shakes his head clear and begins to shout something.

"Okay boys, get 'em! Avenge the boss!"

Almost immediately afterwards, however, he is dealt a bonecrushing blow to the face by Korak. While his strength of will was strong enough to resist Jorriko's wave of energy, his mastery of mind over matter ended here. He flies backwards a full 3 feet, and doesn't move or make a sound afterwards.

The second thug makes a horrified little yell and starts running away as fast as he can. Between the bleeding sores and wasting sickness he seemingly contracted from the disappearing man, his morale is shot and he has no more desire to fight.

The third thug has the opposite reaction. Enraged by the death of his leader and drinking buddy, he runs up to Korak and swings his sword with all he's got.

"This! Is! For! JIIIIIIIIMMMMMM!!!!!!!" he screams.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

...But his ineptitude keeps him from connecting any meaningful blow.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Finally, the second lookout arrives on the scene, in time to see almost his entire gang beaten in combat by these few guys.

Deciding that with Franier dead, along with most of the other gang members not far behind, he no longer has a reason to stick around. He turns tail and starts running.

...Only to be caught by Jo's mind bending spell. He stops in his tracks, desperately trying to remember what was so important a moment ago.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

Dameon suddenly remembers the sleeping thug and decides to dispatch of him. He walks over to where the unconscious man lays and ends his life, wiping off his blade with a flourish.

M Tiefling Dark Stalker 4

Krail turns his gaze to Jo, and with the smallest of half smiles, replies"The contract is not yet fulfilled..." and he points to the fleeing thug. As you glance back at Jorriko, he seems to have vanished again, but you notice a breeze go by you as if someone was running past you to the door.

"That was... pathetic. But don't feel bad, being pathetic is very common among low-life losers such as yourself."

Korak retaliates, using his new-found claws to slash his target's throat. These poor bastards are not worth the effort of killing, but the bonus cash definitely is.

You got two hits. First IUS knocked him out. You sure you don't wanna kill him? You forfeit your bonus if he lives.

Korak scoffs at the man's pitiful swings and unleashes a devastating straight punch at the thug, knocking him to the ground and cracking his skull.

Not wanting to pass up easy money, Korak extends one sharp claw and slits the man's throat, finishing him off for good.

And it's still technically your turn if you want it Byrd.

Only ones alive are a Dazed lookout (Jorriko adjacent), and the cowering one in the back.

The coward huddles further into the corner, hoping his non-combativeness will save him.

I'll just assume you kill them, without bothering with another combat round. The cowering guy has 5 HP left and the dazed one has no way in hell of defending himself from Jorriko and the rest of y'all's hits (which'll do at minimum half his HP per swing).

The group congratulate themselves on a job well done, collecting their grisly trophies and heading back to the Mandrigal base.

Vivian provides them with three envelopes and a begrudging "Good work", then gives them their payment from the jobs.

Grand total 525 gold each, and a dose of Drow Poison (provided at mission start, but you didn't use it). I'll think of some more jobs to put on the board in a bit. Did you like all of these? Was there one type you preferred? If so, I'll try and make up more of that specific type. If not, I'll keep throwing grab bags at you, see what sticks. Might throw in some kidnappings and extortions this go 'round. =D

Not long after you receive your payment, the other group walks in.

With...a new addition.

A shambling corpse marches ahead of the group, holding its own severed head in its hand.

The red robed man waves his hand and the creature stops.

"It is done." he says to Vivian.

Vivian grimaces.

"There are much less disgusting ways to bring your proof Charles, you don't have to shuffle in with the whole corpse just to make your gold." Vivian says to him.

"It's simply the best way for the client to make sure. If I bring the whole body, entirely identifiable, I can never be called a cheat, now can I?"

"Besides..." he waves his hand and whispers a short phrase, after which a sickening purple flash emits from his hand.

"I can make use of these trophies in OTHER ways." he says as the disembodied head begins to float under its own power.

"Salvador, Michaelis, go finish that job with the 3 deserters, will you? I'm sure you're up to it."

The male Drow gives a short bow.

"Of course Charles, shouldn't be a problem at all." and he grins nastily and pats his bandolier.

He turns on his heel to leave and calls over his shoulder after a few steps.

"Come Salvador! Blood and flesh await!"

Salvador gives Michaelis a look of rapt attention and starts cackling insanely. Then he follows close behind the Drow, and they both depart.

Charles departs for the common room.

"Are you coming, Maya?" He calls over his shoulder. "The wine here is actually quite good."

She shrugs and follows along.

Jorriko speaks slowly , in response to the barbarian, with carefully chosen words. Death comes for us all... Sate her appetite on the souls of your opponents... This is the sum of all wisdom. He makes sure his tone and words are not lost on the Drow. Charles... Necromancer... Apparent leader... Michaelis, subordinate to Charles, relegated to grunt work... Possible to exploit? Unknown. Salvador, obvious "muscle", possible canibal... he continues to analyze and assess the potential threats...

@Jo's and Korak's Gather Information:

Much like you, this group has been very efficient in their jobs so far, earning respect among the Mandrigal for being so effective as newbies.

What you know about them in particular:

The Human, Charles Alteca, is the brains of the operation, and a powerful Necromancer. He's rarely seen in combat without his "entourage", a small group of fairly powerful undead.

The male Drow, Michaelis Dran'shidan is the "finesse man" of the group, though he's not too shabby with a blade and he tosses potent concoctions with unerring accuracy and explosive results.

The female Drow, Maya Gilfallius, is Michaelis' lover. She's a master of mind affecting magic, especially Compulsions, and also acts as the information gatherer and "face" of the group.

Finally, Salvador. Nobody really knows what Salvador's deal is except that he's big, mean, and cleaves through people with his scythe like they aren't even there. He has the rage of a beast, but Demonic favor is upon him. When he kills his enemies he likes to taste of their flesh, preferably of the heart.

Alfred Bell: A minor member of the Mandrigal, a pickpocket of no small skill. Not a fighter, and he's hit a bad streak recently, unable to lift enough goods to pay his rent, much less his dues. He lives in the Lower Quarter, not too far away from where the street gang's warehouse was.

Tyrio's guard: Retired soldier, but still proficient with a blade. He could pose a threat in direct combat, standing toe to toe with Jorriko or Korak, but could be easily bypassed through alternative routes into the house (assuming he doesn't see or hear you approaching). He usually stays near the house all day, patrolling the estate, but usually goes out for lunch around noon, bringing some back for his friend and employer as well. He's rarely gone more than a half hour.

Korak replies to the fellow tiefling with a smile.

"Aren't you a little sunshine?" he jokes without meaning any offense.

Then, the barbarian turns and reads the job board.

"I'd rather not be involved with a young girl's kidnapping. The other jobs are okay. This bell guy sounds like an easy quarry. And we might get an useful informant out of this job. Why not start with him?"

I'm here! Let's see. Jorriko first.

While Jorriko was not quite on his best form, he was still able to follow the group. They weren't doing anything to hide their tracks, and he was only a few minutes behind anyway.

While Michaelis and Salvador show no outward signs of seeing that they are being followed, Jorriko notices a slight tightening of Michaelis' shoulder blades when he starts slipping in and out of the shadows and the crowd in order to keep pace. While he's not certain, Jorriko gets the feeling Michaelis is onto the fact that someone is following him at the very least.

Nevertheless, Michaelis continues on his way, shrugging at some point and giving a little half-smile to himself. He makes no attempt to lose Jorriko, and in fact does everything in his power to subtly make sure he has no trouble following.

Finally, they make it to their destination, an old house deep in the Lower Quarter.

Michaelis gestures for Salvador to open the door, and the big man shoulders the door with a growl, almost breaking it off its hinges.

Salvador takes a slight step to the side, and Michaelis tosses a vial into the room. Immediately afterwards the room fills with a thick smoke, and the sounds of coughing and screams of pain fill the room.

Salvador's muscles visibly bulge even under the trappings of his armor, and he moves into the room, sniffing loudly and unlimbering his massive scythe. Within seconds, the screaming stops, and loud thumps reach your ears. Soon afterwards Salvador lumbers back out through the door, three severed heads clutched in his right fist.

Michaelis and Salvador walk off, presumably to return to base and collect their reward. However, after a few steps MIchaelis suddenly turns and snaps a knife in your direction, the point landing right between your feet, a note attached to the end.

He gives a wink in your direction, then starts back off the way he was headed.

I assume you read the note?

You unfurl the note and a simple sentence greets you.

Enjoy the show?

Alrighty, and now onward to the Korak and Jo show.

You arrive at Alfred Bell's house. The door is locked and the blinds are closed. However, inside you see a flutter of curtains, as if someone was just peeking through them to make sure nobody was coming to their door.

Knocking produces no results.

Obviously you don't know anything about knocking. KORAK KNOCKS LIKE A MAN!

Korak kicks the door

Strength check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Maybe not the manliest of men... ¬¬'

Female Human Sorcerer (fey bloodline), level 7; AC: 17; Hp: 41; CMD: 17 ; Fort: +10 Ref : +10 (Evasion) Will: +13 (aura of courage, strong willed) ; Perception +5; Concentration +20, Init +2

I say whispering to korak - Stay alert if he try to scape -. I use ghost sound to create the sound of several steps in the floof of the house. I also create the sound of people muttering near the door and the windowsof the house (DC 15 to disbelief). I also stay away from the the line of sight of windows, I do nto want to be hitted by an arrow.

Come out alfred, we have all the entrances covered, do not make us come in after you. Just come here, pay your debt and everything will be fine.
