Ok get your new spots pinpointed on the map. Note your spells and new stats in a block so its easy for me to know your new AC and bonuses for things I need to reference. Is the plan to have Grobly lure them in somehow?

Grobly will cast his spells and then hop on top of Bazzr flying high into the air. He will let out a loud war cry and circle the area letting out a Slurry of cheers and insults in goblin. "The cat bird is dead. Grobly will eat good tonight!". Grobly will continue to circle until it is clear the approaching party's attention has been gained.

Grobly casts his spells and goes flying in the air and easily sees the oncoming humanoids. He flies fast 320' towards them (taking 2 rounds) and about as high up as well. They group is about 840' away and at a easy jog. The giant pulls out a huge boulder from a satchel as he is running. Grobly has Bazzt bank and return, luring them in at a slower pace and staying far away from the giant's range. They are closing quickly and will be to the copse of trees in 30-35 seconds Grobly estimates. Grobly lets them come closer as he descends back into the cover of the trees swiftly (2 more rounds). It takes another 30 seconds before the horde arrives (and appears on the map). Total time spent by Grobly after he cast his spells is 9 rounds. The group can see and be warned by Grobly to cast their shorter spells as he notifies them of the approach.

Will add enemies to map later, coming from northeast. Take your final positions.

I have placed the combatants.

The fire giant strides into the small lightly wooded area. Near him appears to some sort of caster, looking Orcish. Surrounding him and skulking through some of the brush are a lot of bugbears. Some of you are perceptive enough to spot them, but many are quite hidden. Tayanella's snakes on her head writhe about and many of them continually pinpoint hidden foes time and again with her keen perception. Karkoran under his camouflage netting has a hard time seeing much of the sneaking goblinoids, but can see the giant and few of the more in plain few ones.

Asheranthi initiative: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Tayanella Initiative: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

Vunishu initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3

added some color to some of the tokens to make them easier to see.

Fire giant initiative: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
orc initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
bugbears initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

You all pretty much go before the monsters, so post your Round 1 actions.

Tayanella Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Lump Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17

Raptors Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Raptors Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Vunishu Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Fire giant perception: 1d20 + 14 - 11 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 14 - 11 - 2 = 21
bugbears (all) perception: 1d20 + 8 - 12 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 - 12 - 2 = 4
orc perception: 1d20 + 8 - 12 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 12 - 2 = -5

No surprise round. It is somewhat of a nightmare to compare all stealths with all perceptions. A few of you are hidden well enough to take advantage of it, but the giant has spotted some of you hidden in the brush, even with the distance and brush factored in. Tayanella and Asheranthi are hidden from him, and most of you are unseen by the orc and bugbears, but as you go first, they would be flat footed in any event, and given the distance to cover, it may not come into play. We will use the rolls if they are needed to factor in.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

Your group spends the round waiting or taking last minute preparations.

The orc steps to the giant and casts a spell on him. He grows even larger and more powerful.

The giant steps forward towards the group menacingly, well aware of some of you hiding in the underbrush. He strides up to Grobly who is hunkered behind his rock, drawing his massive sword with one hand while another pulls a boulder out from his satchel, the boulder covered in flames. He bellows something in what must pass for modern giant. "Brugh hagar, noch Kloheedis!"

The bugbears fall in behind him fanning out and moving toward the people hiding in the underbrush.

On Round 1 I would have grabbed the scrolls and read one for bulls strength.

Round 2--

Karkoran stands up and removes his camouflage netting. (swift+move)
He barely looks like a minotaur, his appearance much more bestial, large bony plates cover his body in places, and his snout is broader, more savage. His tumor moves about on his body, a large hump writhing under his skin and jutting from his sides and shoulders, two extra pairs of arms, each wielding a wicked aklys club with serrated hooks.

He reads another scroll (cats grace) and 5' steps from the brush. "I can kill bugbears or we need their caster dead."

Round 2

Initiative:

Karkoran: 29
Asheranthi:25
Lump: 24
Grobly: 22
Tayanella: 18
Velociraptors: 17
Orc: 12
Bazzt: 11
Fire Giant: 6
Bugbears: 4
Vunishu: 3

Karkoran steps from his camouflage and Asheranthi approaches the giant.

Lump strums a slow tune, plucking inspirationally, the tones ringing clearly above the swishing of feet on the ground through the grass, the growling and battle cries, and the clank of metal weaponry and armor, the creak of leather, the booming voice of the giant.

Grobly froths at the mouth and goes berserk, launching himself at the bugbear. The normally small Grobly stands at 6' tall now and is a missile of teeth as he slams into the bugbear, savagely biting deep, his teeth sinking through armor and flesh and bone, holding fast. He latches onto the bugbear, grappling, a tangle of limbs. The bugbear's scream turns into a gurgle as the grievous wound spurts blood all over the grass, Grobly and the bugbear. Successfully grappled.

Tayanella has a clear shot at bugbear #12. She fires three arrows with amazing speed, the first passing clear through its leg as it howls in pain. The second one misses by a bit, but the third one goes right through the bugbear's eye, snapping his head back and dropping him dead on the spot. Cold.

Asheranthi's raptors catch up to her as she signals them from the brush.

Bazzt remains concealed in the trees.

The orc, far in the back begins to concentrate on a spell completing it successfully, before moving closer.

The fire giant moves to close with Asheranthi, charging her.

Fire Giant Huge Greatsword, enlarged, charge vs AC 37: 1d20 + 21 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 21 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 40 - hit

Damage vs Asheranthi: 4d6 + 16 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 3) + 16 = 35

The giant strikes a telling blow vs the scaly girl, bringing his huge sword down on her hard, opening a gash down her side.

Bugbears move to encircle Grobly (#10, 14, 18 and 20 can move and attack, #2 had to double move to get into position)

Bugbear #10 morning star vs grappling Grobly AC 19: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 - miss

Bugbear #18 Morning star damage to Grobly: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

The bugbear Grobly is grappling, frantically tries to smash him with his morning star as his fellows surround the goblin.

Grappled bugbear #13 vs grappled Grobly AC 19: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 2 = 11 - miss

Some other bugbears circle around or begin moving toward the group in the bushes.

Three bugbears charge Karkoran (#4, 6 and 7 charge). Others move in close to also attack him or the others in the bush where Lump's music comes from. It seems like #8, 9 and 16 are in AoO range and possible #11 and 15 too. Take your AoOs, I'm not going to figure out all your bonuses with your 47 buffs.

Bugbear #4 charge vs Karkoran AC 31: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 2 = 9 - miss
Bugbear #6 charge vs Karkoran AC 31: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11 - miss

Asheranthi your crab thingy can go yet, Everyone else take your Round 3 actions. Don't forget Lump's Song! Grobly and Tayanella I added it to your damage since you went after Lump.

Grobly will maintain his hold on the Bugbear, biting harder every time a blow hits him.

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (3, 2) + 12 = 17

If the bugbear falls, Grobly will release his hold and glare hungrily at the enemy's surrounding him.

Previous round: She will call Vunisu to her, telling him to avoid any bugbears.

Ashe hisses in pain as the sword gashes open her side. She grits her teeth and reaches out with unnaturally long arms, grabbing the giant.

If the grapple is successful Ashe pulls him next to her square and if I understand Kraken style he takes 8 points of bludgeon damage. I can't use grab on him from hair or claws due to his size.

Ashe then spends a hero point for another standard action to pin the giant.

Maintain Grapple Maneuver: 1d20 + 25 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 25 + 2 = 45

Kraken style gives +2 to maintain grapple.

If successful, he takes 8 more points of bludgeon damage, and I opt to pin him.

If that hits, he must make a DC 19 Fortitude save or be stunned for 1 round.

Karkoran intercepts the incoming charging bugbears with his massive reach, whapping them each aside the head dropping them like sacks of potatoes as they come charging in.

Your three attacks are able to drop all three bugbears to the ground unconscious with your nonlethal strikes. Not worrying about demoralize since they are unconscious. I am using blue skulls for nonlethal unconscious opponents. Some of your nonlethal damage is also lethal as any extra that spills over is lethal.

Round 3

Grobly: 22
Tayanella: 18
Velociraptors: 17
Orc: 12
Bazzt: 11
Fire Giant: 6
Bugbears: 4
Vunishu: 3

Karkoran steps forward and begins a furious assault, his clubs whistling through the air as he strikes one bugbear after another, dropping them. Attacks 1 through 6 are all hits. Your first blow drops bugbear #8, your second blow hits bugbear #9 which sends him reeling but not enough to drop him, your third blow drops him like a rock and the hammering though nonlethal in intent was enough to rupture something inside and he is bleeding out. Your fourth blow drops bugbear #16 and your fifth blow drops bugbear #11. Your final blow drops bugbear #15. You start slashing with horns, teeth and hooves. You gore into bugbear and then bite him savagely before he goes down, bleeding all over. Your final hoofblow strikes out at bugbear #5 crushing his leg, but he manages to survive the blow.

With the bugbears clear, you do your leap thing, and land next to the other group of bugbears surrounding Grobly. Bugbear #17 will take a swing at you as you come in for a landing (hard to tell but he probably would get an AoO).

He also manages to avoid the sickening disease covering you, but he is unable to avoid the vines covering you and he seems to become entangled in them in addition to be ing pinned. not much happens since he is already pinned, but it looks like he would take an additional dex penalty on top of it which will hurt his CMD, and the attack penalty will hurt his CMB.

Severe doubt begins to creep into their minds for sure..

Grobly locks on, biting harder this time, as his teeth sink deeper into the bugbear. More bone crunches and blood spurts as his fangs penetrate a major artory, and the bugbear collapses, blood spilling everywhere, dead before he hits the ground.

Tayanella unleashes another deadly flurry of arrows, the first one sinks into the nearest bugbear almost upon Lump. He is hits the bugbear in the abdomen, as he howls in pain and clutches the hole where the arrow passed straight through him. The second arrow hits him in the chest and he drops, bleeding out. She takes aim with a third arrow, but it just missed the bugbear, glancing off of its armor.

Asheranthi, not sure what your raptors did, if anything.

Grobly will bite at the next Bugbear next to him, his mouth frothing with red bubbles and his eyes small dots of hunger.

1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22 attack
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (1, 2) + 12 = 15 damage
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 grapple

Round 4

Initiative:

Karkoran: 29
Asheranthi:25
Lump: 24
Grobly: 22
Tayanella: 18
Velociraptors: 17
Orc: 12
Bazzt: 11
Fire Giant: 6
Bugbears: 4
Vunishu: 3

Karkoran lays into the bugbears around Grobly. His first four attacks, some of them flanking attacks take down the bugbears in a blur of whirling arms. His fifth attack doesn't quite take his foe down, but the followup sixth attack drops him and he actually starts bleeding out. You hear the thwap, thwap, thwap of his clubs as he slams his victims repeatedly.

With horns, and a bit the final bugbear drops, you could stomp him with a hoof still, which would kill him probably, as he is unconscious bleeding from severe internal injuries.

Asheranthi's raptors menace and help her take hold the giant as she ties it up. I think that is the first I have ever seen that happen or even attempted. If I understand the rules correctly, he cannot escape the bonds as his CMB is not high enough. He is effectively helpless, I think. I have to check if he has ways to get out.

Lump strikes the bugbear with his tongue, and it's eyes roll in its head briefly as it staggers a bit and feels the effects of the frog's maddening magical tongue as he strums his instrument and steps towards it.

Grobly, seeing all the bugbears around him dropped to the ground, turns to the bugbear to the south. He charges and leaps at him, mouth open to bite. He strikes the big goblinoid, his teeth tearing deep and blood gushing. He grabs on and holds tight, his arms and legs wrapping around the orc as he grapples him. Would have had you charge the orc, but the rock was in the way and maybe wouldn't have gotten to him.

Tayanella fires three more arrows, two of them striking the bugbear looming where Lump was. [ooc]Just missed a crit The two arrows sink into the bugbears chest and he is knocked off his feet, dropping to the ground with a gurgling shriek, bleeding out.

The raptors do manage to surround and hit the orc caster ( the two you rolled for ) and they sink their talons into him as he looks bewildered, all of his allies down aside for one who is grappled and has almost no chance of survival.

The orc turns tail and runs.

Velociraptor AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 - hit
Velociraptor AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 - miss
Velociraptor AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 - hit

Velociraptor talon to orc: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Velociraptor talon to orc: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Asheranthi, I think you also get an AoO since you can reach with long arm spell.

Asheranthi AoO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 - hit

Asheranthi claw: 1d6 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 10 + (4) = 17

That drops him unconscious Not bothering with sickening strikes or vine strike entangle etc

The fire giant struggles to escape, but cannot effectively move. Seems like if he can light rocks on fire to throw them he must have some fire power to burn the ropes, but doesn't seem technically legit, so I won't allow it.

bugbear #1 stabilize DC 10: 1d20 + 1 - 6 ⇒ (14) + 1 - 6 = 9 - fail, -1 hp
bugbear #3 stabilize DC 10: 1d20 + 1 - 8 ⇒ (1) + 1 - 8 = -6 - fail, -1 hp
bugbear #5 stabilize DC 10: 1d20 + 1 - 11 ⇒ (6) + 1 - 11 = -4 -fail, -1 hp
bugbear #9 stabilize DC 10: 1d20 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (16) + 1 - 5 = 12 - success, stable
bugbear #19 stabilize DC 10: 1d20 + 1 - 6 ⇒ (16) + 1 - 6 = 11 - success, stable
bugbear #20 stabilize DC 10: 1d20 + 1 - 7 ⇒ (1) + 1 - 7 = -5 - fail, -1 hp

The sole bugbear screams as Grobly grapples and bite him, he tries to get out of the grapple and escape.

bugbear escape: 1d20 + 5 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 1 - 1 = 20 - fail

He has an 'oh crap' look on his face.

Asheranthi, your crab comes over and can attack the unconscious orc even more if you want, but he is already down. Let me know, I will adjust his hp.

Combat is basically over. Just the one guy left, who I have no doubt Grobly will finish off next round.

Is the one Lump licked out of it? I thought it just had some negative modifiers.

Very impressive "Giant Wrangling" Asheranthi

Grobly will keep chewing. As the corpse falls lifeless in his jaws , Grobly will keep tugging at the flesh for a few long moments, accompanied by growls coming from the back of his throat. Slowly, his eyes will dilate and be will stand, surveying the carnage around him.

I think the one that Lump licked, is the one Grobly just ate, judging from the map.

Karkoran will club the giant into unconsciousness (both lethally and nonlethally). "If it were to escape its bonds, we would want it weak."

Karkoran will try to stabilize any of the bugbears bleeding out.

Heal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Heal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

I think its DC 15, so I might have only saved three.

We will strip them of all weapons, armor, and gear and equipment and lie them in a row in the clearing. We will pile all the gear in the sled. The dead we will burn. The rest we securely tie up.

"What shall we do with them? We should question them about any mission information and troop movements at least. I would rather not lead them back to the fort, and rather press on toward the temple now that we have accomplished the mission. Do we have any way to communicate over distances?"
