Jorriko steps up and slashes his blade, leaving the jester to lie on the ground in two pieces, twitching and laughing.
The stone jester begins climbing up the side of the pit.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Also, Ref save at +2 for the pit again, Jorriko. Unless you want a cage match with the construct.
Rynjin |
Jorriko, off balance from his sword swing, tumbles and falls into the pit, past the climbing construct.
The creature, seeing Jorriko fall, looks up, then decides it's not worth the trouble when one of his targets is within easy reach. He stops his climb about 10 feet up, then drops back into the pit, standing over Jorriko menacingly.
No use rolling damage since his hardness would absorb it even at max. Jo's up, then Jorriko, then the Clowninator, then Korak.
Jorriko Krail |
here is my readied turn:
-swift vanish (last one today)
-5ft sidestep
-standard action to ready an attack if the construct tries to climb out again.
Rationale: if he ignores me and tries to climb out, I should get an AoO and then my readied action giving me two chances to take him down.
AoO vs flatfootedness: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 201d10 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
readied attack vs flatfootedness from climbing: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 151d10 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Rynjin |
Jo fires a crossbow bolt at the construct, which goes wild, almost hitting Jorriko, before hitting the floor of the pit.
The stone jester looks about confused for a few moments, trying to find Jorriko, but is eventually unable to do so.
Figuring that his opponent was gone, he begins climbing again.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Suddenly, Jorriko lashes out with two quick slashes. One hits the construct with a glancing blow, doing slight damage, while the backswing just clinks off the thing's stone skin with no ill effects.
The jester, annoyed, releases his grip again, coming down on Jorriko with his bladed foot extended.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
But his drop is narrowly avoided by Jorriko, who can feel the wind of the blade passing through where his shoulder had been a moment before.
Korak Fists of Fury |
"Sorry, Jorriko, you are not getting off the hook that easy! No deaths allowed before we finish the job!" says Korak as he jumps down the pit, making sure to fall with his on the Jester's head.
Acrobatics to fall without damage Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
And here I thought I'd finally make good use of Acrobatics... ¬¬'
Dive Kick: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Boot to the Face!: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Oh... Max damage!
He scream out loud when he lands. He wants to be certain that Jo will listen!
"HEY! TINY! USE MORE OF THAT ACID BLOB YOU USED ON THE CRITTER AT THE FRONT DOOR!"
i.e.: Use Acid Splash. It's not very much, but it's free damage. Hardness doesn't apply against energy attacks. I think...
Rynjin |
The construct is rocked by Korak's blow, Jorriko's narrowly whizzing by his face as he catches his balance.
Hurt and surrounded by enemies, he lashes out. First to Korak, second to Jorriko.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
His bladed foot narrowly whizzes past Korak's front as he sucks in his gut to avoid the blow, while his normal one flailing around afterwards doesn't come anywhere near Jorriko.
Korak Fists of Fury |
BTW, is it me again? Did Jorriko act already?
Korak Fists of Fury |
I'm not sure if I should be acting now or if it's still Jorriko's turn -.-'
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Rynjin |
Where had you booked, if I can ask?
Korak wailed on the construct, getting in a number of hits, though only two connected for any damage.
It seems as though the creature is on its last legs, though it remains dangerous to those around it.
Jo, Jorriko, then Big Boy.
Korak Fists of Fury |
Holy S@#&! I forgot I had a Ki pool now!!! Can I use it to make an extra attack, since Jo didn't act yet?
Ki Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Of course I roll well when I forget to attack... ¬¬'
Rynjin |
Korak, Jorriko, and Jo combine fire, finally cracking, crumbling, and melting the construct's stone body, it slowly crumbling to pieces as the magic sustaining it is no longer capable of doing so.
As it crumbles, a small golden scepter is revealed in the wreckage, falling out of the chest of the creature.
Its functions are clearly labeled, in order:
-Redecorate (Rooms)
-Redecorate (Guardians/Inhabitants)
-Activate Defenses
-Deactivate Defenses
-Restore/Repair Defenses
-Unlock doors/chests
-Reveal Orb Chamber
See? Maybe not such a bad base after all. =)
Jorriko Krail |
Krail gathers his friends and channels positive energy over them. Looking at the beating that his barbarian comrad took he whispers a quick prayer to mend his wounds.
Death came to visit, may she come again on another day
pos energy to all: 1d6 ⇒ 5
to korak: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
He deactivates the defenses and suggests to the group: We should rest.
Korak Fists of Fury |
With Rage... 17. Without Rage... 9. :P
Korak Fists of Fury |
Auron gives the sorceress a smile of honest gratitude.
"Thanks, tiny. You're a sweet heart when you're not killing stuff... Not that I'm complaining. By all means, kill as much stuff as you can in this place!" he then pauses for a second, and seems like something suddenly popped out in his mind. "The potion we found! Can you figure out what it does?"
Potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
I'm assuming this is a 1st level potion.
Jo. |
Hey, I dont kill things, unless I am on very bad mood. And stop calling me names, mr clowny.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Korak Fists of Fury |
"Hahahaha. It's just an affectionate nickname between friends, little lady. Don't take it too seriously." he says with a loud laughter, before turning to his other companion.
"And you, Jorriko. Any ideas? Spending the night here is probably not safe, but we're not exactly 100%. Our next tussle might be our last if we are not careful..."
Rynjin |
Gotcha. Since you're that low I'd suggest healing up in the morning as well to get back to full. Also, the potion is a potion of Bear's Endurance.
Jorriko fiddles with the scepter for a moment, deactivating the remaining defenses.
It takes him a bit longer to figure out how the Redecorate function works, but he soon does so, by pressing the button and then sating the theme out loud.
The rooms shift and rearrange slightly, losing the eye searing colors and garish decorations.
The walls shift to a simple white paneling, with clean hardwood floors. The main room shifts, obliterating the doll room and the one opposite it, changing into 4 same size bedrooms, while the "throne room" you are currently standing in loses it walls, and a bar, fully stocked with most beverages you could care to ask for, appears in its place, along with a fully stocked larder.
Finally, a number of jesters flicker into existence before changing into an innkeeper, his wife, and a pair of servants.
These illusions are basically convinced you're paying rent for long term stays and food in advance, even though you aren't, by the by. Never worth it to track room and board costs anyway.
Jorriko Krail |
The defenses are disabled, we are locked in, and have the only known key in existence... Besides check out the "toy room" now. [b]
With a concentrated effort and use of the "redecorate" wand, Krail wild the other room to be lined with murals of succubi engaging in wanton acts of depravity, and a bed with wood carved busts of Korak looking dashing and manly as bedposts, and a wooden training dummy in the corner.
The large room they are standing in turns into a quiet, cozy study with paintings of dancing fey and beautiful woodland scenery. A comfortable bed and a long teak desk with lamps and a place for ink wells and quills materializes on one side with a large intricately engraved and cushioned chair to sit in. Book shelves line the free spaces on the remaining walls to complete the feeling of a study/ bedroom.
[b] For you, Jo. May you find comfort and rest here. I am going to investigate the final room, and then we can open access to the orb room.
Rynjin |
Jorriko touches the scepter again, and personalizes each of the rooms according to the whims of himself and his companions, tweaking the basic "Inn Theme" in the common room to be somewhat more "racy".
The help change slightly as well, becoming less wholesome, the innkeeper's wife and the serving girl now dressed in skimpy clothing and looking much more beautiful, while the innkeeper and male servant becoming somewhat rougher, even combat ready (appearing now in light armor and being armed).
Good?
Feel free to describe in detail your rooms, if you want. Anything not directly combat applicable or super expensive is fine. I figure you can have some useful stuff her as long as it's not sellable (disappears when you leave, for instance). Perhaps the library in Jo's room giving bonuses on checks for researching certain things, if you like.
Jorriko wanders into the rooms, and finds one locked chest, containing a fair amount of treasure.
A wand, and two longswords (which seem to be magical).
Korak Fists of Fury |
"Can you get rid of the clown shoes (and all the rest)? They make my kicks hurt more, but they're kinda annoying after a while..."
Jorriko Krail |
Krail's room becomes devoid of light and sparse of furniture. The darkness almost seems to crawl with a life of its own. A simple cot and chest spring out from the walls, and a freestanding door with all manner of locks and mechanisms appears on the other wall; a place to practice and hone his skills.
Rynjin |
Maybe if Jorriko remembers there's more than one "Redecorate" function and lets you use it. *hint hint* =)
Also, since Jo's gone I don't feel like having her roll. It's a wand of Charm Person, and two +1 Longswords.
