Mumbling with her face still on the table, Ok that good. I didn't wanna cross a line. They are nice horns. Resuming dozing until the food arrives and ravenously devouring what is before her. Then excusing herself to go get ready for the hopefully less traumatic adventures in the House of Giant Bugs and Flying Heads.

Unraveling the scarf and squinting at the brightness Deseri hands it back to Turel with a smile. Thank you it helped.

Moving back to stay out of the way Deseri waits for him to do whatever is needed to finish the haunt. She is watching with an inquisitive look though.

In the morning, Ra came in right as you were finishing breakfast.
"Good morning! You've eaten! Good! Time and daylight wait for no one! Let's go! Not finished? Take it with you!" He said brightly, picking up your plates, shoving them into your hands and physically shoving you out the doors.

Once past the gates into the Necropolis, he gave a great sigh of relief.

Earlier that Morning

When Aleris finally awakes, she blinks up at the ceiling in sleepy confusion - is this even her room? But then her attention is draw by sounds of movement and she glances over to see Harmose doing his best to try and slip out of bed quietly. Then she remembers why she's not in her own bed and smiles.

"Trying to let me sleep in?" she teases. "It doesn't work like that..." her voice trails off as she finally takes notice of the sunlight shining in through the window. "Or maybe it does!" she gasps, realizing that it's much later in the morning than they usually get started. She hastily climbs out of bed and then staggers as her limbs protest the sudden movement. "Whoops! The mind is willing but the flesh is still trying to wake up," she laughs, looking a little embarrassed.

"All of my gear is still in my room," she smiles as she gathers up her clothes. "Let me go tidy up and I'll meet you downstairs, okay?" A pause. "Um, Harmose? Thank you...last night was wonderful." She gives her betrothed a quick kiss and then heads back towards her room.

I guess I should tell Farhaan that I won't be needing my old room anymore... she smiles happily as she hurries to make herself presentable.

House of Pentheru Pt. 2

Heh...what a morning this has been...

By the time she'd made it downstairs earlier it was clear that nearly everyone was feeling the effects of the previous evening's festivities - in one way or another. She had to admit that she hadn't even been sure that returning to the Necropolis today was a wise idea but for some odd reason Ra-Khefer had seemed especially eager to get back to it.

Maybe he's relaxing a little about this whole thing after all!

Aleris nods and readies herself to call on Shelyn's aid if need be. "Sounds like a plan! Let's put this thing to rest."

I forget the exact order here but it looks like for the scroll itself Harmose or Deseri will need to cast it.

On Harmose's signal Turel stands next to the compound's outer gate and bends over, sprinkling the holy water at the base of the gate.

Harmose uses the scroll to magically repair the gate and Turel sprinkles the holy water to sanctify the site. You then once more re-enter the premises of the House of Pentheru, and close the gate behind you. (It may be reopened at will.) As the gate is repaired, sanctified and finally closed, you can feel as if a sigh of relief permeates the area, not audible per se, but more *felt* in your souls. The haunt has been laid to rest.

As the magic from the scroll and the holy water work their magic, Aleris feels the oppressiveness of the area lighten and breathes a sigh of relief. "Much better," she murmurs quietly. "Now we can finish looking around and with the holy water we should be able to take care of any other haunts that still linger."

She looks at the others. "I think the crypt outside is the only place we didn't get to yesterday. Or did we want to go take care of that swarm first while we're out here?"

Ra bowed his head in respect as the ceremony laid the haunts to rest.
Going to the eastside gate, Ra cracked the door, glanced through to make sure no ambush awaited in the eastside courtyard, then opened it up for the others to go through.
He glanced back at Deseri and Polux, still yakking away, and cleared his throat loudly.

I have had many june bugs fly at my hair and get stuck in it over my lifetime. It is a moment of true panic.

Spinning to look at Ra-Khefer and realizing he is waiting Deseri blushes. I suppose now is the time for less talking and more bug killing.

Mumbling, Is it me or has Ra-Kehefer seem to be acting odd as well? He is remarkably pushy today.

Qari was ready to kill that darned swarm. Back in exploration mode, she had fallen quiet again, in a different mood than her chipper one back in town. She was interested in learning more about her powers, and this building just might house a clue.

Samy, I had a question about spell preparation. Rather than hold up the game, I'll post now assuming that I was able to feed Burning Hands to Thera and memorize it today. I hope that is alright.

In addition to the alchemist's fires purchased by the group, Harmose had two of his own that were distributed out. So pretty much everyone has one that wants one.

Kito gets a worried look for a moment, then evidently changes her mind. Me? Lead the way?!? How am I going to..er....if I can keep my distance and force the swarm to,approach me it could work. On second thought, perhaps it would be easiest that way, less to coordinate.

Looking to Aleris, she asks "Would you mind if Thera sat on your shoulder until this is done? I don't want her hurt if I get too close to the swarm."

Kito, don't see any reason why Thera couldn't have learned the spell.

You approach the granary that the swarm had come out of yesterday. It seems it's still there. I think the door was left open in the panic, so the swarm can exit at will. If somebody closed it, then you'll have to open the door to engage the swarm again. Either way, you're headed into combat. Position yourselves on the map with the assumption that you can get right up to the door before the swarm activates. Roll your initiatives and describe your first actions. There isn't going to be a surprise round. On the swarm's initiative it will move out toward some of you, but I'll wait until I see your positioning before picking its target.

Can't move myself on the map atm but Aleris will stand one or two squares behind Kito. Also with a roll like that I think she'll at least delay until after Kito blasts it before doing anything.

Watching Turel play bait with a large swamp of bug is less than comforting. Knowing that everyone is about to throw fire in one for or the other makes it more nerve-racking. Standing silently behind Polux waiting to throw her vial of fire.

Adjudicating this is a little tough.

26: Harmose casts Bless.
17: Qari misses the swarm.
Aleris and Deseri delay to after Kito.
16: Swarm's turn.
14: I assume Polux's statement means he also delays after Kito.
11: Kito's turn, casts Burning Hands.
10: Then Turel and Ra-Khefer, and all the delayers.

My occam's razor says that the swarm gets to envelop Turel and attack him once, then Kito casts the spell, Turel is caught in it, then he can pull back so he isn't caught up in any of the rest of the deluge that starts. If that doesn't sound like a reasonable adjudication, make your case over in discussion thread.

Swarm dmg vs Turel: 1d6 ⇒ 6 plus make Fort save.
Kito's Burning Hands dmg: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6 9hp vs swarm
Swarm Reflex save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 full dmg

I believe Turel has a chance to Evasion the spell.

Aleris utters a cry of dismay as both swarm and fire engulf Turel for a moment, but she manages to keep her focus. Even as her companion runs for cover she brings her arm back and lobs the vial of liquid fire in her hand, aiming for the rear part of the swarm.

Alchemist's Fire (Ranged Touch; Range Penalty): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 2 = 15
Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

"Watch out, don't let it roll over you!" she cries as she falls back.

Aleris is aiming for one of the 'rear' squares to avoid hitting getting Kito or Ra-Khefer with splash damage. Then she'll move back a few paces.

Standard action was cast the spell, I should still have a move action left.

Seeing that she didn't get all of the swarm, Kito retreats after casting her spell.

"We should be able to move slightly faster than the swarm, if we can keep retreating. Get behind me before it moves again!"

Ra steps up and swung his flaming torch through the swarming scarabs, dealing 1d3 ⇒ 1 fire damage to them. He tries especially to fend off the ones crawling over his teammates, like Turel.
