Surprise Round
"Jehoshaphat! Blasted witch of a warden, keep your wretched dead birds to yourself next time!" Malavarius tugs on his beard in frustration before quickly intoning a spell. As the arcane words finish, the old wizard sends a small bead of fire into the midst of the swarm which suddenly detonates in a bright and fierce explosion.

Tsin watches both fire and lightning greet the swarm of undead birds. She considers their ability to avoid her sword's punishment, as well as anything they'd be able to wreak in damage due to their blasphemous nature. I'll take DR and Special Attacks for 100, Alex.

Still, a few score continue to flap around, their horrid touch making your flesh crawl. Forgot: the ravens also have distraction; too late for Mal, but Tsin and Hektir need a third save, DC 18 Fort of be nauseated 1 round

Another save: Any creature within 10 feet of a hungry fog or currently being affected by its enveloping mists must succeed on a DC 8 Will save at the start of that creature's turn or become shaken for 1 round. An evil creature struck by the spear takes 1d8 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d8). An evil outsider instead takes 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 10d6) and is blinded for 1 round. A successful Will save reduces the damage to half and negates the blinded effect. This spell deals only half damage to creatures that are neither evil nor good, and they are not blinded. The spear has no effect on good creatures.

He would exult and strut around, but since he can neither speak nor strut in his airy form, he settles instead for making a few loops around the room looking for the witchywitch who needs a lesson in manners.
He sends several lighting claps down at random intervals, showing his displeasure at being unable to find a foe.

"Likely, bringing that scroll to bear upon us all will help keep our stamina up while we listen to Malavarius continue to harp on young people." Tsin would stare down the old man if her eyes were currently functioning. She settles for resting her forehead on her hand, hoping the cleric can bring about a restoration of her sight. She dabbles with the torn lids, trying to let some of the stickiness of the blood hold the tissue together.

While Tsin tends to her eyes and Hektir and Pemsworth puzzle over the scroll and other items, Malavarius grumpily scoops up the key Jadrenka had left behind. Tucking it into a pouch on his belt, the old wizard, perhaps ominously, looses a wet cough before turning his attention back to the others. "Well now. We're off to this so-called Eon Pit, yes? How do we get there from here? Did anyone bring a map?"

"Well now. We're off to this so-called Eon Pit, yes? How do we get there from here? Did anyone bring a map?"
Zephtyr whirls and spins by the north door, waiting for one of the sighted goons heroes to open it so that they may explore further.
Quinn Kestrel |
"This whole tomb is an Eon Pit because people waste eons exploring it. Mal, don't you have some magics that point us towards our goal? No, no, I suppose not, otherwise we would have found your hat long ago."
Malavarius King |
"Quinn! That's a fine idea, lad. Zeno? Zeno, wake up! We were just almost eaten by undead ravens and a willful fog, how are you asleep?! Listen now, remind me later: I need to invent a spell to help me find my good hat! Ha ha! What do you think of that, hmmm?"
Zeno, having fled from the encroaching raven corpses and taken shelter in the corner of the room minutes earlier, watches his wizard poke his hat with his staff and talk to no one in particular with a heavy sigh. He then remarks dryly before flitting back over to his perch atop the old coot's staff, "A fine idea. A wonder why nobody thought of it before."
