Marhok |
Well that's a cowardly thing to do...
Don't think Marhok can do anything to help him, grabbing a potion (if I still have one) is a move action and a full-round action to administer.
"Anevia, Arvanshnial! Do you have any healing items with you? Edric's hurt bad." Marhok calls out as he rushes to Edric's side and holds him close.
Fort Save Edric: 1d20 + 4 - 12 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 12 = 1
untrained Heal check Marhok vs DC 15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Marhok |
Reflex Save Marhok: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Marhok catches the potion and quickly pulls the stopper from it with his teeth and pours the liquid down Edric's throat.
"Live dammit! Live! You're not yet done here, you're not done!"
MiniGM |
so he should be dead...but in my other game I give you that extra HP so I will here, but I do think that almost death IE -13 with a 13 Con should have a result. He will have a physical disability of come sort, until a Regeneration can be cast on him...so for several levels most likely...or he can die and you will have to recruit a new follower when you find the resistance. Which sounds better to you?
MiniGM |
i figured...but sometimes you meet gamers that totally are not down. The first problem player i had in Jade Regent was a paladin that went WAAAAY against his gods code, I wasn't going to have him fall, but told him for the rest of the level he would be sickened as a sign of his god being pissed. I thought a fair compromise, considering the paladin of a god of protection offered to sacrifice a child that asked him for protection. The player quit instead.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Marhok pours the potion down Edric's throat and his breathing stabilizes and the wounds top bleeding.
Marhok |
I'd hope the brothers and sisters of Arvanshnial can take care of Edric, as in this state he's not fit to travel.
Marhok breathes a sigh of relief as he sees Edric's wounds close and his breathing becoming more stable.
"Thank you Arvanshnial and Anevia. I don't know what I would have done if I lost Edric. He's been my good friend and companion for several years now. I don't know what I would have done without him."
Marhok stands up and looks for any signs of more enemies and grunts softly. "Scumbags. Wait till I get my hands on them. I'll wring their necks."
"Arvanshnial? Can we still find some help of the Library in this state?"
Marhok |
"I'm happy to help. Though I'm afraid my friend and healer got taken out in the fight. I'd take a closer look to that wound of yours if I were any better healer. If you've got some healing aid in here we could bring him back to consciousness and he could see to all our wounds."
Marhok stands up from Edric's side and pciks him up slowly so he carries him with him to the new faces amidst the Blackwing Library.
"What were those looters up to here if I might ask?"
Marhok |
Marhok cradles Edric's body in one arm and grasps his sword from his back.
As he walks past the bleeding man he plunges his sword into his stomach and twists it without hesitation.
You want me to roll dice for it?
MiniGM |
I shall stay here to help them, but I will, we will stand with you in the defense. Arvan says
Fenna and the other librarians thank
the PCs profusely for saving them; they can point out the
spellbook to the PCs and give it to them as a reward for the
rescue. The librarians can also tell the PCs that Blackwing
was destroyed by a horrific abomination-a man made of
worms who used magic and enslaved demons to smash the
structure down. They suspect that the worm took several
treasures from the ruins before he left, but are unsure what
specifically he took. They such see no reason to keep the
secret that this location was a Riftwarden stronghold, since
they know that all the Riftwardens who were stationed here
are dead. They do know that the head librarian, a man named
Quednys Orlun, was up near the Cathedral of Saint Clydwell
at the time of the disaster. They haven't heard from him
since, but there's a chance he may still be alive. The librarians
would rather remain here for now to guard the remaining
books-the main hall is a strong and safe place as long as
they don't open the doors for anyone else. Once the PCs make
contact with Quednys at Defender's Heart, he takes action
to ensure the librarians are relocated there. Until then, this
location can become a safe place for the PCs to rest.
one of the books stacked in the ring surrounding
the librarians is a damaged wizard's spellbook. The few
legible remaining pages contain the following spells: alarm,
dismissal, dispel ma.!Jic, ma.!Jic circle aJJainst chaos, resist ener.!Jy,
and versatile weaponAPc. The spellbook is worth 700 gp. In
addition, a parchment scroll of dimensional lock is folded up
and tucked into the book's pages
Marhok |
Marhok gathers the loot from the fallen body and clasps Arvanshnial on the shoulder.
"I'd like to ask you one last favour. Can you identify these potions for me? If they are any healing potions among them it would do us a great service."
Marhok |
Marhok sets himself on the ground and pours Edric the two cure potions, hoping to get his friend all better for now and they could rest and heal up in here.
CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6 Oh come on
MiniGM |
Significant color comes back to his cheeks and he breathes easily but he is still out. The librarians check on him.
He needs time and rest. He can stay here, but we are not really equipped to deal with him, considering the damage to the place.
Anevia speaks up. If my love still lives, I know she is leading a resistance...they will have supplies.
Marhok |
Marhok will deliver Anevia to her house first as that looks to him like the least troublesome job to do.
Uh-oh?: 1d100 ⇒ 15
MiniGM |
Anevia leads Marhok to a small cache of supplies. Inside she pulls some arrows, and another potion, and a scroll of something called Masterwork Transformation, and a potion of Barkskin
I don't know if it makes more sense for you or Edric to take this. He might not awaken, and if we are attacked your wounds seem serious.
Marhok |
Assuming it's another CLW
"That makes a lot of sense, no use in me going down trying to rescue him when he's relatively safe and I'm not."
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Back to 17 I believe
"That fighter was pretty good, more or less because he made moves I did not anticipate. It became hard to swing and hit him."
Marhok looks at the potion of Barkskin and decides not to use it straight away, it might be handy for later usage.
Marhok |
Marhok takes the lead of course, holding his ranseur out in front of him in a defensive stance, walking slowly around the apparent abandoned house.
"Perhaps she's out?", Marhok asks Anevia as they go about the house, "Why else would she lock the door if she's not here?"
Marhok |
How far away did it appear and would it normally prvoke AoO's?
"Damn bugs, how did it get in here?"
Marhok swings the ranseur for an empowered thrust into the creature's carapace, then strikes it with full force.
Attack, Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 102d4 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 + 3 = 11
Marhok |
Marhok moves into a flanking position with Anevia and stabs at the creature yet again.
Attack, Power Attack, Flank: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 = 192d4 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 + 3 = 13
Marhok |
Marhok approaches the new creature and stabs it from 10 feet away.
Attack, Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 132d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 + 3 = 17
Marhok |
"Hmm... What was that all about? Be careful Anevia."
Marhok wanders around the house checking the room where the creatures were closest to as the first one.
Marhok |
"Bloody hell, since when did you have an infestation problem?"
Marhok says before stabbing at the next creature to assault the pair.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 92d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 + 3 = 15
Marhok |
"Ok, can you take care of these beetles, there's something wrong about this. Somebody or something is conjuring up these things."
If there's a room where those beetles come from, Marhok is gonna check that out.
Before he heads out to anywhere Marhok takes a quick look around and tries to see what mgiht have triggered those beetles to appear.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Marhok |
"Must be some sort of defensive measure. Anevia you're looking none too good yourself, either go out or stay behind me. Don't linger here those beetles might bite you one time too many."
So they're not coming out of a room, no visible casters or trap triggers to be seen. Could become a long night of squish the bugs.
Marhok readies an attack for the next beetle to come close to them.
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 92d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 + 3 = 17
Marhok |
"Oh no you didn't just do that!" Marhok bellows as his eyes narrow in on the mage and his muscles bulge.
He charges towards the mage, drawing his greatsword as he goes and plunges the blade deep into his flesh.
Attack Greatsword, Power Attack, Rage, Charge: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 282d6 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (6, 3) + 9 + 3 = 21
Edit: Charging doesn't provoke AoOs so I'm safe for that, my AC is 13 though till next round.
Marhok |
It does, it's an untyped penalty. So it's a hit
Marhok 5 steps towards the mage and swings the greatsword at him again.
Attack Greatsword, Power Attack, Rage: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 = 192d6 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 9 + 3 = 17
