Haron Lightstep |
Coming up to Bull, once again wanting to stay close and curry favor.
"You are a specimen Bull, good work cutting your way out of that things. I for one would have come and helped but he shrugged off my bullets you see."
Kroone |
The nagaji was still swinging his sword on the air.
I'm sorry, guys - it seems my aiming wasn't great on this last fight! I will try to do better from now on.
And he smiles, still swinging his weapon as if "training" it.
Triccio 'Trig' Petali |
Trig looks into the servants' burial chamber, but doesn't touch anything. "Remember, we must respect the dead."
He does look around carefully and as always, checks for magic.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Meta-gaming, I've got about one encounter's worth of resources left. Trig would be pretty excited to keep delving.
Haron Lightstep |
"Well we are here, may as well see what is behind that door. You know what they say "When a god opens a door something something something." I am paraphrasing of course."
Haron gestures to the door in the room.
DoubleGold |
As to the post below No traps as Nor'scrik opens the door
You all go left. perception: 9 + 1d20 ⇒ 9 + (7) = 16 Haron
perception: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (10) = 16 Triccio
perception: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (6) = 7 Kroone
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Thundering Bull
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 steinfaust
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 silverback
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27norscrik
You move out 20 feet past the door, and Some of you spot a false wall to your left once you open the door, ie south. And of course we have doors to the north from that left door you just entered. which way, entering the secret wall involves chipping away some stone or mild solid wall which we will assume takes 1 minute
Nor'scrik |
"I'll go check ahead. Lots of sneaky traps around here so there is no such thing as being too safe, yes?"
Nor'scrik searches just past the door from the large room and tries to see if it's safe.
perception, trapfinding: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 = 26
Thundering Bull |
"Ratman find traps. Thundering Bull follow ratman," Thundering Bull lumbers after Nor'scrik in his search for traps. Maybe find fun room. Traps boring.
Reaching the space that requires crawling, Thundering Bull halts. "Crawl not good. Child and ratman go?"
Haron Lightstep |
"Well I guess it is worth checking out. After you say Nor'scrik? I will follow you in since you are better at finding traps."
"Of course I will need some way to see in there."
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Triccio 'Trig' Petali |
Trig looks on worriedly. If something goes wrong in that confined space, it could go very wrong indeed.
"Be careful, you two. Do you need my lantern?"
The bard strips off his pack and lays aside his bow and staff. "I'll follow behind."
DoubleGold |
Nevermind I misread, they aren't crawl spaces, but they are narrow. so you can stand up in them
The heroes go in single file. As they all get in a single file halfway down the hallway, two beetles pop up. One in front one in back, leaving the heroes nowhere to go and having to fight their way out while being squished in. Don't worry, I'm using the two tanks here Thundering Bull and Steinfaust as front and back, this should take two rounds at most, I'm sure most of you have ranged weapons, if not even two melee people should be able to deal with these things.
init: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (17) = 20 Kroone
init: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (14) = 18 Silverback
init: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (19) = 21 Triccio
init: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (9) = 15 Haron
init: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (11) = 15 Norscrik
init: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (6) = 8 Thundering Bull
init: 0 + 1d20 ⇒ 0 + (6) = 6 Steinfaust
init: 0 + 1d20 ⇒ 0 + (13) = 13 Mining Beetles.
Half of you are before them, ranged stuff will only take a -8 penalty, engaged in melee and cover shooting past your allies
Nor'scrik |
Nor'scrik waits for an opening while surrounded by his allies.
Delay.
Haron Lightstep |
As a true daring gunslinger Haron dosn't hesitate to take a shot.
"More big bugs. Nope."
Pistol Shot: 1d20 + 6 - 8 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 8 = 18 vs touch
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 6 - 8 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 8 = 7 vs touch
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
crit dam: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3) = 12
Not sure how you are handling crits so I took a stab. Probably didn't confirm anyway.
Silverback |
"I am sorry that my spells have not been more useful, to date," Silverback says as he again casts bless on the party.
Nothing I have that can harm them, so we'll keep the +1 to attack.
Haron Lightstep |
Haron has been sticking close to Bull to probably his.
Haron Lightstep |
Excellent catch. I was posting from work and thought I had point-blank shot. Looking at the full character sheet, I do not.
Thundering Bull |
"Thundering Bull squish bug!" he says, sprinting forward with destructive glee. Reaching the beetle, he attempts to shove it back and to the ground to be trampled underfoot. Overwhelmed with the rush of combat, he spins around with his axe raised high, ready to take a swing at the poor beast should it try to move away or get up.
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 If Bullrush is successful, I get a free overrun maneuver and the beetle takes 4 points of bludgeoning damage.
Overrun: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 If Overrrun is successful, beetle takes 6 more points of bludgeoning damage. If I beat it's CMD by 5 or more, it is prone too!
Standard action to Bull rush, Free action to Overrun while Moving through the beetle's square.
Haron Lightstep |
Posting my round 2 action since I am at work and may not get a chance later.
Round 2 -Haron
Seeing Bulls Beetle fall Haron whips around, ducks under his tallere companions legs, and fires at the remaining attacker.
Pistol To Hit: 1d20 + 6 - 8 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 8 = 1
Missing by a good distance, Haron does a quick double take at his pistol to make sure he was holding it properly.
"So much for being guided by Desnas hand, that was embarrassing."
DoubleGold |
Steinfaust misses and so does Haron, but now that the way is cleared in front of them the heroes can get to the end of the hallway easily push out the wall at the other end the beetle stop chasing them. If the heroes really want to use that passage, then they can throws rocks and debri into the hall, it will come out and everyone's readied attacks goes off killing it.
Combat over, bettles dead
DoubleGold |
You are now in A13 Unfinished Wing
This short hallway narrows sharply to the west, descending to the set of stairs that abruptly ends at a rough rock wall. Your just west of where that lime green room is in the bottom left corner
You all do hear 2 mining beetles at the bottom of the stairs and surprise them and kill those too.
DoubleGold |
Oh, in anyone has it a linguistics check is good here. Remember that stuff you found while fighting the constructs? The scrolls there you got from the chest detail this room, but they are hard to read and more details about this room Unfinished wing can be found out with a Linguistics check, knowing a certain language can't help you for some reason.
Its called the Unfinished Wing cause it was left unfinished. It's just a room with a set of stairs that leads to a wall, obviously they planned to dig out that wall but never got to it. And you see two dead beetles that you just killed while they were busying eating dead bug carcasses.
Thundering Bull |
"Many bugs. Don't like bugs," Thundering Bull grumbles as he searches the room for anything of interest.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 and probably only finds his bucket of food
Nor'scrik |
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
"I can't see anymore of them Thundering Bull, maybe we can find more things for you to squish if we go back the other way?"
While the groups walks back Nor'scrik takes a moment to read over some of the documents found earlier.
linguistics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Silverback |
"Can you make anything of those scrolls," Silverback asks Nor'scrik. "I have a great knowledge of elven lore, but not as much about the lesser races," he muses.
DoubleGold |
After the death of his family, Akhentepi took a mistress whom he planned to eventually marry. Preparations for a secondary tomb for her were begun here. When Akhentepi died unexpectedly, no financial provisions had yet been made to continue excavating her tomb. Further construction on his mistress's cryp was abandoned, and the tomb was sealed in its current state once Ahkentepi's the tomb was sealed in its current state once Akhentepi's interment was complete.
No left here so you move to room A17: Chamber of Grave Goods. This room holds several neatrly arrayed chests, boxes and urns. The dust of centuries covers every surface. The only exit is a set of double doors to the south. Your in characters know you have explored at least 90% of the tomb. The only rooms that are left to explore if there are any at all are the secret rooms, as you know for a fact you've explored all visibly connected rooms. Would you like to take a long rest here? You can do it before or after exploring this room here or just skip the long rest.
Map updated, upper left corner
Haron Lightstep |
I am down to one grit point but that is ok. So far I have been able to damage so few things it dosn't matter ;)
I am fine to move on.
Kroone |
I'm fine on resources, but I'll stop to rest if the spellcasters need to replenish.
Do you guys need some rest, my friends? - the Nagaji asks, while keeping his eyes in alert for the usual bugs, or other enemies that could appear - I'm fine to keep pushing our exploration, but if we are to take a pause, this might be the right place.
Silverback |
I'd been conserving resources and/or having spells that wouldn't help in combat, so I'm actually pretty good to continue.
"I do not require rest," Silverback says.
Nor'scrik |
"I'm having too much fun to rest! Nor'scrik is happy to keep going and rest later."
Kroone |
Ahead, then! Nor'scrik, my agile friend, would you mind going a little ahead of me for your usual trapfinding?
As he is waiting for the rogue's answers before taking his usual position on the marching order, he starts exploring the current room.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Impressive!
After all the search around (for anyone who wants to explore as well), Kroone takes position and draws his weapon ready to move.
