***RAWR!!!***

Fabric rips between sight, mind, and screen as Cargas enters the thread.

"I summon myself from the aether and into this thread! Let the circuits tremble and the pixels quake at my coming!"

Cargas dusts himself off and removes he silver cord attached at the waist.

"Pirates, eh? You wish me to be a pirate? I shall ponder the depths of my black soul and darkest intents for a character worthy of this group."

Cargas seems to be nothing more than a seagoing dwarf, dressed as a porter and longshoredwarf...likely because that is exactly what he is. His beard is unkempt, and his face is tanned.

He gives a stink eye around the discussion thread, as if waiting for others to show up and, at the same time, annoyed that he's first to arrive.

I'll keep track of my positive possessions rather than cross off all the stuff I don't have, if that's alright. ;)

That's fine, I suppose. :)

So, I'm guessing this means I'm also without a spellbook, yeah?
And as it seems we're in our clothes, would they have removed my bandolier entirely or just snatched the daggers out of it?

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Yeah. And probably just snatched the daggers...

So I have a bandolier AND a compass! Haha! Nice.

Do we still have any spells memorized from the day prior or are they lost without the chance to prep today?
(does me little good without a spell component pouch, but it might matter for Redfingers) =P

I've begun listing the other crewmembers you encounter in the campaign thread. There will be a lot of NPCs in this one, and I will note that I found it really helpful to keep track of them also -- and my relationship with each -- in a tab in my character sheet when I got to go through this as a player. Obviously up to you if you want to do so or not, but thought I'd offer the suggestion.

Motte, was the name of the whip guy? The one that Cargas doesn't hate?

You have no idea.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Just FYI, I'm going rules light at the moment. Just role-play what you want to do and I'll see what you can manage. I will -- probably come morning in the game -- start laying out some more rules with what your options are each day and night.

I watched some let's plays on youtube of The Witcher 2 just prior to the release of The Witcher 3 at the recommendation of a friend of mine. Not sure if any of you are familiar with the game, but there's an antagonist who shows up early on named Letho - he's kind of what I have in mind for Sicarius' build.

Provided he survives his whipping now, I think he could be a great deal of fun to play! =)

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

FYI, I lied. Rosie wasn't helping out Nim. She's just friendly, not helpful. :)

Post has been edited to reflect that.

FYI, may not get a chance to update until Sunday.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

After giving it a bit of thought during my recent busy-ness, I decided I should probably start telling you folks' names. We're obviously not role-playing every moment of time on the ship and it's silly to think you couldn't learn people's names...

So: You were set upon by Jaundiced Jape, the yellow-skinned half-orc; Fipps Chumley, the heavy-set human; Slippery Syl Lonegan, the slender human woman; Tam “Narwhal” Tate, the big-nosed dwarf; and Aretta Bansion, the woman with a prominent set of ears. Gezza's spell knocked out Fipps, Syl and Aretta. I've updated the list of crew in the campaign tab, though there are still plenty of folk you haven't interacted with at all -- if that persists, I'll add them in as you become aware of them through osmosis and let you know.

OK, back to regularly scheduled action...

Oh, we will definitely eventually do multiple days. There's a change in routine coming up which is why we didn't do it yet. It's really all how much effort you want to put into it; I could easily have said Nim befriends Ratline, but this gives you much more of an impression of the character. It's just trying to figure out how to do that for 18 or so NPCs that's the trick.

I feel like I've given you far less of a feel for Fipps and Jaundiced Jape, for example, than we had in GM Rapscallion's game, which is annoying me, but just the way it's worked out to a degree.

Not sure if it was clear or not, but my intent was to distract from Cargas' whipping (and perhaps even prevent it) by goading Fibbs and Jape into a 2v2 with Sicarius and Cargas. Though our pugilistic dwarf seems to have missed/not responded to the act in its entirety =P

The ol' ball and chain's coming home tomorrow for a week, so I'm not sure how much posting I'll be doing until the 30th or 31st. May still have some time, but if I don't, I haven't disappeared for good.

(That goes for this thread and Reign of Winter, of course.)

That's awesome news, dude! I hope the time you guys have while she's home is full and it takes like 80 weeks for this one week to pass.

Sorry, guys, this one's a pain in the butt to update -- seems like there are never simple quick updates. I got next to no sleep last night, so I think I'm probably not going to get to it today, but will definitely do so tomorrow. If I get a second wind, I'll post an update tonight, though.

We should be beyond this section of the module pretty soon, I think/hope, and then we should be able to move a little faster.

I just wanted to keep posting, to keep momentum. I know this first book is ass, which is why it fails more often than any other AP in PbP. Cargas just wants to keep things moving, at least for his character.

Take your time, Motte, Cargas will be here, still rowing out to see in a rowboat that does not exist.

Just a head's up folks, I'll be off on my annual camping trip up at my buddy's cabin that we, in the height of blessed nerdiness, like to call CabinCon.

There's no reception up there and I'll be heading out Thursday afternoon and I'm expecting to be back sometime Monday. If anything important happens in game while I'm gone, Brood can help by scowling at it.

Yeah, that's one of the downsides of this mod -- it takes forever to level up at the star, so it's tough to put a rank into some skills if you don't already have them. Of course, the DCs are generally low enough that the moment you get a rank in the relevant skill, it's all but automatic that you'll succeed.
