Ok Goatling 5 and 6 and the Battle goat all take AoO's against Aury'tss as she moves. (Goatling 4 triggered panache as you moved.)

Battle Goat gore against Aury'tss: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Aury is able to get into position and cast her healing spell on Sly, without suffering any more attacks.

Sly heroically rises up, not triggering any attacks, and attacks the Battle Goat, biting and slashing it. One of his claws brutally rips into it as well as hit vicious bite, blood oozes and the goat bleats plaintively. His thick tail Sly whips around and slams hard into Goatling 5, sending it crashing to the ground prone.

Despite all the assistance of its brethren, the huge goat is still held by Grubgullet's meaty hands.

Well, Grubgullet, it's denied its Dex bonus to CMD, and takes a -4 on top of that. It's very possible that worked. Now that you've gone...

Hseir roars in anger as the goatmen's weapons pierce his flesh, causing several small wounds. He lashes out at the enemies surrounding them, hoping to finish them off.

Aiming the weaker bite at G2, possibly killing him.

Bite:: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 = 26

Claw 1: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 = 28
Claw 1 damage: 1d8 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 1 = 13

Claw 2 damage: 1d8 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 1 = 12

Don't you get bonuses for improved grapple and inspire courage, Grub? I would have expected your bonus to be higher with that bonus +5 from starting with him grappled.

I'd just like to know whether is succeeds or not before I make my turn, it changes what my turn might be since I'd be threatened.

Shaeyl, takes the pain of his grievous injury and focuses that pain. First into anger, a glowing red heat of wrath that he focuses intently into his next swing, his entire body fades as he draws power from another realm, confusing his enemy, the goatling that had just blooded him (#1).

Sly attacks Goatling 6 with a fury. His thick tail slams into it, sending it to the ground. Out of spells and unarmed, Aury waits for a moment to arise where she can help her two standing companions.
As Hseir and Sly attack the two Goatlings near her, she uses the opportunity to rush towards the goatling that threw his javelin at Hseir, stooping low to grab a handful of sand as she scrambles over Grubgullet's unconscious form.
Hoping to surprise the goatling, she pelts her handful of sand at its eyes.

"Scalebrothers!," Sly bellows as a rallying cry. He focuses his attention on the goatman in front of him and spins, whipping his long tail at the goatman, knocking it off its feet. While the opponent is still falling to the ground, Sly uses his momentum to slash at the goatman, finally landing on it and ripping at its throat with his teeth. He looks up with a feral gleam in his eye.

Round 6

"zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

Round 5

Grubgullet didn't stabilize here, but will stabilize in Round 6, if they don't coup de grace him.

Round 6
Shaeyl lies there unconscious, but stable.

Sly unleashes his lizardly draconic fury upon Goatling 7. Goatling 6 died last round at the hands of Hseir-Shae.

His tail swings under its feet first, slamming into its legs, which buckle in an unnatural manner, you feel the bones crunch and it drops, you pounce upon it savagely attacking with claws all of which hit the prone foe. The savagery of the attacks rips the creature to pieces, it dies a messy ugly death as you drop its severed head to the ground.

Hseir-Shae chomps hard on Goatling 1, ripping flesh from its side, exposing broken and shattered ribs, and not a few of its innards. It drops trying to clutch its side and prevent itself from losing any of them. His claws tear into Goatling 9 which dodges one of them but finds the other one slashing across its back, the huge lizard leaving massive bloody gashes. The goatling squeals in pain.

The unarmed Aury'tss scoots across the battlefield, bodies lying everywhere, stepping gingerly over Grubgullets massive body, she scoops a handful of grit, pebbles and dirt from where she can on the rocky shore and flings it at Goatling 8. The actions allows it to take a stab at her.

Goatling 8 AoO vs Aury'tss AC 24: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 - miss, broke spear

The goatling misses, fumbling against the small kobold, breaking the tip of its spear lunging forward, and she flings the crud into its face, blinding it.

The three remaining goatlings appear apprehensive. The one clears his eyes of the dirt and sand, and takes a stab at Aury'tss.

Goatling 8 broken spear vs Aury'tss AC 24: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 - 2 = 18 - miss

The two goatlings near Hseir-Shae think better of the situation after seeing the savagery of him and Sly, and drop their weapons in surrender. Goatling 8 does the same, looking sheepish (goatish?) after trying to stab Aury'tss. Perhaps the three of them could have gotten lucky, but the sheer bloodshed of recent rounds has them reconsider the value of their own lives.

Combat over.

Never underestimate the coup-de-grace preventing potential of emergency pocket sand.
So they are surrendering and not fleeing, correct?

Seeing them drop their weapons, Aury quickly kicks them farther away before they can change their minds.

Counting resources used, will post fully in a bit. Not sure if we should let them go, however. Might need to interrogate them, and then maybe kill them? Hswir definitely doesn't want to deal with them. Anyways, after this fight, he's fatigued for a while. Wants to make sure he doesn't drop rage if he's going to need it again.

Grubgullet, being unconscious, has no idea of the surrender. If left alone, he will remain comatose for the better part of a week. Lucky for him, he's not alone, because he'd be really hungry after all that time.

Sly crouches over the corpse of the freshly killed goatman. Every one of his muscles is tensed as if he is about to rush the remaining creatures that attacked his family. Using the training taught to him, he regains control and discipline over his body and instincts. Finally, he forces his muscles to relax and approaches the unconscious Shaeyl and Grubgullet, using his magic on them.

Once that is done, he silently walks to the water and kneels down. As he washes the blood and gore off himself, Ghost flies down to his shoulder and nuzzles him in a comforting gesture.

Sly's hexes stabilize and slightly heal the wayang and ogre, but do not bring them to consciousness, so grievous are their wounds. He cleans himself at the water's edge as the three goatlings look on. They seem to talk among themselves in low tones and look apprehensive about the situation.

As her two conscious companions gain a handle on the situation, Aury finally lets herself calm a bit, and slowly her singing dies down. Looking around at the carnage of the battlefield, she gags and barely keeps herself from throwing up - she's never been in a battle outside of training before.

Hearing the goatlings speak with each other, she casts her prepared Comprehend Languages on herself. Lasts 10 minutes, I understand but cannot speak, all languages.

I would imagine Wyrwin would feel the transition from adrenaline and fear to calmness and relief.
You can decide whether he returns or continues on to inform Tolhemia's group of the attack (he can speak common)
It'd take him a few minutes to get to the group at full 'run'

How many unconscious and dead?
If we wanted to be merciful then Sly could use healing hex to get a couple back up (would still be pretty low health), without actually using any resources of ours, just enough so that they can drag their unconscious companions back to wherever they live. So like one conscious for every one unconscious. Taking all of their weapons away first, of course.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Keep in mind he can only 'run' (fly) at an increased rate a number of rounds equal to his con, then has to drop back down to sloewr flying. He can cover the distance fairly fast though, probably a few minutes.

Here are snippets of conversation that you get as they talk softly to each other. They are unaware you can understand them, or don't care.

"How will we face our brothers and sisters having failed in battle? These ancient spirits sent to test us were very strong!"

"Are we sure these are spirits?"

"They come with only weapons, no armor or tools, they must be spirits from the sky. We saw the location they arrived from and there are only tracks leading away, which means they came from the sky."

"They came straight for the lake, they are a test of the Anual Ceremony."

"But they bleed and can be defeated in battle."

"That is the magic of our ancestors, they test us as part of the Lake Ceremony, so said the shamans before we attacked, remember?"

"Is is true. What do you think the spirits will do to us?"

"They will consume our souls, perhaps eat our flesh, and destroy us, erasing us from memory."

"Maybe they will show mercy upon us, surely they would have devoured us already."

"Why does the little scaly one look at us so strangely?"

"That spirit will feed you to the others, it is the most dangerous. The small shadowy one will take your soul, and the other three will rip you apart and devour you. Perhaps in the Afterhunt you can meet our ancestors and ask why."

Grubgullet finally stirs, just barely conscious enough to cast a spell on himself.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

"So much hurt..."

Aury continues listening to the goatlings talk before turning to her companions.
"It seems this lake is some sort of special location for a ceremony, and because we appeared without any tracks and came right here, they think we are spirits sent by their ancestors to test them in battle."

"Maybe we can communicate with them. Does anyone know and languages that sound similar? Maybe theirs is derivative."

Aury pauses for a moment to think, before exclaiming, "Oh!" She hurries to one of the broken spears nearby, and finds a clear patch of dirt.
First ensuring that the goatlings are watching, she begins drawing a picture in the sand.
Sand drawing
As she draws the first part, she trys to make happy, cheerful sounds, but then changes them to sad, fearful sounds as she draws fire.
Next to that, she draws another (third section). Once it is done, she points towards the little group on the sand and uses prestidigitation to make an obvious form of magic (little colored sparkles or something), and points back and forth from the magic to the drawing.

Perform (Charades): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 If needed, hahaha. If Bluff is more relevant, my modifier would be +9, for total of 21

Hope we're all good at charades, lol. Trying to imply "our home was destroyed, magic put us here"

Also, clarification question. To what extent does Comprehend languages mean I cannot speak the language? Could I attempt to just parrot a phrase that one of them said? AKA, could I repeat "Are we sure these are spirits" that one of them said, because I understood the meaning and it was all he/she said?

We only defended ourselves. Taking a life like that, is it still wrong? And even if it isn't, I lost myself in the savagery. What would Goodwin think of me? Sly scrubs his scales hard. After washing and taking a moment to collect himself, he comes back to the group and cycles among the bodies, using his healing hex on those that are not dead, making sure through pantomime that they understand that the goatmen have surrendered.

Breaking his silence, he directs a question to Aury. "Where is their settlement, if they have one?"

Looks like 2,3,4, and Big G were only unconscious. Is that correct?

Aury'tss your charades seem to convey some idea, to them. They still think you are spirits from the sky, sent to test them. Your pictures seem to convince them about your camp and location at the lake.

In terms of comprehend languages, it doesn't help you pinpoint what translates into what. But you could get a basic idea. If you made an Int check or Linguistics roll, it may help. You could parrot things back perhaps.

Aury is too distracted with the goatling's conversation to get any specific phrases out of it.

Shaeyl has been watching and trying to learn. He begins to parrot words back attempting to take basic concepts and through trial and error form some sentences. Comprehend languages only lasts ten minutes, so you work fast to try and get a basic system down of repeating words and concepts. The goatlings understand what you are trying to do, and attempt to work with you. By the time the spell runs out you aren't necessarily able to communicate with them, but you have learned probably 30 words for common objects around the area you are in. You start working on piecing them into a way to make meaningful communication.

The group recovers their health and takes some time to learn the very basic rudiments of communication with the goatlings. Very common objects or in some cases actions could be the topic of slow communication. Abstract concepts would be much harder to communicate. Let me know your next course of action.
