Zorryn shakes his head of the unpleasant thoughts that rushed to his mind as some form of magic tried to influence him. Then he smirks at the strange fey man. "Who is she? I have not met her nor do I know her plans or anything about her."

"You try to scare me away but now you want my help? What happens to those that step inside the room? I have heard a rumour about it's effects."
[dice=Sense Motive in case he lies]1d20+21

For Zorryn in Conversation:

"Hey, hey, hey, I did not mean to try to scare you, not at all try, ok. Yeah you know, little miss rags, cloth girl, nosy busy body. Always trying to get others to do her work for her type. You strike me as the sort of basher to take her up on her 'offers'. Just saying is all."

The male fey relaxes back against the cavern wall and looks over at the door before proceeding.

"Yeah in there is an impediment to my operation. Some of my boys got burned in there and it is time for me to take measures to remove a threat to my family and operations. Just business you understand. So if you are looking for it, then by all means it is yours. No harm, no foul."

"Go ahead, take a look. Just a small room in there with the stone on display in the middle. Ripe for the taking."
"Go ahead"

He just has a relaxed pose there, one razor in one hand, the cane sitting next to his leg there against the wall just aside of the alcove to the left of the door as you look at it.

As you look at the door some more, it seems almost flush to the ground. It is heavy and appears very solid. No light is shining underneath it, very well constructed. In full mist form you could most likely find a way past it, or just attempt to open it.

Ckkxxchtki went east to look down that tunnel while the spider was being summoned.

He had left before hand

Clikk followed shortly afterwards, maybe 5 to 10 minutes if we look at approximate timings

Rizzen is down that way as well moving in support, while Zorryn had went to look at the SE section, where the spider had said to look at for the stone.

Besides Zorryn and Ckkxxchtki, would everyone tell me what you are doing next please?

While Ckkxxchtki and Clikk are watching the Aboleth from their respective locations, they both see it dive under and thwn swim and leap into the air (like a whale or dolphin would).

Female Hunter Evolutionary Horror 7

Clikk watches the Aboleth with great interest there had been so very few major bodies of water near or within her forest and what few there HAD been had not been large enough to maintain a creature of this magnitude, the tentacled creature was clearly a predator of some description and moved in a manner reminiscent of the above world sea creatures, things she only knew of by means of second hand knowledge, things extracted from the minds of her prey. Curious of the creature she draws closer to the river crouching in order to place a single hand within the water to see if the creature would notice her disruption of it's territory.

From what she understood many large sea creatures were at least vaguely intelligent, often not enough to actually communicate but certainly more intelligent than many of the land-dwelling beasts. What she did not know was that the creature she was trying to gain the attention of was much like herself a being foreign to this world and as well something far more intelligent than she expected.

Sanriel is under the impression that knowing where the Not-goblin is has a much better ring to it than not knowing. It means Sanriel can at the very least have a decent idea that the creature is not insutling something large and more dangerous than we need to anger.
As a player I had just wanted to keep the party mostly together, but it hardly matters I suppose.

Sanriel will continue traveling in the direction he has been, as nothing has changed his belief that traveling the direction he is happens to be a wise idea.

Rizzen will levitate to the ceiling and move himself closer to the aboleth. His tactics are normally to pounce from above. He will study his subject to make a deadly strike if needed.

I'm torn between continuing on to see what will happen and doubling back to head south to scout out the stone.

Xizor continues following Sanriel down the passageway, simply due to the fact it has already started doing so, so it makes more sense to continue on than double back.

Shadow Lodge

On second thought...

As none of his new companions are around (except for Sanriel, who has earned a small measure of trust from their previous dealings), Xizor takes the opportunity to vanish from sight and lift off the floor before speeding down the passage.

Invisibility, and 50' movement now.

If Sanriel notices and reacts to the disappearance:
"I'm going ahead," the invisible shape whispers as it goes past.

Aboleth Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31

It seems that Clikk has caught the eye of the Aboleth. It swims over to her, as it gets closer she can tell it is a good 4 to 5 times her size in length (25 some feet total length) with a huge slimy body with the two eyes and four (4) tentacles total, 2 on each side.

It gets to about 10 to 15 feet away from the riverside and pulls up and with malevolence in its crazy eyes and it sends a single thought into Clikk's mind
"Swim Fishy"

"That sounds like an accurate description. Have you had dealings with her?" Zorryn moves towards the alcove slowly and retrieves his Bag. "Unfortunately I don't trust you. So if you want this removed, we both enter the room." Then he moves towards the door and prepares to open it.

GM Note: Zorryn just knows that as soon as the other being showed up he was hit with those images and impressions. He did not lie that you could tell. He did say he did not mean to do that. Does not mean it is not a side effect from something else.

"Well certainly we can enter together. Youth before Discretion of course."
Mr Bone Drone steps back and the straight razor ends up put away. More like a flick of the wrist and it disappears. He takes up his cane and with a polite flourish waves Zorryn on to open the door.

"After you young sir." With a bow.

"And yes she and I have had our discussions. Her agenda does not necessarily conflict with mine, just not the same vision is all."

Pause

"Shall We?"

"Ok." Zorryn moves to the door and starts to push on it slowly. If nothing happens he pushes the door open further to look in.

For Zorryn opening the door:

The other character is right behind him, Zorryn can feel him right there. There is an almost palpable sense of malice or deep down core scariness to the other individual. Sure you are an undead creature created from pain and suffering. He seems the sort to like to do that sort of thing to others. Just a gut impression, nothing concrete there at all.

Here is a crude hand drawn map I had made the other day.
go To Map

So as Zorryn opens the door he can tell Mr Bone Drone is right behind him.

Inside there is a 30 some foot across (ahead of you) and about 50 foot wide (extending out to the left of you) room. There are 4 alcoves along the right hand wall, which you have entered by. If it were a rectangle you are in the Lower Right Hand Corner. Along the Right wall are 4 alcoves with faceless slender statues. They appear to be crude humanoid, most likely stone, carvings set into the alcoves.
There is a 3 step up dais with a couple of foot tall pillar along the left hand wall and on the top of the short pillar is a square block of pale stone or crystal. It emanates a very bright light equal to Full Daylight illuminating the entire room.

In each of the 4 corners of the room there is a thick crystal staff, also glowing with what feels like sunshine or perhaps pure positivity.

Your companion seems to be a bit discomforted by this amount of illumination, as well as you would be. It is like standing out in the middle of the day in no cloud cover noon high sun.

This counts as the start of Round 1 so 5 pts Damage due to the severe sunlight equivalent.

So what does Zorryn do?
Also please roll for Initiative

As the door opens Zorryn's hands reactively move to cover his eyes though it does nothing to help him and his pale unprotected skin starts to crisp quickly.

Would you rule that a fog cloud would constitute blocking the direct light exposure the same way that it stops light from getting to people (attacker can't use sight to locate the target) etc.

Yes a Fog Cloud would block it as if you were in one in the outside for the duration of the cloud. Yes most definitely

Rizzen continues to move along the wall ending up above the aboleth, studying the creature for 12 more seconds in order to find the perfect sweet spot.

The roll to hit is successful. Excellent you landed on the Aboleth instead of in the river water (which might have been bad in the long run).

So what is the actual attack going on?

its my dominate person ability... I just snatched an aboleth

the abomination's assault upon the body is successful, the aboleth is left screaming in its own mind, as the unholy creature on its back digs in deeper, tearing and burrowing, stealing the control of the body.

Ckkxxchtki is satisfied that the creature was so easily pacified, though slightly concerned about the actions of his 'allies'

For Ckkxxchtki:

Ok so essentially the Change Shape right?
So how long does the control last, same as the alter self spell 1 min/level or what
Then does the Captive get another roll, what?

Fill in the details please if you don't mind. It will go down this way, just had not gotten the impression it was so fast and immediate with a 25 foot long aquatic monster is all

As you take in the space in front of you, the gentleman behind you seems impatient to get in there.

"Whatever your plan is to get that stone, best hop to it." With a near snarl. It almost seems like he wants to push his way past into the chamber.

Male Undead Alchemist(Vivisectionist/Beastmorph) 3

"You could have told me what would happen when I opened the door!" He yelled looking at Bone Drone to see if he was somehow affected also. Zorryn quickly summoned a fog cloud in the centre of his side of the room then moved into it, temporarily relieved from the burning yet still feeling the heat through the fog, threatening to burn him up if he left the fog. "It will last for half an hour," he says looking to see if the strange Fey follows him, "Those rods might be connected to it somehow. Perhaps we should break them."

Female Hunter Evolutionary Horror 7

Her drow form now dropped Clikk hisses angrily at the Aboleth swiping at it with her tail in an effort to keep the creature at bay, strangely before she can move closer to proceed in her efforts to pay back the creature for its attempt to control her something darts down from the ceiling and impacts the creature due to the size of the aboleth it becomes quite difficult to actually tell what it was or what it was doing on the creature but that was ultimately irrelevant, if some other creature wanted to attack her prey then so be it, she would eat it too once she tore open the creature. She remains on the shore for the moment however having no interest in putting herself into the creatures domain quite yet.

Tail attack on Aboleth:: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

I would have thought that she would have told you about the stone. I thought you had a plan.

Zorryn wraps that fog cloud about them in the space there. It cuts out the glare from the stone as well as the four pillars. It is still bright in there but the brilliance is cut to where there is no damage from them anymore. It takes up about 20 feet radius in the space, obscuring the 4 alcoves in the back as well as reaching almost to the raised section where the stone sits at. About a round of time in there the stone flares even brighter and then dims down. It seems to be pulsing on a regular basis.

So what is your plan then?

No idea about the rods, go ahead and break them if you want. Says Mr Bone Drone while he stands in the fog cloud as well.

So how did you plan to take the stone?

Female Hunter Evolutionary Horror 7

Clikk continues to hiss and snarl at the Aboleth much like a cat would with someone who has just stepped on it's tail she makes no motion to enter the water still quite wary of entering the creatures domain but makes clear threatening gestures at the beast in an effort to goad it into coming closer not knowing that the beast has been taken over by the not-a-goblin.

Male Undead Alchemist(Vivisectionist/Beastmorph) 3

"It seems everyone is less than forthcoming with important details here. I will break these two and return here to heal. Then we shall see about the stone. I have a plan for that." Zorryn dashes out towards the rod near the way he came in and tries to pull it from it's stand and smash the top into the hard wall. If it is impossible to remove from it's place he attempts to break it in half before smashing the top.
Attack/Sunder/whichever appropriate: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25
Some Damage based on my strength: 1d4 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
If successfully destroyed or deactivated he does the same for the next one on this end of the room then returns to the fog cloud with Bone Drone.

Yes with that amount of force the crystal like rod does shatter reducing the overall illumination.

The second one will shatter with little effort (no roll needed).

So once he is back in the fogcloud he does determine that most of the light comes from the stone. It does seem to pulse about once a round.

In case it still matters, I rolled Initiative for Victor in the Discussion thread (result: 28).

@Ckkxx & GM - I am fairly certain than when our little 'Not-Goblin' said Con-Based will save, he meant that the DC was based on Con? (IE 10+Ckkxx Con bonus 4+*effective spell level*+*perhaps ability focus*)

"So, this critter ate the pesky little goblin? What do we do - give it a medal?" The vampire laughs and jabs in the general direction of the Aboleth. The laws of his curse would prevent him from chasing the creature underneath the surface of the water, but not from ripping it apart should it try to threaten him above.

I'm under the impression that Viktor/myself are far enough away from the aboleth that double moving would be a good use of our rounds action. unless Ckkxxchtki chooses to speak up we are likely to start messing up the paint on his sweet new ride though.

You would be right up with Clikk by this point. Essentially less than 2 rounds have gone by in this conflict. Everyone is magically (luckily) still in the same timeframe as each other.

So Xizor would be up close to where Clikk is engaging and Aboleth in conflict. Clikk is tied to the shoreline of the river though and so far it has only attacked her once with a special ability.

Sanriel and Viktor will be in the vicinity by the end of this round, you passed them.

Xizor floats out of the tunnel and up to the river, where it quickly attempts to survey the situation. One ally on the bank. Two further back in the tunnel. One still missing. One visible creature that may be a foe. It pauses briefly at the shoreline, then says to Clikk in its distinctively echoey voice, "What is happening here?"

While waiting for an answer, it starts pulling its gloves off. To anyone who can see invisible creatures, under the gloves Xizor was wearing another pair, but this one is fingerless, exposing fingers that are oddly blue and topped by short but nasty-looking claws.

"*Ugh* What an ugly fish..." the vampire sighs.

While the aboleth certainly was exceptionally unpleasant to the eye, underestimating the creature would be hazardous. Especially considering it was hiding in the pool of water. Picking a spot well out of reach from the shoreline, the vampire leans his polearm against the wall and pulls out his bow.
