Apparently, this is no simple owlbear, but rather the legendary Owlbear of Bitter Destiny =(

Round 5:

Kereek
Akiros
Treshiell
Dovan
Jon
Agnar
Prazil
Orin
Bandits
Stag Lord

As Jon gets to his feet and moves to the unconscious bandit, Kereek casts his spell, all but one of the bandits below collapsing in a heap. Ah, that certainly makes my life easier. Thanks, Kereek! The remaining bandit, as well as the one in the tower, fire their bows at Kereek, but the canny kobold is able to avoid the arrows again.

Akiros swings again at the Stag Lord, but can't penetrate his former leader's armor, even with the man distracted by shaking off Treshiell's spell.

The man who moments earlier ran past you slashes Orin from behind with his rapier, slicing a long cut along the half-elf's ribs. 6 hp Moments later, his wounds are healed by Agnar and the ranger turns toward the surprise attacker, though the man easily parries his sword. Figured I'd have you attack Dovan instead, mostly because I think you'd have been rolling up a new character otherwise. Unfortunately, the dice might not have spared you regardless

As the fights rage around the fort, the owlbear lurches in, swinging at the ranger -- the nearest target. His mighty paw catches the ranger with a vicious blow, sending him across the room where he collapses in a heap. 19 hp

Prazil rushes past the bear, ducking under its swipe at him, and swings at the Stag Lord, who's able to duck away, but in the process leaves himself open for Fang's attack. 8 hp

"Mangy mutt," the Stag Lord curses, swinging at Fang, though the wolf's trip attack throws him off enough to prevent his blows from landing.

To Treshiell: "Too late for that! Save Orin! I'll hold it off for as long as I can...soon as I'm done gutting this pig!"

Question to the GM: Since Orin is down and dying, does he still technically count as occupying that square? I've changed my mind on my action, but it's still something that might come up later.

Agnar drops his bow again and extends his claws, steps in on the man with the rapier and attempts to shred him.

"Then we should exit", Treshiell says and steps up to Orin's body after Agnar has engaged the bandit who felled the ranger. She kneels next to the half-elf and places her hand hovering above his mortal wound. The air around the witch becomes cold as she pulls the wound from Orin, a thin swirl of crimson dust rising from the half elf towards Treshiell's palm.

I'm not sure where everybody is on the map. What i want to do is to take a move action and place myself adjacent to Orin, with Agnar blocking the way so Dovan can't get to me with a 5ft step, and i won't be the closest one to the owlbear. Then i'd like to drop prone so the Stag Lord has a harder time targeting me. Is this doable?

If Agnar steps up one square, you should be able to do that Treshiell.

Also, Kereek, you can see down into part of the fort I still have blacked out. It appears to be a storage area, with hides strung from a wooden frame partitioning off part of it. It also has the stairs leading up to the tower where the remaining bandit is shooting at you. The other bandit won't actually be able to shoot you after the next round -- you're kind of leaning over the edge of the roof to get them in your color spray.

Kereek drops painfully to the lower level, firing a splash of acid at the owl bear, which sizzles on the creature's back. 1 hp Before he can do anything else, however, the remaining bandit on the ground -- a man whose former good looks are marred by a broken nose and heavily bruised face -- rushes the kobold and tries to tackle him, but pulls up with a hiss as Kereek's claws slash his face. 1 hp

In the other room, Akiros hacks into the surrounded Stag Lord, a vicious blow that just misses severing the man's head from the rest of his body. 15 hp Moments later, as the stranger bolts outside the fort and to the west, the owlbear turns toward Akiros, slashing him across the back and pulling him into a tight hug.

Treshiell moves as close to Orin as she dares as the fight rages around her, her magic again healing the half-elf ranger while Agnar rushes to help, putting himself between the beast and Orin in the process, clawing the massive aberration. 6 hp Prazil also races to put himself between the fight and his injured comrade, dodging blows from the Stag Lord and Owlbear as he moves.

Take 2

Round 8:

Kereek
Akiros
Treshiell
Dovan, Owlbear
Jon
Agnar
Prazil
Orin
Bandits
Stag Lord

Kereek steps back, the burst of flame from his wand catching both the Stag Lord and the other bandit, though they're about to dodge out of the way of the worst of it. 3 hp; note that they made the saves in yesterday's rolls, so I didn't "re-roll" them.

Moments later, the bandit who led the owlbear toward the bulk of the group comes around the front, having run around the outside of the fort, and hurls a dagger at the kobold, hitting him in the side, nearly puncturing a lung. 6 hp damage

Jon drops down, and despite twisting his ankle in the fall 2 hp nonlethal damage, lashes out with his sword, knocking the blade out of the surprised bandit's hand.

Akiros drives his sword into the owlbear, a vicious blow that draws a gout of blood from the beast as it shakes off Treshiell's magic. It roars back, clawing and stabbing the man with his beak, and he falls, crumpling into a broken heap. His chest still rises, but it's clear that his life clings to his body only by the most tenuous of threads.

Agnar attacks the beast a second later, as it seems to stumble into his path slightly, letting one of his claws cut through the copious feathers that protect its head.5 hp damage; hit thanks to Treshiell's evil eye

Orin tries to execute another vicious cut on the badly wounded monster, but overextends, his swing going wide.

The bandit Jon disarmed steps back and scoops up a new sword as the Stag Lord grabs an arrow from his quiver, notches it and fires point blank at the paladin, and then just as rapidly repeats the action. The arrows hit the noble in the chest, one immediately after the other, and Jon collapses, his lungs pooling quickly with blood. 25 hp damage

Due to circumstances, I'm going to do the next round in initiative order and adjudicate as each person posts, since I think a lot of actions could end up changing based on previous actions.

"JON! JON JON FALL!" Kereek screams as the Bandit Lord's arrows strike home. Seeing the hated foe and the hated stabber of kobolds together, Kereek shrieks another wordless cry of rage and thrusts the Wand at them, avoiding catching Jon in the cone of fire!

Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6 Reflex DC 11 for half!

At the same time he draws a Potion of Cure Light Wounds, making ready to splash it on Jon as soon as he is able.

The bandit again ducks out of the way, avoiding the worst of the flame, though ugly burn blisters spring out on his arms and face. The Stag Lord also avoids the worst of the blast of flame, but the exertion appears to be too much for him, as he fails to get up, succumbing to unconsciousness as the weight of his wounds overcomes him.

POST HAS BEEN EDITED

LOL!

The two bolts of force hit the owlbear, which gives out a final hooting roar, and then falls to the ground, not moving.

Dovan steps back, and throws a second dagger at Kereek, hitting the kobold in the side again, and rendering him unconscious. [figured I'd just use his name to make it easier[/ooc]

Jon needs to make a stabilization check; then Agnar's up. Two bandits are visible from where he is, one (badly wounded, near the Stag Lord) with a short sword, the other in the doorway who just threw a dagger at Kereek. (A third is on the map but none of you are actually aware he's there.)

HP 76/76, AC 21, T 14, FF 18, F+5, R+7, W+8, Perc +12, Init +7

Sadly, the dagger hits Kereek. I never had a chance to cast Mage Armor... I was too busy being prisoner, then being bandit-enchanter...

Round 9, hp 15/20 AC: 16 until next round We've got maybe a minute left on the bless folks.

Agnar looks down the hall seeing Jon down and Kereek outnumbered two to one. With the beast felled, he raises his clawed hands and looks at the Stag Lord.

"Any time you mongrels want to give up, you just drop yer weapons. Meantime, I'll show you the power of the only true Stag Lord." He sprints across the floor, closing on the Stag Lord and slashing.

Charge attack on the Stag Lord: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Oops. Another man ... er, character ... down. Previous post has been edited.

Agnar, the Stag Lord is unconscious, as is Jon. There's a badly injured bandit standing next to his body and another uninjured bandit in the doorway, who just knocked out Kereek.

HP 76/76, AC 21, T 14, FF 18, F+5, R+7, W+8, Perc +12, Init +7

Agnar, the Stag Lord is down. May I suggest you hit the other bandit who is still up and fighting?

Also, any chance Kereek could have dropped his Cure Light Wounds Potion on Jon as he went down? At least to stabilize the poor man?"

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Sorry, no. I think he's got to drink it anyway.

Male Human (Ulfen) Cleric 10

Whoops, sorry. For some reason I thought it was the other bandit and not the Stag Lord who went down. Change the charge attack to the bandit that dropped Kereek. Hopefully I can get enough of them down that a channel will do more good than harm. Too many enemies I could accidentally allow back on their feet...including the owlbear!

Swift Dismount (DC 20): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17 Fail! Takes a Move action.
Prazil tries to slip quickly down off of Fang but his kettle-helm falls down over his eyes, muddying his attempt. He alights next to Akiros and tells Fang to go find Kereek and guard him.
Handle Animal (DC 10): auto-succeed, free-action

The kobold kneels down gingerly next to the reformed bandit who had so bravely fought the hornheaded head-horn man and the towering feathered claw beast beside him. Clumsily but with surprising tenderness, he attempts to keep the man from bleeding out. Standard Action to attempt First Aid.

Heal (DC 15): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 BOOM!

Fang obediently takes off to find Kereek, turns to the north and quickly rushes over to stand defensively between Kereek and the bandits, growling viciously as he does so.
