Game Master lordzack

Monster Hill is a sandbox, megadungeon-based campaign using the Pathfinder rules set. It is set up so that many groups of adventurers can plumb it’s depths and the changes they make will carry over to when other groups play.

Hey I'm wondering if there would be anyone interested in playing at least a few delves into my megadungeon, Monster Hill?

Ability scores are generated by the standard method.

Quick clarification, while the Obsidian Portal site says that I am running sessions face-to-face, this is for a play-by-post game. Of course if you happen to live around Auburn or Syracuse, NY...

1. How many players are you looking for?
2. What level would we start at?
3. What races are allowed? Would they use the PFRPG stats or the stats you have listed on your wiki?
4. By "standard method" for ability generation do you mean 4d6?
5. Are the class archetypes you have linked permissible in play?

1. As many as I can get, though seven actually playing at a time is pretty much the limit
2. 1st
3. What races are available is negotiable, but any races that have racial traits on the wiki use those instead
4. Yes
5. Yes

Sounds legit, I'm in. Are you going first come first serve, or are you holding tryouts?

Dotting for interest. Let's see the ability scores:

4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 3) = 8 = 7
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 4) = 18 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 3) = 12 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 1) = 18 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 6) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 6) = 14 = 12

Not too bad of a stat array.

I am also interested, do you want us to just post what we got for ability scores or do you use a site like invisible castle?

Or, I'm new here and here are my results

4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 5) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 1) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 1) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 5) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 5) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 3) = 14

I may play a druid or something similar

I'll toss a hat at this rack.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 5) = 14-1=13

4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 6) = 19=3=16

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 5) = 18-2=16

4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 3) = 15-3=12

4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 6) = 17-1=16

4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 2) = 10-1=9

Will see what I want to tryout in a bit, probably something martial.

Sounds fun to me.
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 6) - 2 = 144d6 - 4 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 5) - 4 = 144d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 6) - 1 = 174d6 - 3 ⇒ (6, 3, 3, 6) - 3 = 154d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 3) - 1 = 104d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 3) - 2 = 8
I'm happy with those. I'm not quite sure what I'd do yet. Working on that

Cheliax

I'd be game for it. Let's see what the dice have in store for me.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 1) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 3) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 1) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 5) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 2) = 16

I usually play arcane types.

I'm very much interested. What a great list of archetypes! There's some lovely ones in there.

I'll go through that list to see what I can come up with (Dragon Rider!!! ok maybe not a very good idea in a megadungeon... but still)

4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 6) = 21
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 4) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 5) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 1) = 6
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 2) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 1) = 14

If we have to subtract the lowest, I'm looking at a 10 point buy without a bottom limit.

17
11
13
5
9
13

That array alone might make for a fun barbarian. I will have to see what kind of fun I can do with a flawed character like that.

I'm intrigued A question though would catfolk be acceptable as a race?

Dice rolls

4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 5) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 4) = 18 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 4) = 17 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 5) = 19 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 1) = 18 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 1) = 9 = 8

Thinking Monk (if catfolk)

Then

14-2=12

17-2=15
14-1=13

4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 4) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 2) = 9

So in order from high-low, 17,12,9,8,7,6.

Uhhhhh..... 2 point buy? :/

Just to ask, how are the die rolls being generated and post? Just copy paste?

4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 3) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 3) = 10 = 9

Hmm, is that 12 point buy? Not sure what a 6 is, but I believe -6 based on table?

Qadira

It would indeed be a -6.

Ok here goes nothing:

4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 5) = 22
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 1) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 4) = 21
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 4) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 6) = 21
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 1) = 15

Ok because I can't get it to format correctly:

22-5= 17
16-1= 15
21-4= 17
11-1= 10
21-4= 17
15-1= 14

Although this doesnt seem right.

Qadira

No, that's completely correct. You rolled pretty well. 51 pt buy.

4d6-1=9

Will see what I want to tryout in a bit, probably something martial.

Alright, got a gnome cavalier w/wolf mount I can work up easily enough. When not working a mount it will work as a companion. I can get a backstory and full character sheet when or if you get to that point.

Cheliax

i'm interested,
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 1) = 14=13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 6) = 14=13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2, 6) = 16=14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 5) = 19=16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 4) = 16=14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 3) = 10=9
not bad, i'll come up with an idea and be back

Edit: Idea! A wood elf master of the hunt ranger.

Huh, never saw the dice tag before... here goes nothing!

4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 3) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 6) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 4) = 12 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 4) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 6) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 4) = 12 = 11

I am apparently using a 11 point buy :/ I can't see much for pleasantness with what I like to play lol

Qadira

@DM, is there any chance I could get a reroll, or am I stuck with that?

Ok, well if thats right, im ok with it. And thus far I am planning a Halfling Druid :)

Cheliax

Oops, forgot to subtract the lowest.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 1) = 9 = 8
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 3) = 14 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 1) = 16 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 5) = 16 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 2) = 16 = 14

Pretty poor stats there. -_-

Qadira

You're telling me.

I think a Half-Orc Cave Druid archetype is what I will go with if that is okay. I can't wait to see how the ooze shifting is going to be like!

Dotting and

4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 5) = 15 =12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 3) = 8 =7
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 2) = 12 =10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 1) = 11 =10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 5) = 17 =14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 1) = 16 =15

edit: I have no idea what I might try.

Conman wrote:

Well, if you go to the Obsidian Portal wiki I linked to in the OP, you'll see that instead of half-orcs, I have goblins. These goblins are medium-sized as I have decided to consolidate hobgoblins and orcs under the name goblins, and give the smaller variety the somewhat more methodologically accurate name of hobgoblins.

@ Kevin Mack: I haven't really thought much of whether or not to include Catfolk. The answer is yes, but I have to figure out exactly how they fit into the setting (should be easy since I have deliberately held off detailing much of my setting, pretty much for exactly this reason. They may be native to the campaign world, or not. They could be from some other world or plane.

You may reroll if you have no ability higher than 13, or if the total of you're modifiers are 0 or less. So in you're case, yes.

Cheliax

should i just post a build here?

Qadira

Okay, sweet.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 2) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 1) = 15

Will come up with an idea.

Well, people here usually use aliases for they're characters. If you go to "My Account" you should see an option to create an alias.

Are we doing average gold?
What about traits?
Also, I'm not sure if it's just user error or whatnot, but I can't access some of the info on the wiki, such as on humans or half-elves

No, you must roll for gold.

If something on the wiki has a red link, it means I haven't written that page yet.

I have a question. Would you mind if I created a Bladebound Staff Magus, and made a staff the black blade? I don't mind if I can only have one side enchanted, I don't plan on TWFing as a magus.

I was also wondering if I could worship an ideal rather then one of the religions you set forth. I don't really mind that much though.

Also I kind of jumped on the Cave Druid thing with out really looking at the stuff you put up on the wiki. Are the archetypes there in addition to what is in the AP-UM-UC or instead of?

Sorry for the assumption.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 5) = 22 -5 = 17
