Before, in the hut
”No, no! Please relax. I am not here to act against you. I am only here to help you. You have done nothing wrong”, Linah pleads trying to calm Kyson and tries hard to hide the hint of a smile. Based on the varying descriptions she had gotten of Kyson from different members of the monastery she was not sure what to expect. Meeting the scribe she realized that they all had been correct in their own way. ”Please sit down.”

Present
Linah bows to the woman and man each in turn. Not quite sure what to expect she speaks a arcane phrase and places her hand to her mouth.

Kyson calms just enough to realize that he may have just argued his way out of a spanking from Linah and was wondering how to feel about it. He decides that he should feel relieved, rather than afraid, that Linah his here.

"Uhm...why are you here again? Are you here to take me back? Can we go back? I mean, we should take the others with us, but it's time to go back?!? Have you heard that I'd done things!? I have! I have! I've seen dinosaurs and exploding monkeys and mummies and gargoyles and foul monkey demons! I think we can go back to the monastery now," Kyson implores, realizing how much he hates the jungle and the not-scones.

Zstelian stares into space as he parses the woman’s story. Lavinia was alive and ahead of them, headed to Farshore. Lavinia. Was. Alive.

Filled with a renewed energy since the deaths of Khaz and Silvio, the old ranger looks to the Keleshite woman for more answers. ”How long along did you see Lavinia? Was she well?”

Suddenly the notion of staying within the village’s walls overnight was maddening. ”How much farther is Farshore from here?”

Linah, it's about a 30-mile trip south to the Olman village of Mora, from where you can get canoes to take you across to Farshore itself.

Linah sits down next to Kyson trying to look as nonthreatening as possible. ”I am afraid that I not for me to decide. I am here to see to it that you remain unharmed through your journey. I cannot tell you where it ends. That decision lies with Lavinia, who I am sure will be very happy to see you alive”, she says trying to reassure Kyson as much as she can while bringing him the bad news.

Suddenly the notion of staying within the village’s walls overnight was maddening. ”How much farther is Farshore from here?”

”I last saw Lavinia four days ago, when I left Farshore to travel here. She was in good health but concerned for your well being. There is a another village, Mara, a bit over a days walk south from here. There we can get canoes and paddle the rest of the way to Farshore. We could get to Mara within a day if we hurry but I do not know how if the rest of your party is able to do that”, she answers Zstelian before growing quiet when she realized what she said. ”Are there more of you?” she asks cautiously.

@Motteditor:

Is that math OK? I used the numbers from the d20pfsrd Exploration and Movement section, where a days travel is said to count as 8 hours of walking. With 3 miles per hour times 0,75 for the terrain (I figured Road/Trail through a jungle) brings it to 13 hours and 20 minutes to get to Mora. Then a few hours to row to Farshore? That would make it about 2 days travel to get to Farshore. I figured I’ve been here for another 2 days so that would total up to 4 days since I saw Lavinia. Is that reasonable?

That all works fine for me, though the village is Mora, not Mara.

Linah translates as the villagers explain you are welcome to stay and rest if you wish. When you are ready to move on, they will take you south, where you can have someone bring you to your own village.

Let me know how long you want to stay here and what, if anything, you want to do.

"We're not going back? And you don't have scones!? Nor cookies!?!!" Kyson sniffles.

I guess it could be worse... Kyson's eyes flicker to Khaz and his mind reflects briefly on Silvio's funeral pyre.

"Well, I guess I'm glad you're here, but if we get back to the monastery, I'll be sure to mention the lack of morning cookies and scones to our superiors. It's going to be hard to protect me when I'm dead from lack of scones," Kyson snuffles, biting back his disappointment.

I was uncertain we could get the diamonds here. Sweet. Let's get Khaz back in the game.

Kyson asks the leaders about where he can get diamonds, lots of diamonds (unless the fancy ring is $$$ enough to cover).

Assuming he gets enough dust, Kyson will make plans to raise Khaz at morning's light.

Sensing wrath from the Sun God (or some other unnameable source), Kyson decides he better get to work raising Khaz right *NOW*!

Taking the big f*@+ing diamond ring, Kyson smashes the big f*@+ing diamond ring into big f*@+ing diamond ring dust, pouching it carefully for later use in the ritual.

Kyson, with all somber seriousness, will cast Raise Dead, using thebig f*@+ing diamond ring dust to bring the Princess back to the sun.

Somewhen Elsewhere:
One by one the people in front of her continue onward and step by step she follows. Ahead, a spectral warrior questions the souls as they walk in the queue. Most he sorts out immediately; a flash of sunlight or flame or darkness herald their exit. Wicked chains gather a few, tearing them to pieces before they are even fully gone. Most go quickly, the sorting over in nothing more than a breath - if one still breathed.

Others, trudge ever forward, spiraling up to the impossibly tall spire to Pharasma's own judgment. If Khaz's heart still beat in her chest, the world would rock with the speed and force of her fear as she watches the trail of souls.

"Blessed Lady of Fiery Redemption, if ever I have strayed I beg forgiveness now."

She tries to think of all the prayers of her youth, but newer ones crowd them out. Words of warmth and redemption and the joy of a new day win out over the wailing pleas of her fearful years as a child of the desert.

Hundreds of people stand in front of Khaz, then three, then one. As the man in front of her grovels for a second chance, the clouds above them both part.

Please don't let it be the chains!

Those taken by the chains have surely earned their fate, but it is an ugly thing to witness.

No chains, but a beam of sunlight pierces the heavens and shines down upon Khaz's face. The warmth, especially welcome after the interminable nothingness, brings a glow missing from her cheeks for a long while.

"Glorious Flower of the Dawn! I am ready!"

If the Lady would take her now, she would go happily in a glow such as this.

"छैन अझै। के तपाईं सुन्नुहुन्छ छ? उहाँले तपाईंलाई फिर्ता हुनेछ। म तपाईंलाई फिर्ता हुनेछ। तर विकल्प ... तपाईंकै हो।"

The voice falls upon her like light on water, warming her being, breathing life back into her soul.

"Not yet. Do you hear him? He would have you return. I would have you return. But the choice...is yours."

Ahead, the groveling man has gone and the Spectral Warrior waits. It is her turn. He is not one for waiting, that one.

Khaz steps out of the line and throws her arms wide with a grin.

"Another time," She whispers to the waiting Sorter of Souls.

Her head falls back as her heart calls to the heavens.

"Radiant Mother of the Redeem'd! I am ever Yours. Take me home, that I might walk in Your light and do Your bidding!"

Khaz stretches in the warmth of the tropical air, the last rays of the day lighting her ashen face. She jerks suddenly as her heart remembers the beat, stuttering at first, then falling steadily into a familiar rhythm. Color suffuses her cheeks, turning their gray to a lovely olive green once more. Her mouth is dry, but she smiles, her lower tusks jutting forward as her lips draw back.

It is her eyes that open last, focused for one more moment on the love of her goddess, but then she blinks, opening them to look for Kyson.

"You brought me home."

It is a stupid thing to say, as things go. But she realizes it's true. Where her friends are, there will her home be also.

The Lady has willed it so.

Figure I'll move you on, but please feel free to continue to retcon reaction...

With Khaz restored, a few villagers escort you to the village of Mora, 30 miles to the south. From there, you're put into a number of simple canoes and taken to the island Temute, where Farshore is. As you approach, though, it becomes obvious that trouble is afoot. You see plumes of smoke rising in the air, and screams and the unmistakeable sounds of battle reach your ears. As the villagers row you closer, you recognize Lavinia's ship, the Blue Nixie, docked at one of several piers along with multiple smaller ships. Yet there is one ship that does not belong, a rugged-looking caravel with red sails and a crimson jolly-roger flying from its main mast! Zstelian, your trait is now active!

--

You convince the villagers to drop you off, but they immediately turn and row away before anyone can take notice of them.

Screams fill the smoke-filled air as cackling, howling men dressed in filthy armor and waving rusty, ragged weapons press the attack against Farshore's unorganized defense. Up the hill, several buildings have been lit on fire, and issuing from one nearby are frantic screams Building 1 on map. Lying in the sand in front of another building No. 2 is the body of a well-dressed man with a bloody wound to the chest and a savage gash across his face. His body is surrounded by fragile glassware spilled from a case he was carrying. His chest rises and falls feebly, though for home much longer is uncertain.

Farther south, a large band of filthy men are happily smashing in the windows of what appears to be a chapel No. 3. More pirates are busy trying to bash in the chapel's front doors with a heavy wooden beam. Terrified screams coming from within punctuate each of the ram's blows.

Nearby, a hulking half-orc with blotchy, yellow skin and a leering toothy smile chases a red-haired young woman around a neighboring building, shouting lurid propositions. No. 4

Deeper in the village, a group of young men armed with swords make a stand against what appears to be the pirate leader, a tall and dangerous-looking human who laughs as he deflects their attacks with obvious ease. No. 5

Finally, a group of colonists desperately tries to extinguish a fire consuming a large building to the southeast, while others brave the flames to rescue its contents. More commotion can be heard from deeper in the village, but the thick billowing smoke effectively masks what is transpiring there. No. 6

"He's not all bad. There is some parts of him that are funny...those parts that aren't disgusting. He has risked his life to keep us alive and so I'll do the same for him."

Kyson straightens Khaz's gargoyle crown in preparation for the ceremony, wishing the princess had remembered to use it.

”It will take some time getting use to it I guess”, Linah says and continues working. ”Lavinia spoke highly of all of you, I have no reason to doubt her. I am thankful for the opportunity to get to know you. ”

During the ritual Linah studies the attendants with a still excitement. They all looked so weary after what they had been through Linah was anxious to see them smile when they got the first bit of good news in a long time.

Khazmia Makuhuzdia wrote:
"Where are we? And... who are you?" she says, taking in the woman in robes.

Linah’s smile almost splits her face in two when she greets the newly risen Khazmia. It had been hard watching the battleworn faces of the survivors so when their spirits were lifted, so was Linah’s. ”My name is Linah Jamil’Kaid and it is a honor to finally meet you. We are in the village of Tanaroa, two days journey of Farshore.”

Traveling to Farshore
Linah takes the opportunity of the journey to better get to learn the colonists. She takes the time to speak with each of them but doesn’t stray to far away from Kyson, should a danger suddenly present itself.

Present day
”No, what is this? Row faster!” Linah urges when the smoke pillars come into view. She quickly jumps on the shore when the canoes reach the island and start to make her way up the hill, drawing her scimitar as she goes. ”We must help them. Kyson, stay close!”

The link to the combat map is broken. I get a error message (file does not exists) when I try to reach it.
Linah will want to get within channeling range of the bleeding man first.

Map should be up now.

Yep, looks good. Linah wants to run within channel distance of the dying man then move to 1 and try to get the people out of the burning building. Then move up to the square around 3 and 5. That's probably more than one round of actions though :)

Yeah, just a little bit. Will wait to see everyone else's plan.

Sekathral helps (if needed) with building 1, then cocks his pistol and prepares to go for the pirate leader.

2:Lying in the sand in front of another building is the body of a well-dressed man with a bloody wound to the chest and a savage gash across his face.

3:Farther south, a large band of filthy men are happily smashing in the windows of what appears to be a chapel. More pirates are busy trying to bash in the chapel's front doors with a heavy wooden beam. Terrified screams coming from within punctuate each of the ram's blows.

4:Nearby, a hulking half-orc with blotchy, yellow skin and a leering toothy smile chases a red-haired young woman around a neighboring building, shouting lurid propositions.

5:Deeper in the village, a group of young men armed with swords make a stand against what appears to be the pirate leader, a tall and dangerous-looking human who laughs as he deflects their attacks with obvious ease.

6:Finally, a group of colonists desperately tries to extinguish a fire consuming a large building to the southeast, while others brave the flames to rescue its contents.

Kyson casts Air Walk (90 minutes) and begins to walk up at 10' (or higher to avoid the flames).

He joins moves directly towards #3, mostly to see if the chapel is one to Sarenrae and figuring out exactly how angry he should be.

"They better not be trying that on *MY* church!!!"

Hurray! Trait-time!

Zstelian curses. Pirates, here? They’d come too far to have it taken from them now. Galvanized in a new way, the old ranger reaches for his weapons and moves toward the brutish half-orc.

”Khaz, Linah, stay with Kyson.”

Do we see any villagers or evildoers around 1?

I really wish I had prepared Expeditious retreat right now...

Khazmia flicks her wrist, drawing a wand from her wrist sheath and casts mage armor on herself, then follows Kyson.

Round 1
Linah rushes tomward the injured man, channeling Sarenrae's light to heal him. He gasps and opens his eyes as the bloody slash across his chest closes. Linah, you don't see anyone around the burning building (1)

Sekathral makes it to the burning building, where he can hear choked cries for help from inside.

Kyson climbs into the air toward the chapel, which does indeed seem to be dedicated to Sarenrae, as Zstelian pulls his weapons and begins moving into town toward the hulking half-orc, hoping to close the remaining 300 feet between them before he can grab the girl.

The other colonists huddle in the dubious safety of the pier as Khazmia draws a wand and casts mage armor.

Kayle's a lot faster than Zstelian is. She should be able to get there before him.

Zstelian whistles sending Kayle into the air and takes off at a sprint toward his target. "Stay away from her!" he shouts.

Human Cleric 7 | hp 36/51 | channel 6/7

Linah wastes no time after emitting the positive energy to stabilize the wounded man. She turns and heads towards the burning building (number one) when she notices the other colonists. "Come with me! There is someone trapped in the building, we need to get them out!" she calls out passing them.

"Do you see anyone in there?" she asks Sekathral when she joins him outside the burning building. "Who is in there? Where are you?" she calls out into the flames.

Run to 1. Try to get the colonists to help.
