Pems, like a basilisk, these things can turn anything that meets their gaze to stone. A creature petrified in this matter that is then coated (not just splashed) with fresh dragolisk blood (taken from a dragolisk no more than 1 hour dead) is instantly restored to flesh.

Mal plummets from the sky as he suddenly turns to stone, landing with a dull thud on the wall of the keep.

Pems heals you all as you scatter, Tsin and Pems turning their attention to your foes, while Hektir neutralizes the danger of the dragolisk's gaze. Very nice, Hektir.

The creature shrugs off Pems' icy tomb and makes a beeline toward the halfling, its glaive cutting deeply. 19 hp

The creature Tsin hit wings up toward her, its fangs sinking deep into her flesh 14 hp; I wasn't quite sure who you were trying to draw, so I kind of took a guess based on where you flew, though Quinn's able to duck away from his opponent's teeth.

When the wizard hits, the bird looses a panicked squawk and starts zipping up and down the length of Malavarius' petrified form, pecking earnestly in search of some soft spot. Round 3
The first dragolisk falls beneath the might of Hektir and Tsin's blows, its pieces plummeting to the ground, blood turning the snow a sickly green.

Quinn averts his eyes from the other, his first jab going toward what turned out to be nothing but a shadow, but his other still landing in the creature's shoulder, though it hits bone before it can penetrate deep enough to be truly deadly. Unfortunately for him, his eyes are averted still when the creature lunges at him, its jaws sinking deep into his torso 13 hp.

Pems edges away from the dragonkin attacking him, though the tower at his back cuts off his retreat. Still, casting carefully, he aims a lightning bolt at the dragonkin's center mass, hitting it before it has a chance to react. Despite the massive surge of electricity, the creature is undaunted and its glaive finds purchase in Pems again and again, before it closes slightly more and sinks its jaws into the halfling. 21, 21 and 10 hp, 52 total, which I think leaves Pems unconscious.

Zephtyr smiles airily, expecting that answer. Quinn didn't give up on the halfelf after the first slap, nor the second, but even after the third nearly laid Quinn low, Quinn was able to walk away like a man. Just like he would walk away now after this fight.

Zeno continues to frantically flit up and down the length of his stonified wizard earnestly trying to find a spot that's soft. Seeing one of the dracolisks fall a short distance away, the little thrush wings through the air as quickly as he can to the fallen creature and scoops up little more than a thimbles' worth of its blood in his beak.

With fear plain in his wide, black eyes, Zeno then rushes back to Malavarius, dropping some of the blood on the wizard's nose. "Turn back already! Bah! You're horrible at this, you old goat!" When the stone doesn't melt to flesh after a few moments, Zeno rushes back to the dead thing, returning again with a beak full of blood. Over and over again, the little bird pushes himself, his wings beating as quickly as they can as the smart mouthed avian tries to save his wizard.

Hektir, Quinn and Tsin take down the remaining dragolisk, thanks to tht Cayden's blessing granting them extra speed and prowess. The loss apparently puts a fright into the dragonkin, which immediately takes turn and flees, wings carrying it swiftly out of the fort's airspace. It flies 240 feet, likely out of your range, though you can follow if you want. If not, combat is over.

Zephtyr grabs Quinn and drags the drunkard rapiering hero down to Pems.

"You check on him, I'll go find Mal."

Zephtyr goes to look where Mal fell, hoping the old coot didn't shatter too badly.

As Quinn heals Pems, Tsin and Hektir find Mal's stony form perched precariously on the wall of the fort, Zeno frantically squawking at it.

I'm going to let you guys role-play, so let me know when you're ready/want to move on. If you want to play out getting the blood onto Mal, so be it. If this weren't PBP, I'd ask how you're going to do it, but as is, if you just want to assume you can and play out what happens afterward, that's also fine with me. Let's show why we're the best PBP group on the boards. :)

Zephtyr grunts and groans as he not only puts Mal upright (well, as upright as the StoneMal will get, it's large stony head requiring a few rocks under the right side to get it to balance) and also atop one of the walls.

Zephtyr seems pleased that Zeno is trying to paint the statue red. He calls over to Quinn and Pems, seeking aid.

"Quinn? QUINN!? I need help up here!" Zephtyr airs mightily as he waits for the holy warrior to attend him at the top of the wall and Mal's statue.

"This is important, Quinn! I need your attention!" Zeph waits until Quinn is listening.

"Quinn, you too Zeno, where to you think Mal would want to remain a statue for all time? Given his affection for Zeno, he probably wants to be in an area with many pigeons? I think Zeno has the right idea...Mal wants to be covered in scraping and leavings of birds for all time, right?"

"I don't know for sure what Mal would want or how he'd want to be remembered, but being surrounded by birds seems right, don't it?"

Zeno stops his frantic trips to the crushed form of the nearby dracolisk and listens to Hektir, blinking at him once, then twice, then a third time with his head cocked inquisitively to one side. Then, without warning, the little thrush seemingly transforms into a storm of feathers and curses as he zips around Hektir's airy form, the little bird's body blurring with the motion, as he tries to find some fleshy part to peck.

Somewhere within the high pitched torrent of profanities, Zeno can be made out to be chastising the tracksmage for his brazen and abject stupidity. "You help my wizard this instant or I will feed your balls to the next cursed squirrel I see!"

Tsin looks off at the distance for a short while longer, watching for a looming effect to demonstrate the dragonkin's return, with or without backup. When she's convinced that they are relatively safe from renewed attacks, she turns her attentions on the bird baiting while the bird bathes the batty bas relief.

She moves to the downed dracolisk, hacking off its tail while maintaining it in a downwards position. She hopes to drain as much blood from the base of the tail into the tip, so she needs only one trip to the statue. She leaves her falchion on the ground, so she may manage the viking's horn tail, saturated in the much-needed blood.

Arriving at Mal's upright stony figure, she takes it in for a moment. The startled look on the old man's face is a sight to behold, mere moments before the stone set in. The mouth, slightly ajar, the now uniformly-colored stone teeth, the tongue fixed in mid-wag. Even the spittle at the corners of his mouth have been incorporated into the statue's presentation. She brings one hand from the tail, and scratches at the stony spittle, removing it mostly. She barely manages to avoid chipping a nail. She reaches around the side of the head, breaking off a couple of ear-hair stone spindles, hardly disgusted with its current state.

She almost forgets the full tail in her arms, watching her companion stand in such stillness. Never a more alien quality to this master of magics. So constantly is he in motion that this seems ever more blasphemy to the man's disposition.

She begins to pour the blood. She targets the man's head, where she's bound to cover actual skin and hair, waiting to see its effects, before covering more of the old man's body from the head down. She applies it conservatively, aware that they have only two dead dracolisks to work from, in case an old stone man requires more blood than a young one.

She considers at the last, what Mal will feel when the stone turns back to flesh. She only half-smirks, when she realizes that certain parts of the old man might be better off petrified. She hopes he won't regret the return of the saggy skin to all corners of his frame.

Seeing the fury of Zeno, Quinn decides against the permanent roost for the talking pigeon and sets to helping Tsin, grunting and straining as he drags the corpse of the dragonkin closer to the stoned wizard. "Geez, Tsin, why did you cut off the tail, that was like a natural rope for dragging it around. On the plus side, once we cover Mal in dragon blood he shouldn't smell so much like an old man anymore."

Once it's apparent the mage is made malleable again, Tsin wipes her hands in wet snow, before returning in flight to retrieve her falchion. "Welcome back, Malavarius. Stiff neck? Lock jaw? Anything feel out of place?" She waits for Pems and Mal to feel more fully restored, before encouraging them all to get inside, her head flicking towards the tower.

Zephtyr ponders wiping off the blood from <that one spot> to aid the old man in performing his manly duties should Mal find a lovely crone or hag that he wishes to couple with. He decides against it and offering any overt help except to take the other dracolisk over to the other stoned soldiers to see if they might be revived as well. I believe some of the fight intro fluff had a few victims.

Zephtyr will spread the blood around as best he can and hope for the best. When that is done (and if Mal is back to 'normal'), he is ready go back to meeting Commander Fooferall.

"Mal, get your doddering dodo off of me and keep it off of me."

Quinn watches in awe as Mal is transformed back into flesh. "It's really amazing that he's even still alive, just in general. That old and always stumbling around in dangerous situations while looking for his hat. You'd think he would have been turned to stone ages ago."

Malavarius coughs briefly as his fleshiness returns then shoots a look at Quinn, "I already was, thank you very much. Blast that Jadrenka and her bison. And blast these invaders and their basilisk halfbreeds!" Zeno then, revealing none of the fierce concern he'd been showing moments before, flits over to plunk down in the bowl of his wizard's hat. "You were a terrible statue! Stop turning into one!"

Malavarius pokes his hat with the head of his staff, "Yes, yes, Zeno. I'm glad you're ok too." Turning then to the others, he offers with a relieved puff off breath that makes his beard leap, "Well. Thank you, all." He pats his arms and legs, twists around to try and look over his shoulder at his back, then offers brightly, "No more stony bits! Good!"

Tsin decides on drained tail, bringing it with her as they enter the Tower. Only when she sets her eyes on Pharamol does she drop the tail, for the Commander to see, in the Conference Room. She waits for him to commend them, reward them, and release them.

With Mal restored, Hektir frees several other Triaxians from their stony embrace, one of them -- a particularly fuzzy and curvy woman -- giving him a wide grin as she realizes what happened and that he saved her.

"תודה, אאוטסיידר. אני אסיר תודה לך."

Draconic:

"Thanks, outsider! I'm in your debt."

After you make your way to Commander Pharamol, who greets you with a terse nod, as other Triaxians and dragonkin enter and exit bearing reports. Markers on a map of the fort show forces arrayed against you and in defense, and Pharamol appears to be studying them intently.

"Our thanks," he says. "My scouts told me of your help with the siege engines and I think your presence here has potentially been the difference between victory and defeat. If I read things correctly and know Malesinder as I think I do, we're near the tipping point, one way or another. If you wouldn't mind going to the top of the tower and keep an eye on things, help where you think you're needed, we would be even further in your debt."

Zephtyr spits, considering. He balances the idea that they have done enough against the fact that he doesn't know the value of the items they seek.

He nods, looks at Tsin & Quinn, then at Mal & Pems, to see if they want to speak more. If not, he was sort of having fun kicking ass and will happily hover above the top tower until needed.

So, you're admitting you're already in our debt. It should end here. But it won't, because men in command always ask for more of their soldiers. Even their deaths.

"What if we do mind, Commander? We've asked for the eagle, and for what we've done, you have offered thanks. What do we stand to gain for having you further in our debt? We do not want to take your glory. Shouldn't your forces be the true victors here?"

Tsin looks at Pems and Quinn for their contribution. She doesn't seek to anger the Commander, but understands that she often rubs people the wrong way.
