@Shai: If you do want, I'll take a look at them(would have anyway until wednesday), but I can already tell you that I have plenty bards to pick from, so purely based on wanting to have more "choice" with the martials, I'd suggest you go with Majash over Elegia. I have not taken a close look on them yet, but at first glance I saw the Abyssal Bloodline: I know there's a few build shenanigans utilizing the size increase provided...I would not recommend basing your build on that.(If it feels "gamey" and abusive, chances are low to get picked - I already had a short pm talk about that with someone else, so it's only fair to let you know, too)

Then it's settled, I'll submit Majash as the official, and I'll convert him based on the rules you set aside later tonight. As for the size increase, it's not going to be based on that. It'll make more sense what theme the character is going with whenever you have some free time to read the bio. In fact, I can safely say he's going to try to avoid the rage power as much as he can at all times. It only manifests with specific triggers (percentage dice rolls based on environment/interactions). I'll go into that more if he's selected.

Also, reposting under that alias from here on out.

Alright, I have Silvio's alias up now. I still intend on a narrative background and a few other tidbits, but at least you can see everything together.

I think the spreadsheet points out Silvio's strengths rather well. With his growing ability to craft alchemical items, he should be able to enable the team with the right thing at the right time (in a few levels and some crafting time).

I could see Silvio and Nissim having a very interesting relationship with similar (apothecary/alchemist businessmen) family backgrounds. The Slates business could be an up and coming rival to Nissim's family's business.

If it's not too late, I've got a character I'm putting the finishing touches on. A Skinwalker (Witchwolf) Shapeshifter Ranger with some Gestalt Sorceror (thinking Draconic bloodline and taking Dragon Disciple later) Should be able to submit the final tomorrow. Mostly working out the background still, but between skinwalker's claws and the innate bookless, componentless (sometimes) casting, I feel like he'll be pretty good at hiding his full abilities from pesky guardsmen.

You're assuming that the party wouldn't have a ranged specialist like Juliette. As an Archer, if Juliette is in the thick of melee, she's doing it wrong, it would be quite easy for an archer to benefit from Aldous' buff.

Heh, you're correct, I was thinking purely in terms of melee, and you've got a good point. Buffing a ranged combatant with an extra attack certainly has its plusses. Aldous will have to be stay within thirty feet of the ranged combatant, so it would depend on how the battlefield shapes up. It is a good strategy to put into the toolbox.

Nissim Siverto wrote:
Or a bomb thrower if Nissim goes that route. And I do like the thought of Molotov Cocktails in the streets :)

I like that thought too! Very fitting. Now I've got this image of Nissim wearing a bandanna over his nose and mouth, and using his arcane mark to scrawl radical graffiti on building walls, preferably in a romance-sounding language. Taldane sounds like Portuguese, right?

Sam C. wrote:
If it comes up that the party has to restrain someone in a fight that they can't simply kill, I'll wager that touch debuff becomes a lot more useful when Aldous climbs into the grapple to grab an arm or leg.

That's a great idea, Sam C. I'm adding that tactic to the toolbox too.

MordredofFairy wrote:
Regardless, only few options would need to be discussed before game start (because, for example, early access to whole-group unseen teleport at Level 1 or 2 can break a lot of challenges).

I've switched out the Warp sphere and added the talent Ranged Healing, allowing Aldous to heal at close range instead of touch. Additionally, I've made some other alterations, detailed here for ease of access analysis:

- Got rid of the wild surge drawback, as I didn't like the thought of going to heal a dying PC and triggering a surge that damages them further.

- Lowered Aldous' int to 18 and raised his cha to 8 and dex to 16, and made the associated changes.

- Bought gear.

- Picked up the suspicious trait, which probably comes naturally for a Chelish contract lawyer.

- Traded out the extra spell points feat for an extra magical talent feat.

- Took the Fire Blast talent, adding some damage to Aldous' ranged touch attack.

Been lurking in this thread a bit, here's my submission.

Everything's in the alias, going with Boon #1 to VMC with Sorcerer (Rakshasa bloodline) for some additional deception. How would I list that on the stats, GM?

Don't worry, you're not late...

Although the GM seems to favor Tieflings and keeps complaining about the lack of them, though to a racist Cheliaxian, a skinwalker may seem like a tiefling.

Crunch finished on this guy including adding in the personality info and where I'm planning to go with the character/how he will benefit the group (both listed under "Insight" spoiler on the profile). Please let me know if I missed anything whenever you get the chance to give it a once over!

I mean, I could do that too, but I've got a character in another campaign that's about to kick off who's a Tiefling Warpriest of Milani, I hate to feel like I'm playing the same character in two campaigns.

Hehe...it's not so much that I specifically "favor" them, it's just that they are, together with humans and halflings, making up the majority of the population.

I opened up all races, but hoped to get some of the more represented races in, then fill from the others.
It has no real effect on getting picked, just a matter of personal preference.(unless, of course, there's duplicate entries...if I get to choose between 2 more or less identical builds with good backstory, one an aasimar, the other a tiefling, I won't have to flip a coin to pick...)

@Raell: Sorry, did not respond: However you want to list it, as long as I know what you're going for. I'm currently mostly reviewing those people who entered the sheet provided by Hotaru, but will eventually take a look at all of the entries. As long as the information is somewhere in there, I'll most probably find it, or tell you otherwise.

The review this week is just a first-over and some people(not all...either because I understood the background, concept and crunch thus not having questions, or found nothing problematic etc...in other words it's not bad if you get no feedback) will receive feedback tomorrow - but the hard part will come next week. While it will close on 30th, with all the submissions, I may take a few days to announce the picks because I'll go over everything in detail again.
I want everybody to have a fair chance with all the great characters I saw so far, and that means not rushing things and taking the time to consider carefully not only what a single character brings to the table, but also how the group dynamics would benefit from them;- since there have been a few games(including ones I applied to myself) that have been dead on recruitments end or soon after, I'm just letting you guys know ahead of time - even if the recruitment closes on wednesday, depending on my job's workload I may take until the weekend to actually make my picks next week.

Updating time!

@Raell: I gave you a .5 for Control (Wasp Familiar), along with a full rank in Melee. Calistria is an uncommon, but fitting choice.

@Majash: I added Drow Nobility to your portion of the sheet. Having taken a closer look at Drow Nobility, I'm treating it as +.5 to enable.

@Zartanna: +.5 to enable because Drow Noble grants Levitate which is a potent buff if used on a caster. :)

@Mordred: I think I'm done updating Lily. I swapped curses to feed back into her divination effects from Streets and Stars, as well as to get a 'real' Curse. :P

If Majesh is in game with me. We can work on a few links =^^=

Ok, I've edited both to list the VMC boon, and put the Emissary archetype on Pepper.

@Hotaru: Good work on the spreadsheet!

Alright, here's Ouachitonian's submission. Crunch is in the profile.

Background:

Spoiler:
Sylvanus grew up in the countryside of Ravounel, son of an impoverished house that had been minor nobles before they backed the wrong horse in the Chelish Civil War. He grew up on the legends of his family's past glories, from the Civil War to tales of great sorcerers among his distant ancestors. He also grew up the butt of many jokes among the local youth, whether due to his family's lost prestige, their "faithlessness" (at least as far as the church of Asmodeus was concerned), or simply his looks and awkward mannerisms. One day in his early teens, the ridicule turned to fear. That day, caught out under the light of the moon in his tiny home village, he learned, and his village learned, that he was a skinwalker. After this, no one joked in his presence, but the stares and whispers followed him everywhere. His parents sent him away, first to a magical school, hoping to awaken the dormant magic in his sorcerous blood, then to live with a Centaur in the woods, who taught him the ways of the Ranger. During this time he learned to control his shifting in new and unforeseen ways, even while he still practiced the rudimentary sorcery he had learned before. He also found passionate faith in Milani, whom his family had begun to follow in secret after the Thrunes rose to power. It was in this last capacity that he came to Kintargo. When members of the Rose of Kintargo who had had dealings with his village congregation(including some of his few close friends) disappeared after Barzillai Thrune came to power, the local priest asked him to put his Ranger's skills to work and investigate. Thus he found himself in a city far larger than the hamlet he had come of age in, where the crush of people made him desperately uncomfortable, but the anonymity buoyed his spirit. No one here, endless as the multitudes were, knew the secret boons "tainting" his blood.

Personality:

Spoiler:
Sylvanus isn't much of a people person. He's more comfortable in the woods, in the company of animals. But he knows he has to deal with others, so he tries, however awkwardly in social situations. Motivated by years of ridicule, he pushed himself hard as he came of age, training his body and spirit, seeking to prove to everyone who'd ever doubted him that he could make something of himself. He's very driven. He's in Kintargo seeking information on the fates of his fellow Milanites, but was raised to resent the Thrunes and their Demonic allies, so he's happy to get involved in anything that might bring them down a peg. (He's at the protest to stay up on current events, hoping to pick up some clue to the disappearances)

Appearance

Spoiler:
Sylvanus is an unassuming man of about average height, average appearance at best,, perhaps on the thin side, but generally pretty forgettable. Fairly hirsute, with short reddish-brown hair covering his head, face, arms, legs, and chest, he has dark brown eyes, and is unusually tan for a Chelaxian, with almost coppery skin (actually a subtle pointer to his Draconic heritage). When his Draconic blood does manifest (when he's casting arcane magic or using his bloodline powers), his skin becomes brighter, like burnished metal, and his eyes turn a piercing blue-green. When using his shapeshifting, his already-significant hair gets even thicker, his teeth grow sharper, ears longer, and face extends into a muzzle. His hands become wicked claws, and his legs reshape themselves into a digitigrade canine stance.

My Goals:

Spoiler:
I'm aiming for a melee fighter, using his claws primarily. Starting out as a Ranger (Natural Attack Style) with growing shapeshifting abilities (that will allow selective temporary boosting of attack, damage, AC, etc without losing spellcasting like a barbarian would), then later leveraging his Draconic blood and sorcerous training (3 levels of Gestalt) to go into Dragon Disciple and end up sort of a Gish-y character (If I counted right, I can have 10-12 levels each of Sorcerer and Ranger casting, plus pretty respectable melee attacks and AC. Some of the nice things about natural attacks is that he's always got a hand free, and doesn't have to worry about hiding a sword or something from the town guard (just drop out of shapeshifter form and even his claws go away), should be helpful while we're trying to stay hidden. If we end up outside town much his skills (Survival, Knowledge Nature, Handle Animal, etc) will be pretty useful as well.

Wow, that was longer than I thought. I've never done the 10 minute background before, I need to do more thinking about it, but I'll try to add that later.

@10-minute-background: I know it usually takes more than those 10 minutes if done properly, but I like it in that it forces people to a.: think about certain aspects of their character they would possibly neglect otherwise(quirks, mannerisms, memories, secrets, ...); b.: makes them distill certain points or background characters into a form that shows their subjective importance(e.g. which characters get listed? what secret does the character have?), and c.: gives me a few plot hooks to potentially use, with the goals, the unknown secret, and the characters.

@Sylvanus: I'm not sure that Empyreal Bloodline is possible as part of a Crossblooded. There are a ton of ways that different DMs run it, and I believe I run it differently from roughly everyone. I'm also not sure of which bloodline power you took (Heavenly Fire or Dragon Claws). I put you up on the sheet, though. Mage Armor is a .5 in enable, but might be significantly more useful depending on the party makeup (Monks!)

@Hotaru/Sylvanus: He run it by me via PM first. I told him a number of wildbloods that are a reason it's not allowed to crossblood them, usually. He wanted to pick it up to reduce mad and consolidate his caster stat...so under the house rule that he only get the arcana from empyreal and pick nothing else, I allowed him to crossblood with it. But thanks for catching these kinds of things! It helps a lot that you're helping the applicants, as well!

Step 1) Monks
Step 2) Mage Armor (and eventually Barkskin)
Step 3) Profit!

If Nissim does go with Alchemy for the boon then yeah, there would be something to work with there. The Siverto family's shop has been around for generations, but it's a small family operated affair. They aren't looking to dominate all the trade in the city, just to serve their neighborhood and surrounds well. Unless you're setting up business right down the street in Old Kintargo there's plenty of room for both businesses to flourish. People are only going to walk so far for their cures anyway.

I guess there could be rivalry over who has the highest quality, but on the other hand maybe they have been talking about establishing an apothecary's guild in the city.

Edit: Actually with 5 seconds more thought.. Whether Nissim takes alchemy or not won't change his background though. So the above could apply regardless of the boon.

I have been looking at this thread of a while, and I still like the Mystic Thurge, so here is Fallon Mathis.

Character Concept:

I have never seen a Mystic Thurge work in an actual game. The gestalt Boon makes this a valid opportunity. I want to play a character that is more than someone with access to arcane and divine, but tries to explore the balance between the two. A long story arc or AP provides enough time to delve into this issue. I also wanted to play a character that was going to be useful to the party with some crowd control and healing options, thereby freeing up skills, strikers and tanks to do their jobs.

Background:

Being a half elf means never really fitting in. Being a gestalt means never being committed to a single choice. Fallon Mathis is one such individual. Torn between faith and tradition, child of a single parent and seemingly alone in the world, Fallon has only recently found success. Following his faith (and heart), he has finally found friendship, love and a purpose. While the mystery of his mother still exists, Fallon is happy for the first time.

Ten-minute-background:

Essential Things
1) Fallon’s human mother left the elves for unknown reasons when he was very young and his father, Fethril, forbade him from asking questions about her as it was distracting Fallon from his arcane studies. The fact that his mother left was often used by others to tease and bully Fallon as he grew up. He remembers she was Osirian, and has come to suspect she was a priestess, but has no idea what could have forced her to leave the enclave (or Fallon) behind.
2) Fallon often felt he was an outcast. As he studied the Arcane Arts, he heard a calling from Nethys. The voiced promised that should Fallon follow the path, he would never be alone again.
3) Fallon’s devout worship of Nethys has caused a rift between him and his father. Fethril cast Fallon out from the elves for putting his faith before his dedication to the arts.
4) Fallon has become involved with Varra Coppersmith, human daughter to a wealth moneylender. Knowing he will need her father’s approval to wed, Fallon has been on the lookout for opportunities to earn enough money and status to be accepted.
5) In the seminary, Fallon met and befriended Bonnel. Many years of study and several evenings in taverns have seen the two become the best of friends.

Goals
1) Fallon would like to find is mother and learn the reason she left.
2) Fallon wants to appease Nethys, and earn the respect of Alden Coppersmith, by becoming the foremost practitioner (and ‘ambassador’) of dual casters and increase the sphere of influence Nethys has in all kingdoms.

Secrets
1) Despite all outward appearances, Fallon does not know what he would do if forced between the love of his life and the strength of his soul. To date, his commitment to Nethys and his desire for Varra has never come into conflict.
2) Unbeknownst to Fallon, Bonnel has always been jealous of the half-elf for being both a divine and arcane caster. Bonnel is charismatic as well as politically savvy and uses that to move up the ranks of the priesthood. He works behind the scenes to hinder Fallon, both professionally and personally. Bonnel has been trying to manipulate Varra into leaving Fallon.
3) Alden Coppersmith is not all that he seems. No one is certain where his wealth came from. He has underworld connections, but there are rumors that he ‘made a deal’ to become rich and powerful.
4) Fethril secretly worships Nethys. Years ago, an avatar appeared and informed him it was the will of Nethys that Fallon be cast out into the world. Fethril believes both he and Fallon are undergoing a test to prove themselves for some greater purpose. Fethril has surreptitiously been following Fallon’s progress.

People
1) Bonnel is a mover and shaker, climbing up the political ladder. He maintains his ‘friendship’ with Fallon until he can use him for the greatest advantage. To that end, he does what he can to assist Fallon publically if for no other reason than to be able to take credit for his success. Bonnel also spends time subtly driving a wedge between Fallon and Varra.
2) The Coppersmith family. Alden has made a deal to become the rich and powerful man he is today. Eventually he will find himself in a position to pay back whomever (or whatever) gave him his money. Varra cares very deeply for Fallon, and could see marrying him one day, but she has started to question how committed Fallon is to the relationship.
3) While being unable to directly aide his son, Fethril would indeed try to assist him if able to.

Memories
1) Fallon has fleeting memories of his mother. He remembers her swarthy skin, raven black hair and ice blue eyes, but little else. Fallon will often unconsciously hum Osirian lullabies his mother sang to him.
2) Fallon fondly remembers the first time his father allowed him into the study and saw him wield magic. It ignited something within him. Whenever he sees or encounters magic new to him, he gets that same jolt of excitement.
3) Fallon will never forget the first time he made love to Varra. From the scent of her perfume to the way she glistened in the candle light, all of it is etched in his mind. The auburn haired girl is the only girl he has been with.

Design Notes
Fallon has lived a difficult life. His father would never tell him why his mother left and continued to push him academically. Being good was never enough for his father. Being a half elf among the pureblooded led to him being ostracized by his peers. Eventually finding solace in his spiritual side, Fallon began to explore his faith, leading to being disowned by his father. It was at this lowest moment of his life when Nethys spoke to him, promising that he never need be alone. Making his way to a larger human city, Fallon joined the seminary so he could explore his potential. Things slowly turned around. He found acceptance in the church, met a true friend and fell in love.

A basic idea of where you're planning to go and how you will benefit the group.... Looking to play a character that "versitally supportive", from locking down the battlefield and preventing us from being out numbered to keeping everyone buffed and healthy. The goal is to play a mystic thurge, hoping in at after 3rd level and seeing how viable a class it really is.

@Silvio and Nissim: Your shared profession would probably serve as a an excellent point of contact for Boros as well. Though not in the sense of a competitor, but rather as a highly-specialized (and thoroughly junior) colleague who's more than happy to trade his expertise with things that go *boom* and propel chunks of metal at high speed for improvements to same.

While he does dabble in making other alchemical substances, that's mostly for keeping himself supplied with combat tools. Making it, on commission, for someone else would be an occasional sideline for when the merc work isn't enough to keep him (and his gun) fed, something he'd be quick to point out to the long-established local practioners.

Goals, eh? Looks like I overlooked that...

Planning on running straight Slayer until 10th level, then going into Sentinel. He'll stay mostly a melee build for combat, and I plan on getting Weapon Finesse at 3rd level, then the Whip Mastery line of feats. With his high Charisma & selection of skills, Raell would make a good face, only aided by the Sorcerer VMC I'm planning on.

I started writing feedback to those people on the spreadsheet.
Some people, I asked for clarification on things, or pointed out certain aspects and suggesting either a few changes or better reasoning for them.

From some people, I got feedback for my feedback, already. And some of these people went and wrote a whole wall of text(3 people even defining it as such themselves) - I'll state it for those who already did, and those who possibly will: I am reading it all...but alas, if I start writing equally long answers now and we go back and forth a bit, I'll do nothing else until recruitment closes :)

I will write back, and acknowledge the input during the next few days, but simply wanted you all to know that while I appreciate if you care about my input and let me know, I'll not have the time to start pm'ing with everybody right now- I hope you all understand that.

Phew. Hard work, this. But all done. I think I got everybody on the Spreadsheet(except Nissim, whom I already wrote with recently) and delivered some thoughts. If I did miss someone, please let me know!
I know I've done it during work breaks, at home before/after cooking and before/after time with my newborn. There were breaks of varying lenght and at times my concentration may have been lapsing.
For that same reason, if my grammar or spelling is lacking, please don't hold it against me and go by intent.

Okay, Ten-minute background.

Five Things:

Spoiler:

1) Sylvanus is a newcomer to Kintargo, having arrived only recently to investigate the sudden silence of the Rose of Kintargo.
2) He is a faithful Milanite, and serving his faith is a powerful motivator for him, though in his case this usually takes the form of fighting Milani's enemies rather than evangelism in her name.
3) Outside of religion, his most powerful motivator is restoring his family's former noble rank, lost when they opposed House Thrune's rise to power.
4) He has very few contacts in Kintargo, most of the people he knew being vanished members of the Rose.
5) His upbringing has left him rather withdrawn an awkward around people. He was never well-liked, and the revelation of his tainted blood at puberty only turned jokes at his expense to fearful ostracism. He tries to stay hopeful, as the Everbloom would will, but deep in his heart there is more bitterness and cynicism than anything.

Two Goals:

Spoiler:

1) Learn the whereabouts and/or fates of the Order of the Rose.
2) Lessen the grip of House Thrune on Kintargo in whatever way he is able, without opening his family up to retribution if at all possible.

Two Secrets:

Spoiler:

1) He is a skinwalker, a secret he tries to keep from everyone who doesn't already know it (Which is essentially everyone in Kintargo, and most of the bare handful who knew were part of the Rose.) He will reveal it only when necessary (usually meaning when he has to use his shapeshifted natural weapons to defend himself)
2) An old enemy from his youth, who knows his secret (and bears the scars to prove it) is an aspirant of the Order of the Rack, and present in Kintargo (neither knows of the other's presence or allegiance).

Three People:

Spoiler:

1) Blood: His cousin Patrek Tyle, now a young priest of Milani, was his closest friend in childhood. Growing up together they were as close as brothers, until Patrek left for the big city to study under the senior Priest of the Rose of Kintargo.
2) Romance: During his short study at a magical academy in Kintargo, he met and fell in love with a young Tiefling named Laurel Brun, who was also a student at the academy. While they became fast friends, she never returned his romantic interest. They spoke only rarely after he left the academy. Last he heard (several years ago), she was working towards becoming an Armiger of the Order of the Torrent.
3) Honor: Thomyn Auffberger, a professor of conjuration at the academy, is a man he always admired and looked up to for his vast knowledge and magical skill, despite their differing stances on many issues. Auffberger, an Abadaran dwarf (and old enough to remember the Chelish Civil War) rather likes the order the Thrunes have brought to Cheliax, though he does think Barzillai has gone somewhat overboard. He is no friend to Devils, but neither will he support a new rebellion against Cheliax. He remains a valuable source of advice for Sylvanus, and one of his few known contacts in Kintargo.

Memories:

Spoiler:

1) He remembers his first (and quite involuntary) transformation. The discomfort as his body reshaped itself, the light of the moon, the screams and jeers of onlookers and the scent of their fear, the confusion and shame as he tried to grasp what was happening, then the rage and desire to tear the jeering villagers apart, only just restrained.
2) He remembers the sense of wonder when he arrived at the magical academy and first saw trained mages at work, marvelling at their ability to control and manipulate the eldritch forces he knew ran in his own blood. Even the city of Kintargo itself inspired awe and bewilderment, being orders of magnitude larger than any town he'd ever seen.
3) He remembers the last time he saw Laurel at a tavern, where they swapped stories of where life had taken them. How she told him how she intended to become a member of the Order, and he told her of his training as a Ranger. He remembers asking her to come with him to the wilderness, how she declined and the sadness of their parting. The sting of knowing he might never see her again, and that he had likely blown his last chance at her love.

Did I miss anything?

Added a background and appearance for Silvio.

Background:

Silvio and Lars were born in Kintargo to a fishmonger’s family. Their father, Hunley Slate, was a fishmonger on Yolubilis Harbor, but he didn’t want that life for his sons. He paid a hefty fee to get Lars an apprenticeship with a local Alchemist. Silvio helped his father with the business, instead becoming good with merchant figures and selling to the locals. After he was old enough, he worked for several merchants on Bleakbridge, hawking wares and making sales. He was sharp with figures and could have been a scribe, but the bulk of the family funds went to help Lars with his apprenticeship.

Lars and Silvio were close even through Lars’ apprenticeship. Once Lars completed his training and was ready to become a journeyman, Silvio convinced him to stay in Kintargo instead and try to open his own business. Silvio was working at the Tooth and Nail at the time, helping to keep the books and serve food. He convinced their father to pool his funds with his own earnings at that point to help Lars buy a small shop in the Harbor District where Silvio and Lars could work together.

Opening day at the Bottled Sage was a great day for the brothers. They finally had something to call their own and they were convinced that with Lars’ skill and Silvio’s business, they could buy the whole city in a matter of years. While they struggled like any business, soon the Sage was popular and Lars’ concoctions were well-known. Lars married a girl named Demara and soon had a son, Emil. Silvio continued to keep the business running, even learning how to help his older brother create some of the alchemical items.

When martial law was declared in Kintargo, Silvio and Lars faced a rush at the shop to purchase items. People were worried shops would be shut down next and wanted to get their good in a hurry. In particular, Lars seemed to take the new of the Thrune crackdown especially hard. He began to leave without explanation and Silvio didn’t seem him for several days. One morning, Demara was banging on Silvio’s door yelling that Lars hadn’t come home the last night. They searched for any sign of him at the taverns, the jails, and the shop. But it was no use. No one had seen him or knew where he was. A couple of days later, Silvio awoke a second time to loud banging on his door. This time it was a friend who told him the Bottled Sage was burning. By the time he got there, the fire brigade had put out the flames, but the shop was ruined. All of the inventory was destroyed and the half of the shop was a burnt husk. A couple of witnesses claimed to have seen three armored men inside overturning items before the fire broke out. They thought the men were Hellknights, but weren’t sure. Faced with a missing brother and the loss of their business, Silvo nearly broke down. It was only the arrival of Demara and Emil which snapped him back to reality. He had to help care for them until Lars was found.

Later that night, Silvio was going through papers in Lars’ home trying to see if there were any clues to his whereabouts. In a drawer with bills, he found an odd locked box. Demara didn’t know anything about it. Using some old tool of his, Silvio managed to pick the lock, but as soon as he opened it, a trap was sprung. A vial of acid broke in the box and began dissolving the papers inside. Silvio quickly dumped out the box, noting the acid was their signature red color. Unfortunately, most of the papers were destroyed, but Silvio managed to salvage a few scraps. Among them were there words ‘Silver’ and ‘Ravens’. Silvio realized that the timing of Lars’ disappearance could match the rumored attacks against the Silver Ravens. If he was going to find out what happened to his brother, Silvio needed to contact the Silver Ravens and see what they knew.

Appearance:

Silvio is a slightly heavyset man who clearly has enjoyed his success in recent years. He wears good quality cloth with well-dyed colors, trying to give off the impression of a well off merchant. In his younger years, Silvio was a quick rascal. The success with his business has slowed and fattened him a bit, but he still remembers how to move when he needs to. He wears his hair longer in the back with a sleek and trimmed beard. He often carries a dagger and a couple of vials of acid from the shop to defend himself with if necessary. Recently he’s purchased a rapier and armor as martial law was declared.

Just a heads-up...today I'm with my boss all day long. That means no posting from work. I'll be back in about...12 hours. Be patient, especially with the PM's, I'll come back to all of you, but it WILL take time.(no guarantees I manage today for everybody)

@Peet: I gave some thought to what Hotaru brought up. I'm not sure if it truly fits what you are going for, but companion figurine feat could also set you up on the familiar thing.

I had originally figured that I would go with the Falconer archetype of Ranger as my gestalt class, which provides a bird animal companion (which is small) but I think this is probably a bad idea mechanically and I don't really need three ranks of ranger in gestalt.

My submission will have the haunted oracle curse and so he will be frequently haunted by a spirit that manifests as a silver raven (probably only he can see it). I want something unusual to spark an interest in the silver ravens in the character, so he will take this as a sign.

The companion figurine idea is neat but I will have to pick up the figurine first. Does the companion figurine improve as you gain levels? I can't find that in the text.

The text does actually say - if only in a bit of a runabout way. When they say 'X is treated as a Y animal companion' they mean exactly that way (except the noted differences).

For example the Ebony Fly when active would work exactly as a normal Horse animal companion except at and after level 8 it has a fly speed. This means you can simply look at the druid animal companion table for horse and set that to your level.

It also means most figurines actually grow weaker if you pick up the feat at a low level. Which is sorta odd :P

Hope this helps : )

Edit: As for the raven you would simply use the stats for either a Bird animal companion or a Raven familiar and slap on the extras (which for the familiar version doesn't really do much of anything beyond looking cool!).

Just found this. I am ... tempted to try. Well, what the heck.

Submitting (more or less) Ularik, a qlippoth-spawn tiefling originally created for Nate Lange's 'Divine Rise of the Runelords' game that I'm now playing Windsight in. The background still needs to be shifted (and the 'divine power' parts stripped out) in order to refine it for this game, but the essense would be the same - a big bulky bruiser who really just wants to be left in peace, help people out if he can, that sort of thing. You know - the Hulk. ;)

I'd go with the free multiclassing boon, probably Inquisitor I think, though I'd also like to know whether or not I could spend a feat in order to get the two variant tiefling abilities which are already on the character (#16, oversized limbs, and the 'semi-standard' prehensile tail) instead of Fiendish Sorcery and the spell-like ability.

@peet: Lessah got it right, so...yeah - just confirming.

@seth86: noted, I will see if I can take a look at Aldrea before it's time to pick, but I acknowledge the replacement of Zartana.

@Windsight: the prehensile tail is a completely legal alternate racial trait gained by giving up fiendish sorcery. No discussion there.
When I did note that the variant heritage does not take a feat, I also stated we're not using the variant tables.
I know you are willing to pay the feat, to gain access to it, but even so, the power levels of the variant abilities differ wildly, and I would definitely not want people to cherry-pick from it, so I'm afraid the answer is no.
(Also, you seem to have misinterpreted oversized limbs as powerful build, which it is not...it merely allows use of large weapons without penalty, which is potentially problematic in it's own variety of ways)
You can certainly spice up the flavor, alter the description, be socially treated as having large limbs, but I don't want to introduce the mechanical effect for them.

No, I got the powerful build / oversized limbs thing - it's an issue with Hero Lab, actually. I was hoping it'd be okay due to the monk's limited weapon list, but I completely understand where you're coming from. I'll do a rewrite - thinking about alternatives and the Boon choices had already gotten me considering a more-or-less straight-up Inquisitor anyhow.

Swapped Aldrea in instead of Zart and updated the listings there.

@Two-headed-snake-wyrm-thing: I'll wait until you have an idea of what you'd like to play. :)

Thanks
Eventually she will also give the party passive, continuous buffs =^^=

Since he did not post here: Arim Senka also altered his submission to Zoren Kaen

@Aldrea: on Urban Ranger+Warden. In case you meant to stack the boni from favored community(which replaces favored terrain) and favored terrain(which replaces favored enemy) I am not certain I'll allow that. Technically they seem untyped, but what I'm reading in favored community, and going by types of boni it would seem they are supposedly the same type. I'm not certain I'm comfortable allowing you a more-or-less permanent +4 due to an urban setting and these boni stacking.

Quote:
Deadline: I would like to keep this open for about 2 weeks. So between 28-31 March, I will announce closing of recruitment with a 48-hour notice, during which I will request everybody interested to re-post their submission before making my pick. Then you will have a few days to make final adjustments and plan ahead as a group before we pick up the game.

Well, time to check who's still around, who's still interested, and who was able to read the whole OP.

Since the ending falls on easter holiday(accidentally) and the posting rate in the thread slowed down somewhat since I gave feedback via PM(and thus got further replies or inquiries that way) I will start the period early and extend it to exactly 77.5 hours.(Wednesday...I think around noon/early afternoon for americas, evening for europe/africa, Thursday for Asia/Australia)

Last minute submissions are also fine until this deadline ends.

(And just to be clear about it: this post and the 77.5 hours are related to the bolded part in the quote - I want everybody still around and still interested to let me know. Most people answered to the feedback PM so I don't expect many people to drop out during this step but it's always a possibility that'll make my job easier.)

Grand Lodge

I am still interested.

I am still interested :)

Still around and still interested as well.

Still here. Will redo character a bit then

I'm still in!

I'm going to drop. I'm applying for a job that requires 5(ish) months of training, during which time I'm probably not going to have Internet access during the workweek (Just found out a couple of days ago about that part of the training). I may not get it, but no reason to string y'all along if I do. Better safe than sorry and all that.

Just to clarify
Warden gives me more Fav terrains. But no fav enemy. And urban just say i need to take urban as my fav terrain and gives me a few rogue skills. And lose some normal ranger skills.
It doesnt stack at lvl1.

@Sylvanus Lukos: If you want, you can still opt-in for the "will fill after start"...in that case, I may contact you sometime down the line, after your training. You can still say no then, of course, so unless you are opposed to join in-progress games thats an option you have.

@Seth86: I was not referring to level 1, I meant the Level 3 Urban Ranger "Favored Community (Ex)", which replaces Favored Terrain.
Since the Boon gives you exactly 3 Levels of Gestalt with the Ranger, I figured you may assume that since both "Favored Community" and "Master of Terrain"(from Warden) give untyped boni, they would stack with each other, resulting in a +6 on all relevant checks from level 3 onward. I simply meant to clarify I will treat both kinds of bonus as "identical", so Favored Terrain(Urban) would overlap, not stack, with choosing Kintargo as Community.

Oh. No! =^^=

Still only get 2xfav at lvl3. For +4. Urban just says i need to have a community. Not terrain. Thats all =^^=

Still here, and still interested.

*small wave*

Not much to add at the moment. :)

Still interested! Best of luck, everyone!

Liberty's Edge
