"Now that is a worry I can get behind"

"Fridge?" Smiles says on the way out. Once he sees the buss his eyes widen. "Wow...epic. I haven't ridden on a buss sense that time I hitch hiked to Rainbow. We ever get to the point we consider eachother people I'll tell you about that." Smiles makes sure to wipe his feat before boarding the buss.

On the ride to the 'fancy HQ' he gets comfy in a seat, buckled in, and projects into the astral. He keeps up with the buss, mostly keeping an eye out for astral tails following him and the black fuzzy elf, but periodically peaking back into the buss to check in on his body.
Perception Check
9d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 3, 5, 5, 4, 5, 3) = 38 4 hits
If applicable (he notices anything paying undo attention to the buss)...
Assensing Check
8d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 5, 2, 2, 6, 4) = 30 3 hits

Assuming all goes well on the ride out...

In the true HQ Smiles listens to the others speak about fishiness, bonuses, and apocalyptic explosions.

"Not to say the extra money is irrelevant, but Lyst here makes a few good points. I don't know enough about munitions to be confident going in and judging then and there if we should detonate it all and hope we live through it. My vote is for doing the data steal only. As has been mentioned, there's enough unknowns in that bit alone."

"Before we get too far along in this I'd like to get our squishy little eyeballs on this place. Seemed like one or two of you big burly macho types mentioned being something of a long-arm type. So maybe me and whoever that was could go take a peak, one through a scope or whatever, and me through the astral."

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

Dorjan raises a hand half-heartedly when long guns are asked about. "That was me. And, I think we should do some strictly non-meat recon first. Lyst, you bragged you were all that and a box of donuts at a Lone Star convention in the matrix, right? Well how about a recon on the matrix, find out everything you can about this place, including a map of the area. I don't want to even set foot within a mile without knowing what the topgraphical survey is, what the geological survey says about the fault lines in the area, and what Madame Grigi says about the place's horoscope. Once we've learned everything we can from the matrix, then we move on to long distance recon. Plus, I think all of us are going to need to contact a few contacts, neh? At the very least, if we decide to go non-wetwork, then I need to order some plastic rounds for the rifle. Plus, some stun guns or DMSO squirters would be worthwile." He looks back to smiles. "Spirits? Stun spells?"

"Yeah both of those sound great. Oh, like can I do them? I can try the whole spirit thing, and there's a really good chance something will come. There's even a halfassed chance whatever does come wont try to kill me. On the upside, if it does I can totally beat the hell out of it. As for stun spells...I mostly turn invisible and walk past people, and on the off chance that doesn't work I make them run around screaming until they shoot themselves or fall and hit their head. On the really off chance NONE of that works out I throw grenades and run around screaming myself. Hey, speaking of which I've got some stun grenades! Think that would help?

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

Dorjan rubs his temples. "Yes, I believe that would be better than any of the other options you gave. Stun grenades, gas grenades. You go invisible, walk up and toss them. Hopefully they won't notice you and frag you before you can throw them."

GM:

While talking to everyone else, he mentally calls Sally on his internal commlink. Whether it's her, or her voicemail, he gives the same speech. "Hoy Sally, Dorj here. I love those metal tongs you got me last month, they're working great. Look, I have a party coming up, and I don't want to waste the good stuff on the clods that will be showing up. Do you have some plastic tongs, same size, as the metal ones you got me?"

Male

"Matrix prying is what got me pinched. Haven't been out long and not keen on going back. But I'll certainly give it a shot. Nothing illegal until we're ready to act though. We don't want to throw up any red flags."
Lyst pauses, looking for something alcoholic. Once found, he continues. "Consequently, my old contacts have been a bit scarce since I got out. My corporate friends didn't approve of my hobbies, and I guess the old gang is worried I'll rat them out. So I'll be flying this one solo."
He takes a drink, then realizes what he said. "-with you all of course."

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

Dorjan looks at Lyst. "You really do need to take some social classes at the community college, or get one of those Professor McTroll's 'How to make Fraggers Like Youse!' courses." He shakes his head. "Anyway, wasn't expecting you to do anything illegal, everything we want should be available in public records. Most illegal thing you'll want to do is spoof who you are, and request everything in the area to hide what you're looking for. For that matter, once we know the general layout of the area from the public maps and such, you can do the public records pull centered on a juicy target X miles from our real target, and just pull in everything X+10 miles from it, making it look like we're researching a different target."

I was thinking of something while on the ride coming here. Since e are on the subject of doing some research i would like to request from our computer specialise all the financial and other documents info he can find on the corpo and its dealings with the army and also any info he can find about the different contracts they have with the army and if there are any army base around here along with names and such.

he turn to stag Stag i strongly disagree sometimes if you do too much damage or kill to many people Corporation will come after you in order to retaliate. Its a matter of not being perceived as weak by other corps

Addressing 'Bobs' concern "Yeah - if the facility you blow up is in downtown Seattle they have no choice but to try and fry your sorry ass. But this is an in the middle of nowhere research lab we are talking about! In my experience they usually try to just quiet down those - and sending strike teams at runners or poking around tends to have the opposite effect." He shakes his head "Not that it matters - besides I've never hit real military contractors, the might be pissier then your average corp - the general consensus seems to be to avoid a big boom. And since we have noone with enough experience with whatever ordinance they are packing I'll have to get behind it - I prefer to avoid getting caught in a chemical drekstorm just for a few nuyen extra..."

Smiling at Lyst he adds in a half serious manner "Try bringing them cake and brandy - cheapest way to mend fences..."

@Dorjan - you probably want either gel-rounds or stick n shock for non-lethal, plastic rounds kill you almost as good as metal ones. Plastic rounds are easier to get through scanners however. There are also subsonic rounds - they are harder to hear, but like plastic they are still lethal. :)

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

On the road, so didn't have access to my books. In 3rd, plastics were non-lethal. Also, you're reading spoilers and cheating, bad Stag! :)

Not fallen that far yet :P. Dorjan said "if we decide to go non-wetwork, then I need to order some plastic rounds for the rifle". Though it was better to illuminate you on their use before you bought any and put them in the skull of some hapless guard ^^ Haven't played 3rd ed, so I didn't know they used to be non-lethal : ) (I have, however, googled your name .P Stag is just itching for a private moment to do a datasearch himself - not often one (maybe?) get to meet a fellow out of the old world!)

Male

Plastic rounds also take range penalties, so not great for sniping. They are, however, great for my Morrisey Elan.

"Mmmm...cake. Speaking of which..." Smiles pulls out his phone and starts hitting buttons.

GM:

Realizing he misspoke earlier Smiles is going to get his comlink and send a text/email to his info broker.

Hey Beth, hows things hangin? I got a job, some bachelorette party thing. When working out the details with the lady I was showing her my baloon trick and got a little light headed, so when we got going over details I made a mistake. On the subject of stunnies vs flashies, how hard would it be to get some stunnies tonight/tomorrow? We're still going over a time table but you never know whith these first time wive types. Sooner would be better than later.

Male

"Let's meet back at noon tomorrow with intel we've gathered from astral, eyes, matrix, and contacts. We'll pool our information and formulate our plan."

How about we open the data file that Mr Fixer gave us first?

"We should atleast look around for the promised presents. Might be some useful gear - and I have my de-tagger in the car - some fixers feel an smothering need to keep tabs on their runners. Otherwise meeting here at noon tomorrow seems like a fine plan - not that I know anyone in the military contractor business, but I'll see what I can dig up."

Male

"I can't disagree with that. Let's have a look around, shall we?"

The building is a small office building converted into a apartment with private rooms & baths for each of you. It has a living, dining, and kitchen area set-up in an open floor plan. It is very basic & Spartan. Upon inspection you will find the exterior larger than the interior. With the shortened area being near an oddly placed bookcase. The compound also contains a large warehouse converted into a Garage.

"Hmm, probably a secret door behind these bookshelves, given the issue with the size of the place, but I can't seem to find the opening. Anyone else good at this type of thing?"

GM, can we get a picture of the layout of the area around the target, 5000 ft high view? And more info on the target company from the matrix runs people did.

Currently working on it. Spent most of this time making some excel maps only for excel to save them to a temporary folder that gets deleted every hour. Freaking Gremlins trait... BTW - A hint to the door: It is a combination lock.

Stag takes a quick run to his car to fetch the Tag Eraser (one can never be too careful!) and joins up with Lyst and Dorjan in looking for goodies. He also keeps an eye out for any other surprises left, like surveillance cameras or other bugs. Before they enter (hopefully out of range of any audio monitoring devices) he drops a comment:

"It's quite impressive that he loaned us a hideout. Either he has more money then sense, big plans or likes to keeps his pets in a box where he can find them" or do something worse. But we'll see...

Noticing the bookshelf Stag moves up and gives them a contemplative stare. After a few seconds he starts to examine the books themselves. "In the trids - there is always a certain book, or combination of books that you pull out to open these. Lets see which are real books and which are levers, if any"

Male

Before tomorrow at noon, Lyst will spend some time searching the matrix for information about and surrounding the complex.

@Stag:

Every book you pull is a real book. It would appear upon inspection via the matrix or just observation that the books all have special RFID Chips that will trigger something based on certain criteria. That criteria is not obvious though.

I will add the information you guys find to the Google Doc as soon as I can get the Word Doc to load from my backup...

Basic Version:

-They care more about Extractions than Data Steals and are suspected of having extra redundant backup systems.
-They use Standardized layouts for each facility based on that facilities uses.
-The layouts are unknown because most runs against them were attempted during the day for extractions. The only successful run was against a Transport Depot to steal an experimental weapon at nights. This is how we know their security patterns.
-The company is known to produce knockoff weapons under their own names.

Male Elf Face

@Mister Fixer:
Did Mister Fixer just ignore my attempt to negotiate or did it get lost in all the other posts?

Once the meeting with Mister Fixer was concluded Peck followed the others out and collected his bike, following the bus to the provided location. He will help with the search and cataloging off the building, making small talk with the others as they work.

He is paying this job and will not give anymore cash for it.

Smiles walks around the HQ whistling tunelessly and periodically (some might call it obsessively) checking his comlink for a return message. When he notices the bookshelf thing, or he notices everyone else notice the bookshelf thing, he'll make his way over and take a look at book shelf, noting titles and types (hard back, soft back, fiction or non) trying to find some sort of pattern.

"Crazy, are these actual paper? Would one of you guys get my pic holding one of these looking all scholarly?"

GM:

Earlier Smiles said he had stun grenades and it turns out I picked up flash grenades when I was making the character instead. Earlier I put up a spoiler of him sending a message to his Info Broker contact seeing if she could get any on short notice. Very likely not the right person to talk to, but it's probably better than the street performer :), so I figured I'd give it a shot. Just giving you a reminder as I imagine the original spoiler got lost in the shuffle when you had computer issues.

Male Romanian Night One (Elf) Wired Adept

Hint really doesn't do us any good unless we have more to go on than 'it's a book shelf with a combination lock'. Is it an obvious dial? A keypad? Pull the books off in the right order, what?

Dorjan looks over the bookshelf, tugs on a few books at random, then shrugs. "If I wanted to play 'guess that whacky fixer's game' I'd have applied to be on a gameshow. If someone doesn't know how to open it, I suggest we leave it or blow it up." He shrugs, and then fires off messages to his contacts for information about the target.

Nothing to post until the GM comes back with more info and maps

"Yepp - actual paper. Haven't seen this in a while." Running a quick scan with his commlink indicates multiple rfid tags in the books. "They are tagged. Maybe that's how it's supposed to work?"

Bob return a few hours later with a different set of cloth and a metallic suitcase

DM:
Bob will spent 1 hour in close to the hideout in order to see if there anyone else doing surveillance on it.
