You hear some noise and the cabinet's door swings open. After a few seconds you see a pale face coming out of the cabinet followed by a blubbery body. "My Name is Saldak, I'm one of the museum's scribe. These are my collegues." Saldak says and points at the two men at the wall.
Aramil Sionadel |
Looking over his shoulder at the unconcious men, Aramil turns back to Saldak to reply "I'll think they'll be fine now. But tell me, what happened here? We have vague reports, but nothing concrete. Where did this mist come from, and do you know anything of the curator's whereabouts?"
Pooka Bladespinner |
Jumping off from Aramil's questions, Pooka adds, Is there anyone else besides the curator who work here who might have been affected like these two? My companions are very good at what they do, and one of your friends nearly died because of it. I would hate to see anyone lose their life unnecessarily...
GM Baerlie |
“Master Nigel was taking stock of some idols in the East Exhibit Storage Room earlier this morning. Suddenly the offices flooded with a strange mist. I smelled something wrong with those hideous monkey-faced things as soon as Lugizar brought them out of his pack. I’ve a nose for trouble, I do! No one listens! The mist crawled down Yannis' and Kadarnik's throats and they became insane. They startet to beat me so I locked myself in the cabinet.” Saldak says still shaking. "Maldroog our watchmen should also be somewhere in the museum."
Aramil Sionadel |
Aramil nods in agreement with Zac and looks back to Saldak, saying "Thank you for the information. We'll get this mess sorted out quickly. In the mean time, I suggest you leave the building while it's still relatively safe. The way to the front door is clear, so you shouldn't have any trouble on the way out."
Aramil will then make his way back to the main hallway and check the door on the opposite side of, putting his ear against it to see if he can hear anything on the other side.

Pooka gets back up on his loyal steed, and makes sure he has all of his gear. Then he follows along with Aramil.

Sun Desin |
Sun, the fight over, moves over to the bound men and kneels before each in turn.
"Rest easy," Sun says while casting stabilize on each of them. That done, Sun will follow the group to the next door keeping alert for any further danger.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
GM Baerlie |
You find scraps of Mwangi cloth inscribed with strange writing. The cloth (made from beaten bark) is quite ancient, and its original inventory tag states that it was cataloged along with “Tik Taan Idols, courtesy of Lugizar Trantos”.
DC 15 Linguistics: reveals not only a warning against the idols’ corrupting powers, but also a powerful chant that dispels their influence over men. A bard with the countersong ability may speak the chant aloud (using countersong while doing so) to break the hold of the Tik Taan over any listeners. When employed in this manner, the cloth is a reusable item, allowing a bard to use it for as many rounds as he can countersong. Any humanoid with the Mist-Tainted Template who hears the chant gains another saving throw against the mist each round it hears the countersong, but it must use the bard’s Perform skill check result (any Perform skill) for the save.
A spellcaster who deciphers the writing (either by the use of the Linguistics skill or via magic, such as a read magic spell) may also read it as a scroll of break enchantment. This too ends the Tik Taan’s influence on any one subject, but doing so causes the writing to vanish as a common scroll, which can never be used again.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Listening intently first, then opening the door and taking a good look as he enters, Pooka rides carefully into the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Maldroog has got to be in here somewhere, hopefully not as insane as the last group, keep your eyes peeled.
Insidion |
Insidion snarls at the pale man as he leaves the building, showing his large tiefling fangs.
As he stalks back and forth, he sees a scrap of cloth with ancient writing on it. Unsure whether to read it or eat it, he hands it to Sun.

Sun did not notice the scrap of paper on the ground, so is surprised when Insidion reaches down and handing him something. Taking a look at the scroll, he scratches his bald head in thought.
"Well what have we here?" Sun mumbles, trying to make sense of the writing
Linguistics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
"This looks like our language, but I cannot understand anything, too old I guess. There is a note that says it was filed away with the Tik-Taan idols at least. Perhaps if we find the rest of those we can piece together more of the message?" Sun says quietly to Insidion. "I wish that strange fellow we met a moment ago didn't run off. Oh well, what's done is done I suppose. Let's go help Pooka, who knows what kind of trouble we can get into in there."
Sun will enter into the room Pooka ventured, keeping his eyes open and sling ready.
GM Baerlie |
A large placard above the entryway to this hall reads “Hunting the Beasts of Legend” in great block letters. This gigantic chamber is relatively free of mist, and darkness is held at bay by braziers of radiant light. Behemoths occupy these halls, great taxidermy nightmares such as a two-headed bear easily taller than an ogre, a great desiccated beetle, its carapace larger than the face of the clock tower of Absalom’s Clockwork Cathedral, a massive specimen of chimera, its jaws open in a mock roar, and an assembled skeleton of a tyrant lizard. The walls here are studded with strange masks, staves, spears, and other implements of long forgotten cultures, most likely used in ritual hunts of the beasts preserved here.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Pooka moves carefully through the room, keeping a close eye on the taxidermy, particularly considering what happened with the mummified remains in the room previous to this one. Upon reaching one of the doors to the offices, Pooka listens intently as Luna sniffs at the door frame.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
If nothing comes to life and attacks us in this room, I will wait for the rest of the party to join us in here and then open this door.
Wandering through the room, Pooka wonders out loud, I wonder if any of this stuff is magical...
Sun Desin |
"This room is both inspiring and frightening at the same time," Sun says looking around. [/b]"Look at all of these relics and just imagine having to survive with only these tools."[/b]
Sun begins to walk around and explore the room, paying more attention to the tools and implements of the ancients long past than the beasts. After a few moments, the words spoken by Pooka sink in.
"You make a good point Pooka, let me see if I can find any. Perhaps it will help us or at least stop us from being surprised from something we cannot see." Sun says, stopping in-front of one of the strange masks and begin chanting under his breath to cast detect magic. He will then move his gaze slowly around the room looking for auras. Once he gets a feel for the room, if no one is in a rush he will take the time to learn and see what is present and see if there is anything of use. Knowing the words of the scroll, he will also try to see if the idols are present in this room.

Pooka wheels his mount around at the sound of Sun's warning. Luna digs her heels in and coils her rear haunches back, prepared to charge at this new enemy once it finishes revealing itself.

Pooka Bladespinner |
I am waiting to post my action until I know what the Masks do... All we have left to act before the masks is Aldenharn I believe.
**Edit** With all due respect to Aldenharn, he hasn't posted since 7/25/2014, about 11 days ago. Is it possible to move on either around him, or without him?
Aramil Sionadel |
I was about to point that out, too. Is he even in the game anymore?
P.S. If I hit, then I only did 10 points of damage. I have no clue why I thought that I was dealing 2d6 in sneak attack damage.
GM Baerlie |
I already wrote Aldenharn a message telling him we miss him. I will bot him until he's back.
Sun and Aramil are able to destroy the blue mask. Zac does not hit a second time.
Aldenharn gets closer to the remaining mask. double move

The shriek finished, Sun with a snarl of his own tries to quickly put a stone in the masks mouth, but the effort of aiming and trying to go too fast causes the stone to fling wide.
Aramil Sionadel |
As he sees almost his entire team drop, Aramil grits his teeth and mutters to himself "Well, this just got interesting..."
He then moves forward to attack the creature.

Figuring it is a pain thing to break the hold of the shriek, Sun moves in front of Insidion to break the line of sight between him and the mask and gives Insidion a decent slap to the face while staring him directly in the eyes.
"Snap out of it, you are missing all the fun!" Sun says.
That is all I will do this turn, a move action and a 'slap' action
GM Baerlie |
Sun slaps Insidion who starts to move again after this. Aldenharn attacks the mask with flurry of blows, but only the second attempt is successfull.

Pooka Bladespinner |
Well, that was rather embarrassing, eh Luna? Thanks for taking care of that, Pooka nods to Sun, Aramil and Insidion.
Anything else in here going to spring to life before I open this door?
Pooka flashes a wry grin and turns towards the door he was moments from opening before the masks attacked...
Sun Desin |
"I have more respect for these ancient artifacts as the time goes on. Especially the ones with teeth! Let's move on, this place grows worse and worse." Sun says, walk towards the door with Pooka.
