Boros Black-Hand |
Take care of yourself and get better soon.
Boros Black-Hand |
Ouch. Time to kick back and get healthy, the both of you.
GM Mordred |
@Miranda/Suffocation: I know regular hold breath is 2 rounds per point of Con. For example, if you end up underwater, or something like that.
This is a kind of automaticaly strenuous activity, dangling on a rope from your neck which is why its 1 round per Con point.
At least, thats my in-game explanation for messing up and misreading the rules...the intent was that you have a varying amount of rounds left before actually falling unconscious(Round 9 out of 14=5 rounds left)- which this fits nicely. I could, of course, re-roll for double the round number(1d28 so it's not an automatic improvement), which could be both beneficial or make matters worse. Your call since I misread it.
Nissim Siverto |
Hm, so if I understand what you're saying about underground areas being present, Nissim knows they do exist, but has no reason to believe they one is present here. Would it be reasonable then to ignore the idea until there is a reason of some kind, or we run out of alternatives?
For example if we've looked all around and, at the end of doing it, have found no sign of a hideout, it would be something Nissim might bring up for lack of any alternatives except giving up?
GM Mordred |
Oh, sorry, no, you have reason to believe there is one here. I just did not want you to get "locked" into the idea any entrance would be exactly at the place you are now and have you fixated at searching the exact room where you pondered the thought.
That is just where you figured out(with quite high certainty) there must be a basement, but the entrance could be anywhere in the livery.
As in, you are certain the LIVERY has a basement, but you are not certain your ROOM has an entrance. Should have been more clear, there-
Miranda Greenblossom |
No worries. If we were to go with the straight up Suffocation rules Miranda would probably die of boredom long before actually running out of air anyhow :P
GM Mordred |
Hehe, yeah, some of the rules were build to enforce time-based play at the RL table..."Water is rushing into the closed chamber, and quickly. The process is extremely loud and you are unable to communicate except non-verbally or in a way that operates under water. You draw your breath before the chamber is flooded and find yourself in risk of drowning. What do you do?" - Start Chess Clock and watch the players frantically shout things their characters do.
Miranda Greenblossom |
Boring but prepared wizard; "I cast Water Breathing from my sack of scrolls and silently curse myself for not bringing a mundane waterproof bag ..." :P
GM Mordred |
Oh, fun times.
I dunno why, but I just remembered one time a group of mine was going over the mountains. They could not use the pass because they were wrongfully accused of a crime. One of them, unknown to the others, decided to smuggle a bundle of potent drugs, in raw plant form, across the border.
After a fight, they holed up in a cave in these mountains, and got trapped in there during a Blizzard. It was freezing cold(make-Saves-cold), and while the smuggler was sleeping, they decided to make a fire, searching for anything they could burn, like arrows, mundane cloaks...they found his parcel. One failed knowledge-nature later, they burned the inhaled drug. In a small cave. Entrance almost closed off with snow.
It was hilarious, they played out the drug trip so well I let them get away with some crazy ideas and awarded bonus XP. ^_^
Just wanted to share, even if it's completely unrelated.(well, I guess "find creative solutions while trapped in a small chamber that is slowly becoming more deadly" is a kind of relation)
Miranda Greenblossom |
...but I don't think vivid hallucinations are the right path for Miranda to go down right now ... :P
Varuzhan |
Miranda Greenblossom |
Yeah was thinking about it. But even if halflings are sorta feather-weighted I *think* she would still be heavy enough to be in trouble. But I didn't feel like googling "hanging children/dwarves" and find out :P
Still though, considering the weight/strength ratio pulling herself up enough to at least stop the noose from cutting off the blood*/air flow should be feasible even if she cant get loose completely!
*this being the second quickest way to permanent trouble from hanging I think with snapped neck/decapitation being the fastest. Luckily we avoided that one :P
GM Mordred |
Well, you're not heavy enough for that kind of snapping :)
J/K, I'm not a fan of insta-kill-traps in general. Feels cheesy.
Alas, there WAS a chance for you to get caught up and dangle from your legs, rather than have the noose close around your neck - in which case Belkar's situation may have been relevant ;)
GM Mordred |
Yep, that works, was dynamic DC 15 and DC 10, which you beat, even without adding the +2 Circumstance(even if Sleight-of-Tail is listed as +7, not +8)
Dynamic DC is something I use for combined checks, house-ruly stuff again. Basically every 2 points by which you beat one of the checks give you a +1 circumstance bonus on the other check. That means if your Sleight of Hand in that situation had been 20 and your Strenght Check 8, you could still have beaten the DC. Same for a Strenght Check of 18 and a Sleight of Hand 11, just to give examples. Basically you can compensates for your shortcoming in one field by doing great in the "connected" check.
Either way, feel free to edit your post with your success. Unless you plan on holding on to the rope, you still fall 15 feet, which may warrant an Acrobatics-Check :)
Miranda Greenblossom |
Nice :D
(Resonance adds +2 Dex as a temporary thing which buffs it to +8!)
:)
Boros Black-Hand |
Maybe kind of moot at this point, but I hereby nominate Lily and Juliette as the party faces, with Nissim to act as the auxiliary secondary backup reserve face (emergency use only!) :D.
Miranda Greenblossom |
The distraction plan sounds good but if anyone wants to rotate to adventuring just give me an OOC heads-up and Miranda can go on gnome distraction duty for a while : )
Lily Sable |
Yeah. Working on my third seventy hour week in a row and flu-ish.
I'll see if I can catch up with gameplay tonight.
Boros Black-Hand |
No rush, we're trying to do things that allow Lily and Juliette to work off-screen as much as possible until the two of you are ready to step back into the craziness that is the party :D.
Lily Sable |
With everything already resolved and Lily's actions already spoken for... just gonna pass.
Sorry... just so ridiculously tired.
Good news... not a 70 this week. Get sunday and monday off cause holiday.
Boros Black-Hand |
Precious sleep, yes?
GM Mordred |
@Lily/Juliette:
If I bot you in a situation like this, it's just to keep you "in the loop" of what happens. I by no means mean to highjack your actions by speaking for them.
Definitely DO override them if you want.
I feel that you are happy to get the sleep/quiet, so in this case I doubt you are unhappy about being botted, but just wanted you to know you are free to act again the moment you want, even if you are in the middle of a botted activity.
Juliette Aulamaxa |
@GM, no worries.
Still sick, but wanted to note that tomorrow is my daughter's last day of school, then she has 3 weeks off before she starts extended summer school. I don't know how much longer I'll be sick as between having fevers and trying to take care of my daughter while not quite in my right mind it's hard to really think straight.
Boros Black-Hand |
Still here, lol, just waiting.
GM Mordred |
Aye...it's simply bad timing. We're in the final stretches of a huge project where a new logistics center is in go-live process. But only 1 month of time was estimated for the test procedures, integrating a whole new system interfacing with 3 different (interlocked) systems already in place, and affecting a fourth one in background.
There's lots of problems still open and we are expected to be fully productive starting next week, leading to 12-hour+ work days now. Half the people in my team will be working during the weekend, too.
It was already evident in the past weeks, but right now, there's somewhat of a peak because everybody is well, not panicking, but stressed out due to the deadline on tuesday. I expect about 2 more weeks for things to get ironed out, then things should calm down.
I have the weekend off. Will spend a little time with my baby daughter now and fetch breakfast, then take time for paizo ^_^
I just feel the courtesy should go both ways. If you are unable to post, I want you to let me know, and it's only fair I do the same.(even if I was late this time, sorry)
Boros Black-Hand |
No worries, that's kind of the whole advantage and point to PbP, as I understand it. I'm not getting jammed up waiting, because I've been using what I learned in this campaign to work up characters for others. Had some success at it too, so I'm getting my fix :D.
Miranda Greenblossom |
That does indeed sound a bit rough. Glad you got some time off at least : )
Lily Sable |
I'm incredibly late everywhere. :(
Nissim Siverto |
I've also had extra work for the past couple of weeks, but nothing like that Lily! :(
Also I'v been taking the slowdown as an opportunity to take care of some things in another campaign that demanded some extra attention (a character rebuild). But I'm still around and ready to go when things pick back up.
At least the extra busy came at the same time for most of us. Works out better that way. Wellness and rest to everyone!
Miranda Greenblossom |
Note to self: Get some steel wire and some string!
Random thought: I wonder if the Thieves' Tools include something vaguely hook-shaped. Then she would just need to tie the hook-thingy to something long so she can really fish that silvery shiny out...
Lily Sable |
It's sort of been a long time coming... but with my new workload, I've found that I have nearly no time for Paizo at all. As you've probably noticed, my posts have fallen both in count and quality... and I've come to realize I cannot keep up with the majority of my games - whether because they move too quickly, or because I completely lack the inspiration.
Ultimately, I've decided to drop out of nearly all of my campaigns for now. Sorry for any trouble this causes. I can stick around and do an inadequate job of trying to see my way out, or you can feel free to bot my character.
Miranda Greenblossom |
Naww sorry to hear that! But it was fun to have you around, see you some other time and place : )
Boros Black-Hand |
Sorry to hear it, truly. Maybe we can have Lily stick around as a morale officer, working in the background as an NPC. That way, if you ever get some time and energy, you can drop back in.
GM Mordred |
I was afraid it would come to that, but I am sorry to hear it regardless. Since you did let us know, Lily will be an NPC in the city. I'll not get her terribly involved for the time being, so as to not establish a different personality for her, but if you ever have enought time to come back, thats an option.
(As said, people who disappear without notice tend to die gruelsome deaths...)
I would love for you to try and stick around, but I don't think that would be to anybody's benefit. I'll keep you in the background with Rexus in this scene, then let you return to Songbird Hall.
Lily Sable |
Thank you. If you would, move me to inactive. If things change (like... if I change Cells, and I get more time...), then this will be one of the games I'm most likely to try to return to. Lily's got family and friends, after all. :P
Varuzhan |
I'm really sorry to hear that, Lily! You're definitely in a crazy time right now. Hope things ease up for you.
And Juliette, hope you feel better soon!
