I don't think Lotham will get any fatigue... he gets 20 on every Swim check. I suppose the rest of the party might get fatigued some.

Yeah, Lotham looks good- Nathan and Mlinzi are at +4 and +5 though, so there's a pretty good chance they'll both fail at least one of the three DC 20 checks on the way out. Worst case is 3d6 nonlethal though, and a Channel cures 2d6, so maybe one won't do it, but we should be relatively safe.


I think if the water is calm, you can take 10 on a swim check so at least they don't have to worry about potential drowning or no progress rolls.

Ooh, I only just discovered the rules for upgrading our signature items. This might be a good time to upgrade my item. Now, what can you get for 6000 gp, and how long would it take to upgrade it...?

Looks like I'm stuck with good ol' +1 for now, which does pretty much nothing for me mechanically, as the item's already Masterwork. Best to wait till Level 5, I suppose.

You could always pay extra for something off-slot. But Lotham's right, being magic is useful. And +1 damage is anyways welcome, even if it's not flashy.

Oh, I'd forgotten about the damage boost. That definitely makes it worth the time and effort right now. Gonna save up my FPP points for making this longhammer a monk weapon, though!

CT, how do we feel about Aid Another for Swim checks? If I wasn't aquatic I wouldn't even ask, but seeing as I can breath water just fine and I swim about 3 times as fast as the others and don't need to make Swim checks, I figure it's worth a shot.


You can aid another with swimming in your case I think; swimming along keeping them from sinking etc. RAW doesn't prohibit it, and even if it did, I think there are extenuating circumstances for it here.

Hmmm... I'm trying to decide whether it's worth it to cast Enlarge Person right now or not. The extra strength might help if we want to move the obelisk, but other than that, it won't help much unless we get into combat.

For the record, I am a huge fan of Lotham's desire to play old school Donkey Kong, though I'm concerned Mlinzi might take just a little bit of offense.

hrm, so Lotham's regular STR is 22, which works out to a max carrying cap of 520, except he's large so it's doubled to 1040.
Ant Haul triples that, so 3120 lb.

With Bull's Strength (or Rage) and Ant Haul, so STR 26, that's 920*2*3=5520, which let's him drag or push it, excluding any penalties for friction, etc. Buuuut, to get new spells, we would have to camp out on the bridge overnight. That still leaves us with the problem of what to do with it once we've can sort of move it, since we're STILL in the middle of a lake, and at the bottom.

We're gonna need a bigger boat (or to give up and come back later.)

I think Bull's Strength and Rage stack. That's where my comment about 30 STR came from.

Ant Haul is a good idea. With that I might be able to swim straight up to the bridge while carrying the obelisk.

If you can hit 30, you're at 1600*2*3=9600 max load. So you could straight up just lift it off the ground and walk around with it, even outside the water.

I guess even w/o Ant Haul, you're at 3200 max heavy load, so you could push it around, maybe even up your ramps.

a) That is INSANE.
b) If your swim speed is coming from a magical wave carrying you, you might be able to argue the wave could carry you back to shore. The problem ends up being you can't maintain 30 STR for very long, so we can get it up to the surface maybe, but then what?

On the plus side, we'd have more time to examine it.
On the negative side, then what?

Yeah, you can lift double your max load off the ground in regular conditions, and push/drag 5x. So I guess right now you're at STR 26 with the Bull's Strength, which pretty much covers the whole underwater trip, since both it and air bubble are 4 mins.

26 gets you to 1840 max load, aka lift 3680, push/drag 9200
30 gets you to 3200 max load, aka lift 6400, push/drag 16000.

As for the scepter, we were planning on keeping it out of Cliffort, but we may not have a choice. Hopefully it needs to be possessed for someone to activate it. I say we just bring it in, or at least, hide it once we get a bit closer to the fort.
