Female Aasimar (Garuda-Blooded) Unchained Rogue 5 (Counterfit Mage/Bandit)[HP 50/50 | AC 17/15/12 | Fort +2, Ref +9, Will +5 | Init +9; Perception +12]
Based upon descriptions I took the liberty of moving people into the building. If I put you in a place you do not like then please adjust your positions.
To assist with Theater of the Mind difficulties, I built the relevant parts of the second floor. The walls around the Peryton are approximately 7 to 10 feet tall, and the door (black line) is shut. There is no LoS to the Peryton from outside the room without climbing on the debris on the second floor.
Remember, in the mill, the floor and stairs is all difficult terrain. Without having feats or other abilities, there is no charging, 5 ft. shifting, or other types of movement that are obstructed by difficult terrain.

Hi Guys. Work is insane right now, so though I'll keep up and post as needed, I won't be able to expand upon my actions for a couple of weeks.

I have to admit, I underestimated this thing. I did not expect it to be able to move AND attack in the surprise round. I am almost afraid to see what it can do with a full round action!
Alexander, I know you said stay back but if it can move that far and still do that amount of damage then I figure I won't be able to stay out of reach of it. If that is the case the best course of action I feel I can take with Kilarra is to do as much damage as possible. I apologize if that messes you up. If you wanted to throw some evocation on it I will remind you that I do have evasion and a pretty good reflex save.

Nah, it doesn't mess me up. It was just to keep you guys safe. ^^;
I'm really running low on spells for the day. I've got a Colour spray and Ray of Frost to throw at it, and I can recall one spell with my sword cane.
....
And I think I might better save that last one in case we meet the demon and I need to summon an outsider to fight it.

At the end of this book I am pretty sure I am going to do some rework to improve my AC. I seem to be targeted a lot and I just don't have the HP to tank it out.
If colorspray would work on this creature I sure would not mind being hit by it too. I will take my chances if you can stun and/or blind it for multiple rounds. Maybe you could angle it to miss me but if not then feel free to light me up too.
So the makers of the map are extra special. The "C9" to which Undrella is referring as the door that the key opens is the one on the ground floor at the north door to the battle market.

I just realized I've been screwing up on my dart crafting throughout the game. I've been doing them in bunches of five. Ammunition is normally crafted in bunches of 50.
So apparently I should have a lot of darts.
Rather than retcon things and say that I'm suddenly carrying around 150 darts or so, I'd rather just apply the cost and time of my previous three checks to making some masterwork darts.

Great. For now I'll take 10 on the Crafting more darts and worry about the Masterwork Component later.
I'm not even sure how the whole "masterwork component" thing would work with obsidian darts. Maybe a specially made grinding stone to get rid of the irregularities and bring them to a perfect balance? Grinding stones wear out, so it would still make sense that it would only be usable for 50 darts.
I think I would see it more as a meticulous time investment. Perhaps a carefully crafted knapping device that wears out. I am pretty sure that obsidian edges respond poorly to grinding.
Yeah, the time element would more a factor than tools. Most tools for working obsidian won't wear out in any kind of short time frame.
If you want to differentiate regular from masterwork I'd say "thinning" is the characteristic that would make the biggest difference in performance. A thinner projectile will be more aerodynamic, but also increases the risk of breakage. Several of the attempts will end up breaking during production. More thinning will mean more breakage.
If you want to look into the subject more here's a youtube page by a guy who's top notch on the subject:
Excellent input, Zhalet. Thinner also means sharper and an obsidian blade, properly knapped, is sharper than any surgical scalpel. So the "masterwork component" for obsidian darts would be more a matter of wasted material than a specific device or item.

Thanks for the information. Thinner makes sense. It would still have to be heavy enough to carry momentum. I guess it just means a much finer point/edge than the ones I make now.
I went with obsidian in the first place because it's cheap. I figured once we got to higher levels I'd switch over to Durable darts made of special materials like cold iron and silver. Maybe I'll just wait on masterwork until I make that change.
Masterwork darts that can't be recovered because they always break on impact seems like throwing money away.
In that case too much weight would probably be a bigger issue than not enough.
You'd need to use a core reduction technique (the way a knife or spearhead would be produced) to get what you're looking for. For this kind of knapping thinning would be mostly about reducing the midsection of the point. In cross section you'd want a less oval appearance by flattening the sides between the edges.
It's difficult to do right and yeah, produces a lot of broken points when the tip snaps off on you.
So I have started a game for a few of my RL friends, but they are not close by me. To facilitate this I have been learning to use Roll20. I am starting to like it enough that I want to see how you all would feel about switching to that for our maps and battles.

I could certainly give it a try, everyone says it's awesome.
About the forums, yeah, it's been wonky for a couple of days, not showing notifications and not giving access to 'My Campaigns' tab. I had to manually check every alias' last post :P

I second that. Not just in character but also as a reader I felt the tension. I thought to myself when I finished reading '...and mic drops to the floor. Dashki, you in trouble now...' It was great.

Guys, I want to say I am sorry for my sporadic participation. I am currently working 10-12 hours a day and taking online courses which amount to around 21 credit hours per semester at the same time on top of having to travel for work periodically. I am dong my best to interject when appropriate but for the foreseeable future, if you are having to wait on me then please just bot me. If this is a problem then I can back out of the group however this is not my preference. Thanks for your understanding.
