Elaith Meirityn |

"We also decided that bringing the apple first would a better course of action. That way we don't lose or damage it during the search of the missing men."
Elaith takes the apple out of the backpack ad shows it to the mayor. "I checked it, and it is definitely magical in nature and does what you say it should."

DoubleGold |

He looks at you all, especially Three who just walked in. Nice for you to join us there Three. He says with enthusiasm. He then answers the questions and responds to the rest of you. Well, I do believe it was a good course of action, and as far as making the trip better, just find the missing people, if they are dead, nothing I can do about it, except give them a proper burial, and if they are alive, the town would be joyed to see them.

Zakan |

Zakan he purses his lips, doing his best not to frown. His subtle request for a reward had gone over the mayors head. Well at least the town will be grateful. I can probably squeeze some gold from their gratitude even if the mayor doesn't offer anything explicitly.
Having little else to say to the mayor he heads towards the door and makes it clear he is ready to head out whenever the rest of the party is.

Nileera |

Nileera had stayed quiet throughout the exchange. She wanted to return to the Citadel to save the people if she could.
"Let's see if we can save some people. I hope we can."

*Three* |

"It should be fine. I assume that you are all prepared for a dungeon expedition? You all have rope, pitons, a ranged and melee weapon (with backups), food, water, and the ability to create fire? Also, a towel and spare set of clothes, including boots?"

Nileera |

"I possess a change of clothes and a few days worth of food. As for a ranged weapon, I do have a spear, but if we come across a bow I am able, but not very skilled with one."
Nileera adjusts her scabbard for her sword and prepares herself for adventure.

DoubleGold |

Heroes proceed onward to the sunless citadel, they come to a cliff and they either have to descend down the cliff, via climb or take the pathway down and the pathway is narrow, either way it is dangerous and it is 80 feet down. I need perception checks, also if climbing down, I need athletics, and the checks is done three times, climbers kit or rope may help. If walking down the path I need acrobatics not to slip and fall off three tiems, the dc for acrobatics is much lower, though it take you much longer to get down. And because of where the platforms are, if you fail acrobatics, you only fall 10 to 20 feet depending upon when you fall.
Beyond the cliff, the path leads into the building.

Yolanda Foehammer |

Not very agile on her feet, Yolanda opts to climb down the cliff. She attaches a rope to a convenient anchor and starts her descent.
Athletics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Athletics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Athletics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

DoubleGold |

Hallway down the pathway, Yolanda hears some rats and twig blights, which are impossible to reach even with range until halfway down, as they are on the path and she is going straight down. And she makes it towards the bottom easily. Do yo wish to attack one during your descent? This assumes you have a ranged weapon, but you would only get one attack and would be at disadvantage on the attack.

Zakan |

Zakan decides to take the other path and sneak around the side down the path, rather than expose himself down the cliff side. He draws one of his daggers and prepares himself for a fight.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Yolanda Foehammer |

No, she will continue down, them try to come up behind them, if possible
Seeing the foes on the path, Yolanda calls out to the others.
"Ware on the path! Rats and some sort of twig-like creatures. Be ready to fight!"

Nileera |

Nileera will wait and see if anybody tosses down a rope as she did not have any, and then attempt the long way around. Being a dancer pays off sometimes, but fails at others.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
I probably fell on the second acrobatics check, and I'd like to see how much damage I take before I make any actions.

DoubleGold |

Zakan, you did pass three times, but you are not at the bottom, as you can't get to the bottom without killing the enemies in your way first, so when combat is over, you will pass. PS I will roll init for everyone, once everyone has taken a turn to either climb down or walk down. Zakan does not notice enemies before he gets to them, thus no surprise.
Nileera, you made the first one, but failed the second one, causing you to fall 20 feet and causing the monsters to be 10 feet above you vertically, however cause the path is a gradual circular decline, they are 25 feet from you in terms of walking movement without climbing.
dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9 Nileera falls onto a path below. She does not notice enemies before she gets to them, thus no surprise.
Everyone who has already climbed or walked down. Wait for others to make their decision to walk or climb before you do anything else, as this is all happening at the same time. This is all technically round 0

*Three* |

Three also starts making his way down the stairs.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

DoubleGold |

Was I sneaky enough to have them not see me before combat? I get I don't get a surprise round but am I unseen during the first round of combat?
Stealth is not needed. It is like ten times easier seeing something traveling down this path than it is traveling up cause of the angles and everything, not to mention their low height blocks their vision, they don't notice you anyhow. You failed your perception to notice them before you, so would notice each other at the same time. A good perception check means you spotted them from higher up and didn't have to get closer to know exactly where they were at.
Three and Elaith, makes it all the way down without any problem, well actually hallway, but the third checks are passes and you will make it down safely after combat. Three notices them from 50 feet away before he travels further. Surprise round for three.

DoubleGold |

init: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (16) = 19 Three
init: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (11) = 13 Elaith
init: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (19) = 22 Zakan
init: 0 + 1d20 ⇒ 0 + (11) = 11 Yolanda
init: 0 + 1d20 ⇒ 0 + (12) = 12 Nileera
init: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (12) = 13 Twig Blights
init: 0 + 1d20 ⇒ 0 + (6) = 6 Rats
Still waiting on Three surprise round, but the rest of you who beat the enemy init may act. Only one of you can be in melee at one time since it is a narrow path. Nileera can be in melee at the same time the rest of you are since she has to travel up to reach the enemy, ie. the fall, and the rest of you have to travel down to reach the enemy. No acrobatics checks are needed during combat.

*Three* |

Surprise Round:
Three will draw his shortsword then move into melee with a couple of the creatures.
Sword Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Bonus Unarmed Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Regular Round:
Three will continue carving into enemies, moving as necessary.
Sword Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Bonus Unarmed Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

DoubleGold |

Three misses twice, but hits twice and kills two twig blights as he travels down the winding path, jumping down a row of 5 feet if he has to and gets to them. Elaith misses after moving forward a little to get a clearer shot.
Zakan is up Three killed the enemies directly in front of him, that makes him not in melee. There are 2 twig blights and 3 giant rats left.

DoubleGold |

And that is all the twig blights as Zakan shortcut jumps down 5 feet shortcutting the path and moves forward hacking and slashing at the twig blights, only the giant rats are left. Yolanda and Nileera are up. Yes melee is possible, actually you can both be in melee, cause Nileera is traveling uphill from a fall and Yolanda is traveling downhill cause she didn't fall.

Nileera |

Nileera stands up from the fall, dusts herself off, pulls out a glass vial filled with a red liquid in it and downs it before marching towards the back of the enemies.
Potion of Healing: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 = 7
I would have been at 2, I would rather not be a front liner at 2hp.

DoubleGold |

Yolanda misses as she hits the ground in front of the rat.
The first rat tries to bite Yolanda hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (4) = 8
The second at Nileera hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (16) = 20 it bites her for dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The one in the middle, will climb straight up the rock, walk up the path and then drop down behind one of our weaker targets, Elaith. they are at disadvantage on athletics, and if they manage to do it, they will get an attack.
athletics: -2 + 1d20 ⇒ -2 + (8) = 6 athletics: -2 + 1d20 ⇒ -2 + (20) = 18
It falls to a platform below trying taking dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 2 falling damage.
Heroes are up

*Three* |

Three makes no noise and he quickly and efficiently moves from body to body.
Attack Roll with Shortsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage Roll: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Bonus Action Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage Roll: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Nileera |

Longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Longsword Damage : 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Disadvantage if in the sun: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Despite the sun getting in her way, Nileera brings her sword down on the rat that bit her.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Zakan |

Zakan slides passed Three and the other rat making a couple slashs from behind.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 2 = 19 flanking
Damage 1: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 = 8 flanking
Damage 2: 1d6 ⇒ 3

DoubleGold |

Yoland kills the rat. Zakan, that acrobatics is high enough to go down 2 levels of the spiral to get to the rat. Zakan just runs out of movement stopping 10 feet in front of the rat, but he readies his action and kills the rat on the first strike
Heroes make is down into the citadel. It is dark in here with no enemies as the people with darkvision can clearly see that and a door at the north end. They feel like they are safe enough to rest in here if needed. Map will be up soon, just have to know if light is being used or not and what people are doing.

Nileera |

A quick bandage to stop the bleeding, Nileera steadies her breathing as she leaves the light of the sun.
"Little buggers bit me a lot harder after I fell. The fall hurt, but getting bitten hurt my pride. Is everybody alright?"

Zakan |

Zakan pulls out a handkerchief and begins to wipe any blood or grime off of his swords and carefully returns them to his scabbard. "They didn't last long enough to get a shot in on us. Are you holding up alright?" He smiles broadly with his question and beings to make his way down to the bottom of the cliffside.

Yolanda Foehammer |

Yolanda gives a sigh and moves over to look at the wounded Drow.
"Lets see if the Maiden of Battle will grant me the power to heal your wounds...don't blame me if she withholds her power from you"
Yolanda calls upon her goddess to heal the wounds on the Drow warrior, and is quite surprised when it actually works.
"Well I'll be....hrump, well there ya go. She musta been feeling generous or sumthin'"
Cure Wounds: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Nileera |

Feeling her wounds healed, the drow smiles towards the dwarf.
"Thank you Yolanda, your deity appears to favor my well being with her servant. Elaith is correct, those of us not born with innate vision in the dark will need light. Here, allow me. These snuff out faster than a torch if we need the darkness."
Nileera will keep a dancing lights active for light. It's colored cool white, almost like moonlight.

DoubleGold |

After activating a little light and healing Nileera, all heroes can see the place has a lot of debris. The light alerts a group of rats out from under the debris.
init: 0 + 1d20 ⇒ 0 + (2) = 2 Nileera
init: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (5) = 8 Three
init: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (16) = 18 Elaith
init: 0 + 1d20 ⇒ 0 + (10) = 10 Yolanda
init: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (10) = 13 Zakan
rat swarm: 0 + 1d20 ⇒ 0 + (12) = 12 rat swarm
for every 10 feet of movement, I need an acrobatics check of 10 because of the debris.
Elaith and Zakan may act

Zakan |

Well let's get to it Zakan says crouching and preparing himself, drawing both shortswords from his sheaths and crossing them in front of him.
Move action to draw weapons
Standard to ready a double attack on any rats that come within ten feet of me and five foot step to them.
