Draelen, you can put up the map with the latest hex unveiled. Bokken's hut is at about 4 o'clock, a little closer to the border of the hex than the center. Everyone can also get 50 xp for exploring the hex.
Shadowborn, Agnar's first entry in the game thread is coming up shortly.
Hey all, I'm heading out of town tomorrow (Thursday), back Sunday. My friends I'm visiting go to sleep about four hours before I do, though, so I should still be able to get online at night, but I'll be spottier than I am during the day. I'm hoping it won't be anything too obvious, but just figured I'd mention it.
(Considering out usual weekends, I won't be shocked if we're a little slow over Memorial Day anyway, though I just realized that I have no idea if anyone else is in the U.S.; I see Patrik at least is not.)
I'm going out of town, too. Also, my laptop's wireless card has crapped out on me (that's partly why I'm going out of town, to see if I can't fix it), so my posting will be slower until that's fixed.
Have fun visiting your friends, motteditor, and just so you know I'm in the states as well ;)
Yikes, I thought I'd only be gone for a day, but I'll actually be gone until Tuesday. A friend offered me a free ticket and ride to a music festival, an offer I can't refuse. Have fun and feel free to DMPC me when necessary :)
Question: I realized after I resolved the combat that Orin might NOT have chosen to continue with his plan to charge in after taking the vicious arrow shot. Probably should have waited to confirm that's what he'd have wanted, especially since he was at the end of the initiative order so it'd have been easy to do. How do you want me to handle things of that nature in the future? Not sure if there's a general PBP convention.
Question: We're getting close to some of our original chartered members reaching level 2. Do people want to just have everyone advance at the same time, to make it a bit more consistent, or continue to go by xp (though I'd probably give Agnar somewhat of a starting bump just because he's relatively far behind)? I'm perfectly fine either way, but might risk a bit more mortality if we have it by stricter xp.
Question 1: I've been told some PbP GMs will have their players write up a "strategy guide" of sorts, so that in the event that combat goes a particular way, the GM will have an idea of what tactics the PC would take in a given situation.
Question 2: In my opinion, its best if the party is all of equal strength. Seems to make things easier all around.
Question 1: I'm fine with you taking our stated action, or in the event that an intervening action makes the original action impossible, modifying the action (i.e. attack a different target, try to break a grapple if something grabbed the PC, etc.) A tactics guide for a PC is useful, especially if the character needs to be DMPCed for a while, but it's never going to cover every eventuality.
Question 2: I'm in favor of leveling everyone up together, it's what I usually do when I DM. But of course, I'm behind on XP, so I'm biased :)
First question: I don't know if it's the best option but i think you should go with the written action and allow a slight retcon at times when it's appropriate. Although that retcon would have to come within a reasonable amount of time, like within 12-18 hours or less.
Second question: Same advancement all the way. Character's should not be penalised for joining the game once it's started since they are after all doing us a favor filling in vacant spots :)
What pace are we using for xp? I thought it would be medium, and by that standard we're pretty far away from leveling. Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't mind at all leveling earlier, i'm just abit unsure what progression we're using to level :)
Holy smokes, I thought you got to level 2 at 1000 xp (as previously mentioned, we don't use xp in my home games, nor actually play at low levels). I guess we are indeed going at medium, so I guess you're only getting close to halfway to level 2...
What I've had DM do in the past was to use fast progression for the 1st level or 2, than switch back to medium, just to get people past the hyper sensitive first level.
That sounds like a nice idea. Although i wouldn't mind skipping xp all together and leveling up when you feel it's appropriate. It would help to get through the story to avoid the more grindy parts that's mostly there to advance the characters in level.
I think that leveling together is a good idea, but I also agree that leaving leveling up to the GM is often a good idea. I certainly don't mind experience, as it's a good judge of telling when to level, but if we want to skip that part of the game completely I'd support it :P
I'm also pretty bad at keeping track of practically anything on these electronic character sheets... so, there's that bias as well.
Sorry for the unexplained absence, but Thursay night I suffered an appendicitis attack and was taken to the hospital. I was discharged Sunday morning and today is the first day that I've actually felt like getting out of bed.

Yikes, sorry to hear that. I hope you recover comfortably and are back soon, but don't rush yourself on something like that. It's probably worth it to take your time :P
Anges Hrolfson: "Yah, my name is Agnes. Agnar vus me brother. I am wery sad that me brother vas kilt by de angry bar. You vant I should adwenture vith you? Okiedokie, then. I vill endewour not to be kilt wery soon, like me brother."
Just practicing in case Agnar is torn asunder by the mad bear.
I know Orin may be recovering still, but we only had two posts for that last round of combat. I'm not usually looking at Paizo if I'm playing with myself on the computer. ; )
Draelen seems to have disappeared, though I'm assuming it's due to something in real life (he hasn't posted on any of his aliases and seems to have been enjoying the game) and that he'll be back soon. I'll give him another week or two before deciding what we should do.
That actually reminds me, I think everyone can advance to second level. I've decided I'm probably going to forego XP from now on and just advance you when it feels right to me.
Please let me know here all the changes you make (i.e. where you allocate skill points, spells you select, etc.).
For HP, please roll. Re-roll 1s, and 2s count as 3s. Anything else, you get what you get.
Vanulf, how're you feeling? Still with us?
Also, I'll give Draelen another week at least, since I'm hoping he'll come back, but what do people want to do if he doesn't? Would we prefer trying to stay with six players?
HP 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 +1 favored class = 10 <--- WOOOHOOO MAX HP! :P
Also gain Evasion and I'll choose the rogue talent Combat Trick (Weapon Finesse).
Skill ranks, of which I have 10, are going into: Diplomacy, Bluff, Stealth, Sense Motive, Perception, Intimidate, Swim, Knowledge (local), Escape Artist, Acrobatics
We could go down to five just fine, and if we lose anyone else, we can find 2 characters at once, making the new introductions a little easier to manage
OK guys. I'm back. Just need some time to catch up with the posts. Between that and catching up with work it might be another day or so before I start regular postings.
