Prazil |
Hardly even breathing heavily, Prazil lowers his hammer after felling the last of the tatzlwyrms. After clipping it back onto his belt, he looks down at the dead thing, ".לך אני לא יריב ראוי, לא ערמומי, הדרקון. אני לא עצוב אתה מת" He then turns to Jon, pointing at Treshiell with one of his scaled fingers, "?היא תהיה בסדר"
"You am not worthy foe, sneaky not-a-dragon. Prazil am not sad you am dead."
-and-
"Am she ok?"
Agnar Hrolfson |
Agnar gives his weapon a savage twist to finish off his opponent, then leaves his spear planted in the dead wyrm and moves to Treshiell's side.
"Ah, girl, Orin warned you this could bite us in the ass later."
Unless there are any further complications or interruptions, Agnar's next actions are as follows once the wyrm Prazil dropped is confirmed as dead:
- Channel Energy to heal: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 healing for everyone.
- Heal check to determine the course of the poison in Treshiell's system, and help halt it if necessary: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
- Casting lesser restoration on Treshiell: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Con restored.
- And one more channel energy for good measure: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6 more healing.
Kereek! |
"Kereek's fault. Kereek's fault. Kereek not ever make mistake again! Kereek kill next monster! Kereek make sure Big Heroes never in danger again!" Kereek scowls at the dead worms and kicks the nearest one viciously. Summoning his claws he begins to vicious cut and rip at the worm's neck, severing its head from its body. Muttering he says, "Kereek trust stupid worm. Kereek nice to stupid worm. Kereek try to make friends with stupid worms. Stupid worms not dragons, stupid worms not worthy of dragon."
Prazil |
Prazil turns as Kereek starts jabbering on in the Big Feet's language and his eyes go wide as the red-scaled kobold starts clawing visciously at the dead tatzlwyrm. He runs over and tries to snap Kereek out of whatever savage madness grips him, "?האח! האח! הוא מת! הוא מת! מת! מה לא בסדר איתך? אתה הגמד הרע קסם אדיר! למה אתה זורק התקף זעם כמו גוזל"
Orin Ro |
Once all the tatzlwyrm's are down, Orin will knell beside Treshiell with her head on his thigh and hold her hand as Agnar administers to her, watching Kereek wreak havoc upon the dragonkin's corpse he thinks to himself "You go, boy!". Once her eyes flutter open Orin will smile at her "Too often have you been the one I first see when I open my eyes after being unconscious, I thought I would return the favor."
Assured that she is going to be alright Orin will arise and grab his sword going to the two remaining bodies and administer a coup de grace on each one all the while muttering under his breath "Sure, don't listen to me. I mean, after all what do I know?"
Treshiell |
Treshiell's eyes takes some time to focus as the witch opens her eyes. Dried blood stains her chin and trickles from her nose. "You have killed them. We are victorious", she states when she eyes the group. Thaal slithers up and nozzles her face, hissing calmly before coiling up on her chest. Treshiell grimace as she tries to move. The air around her hand crackles and there is a sudden flash of light as she places her hand on her side.
The witch takes Thaal and places him on her shoulder as she rises up, seemlingly unhurt, the dried blood and slashes clothes the only evidence of her earlier perdicament.

"In the future, we'll let those who know Erastil's will decide the fate of wild beast," Jon says, clearly aggravated by the tatzlwyrms betrayal. "Treshiell may well be healed but she should still rest, let's move on to second watch."
Jon also uses a lay on hands if anyone needs it.

Kereek! |
Kereek turns on Jon at his words. "Not beast! Beast eat, shite, screw, sleep! No think! Worms think! Talk like dragon. Betray like men! Kereek try make friends with worm! Give gift, make friends! No no no! Worms bad! Worms traitor worms! Kereek stupid to trust worms! Maybe Kereek just kill talking things we find? Be safe, eh? Safe?"
Prazil |
Prazil shakes his head as Kereek and the big feets seem to be steering toward an argument. He smiles and nods at Treshiell before wordlessly padding back over to the fire. As he does so, the grey-skinned kobold claps his hands three times while making a clicking noise with his tongue. A few seconds later Fang comes trotting over and curls up at the kobold's feet before the fire.
Prazil pokes the fire a few times with a long stick, stoking the coals to a bit more life. He then sits on the ground between Fang and the modest flames. He leans back into the wolf's fur, crossing his arms behind his head and sighs contentedly.
Orin Ro |
Orin is currently at 19 out of 33 hit points.
Orin chuckles as he listens to Kereek rant at Jon "You know, being related to dragons, he might be a little touchy about you comparing his cousin, however distant, to a beast."
Placing a hand on Kereek shoulder Orin looks deep into his eyes and says "The blood of dragon's flows through your veins little one so it's only natural that you would trust other dragons. But dragon's can be tricky little bastards and technically they did keep their word. They swore not to attack two legs unless they attacked them first, and I did shoot first."
Orin then looks up at Agnar "I wouldn't mind collecting that head, it was relatively undamaged and might make a good trophy. Also, I would like to get a look at their lair. I'm sure we're not the first travelers to cross their path. There might be something of interest there."
Agnar Hrolfson |
"Right then. Let's patch up these holes in you and get what rest we can before it gets light. Then we can double back."
Burning my prepared sound burst for a cure moderate wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5) + 3 = 9
"There, that takes care of the worst of it. You'll have more scars to add to your collection. That's not a bad thing."

Yay, Orin. I was hoping someone would notice that they did in fact keep their words. I was really trying to parse their vocab during your earlier dialogue.
The rest of the night passes uneventfully, and in the morning you make your way back to the tatzlwyrm den on the river.
"Someone appears to be stuck in the mud," Treshiell points out in her usual dreamy voice, pointing toward a glimpse of white bone that it's clear belongs to a humanoid skeleton wedged in the debris. While it's mostly bone at this point, its armor -- a suit of scale mail -- seems to have weathered the elements well, and it still clutches a nice swords in its bony grasp.
In the rubble and mud below the skeleton, you notice a rotting leather backpack. Pulling it out, you find it still contains 38 gp, 520 sp, a pewter drinking stein worth 12 gp, a silver ring worth 35 gp, a jade carving of a nude female elven monk worth 85 gp, and a watertight scroll tube.

Orin Ro |
Orin will take 3 GP's, 120 SP's. Everyone else will get 7 GP's, 80 SP's in coins.
Taking his time and use his leatherworking tools and remove the head from the dragon that he killed. Take 20= 26
Orin will then look at the armor and sword "Something must have helped these resist the ravages of being under water. Can someone see if there is magic involved here."
Orin will then crack open the scrolltube and look inside as well.
Prazil |
Prazil also lends his aid to building the cairn, using both arms to haul over some of the biggest rocks he can manage. He plops them down next to Agnar, allowing the more experienced human to stack them appropriately. Each time he does so, Kereek's tinier rocks jump and bounce from the impact.

Whoops. Longsword.
Treshiell looks up from where she seems to be throwing pebbles at the dam of debris and walks toward the items on the ground. Thaal slides down her arm and flicks his tongue at the armor. "Yes, Kereek is right. It is magic," she says, then turns and moves back toward the rubble.
Treshiell Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
That didn't help all that much.
Jon Surtova |
After helping Agnar with the cairn, Jon walks over to the abandoned belongings that everyone is crowded over. "What did you find?"
"We should have buried the poor soul with his belongings. But I suppose it's best not to desturb their rest anymore."
Sadly Jon does not have and likely never will have access to detect magic, so his spellcraft ability won't help.
Kereek! |
Kereek tilts his head and scratches his chin. "Well, kobold worship Lamashtu for good egg hatching. And dragons! Dragons make kobolds like dragons. Dragons not gods. Dragons dragons. But why gods? Kobolds give Lamashtu sacrifice, no make difference with eggs. Some eggs hatch, some eggs not hatch. Gods give magic? But why? Kereek have magic! Kereek no need god to give magic. Why gods matter?"
Agnar Hrolfson |
Agnar's face screws up at Kereek's mention of the Mother of Monsters. "By the horns, maybe that purple one and his statue were a blessing in disguise. The gods...well, many of them, anyway...have a vested interest in helping mortals. Yes, you have magic, but my magic allows me to help those that need Erastil's aid. I can heal wounds, deter attacking animals, cure venom from bites. If the situation calls for it, I can use my magic to attack as well, if that's necessary."
The big man runs a hand through his hair, then tugs on his beard a moment, collecting his thoughts.
"Lamashtu is selfish and evil. She wants to her creatures to thrive and overrun the lands where big folk live. Whether all your eggs hatch or half of them, she has thousands of other kobolds, goblins, and others to do her bidding as well."
"Erastil is an old god, and his are old ways. The hunt, the harvest, the strength of family and community. He crafted the first bow and gave it so that humans could face the challenges of feeding themselves and their families. His are the old ways, the simple life. As I'm sure Jon knows, this can cause problems between followers of Erastil and other gods...like Abadar."
Orin Ro |
Orin will tie the severed tatzlwyrm head across Windswift's haunches, Once secured he will walk over to listen to Agnar's discourse with Kereek, once he finishes Orin will ask the priest if he can cast a spell that will help retard the aging process on his trophy "We probably won't be heading back to the fort anytime soon, so anything that can keep it from spoiling would be appreciated."
Can Agnar do a Spellcraft check on the armor?
Once everybody is finished going over the lair Orin will suggest that they continue northeast toward the old temple to let Jhod know about the Erastil lodge they found earlier.
Prazil |
Prazil blinks at his brother and Agnar uncomprehendingly then shakes his head in bewilderment. He then directs Fang over next to Treshiell and strikes up a delightful conversation with her regarding radishes and Thaal, during the course of which he receives the occasional unsolicited blunt observation of one of their companions.

"Erastil is no Lamashtu but he does tend to hold his followers back with the misguided notion that older simipler ways are better. Even so, he is a just God and Abadar considers him a valued ally dispite their differences. The same can't be said of Lamashtu, who wars with her only friend."
Agnar Hrolfson |
"Hmph. Misguided... We can save arguments of theology for later though. Kereek, not everyone that worships Erastil is a cleric. His blessings are more than magic. He provides for good harvests, plentiful game, and safety and protection for family. If those things are important, then Erastil should be important. Old Deadeye isn't the easiest god to worship, but then faith is never easy."
Agnar pauses to pick a burr from his horse's mane.
"Next time we're in camp and I can get Treshiell to pay attention, I'll tell the two of you about how I was called into Erastil's service. Perhaps that will make things more clear."
Agnar Hrolfson |
"Possibly. When a god's followers die, their souls collect in Pharasma's Boneyard. There they are judged. Those that worship a deity move on to that deity's home and their just rewards. The souls of those that reject the gods are Pharasma's alone to judge. It's said that those who are unworthy are sent back to be reborn, and not always as what they were before. One might come back as a goblin, or an animal."

Obviously feel free to continue the religion discussion and continue whenever ready (or do both at the same time)
As the discussion about religion continues -- Treshiell makes a few uncomfortable points -- you finish exploring the rest of the area around the tatzlwyrm den without incident.
Heading northeast after an uneventful night, the ground just east of the Skunk River slumps away into a soggy mire, notable for the fact that a pair of ruined stone buildings jut from the soggy ground.
As you approach, you hear a loud croaking noise, and see a large lumbering, pale purple frog-like creature with sickly green eyes, a healthy covering of slime, and two huge, walrus-like tusks. Moments later, a green frog-like humanoid emerges from one of the other buildings.
It holds out its hands -- one of them a poorly healed, mangled mess -- and croaks "truce, truce!"

Kereek! |
As the discussion continues, Kereek nods at Agnar. "Kereek no reject gods. Kereek not see point of gods. Does Kereek get special place in Boneyard?"
At the ruins, Kereek peers at the frog thing, and then at the frog-man. He mutters "We kill it now we no have to kill it later. Bad things always betray big heroes. Kereek learn lesson!"
Agnar Hrolfson |
"Not being a cleric of Pharasma, that's not for me to say, Kereek. I believe it depends on how your life is lived. Being out here in the wilds, where Erastil's presence is strong, I can see the point of being devoted to him. It allows me to help the group and protect us against the dangers we face."
At the ruins: "At least this one didn't attack us first..." Agnar says, mostly to himself, but he casts a sidelong glance at Kereek. He will hold up his empty hands as well, hoping the gesture will confirm that we're willing to parley.
We've got a paladin in the group now, so someone actually has a decent diplomacy score. How about we let Jon take the lead on this one?
Kereek! |
In the discussion: Kereek nods at this, having seen Agnar's powers in action. "Kereek think on gods. Maybe Kereek find god who like Kereek?"
At the ruins, Kereek tilts his head, considering Agnar's words. "Yes, frog no attack first. Maybe frog not bad? Want Kereek make nice words with frog?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Unfortunately due to the recent tatzlwyrm's betrayal, Jon has become slightly jaded in regards to wild creatures so his silver tongue suffers. He will also instinctively detect evil before offering a reply.
"We mean no harm." Jon says as he jumps off his wagon and moves to a comfortable talking distance. "We're simply surveying the land. We have no desire to make enemies of you."
Upon noticing its bandage hand. Heal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
