Mister Fixer's Sandbox Shadowrun Campaign. (4th Edition) Gameplay (Redux) (Inactive)

Game Master JTMC93

Set Dressing:

The meeting is taking place inside a private room in the back of a Club. The Club is just on the border of the Barrens. The Mr. Johnson is sitting before you. To either side facing toward the middle, which is where a basic clear plasteel table sits, are two couches large enough to seat everyone comfortably.

Mr. Johnson's Appearance:

She is a Human Woman around the age of 30 with short hair and glasses that block a clear view of her eyes. She is wearing a business suit without a Jacket clearly revealing her concealed holster and the Ares Predator it contains. Her coat is most likely the black trench coat hanging on the coat rack near the door.
Think Baroness from G.I. Joe: Renegades.

Job Background:

A fairly trustworthy Fixer associate of yours called you up and pointed you towards the job saying only that it would be a simple job with a large reward.

Mr. Johnson: "Welcome please have a seat. I am sure you are aware of the type of job you have been called for?"

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

Secerător tilts his head sideways. "Not at all..." He says with a european accent. "I vas told only that it vould be vorth my time to show up and listen to potentially lucrative job offer."

Mr. Johnson: "This is why I hate working with new fixers... Your job is simple. You are going to steal back a data drive a Ganger picked up off of a kill he done to prove himself to his gang and send the gang a message to pick their targets a bit more carefully in the future. Or if you would prefer you can wipe out the entire gang and help the authorities get rid of this thorn. It might even net you a some cash via the bounties on some of the members."

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

The elf with unkempt red hair and a nosy expression leans in closer at the promise of some old fashioned violence. Removing the toothpick she had been chewing for the last five minutes she speaks up "How wet would this message be? Not that I would pass up an opportunity to shoot up gangers, but the coppers seems to have a thing for mass slaughter..." She grins and attempts to brush aside some of her unruly hair threatening to temporary blind her - with moderate success. "I'll have to check up the wanted postings - perhaps the pigs finally started to accept them in slurry!"

Mr. Johnson: "This isn't an open posting and primarily reserved for Corporate Forces to take. The gang has been causing problems all over Seattle leaving their little Scrapyard in Puyallup to cause havoc, kill, and steal things. They are known as the Junkyard Dogs. Ah I almost forgot! Feel free to keep or sell whatever you recover from their hideout. Well save for the drive."

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

Secerător shrugs. "No issues vith that type of vet vork. Gangs that kill others not high on list of preservation." The dark skinned elf notes, although he is not bloodthirsty about it, like the redhead. "I am not, however, Corporate. Is this an issue?"

Mr. Johnson: "Not at all. I will help set up the bounty collection for you."

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

"The 'Junkyard Dogs'? And no corp slash copper interference - with bounty setup for free..." The elves voice trails off and her eyes darts around, chasing AR phantoms as she ran a search on the matrix. Well, she had certainly heard the name Junkyard Dogs before - but it was nothing she was overly familiar with. Luckily.

Running a Datasearch+Browse on Junkyard Dogs, also trying to leverage my Know(underworld) to see if she can recall anything about them:

Datasearch+Browse: 6d6 + 6d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 6, 4, 4) + (6, 5, 3, 5, 5, 6) = 56 8 hits - nice

Know(underworld): 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4, 5) = 15 and 1 hit here : )

With a wide grin, she found plenty of news articles on the gang, she stated. "Yeah. This is totally doable. I'm in. How 'bout you ?"

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

Secerător shrugs again. "Most likely." He pulls up a topographical map of the area around the gang's hideout, and then get's a publicly available topographical overlay from the city to show buildings. "Do you have a corporate topographical overlay of the area around their hideout?" He opens a one way port and does a very short range pulse of the maps he's already assembled, and begins to mentally add notes to the overlay, showing firing paths from various angles, and notating sniping positions from various directions.

Kn(Underworld): 6d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 3, 6, 2) = 22 One
Tactics: 6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 6, 4, 6) = 33 Aaand 5 there

Mr. Johnson: "Sorry but their are current no corporate presences near there."

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

Secerător snorts. "Vant to buy some fine farmland in the UCAS? Okeefenokee, great place to raise corn." He mutters, and sends an IM to a drop box account used by his military contact, to see if they can get a declassified topo map that's no more than 5 or 10 years old.

Mr. Johnson: "Trust me most Corporations refuse to get assets near there do to the populace that resides there."

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

The dark elf just rolls his eyes. "Vich means is perfect place to run off books tests on sinless, or recruit gangers for deniable attacks, or generate those stupid 'Vanna ve a Shdovrunner?' sims they like to turn into BTLs."

He locally broadcasts what he has, still waiting on the better mil-spec topo map, if he can get one. "Gang is here. These four buildings are good sniper spots, at least 8 stories tall, clear line of sight, all four either abandoned or veing used by indigents. I've put in most likely vectors gangers will respond from after the sniping starts. A few drones vith claymores lying in vait could put quite a dent in gang."

Hp 9/9; AC 21 / 11 / 20; (Init +1; Perc +3 Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +5)

True but i might also blast the drive into million pieces. First we need to identify the one currently carrying it then the rest is... less worry some should we say? he finish with a smile

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

"I've got some glue! ..." Redline chimes in and sighs. "Nah, you're probably right - our priority should be the safe retrieval of the drive, then mayhem!"

Hp 9/9; AC 21 / 11 / 20; (Init +1; Perc +3 Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +5)

my thoughts precisely

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

The elf shakes his head. "It is unlikely the commanders vould respond to the sniping themselves, they are more likely to send out underlings. At least the first time. Plus, drive unlikely to ve kept on person of underling, more likely to ve kept in safe place in hideout. If leaders leave with underlings, ve don't set off explosives, yah?"

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

The elf laughs, a hearty, bloodthirsty laughter. "If you can tell them drekheads apart I'm all in for exploding the everliving crap out of them!" Her eyes starts to dart around the room again, suggesting that she once more was distracted by AR - this time taking stock of her supplies. The wide grin revealing a maw full of pearly white teeth indicates that she is liking what she sees.

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

The dark elf laughs. "Hah! Is simple. One with shinyest most expensive gun is leader. Same for equipment. Ones with ratty equipment be flunkies."

Hp 9/9; AC 21 / 11 / 20; (Init +1; Perc +3 Fort +2, Ref +1, Will +5)

True but since the primary objective is the drive i would rather like to know where and who has it before exploding to pieces those who can answer or before it and its keeper goes underground

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

"Right, that is actually a good way to see it ..." The elf then ponders Bob's excellent point. If they did kill 'em all, and then didn't find what they were looking for - whey would be in heaps of trouble! But once more, there was an easy way out. Shrugging, the elf added in a nonchalant tone "We could just put something else in the drones. Like flashbangs or gas ... But nevertheless, you're right. Might wanna keep some of them alive for a while - at least until we get what we are paid for."

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

"I never said kill all of them. I do think, given our numerical ratio, we should hit hard first, and take out at least half the gang. Unless you really want to go up against gangers at 5 to 1 odds. Even if they aren't as well armed as we are, they only need to get lucky once. And if they get lucky with two of your drones, are you going to make money or lose money on this job?" He pointedly asks Redline.

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

"If we are talking luck, I'd be more worried about my face then my few toys ... But that reminds me - we haven't even started to talk payments yet! Besides, anyone found an add for pest control yet? Good to know how much their sorry existence is worth ..."

Note - Redline is primary a gunbunny and only rigger a distant second. She has a few recon drones, nothing that is going to bring down the house : )

Not to say she doesn't have anything else capable of flattening said house. But I need to brush up the barrier rules ... : )

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

The elf laughs. "Then again, at 5 to 1 odds, you vould vant to concern yourself vith the one lucky vreeder vhoo hits your face."

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

Redline shoots Dorjan her trademark deranged smile "I make it my business to be on the right side of any weight of bullets equation!"

Mr. Johnson: "It is in the possession of the gangs 'Hacker'. Well if you can call him that."

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

"'Explode everyone but the hacker'. Got it!"

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

"Do ve have picture of this hacker?"

Mr. Johnson: "All we know is he is an Elf that stays hidden in the Basement of the Gangs Headquarters."

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

The dark elf grins and slams his hand into the table. "So, ve blow up anyone outside their HQ, yah? As I suggested originally. Claymore!" He grins wolfishly. "If you can set up a few in line of sight of my sniper rifle, I can fire an explosive round to detonate them."

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

Redline twitches as the other elf slams his hand into the table. With a sideways glance at him she deftly conjures a credstick from one of her many pockets. "Sure, I'll think I might be able to set up something kaboomey. Might even have some in my stock! Otherwise - I know a guy - he would sell you a tank if you had the cash!" She coughs discreetly and taps the credstick at the table. "And while we are on the topic ... how high is the finders fee on this disk ? Youknow - so we can make a budget ..."

Mr. Johnson: She pulls out a Silver Credstick for each of you and they are fully loaded.

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

Redlines wide grin returns in a heartbeat when she sees the credstick. "Shiny! I'm sure I could level a gang with that ... Is this a half now half later deal ?" she asks as she nabs her credstick.

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

Slow brain here, still recovering. Fully loaded with how much?

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

IIRC Silver credsticks are fully loaded at 20k nuyen.

That is correct. at least last I checked.

Mr. Johnson: "That is the full payment. At least for the gang's destruction. The disc will be paid for once delivered."

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

The dark elf nods. "If I read this correctly, this is a DMZ or near DMZ. So there should be no issues with Lone Star or other private security in the area." He looks up at Redline and the others. "Anyone have any information that contradicts that assessment?"

GM could correct me as well if that's not what my research (and memory) finds.

More of a worthless location to the Corps so they ignore it and no one is willing, or able, to pay for a PSC(Private Security Contractor) than it is a DMZ.

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

"Understood" The elf nods. 20k? Pretty good - as long as we keep the hospital bill down ... heh. She looks up at Dorjan and shakes her head. "Nah - It's nowhere as far as anyone with money is concerned. We might have to worry about a token patrol car or something if we are too obvious, but they shouldn't be on the scene until this whole party has long since unfolded."

Mr. Johnson: "I doubt you will even have to worry about the token patrol in that area. More apt to run into a Corporate Interest that is keeping off the grid than that. Heck there apparently is an old vacant Half-Way house made out of an old office building nearby the location that has more threats. Apparently we just discovered a Yakuza Group set-up shop there in the late 50s for a BTL Den and got taken out by some woman with a cyberized left arm. They had Hellhounds and apparently the hounds have made that place a den and feed on any unfortunate soul that wonders to close."

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

"Very good, I'll note that is a building that is a good sniper spot, assuming someone can arrange to drop me on it from above a day or two ahead of time at night." The dark elf grins. "Nothing like having a few dozen hell hounds as guardians." He begins checking the indicated building, looking for firing lines. "I'll see if my go to man can charter me a flight over the area a day before we start, I can drop in on the building. Can you use a few of your drones to to do a recon of that office building? Make sure the roof is secure from the hell hounds? And stable enough for someone to land on it?" He asks Redline.

Mr. Johnson: "Or you could win them over with some meat. Apparently they love Zebra Meat. Our spy used a bunch of it to get through the building and win them over. Well at least temporarily. Apparently he kicked one of the puppies wanting attention and got mauled. We counted at least 5 distinct adults just from the small time our commcall was connected. Oh and if you have an awakened... Well they like anyone with an awakened aura. I was worried for revealing this as we are wanting to look deeper into them as a potential source for security but maybe we can make a deal if you befriend them."

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

Redline leans back in her chair, pondering. "Youknow - I do believe I've got just the pair. I've got an aerial recon and a smaller wall-climber. I'll could arrange for a quick flyby tonight, get some up-to-date pics and drop the climber off for some internal shots. But I'll have to ask -" she looks to Bob and Dorjan "Anyone knows if Hellhounds can pick up drones in a non-visual way ? The climber relies on his size and chameleon-coating and I rather not have it turned into a chew-toy just because those dam dogs can smell it or whatever!"

Drones in question:

Redline will share their specs if anyone (in the team) asks. Note they are both highly customized and modified compared to stock versions.

Where are the Bust-A-Moves at I lost them and can't find them now... Also is everyone still alive. I expected at least someone to pop in with something at least to the hellhounds. Sorry for this late of a reply. Been messing around finding stuff for 4E and forgot to post in this thread...

HP 10/10 Stun 10/10|Initiative 15 (3)|Ballistic Impact|Defence 14 Gymnastic Dodge 24|Composure 6 Judge 6 Lift/Carry 7 Memory 8|Perception 4 +3 Sight

Bust-A-Moves is in Arsenal, can't give you a page since I'm at my parents house for the weekend (no books : /)

And I think the plan is to recon the building first and see if the roof is secure/can be secured and then pray the hellhounds doesn't manage to get up anyway ^^

Think you guys would have gotten a kick out of me reading my notes. It was like the cliched map reading scenario. The are all jumbled up. Especially on that building.

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

As long as it's just Hellhounds and not Gazebos, I'm fine. But yeah, I was waiting for the GM to return from the great beyond. :) Not much Dorjan can do until we have a scout of the building. Actually a good recon of the whole area done at night with the flying drone would be even better.

Gazebos? And give me a little bit more time to get everything completely understood. And that is a bad joke given how I feel right now.

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

-5000 Geek Cred for the GM for not knowing The Tale of Erik and the Dread Gazebo

In my defense it does sorta pre-date me. I have heard something like it before but that was when I was 6. Seems like it pre-dates me by 8 Years...
