Eljoy Skinner |
"Er, did anyone else hear that?" Reekis asks as he hastily rewinds his crossbow.
"Yes... that doesn't bode well."
"Bode well!? That f%$!ing sounds like s*@! eating trouble."
Eljoy Skinner |
Eljoy pursues the wolves as far as the doorway. He stops to look inside while holding his ax ready.
Move to J4. Ready action to strike any foe whoi comes within reach.
DM Mothman |
Peering around the corner, Eljoy sees a large chamber with several gaping holes in the ceiling, allowing daylight to filter in from above. One of the stone columns that once supported the ceiling is toppled, its broken pieces littering the floor. A thick patch of black mushrooms hides in a nearby corner, giving the room an earthy scent that is barely noticeable above the stench of wet fur.
The two injured wolves slink towards a corner of the room. However, as Eljoy watches, a powerfully built black-furred wolf leaps up from behind the rubble of the fallen column to perch upon a large block of stone. It raises its muzzle to the ceiling and howls loudly, before fixing Eljoy with a baleful glare.
“Why have you disturbed my rest?” growls the wolf in the common tongue. “Why have you attacked my pack? Why should I not tear you limb from limb?”
Intimidate check to demoralise Eljoy 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6. DC is 10 + Eljoy’s hit dice + Eljoy’s wisdom modifier. If the check beats the DC, Eljoy is shaken for 1 round (or additional rounds if it beats the DC by 5 or more).
DM Mothman |
Oliver Hoffman |
Oliver hobbles into the room to stand just behind Eljoy, considering the surly man may very well be the target of the talking wolf's ire. "Are we holding here in the doorway?"
Double-move to K4
Arcana (Magical Beasts) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Nature (Animals) - Untrained cap DC 10 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Planes (Outsiders) - Untrained cap DC 10 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Eljoy Skinner |
"It's a big f*@#ing mean s+$$ eater of a dog. Of course I'm planning on a fight." Although Eljoy's looking into the room, his tone conjures his most unpleasant demeanor for those behind him.
we're not holding here long. Eljoy didn't want to rush into the room all clueless, but now that he knows what's there, he's going in next turn. Of course there's plenty of people ahead of him in initiative.
Jasper Eleventoes |
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 not a sight-based check
Hearing the others conversing, Jasper looks at Anor and says, "I'm going to go see what they've found. Coming?"
Without waiting for an answer, he heads into the room. He stops beside the desk opposite the talking wolf.
That's a move and a half for one of my stature, so that's my turn..
Adalwin MacFaine |
Adalwin takes in the scene of the talking wolf, standing upon the rubble of the ruined keep, looking more like a painting than real life. As fierce as the thing looks, the boy knew that he has little choice but to attack, despite still feeling drained by the fight with the spiders. With a strange feeling of detached dread, he rushes forward, shield and bastard sword clenched tightly.
If I am to die, it will not be said I met my end meekly!
Move to 4H and attack
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
1d10 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
DM Mothman |
This triggers the worg’s readied action. As Adalwin reaches I-5, the worg leaps down into H-4 to attack him. This in turn probably triggers Reekis’ readied action to shoot (he can fire while the worg is still up on the column and not yet in combat). Once the worg’s attack is resolved, and assuming Adalwin is still standing, he can then attack the warg from I-5 with the same rolls.
The big wolf leaps down from its perch at Adalwin as he draws near, saliva dripping from its open mouth. Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
DM Mothman |
One of the other two wolves seems emboldened by the worg’s attack, and darts forward to attack Adalwin from the other side. Moves to H6 and attacks. Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
However, the attack seems somewhat half hearted, and even focused on the worg, Adalwin is easily able to avoid the lesser animal.
The other wolf retreats into the corner, whining and licking at its wounds.
Eljoy Skinner |
"YOU SUM B%#&~!" Eljoy rushes in behind Adalwin and drives his axe at the wolves head.
MOve to I4
Ax v worg, rage: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 = 13 .... damage: 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 = 12
This could be bad. That was ELjoy's last round of rage.
DM Mothman |
Jasper Eleventoes |
Jasper moves around the table to J6 and looks for an opportunity for his magic to help, flinging a bit of acid at the larger animal to see if it helps.
Acid splash touch attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 4 = 17 Not trying to adjust for soft cover, just don't have precise shot
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Didn't ready acid flask for focus, so only bloodline bonus this round
Oliver Hoffman |
Okay, J5 to I6 (I wasn't considering, as I was thinking you couldn't diagonal across a hard corner), but I'm going to change plans anyways.
Oliver turns to give Reekis an apologetic look for moving in the way of the doorway, but steps up into the space right behind Adalwin. This allows him to help either of the two men should they get injured.
Move, to J5
and once again
Standard, to ready a CLW if either of the men take serious damage
Adalwin MacFaine |
Hit but no trip or critical. Im on 5 HP with the heal.
Adalwin cries out, alarmed at the amount of his own blood he can see pooling around him. "I'm going to turn you into a coat!" He calls out, somewhat weakly given the bite he just took.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Desperate now, Adalwin swings his sword as hard as he can, hoping to finish the wolf off quickly.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 - 1 = 19
damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

You can’t intimidate to any real effect and also attack in a round as that would be two standard actions; I’m going to assume given the choice you would attack, so I’ll take that.
In his weakened state, Adalwin is not much good at trash talking but he can still swing a sword with some accuracy. Despite now bleeding from several wounds, the big wolf still looks like he has some fight left in him.
