Leonard Giles Neithan |
I always thought the saying was the sharpest bulb in the knife drawer, but I guess I'm wrong.
Also, I would'n't've attacked it, but Vincent was already moving. We're a team, so if one of us attacks, I will back him up. In general, I think people in rpgs fight vastly more frequently than they should. That's why Leonard always asks for surrender, and, if I remember correctly, delayed on at least one occasion against only semi-threatening kuru.
I'm going to grab a femur from the kitchen and use it for defending bone next time we head down.
Vincent Arazeiros |
Lol well it viciously defends it's hunting ground, and that happened to include the zoog nestwe needed a tail from. Didn't see any other option but I can refrain from attacking random monsters in The future? :)
Leonard Giles Neithan |
I think it's fine to attack fairly indiscriminately in that scenario, because death isn't death and it doesn't seem sentient. But like, I didn't see any reason to, so I probably wouldn't have.
GM Mort |
If you read the descriptive text carefully you might have realized that the quest was already a failure, upon Re entry into Dreamlands.
I was actually considering botting that you realized that quest failed, and just popped out, but decided to give player freedoms.
The zoogs were already dead, and their tree holes have been searched by a greedy guts. What makes you think there are tails to find?
GM Mort |
I'll tell you by charging indiscriminately at the man bound and gagged on the leaf then leaving him in the pit to die, there are some consequences on Golarion. Like he got back to Golarion to tell his friends on you.
But you'll see later, I'll be sure to remind you.
Vincent Arazeiros |
Lol I didn't leave him in the pit to die. I climbed out and he freed himself the same turn. He doesn't know I was charging him either. Maybe I was running to free him lol.
Leonard Giles Neithan |
Just because there's a monster and blood about doesn't mean there aren't any more zoogs. It's perfectly reasonable that there could be other zoogs about, a young one that escaped and is now wandering back, or one hiding successfully in a hole.
Also, the fellow being charged was a misunderstanding.
GM Mort |
Longspear extended, sure. And you climbed out of pit despite him pleading with you to free him through him being gagged.
To leave someone who hasn't done anything to you in a corrosive pit to die...
Be glad in English law there is no liability for omissions. Though in some places I've heard there are good samaritan laws
Again, Vincent is N so it could be considered as just RPing the character. Which is fine. There are just consequences.
Adventurers can hope. But I did describe the scene to convey the message, did I not? I even said something made forced entry into the tree holes and there's blood and zoog fur on their edges.
Leonard Giles Neithan |
Well it sure seemed like we'd failed, especially with player knowledge, but since we were already fighting the thingy, no reason not to look in the holes.
GM Mort |
If you'd realize that earlier, there would have been no need to even fight the creature. But murderhobos will be murderhobos...
Usually I don't mind, but not excessive murderhoboism.
Maybe for those Hastur cultists I should have pulled a "He will reward me with 72 virgins when I enter paradise!"
Just a Mort |
BTW if I am being religiously insensitive, please let me know. I'm a free thinker and I poke fun at a lot of things.
I poked fun at an incense of meditation saying the cleric was smoking weed.
Leonard Giles Neithan |
I don't believe in god myself, but that's just me.
Also, my first thought at reading your description of the creature was "she didn't roll initiative, we get to not fight it." I was pretty enthused until I scrolled down.
Leonard Giles Neithan |
Vincent Arazeiros |
I believe in God but I took no offense. Then again I'm not Muslim either lol.
GM Mort |
Tell me about it. I got scratched by monkeys…so Lemurs mobbing a Zookeeper is perfectly fine.
Also I had Hummus, a salad and a Chicken Sharwama for lunch. Say what you want about the middle-eastern dudes but they sure know how to do the good stuff…yeah I’m not particular about any kind of cuisine. More Eat Anything Feat.
And my colleague baked me brownies…I think I just need vanilla ice cream to go with those brownies…slurp!
Oh wait I’ve already eaten 3 pieces, without any ice cream…
GM Mort |
Sorry about my poor activity today. I've been doing filing, and have a lot of filing to do so a lot of time will be spent away from keyboard.
GM Mort |
Tempted. Again you'd know the monsters attack mods if you did that lol. But waiting for Leonard...
The reason why you, Seamus have not been getting a turn is because of the 2 rounds daze.
Dance of Death (Ex) A necrophidius can entrance opponents by swaying back and forth as a full-round action. All creatures within 30 feet who can see the necrophidius when it uses its dance of death must succeed on a Will save or be dazed for 2d4 rounds. This is a mind-affecting effect.
Cant' believe there's no 24 hour kicker clause in this one...
Vincent Arazeiros |
I would not have looked at it. Don't have to make a will save if you don't look at it. And focus is bone golem. Since we made the knowledge check and knew to not watch it.
GM Mort |
Unless you're closing your eyes...you can't don't look at it. Means you'd have to do this entire fight blind.
Advert gaze is looking at another part of the creatures body and does not apply for not looking at a necrophidus.
Vincent Arazeiros |
Avert gaze is to target the creature you are "not" looking at. Not going to target them though, just not look at them. Bone golem only. It's 10ft tall so I can just look up at it and not ground level lol.
Not complaining about initial gaze, just so you know for if it dances again, not looking at it. I'll just close my eyes until my turn or something lol.
GM Mort |
In Pathfinder you're assumed 360 facing so you can't look at one creature and not the other. Else you could get someone sneak attack you because he appeared behind you etc. The rules don't cover it.
Closing your eyes till your turn won't work since when they are dancing it's for an entire round, till their next turn.
GM Mort |
Leonard, spellcombat and haste do stack so you can 5ft in to whack the bone golem with haste attack. I won't bot it, though since I am not sure if you want to be next to the bone golem.
GM Mort |
Also since advert gaze is for gaze attacks only, you don't get to apply it for other abilities involving sight as I feel that's stretching RAW some. Things like blindfolds, closing your eyes throughout, would work.
Just so you know, blindsight will bypass mirror image being blindsight is like a radar/infra red.
"An attacker must be able to see the figments to be fooled. If you are invisible or the attacker is blind, the spell has no effect (although the normal miss chances still apply)."
So basically the attacker will close his eyes, then use blindsight to negate the penalties of hitting blind.
GM Mort |
Let me see how I ran the last set of pyrotechnics…consistency, consistency.
NPC told some bugger to move and close his eyes when at designated position, readied action to cast pyrotechnics(standard action) after he closed his eyes.
NPC remained blinded for the round.
NPC told bugger to open his eyes. Bugger took his turn as per normal.
I would say if you want to not take the sight based effects you’d have to take the blinded condition for an entire round.
GM Mort |
Seamus:
Note this part on bards:
At 7th level, a bard can start a bardic performance as a move action instead of a standard action.
So you can inspire and shoot at the same round. At 13th level, a bard can start a bardic performance as a swift action.
Isn't that awe inspiring?
Why am I teaching PCs how to murderhobo better :P
GM Mort |
As a (Lawful Neutral?) GM I have to point out every single nitty gritty(affecting gameplay) things. I used to point out non-affecting gameplay stuff as well, but realized if I started getting anal, things would never get done.
*Wonders if she is still Lawful Neutral*
Howard Phillips Lovecraft |
Already leveled up :-)
FYI, GM Mort, I just picked-up max ranks in Knowledge(Religion).
GM Mort |
Please do your stat block and tell me what items you've crafted, besides the greater hat of disguise, thus far.
Vincent Arazeiros |
Might take me a bit to level. Working while on hydrocodone is difficult at best.
GM Mort |
Oh dear. How many days of pain killers did the doc prescribe? And why are you still working instead of resting?
Vincent Arazeiros |
No rest for the wicked!
About 3 days or so? But today is the 3rd day.
Leonard Giles Neithan |
I'm leveled except for the two spells I get to add to my spellbook, not sure what I want yet.
Did anyone claim that belt of +2 con we got from the French guy earlier?
Howard Phillips Lovecraft |
No-one claimed it, but remember, it doesn't exist in the waking world; only here in the Dreamlands...
GM Mort |
Leonard - greater magic weapon at level 8 does nothing. You gain a +2 attack and damage enhancement bonus, but it does not stack with your black blades base enhancement bonus so I'd say forget it.
The black blade, by its enhancement bonus is already magical for purposes of damaging incorps.
Leonard Giles Neithan |
Okay, thought that stacked but I guess I've been misinterpreting how greater magic weapon works.
I'll have to figure out something better then.
Would Leanard have known that they would be fighting Ib shades before entering the portal? I think yes, but you didn't roll knowledge till after we did, so maybe not?
GM Mort |
You'd have to see them to know. You know the beings Of Ib are extinct thanks to the humans extermination of them. But you would have no reason to suspect they would rise as undead.
GM Mort |
This spell functions like magic weapon, except that it gives a weapon an enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls of +1 per four caster levels.
Under the table of black blade progression it is also listed as enhancement bonus.
Bonuses of same type do not stack unless stated otherwise(like dodge bonuses).
