"Ghosts dont eat candy... we should go back i mean we killed most of the bandits right? We cant have return business if we wipe them all out?"
He at one point paused to ask the others. He would continue forward some this time a bit slower definitely checking for traps and the like much slower than he needed to.... trembling slightly.
Nic "One-Ear" Rockborn |
Nic stomps over to the shivering knight, he takes a deep drawl on his cigar and the amber pops, he exhales and the bluish smoke wafts up into the torches glow. "Here...you jus' hold this torch and breath in the guudness of the goddess of light, the almighty Iomedae, she will settle yer nerves. Jus' hold the torch." His voice is soothing as he tries to take the edge off and get someone else to hold the damn torch.
diplo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
"me eyes are the best here, I can get in front to check out that moaning sound." He offers to Thorin and Reknar
Galen Goodfellow |
Anxious about the haunted moaning, Galen can only nod his head in agreement as the aromatic dwarf hands him the torch and stomps off to investigate.
Trying to regain his composure, the cavalier breathes deeply, and exhales slowly, trying to slow down his beating heart.
MiniGM |
1d20 ⇒ 5
Alex begins to shiver and shake at the sounds
Galen and Alex are shaken until further notice
Our heroes continue down the path, again it is strangely straight and clear. After another 50 feet and 2 turns our heroes come to a closed gate. It has a lock on it.
Everyone please make me a perception check, note this is NOT a check for the gate if you want to look at that that is the SECOND check that you roll
Reknar |
Reknar moves after Nic to make sure he is protected - "Stand close" - he grunts at Galen and Thorin - "They're just trying to scare us away"
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Galen Goodfellow |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Galen cautiously follows the others, holding the torch aloft. When he sees the gate, he says "Well, looks this way is blocked. Guess we should go back. Being outside again would be nice..."
He does stay close per Reknar's instructions, but can't help from looking around nervously as the ghost sounds continue to bother him.
I'm not going to beat Nic's Perception rolls while shaken, so will just defer
Thorin O'Connel |
perception: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 2 = 23
gate: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 2 = 7
He certainly wasnt one to argue the idea of being close at the moment, whatever strange things were afoot here he was tempted to let stay afoot.
"Given a spot of time i can get that g..gate open."
He began outloud his hands shaking a bit at he thought
Alexandra Beatrix |
Alex wimpers quietly, and then coughs to cover it up.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Perception2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Nic "One-Ear" Rockborn |
"Thorin give the door a guud yank and get us through it, I'll lead if you need t'catch your breath a bit." Attempting to softly (at least for a drawf) alleviate Thorin, Galen, and Alexandra's concerns. He grips his morning star a bit tighter and mumbles, "Ready."
Alexandra Beatrix |
Aw, soup. Alexandra mutters. That can't be good.
The soup thing came from a friend. He meant to say dang it and for some reason the world may never know, he yelled soup. Something about it works so I use it now.
Alexandra Beatrix |
Or maybe one of you big, strong men could break it down. Alexandra said, smiling sweetly.
Galen Goodfellow |
"Huh-What?" says Galen, who has been glancing around nervously as the ghost sounds continue. "Not sure I want to see what's making those noises, but if you want, I could give it a try." He strains at the gate, pulling for all he's worth.
If we have exhausted all other avenues, Galen will brute force the door. If Thorin wants to try the lock or someone has another plan, this can come after that if needed
Galen Str, shaken: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 2 = 14
Thorin O'Connel |
str: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 2 = 20
'Strong men huh? I wonder if she likes strong men.'
He wondered as he moved to help Galen with the gate. He would certainly have more leverage than the dwarf.
"Huuurgh"
He grunted as he grabbed a hold and helped
'flex'
Nic "One-Ear" Rockborn |
As the Galen and Thorin attempt to muscle their way through the lock, Nic stands ready to push through the door. Eager to find the source of the noise. Could be zombies moanin'. A bead of sweat appears on his heavy brow.
Galen Goodfellow |
Galen waits for the rest of the group to squeeze through the hole in the gate. Once everyone is through, he tries to fit himself, in full armor and shield, moving slowly and squeezing as best he can.
Escape Artist check while shaken, taking 20, is still just a 15. Don't know if that's enough or not.
Thorin O'Connel |
"Now that is just rude!"
He called out as he took a hold of his crossbow and pulled up to take aim.
If Thorin can see anyone to fire at
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
If he can not see anyone to fire at.
"Such jerkish bandits, dont they know they are the bad guys and are supposed to lose?"
He began hobbling behind Galen. Let the guy with the armor be the target and all.
Galen Goodfellow |
Once squeezed through the gate, Galen stands at the fore in case more bolts come their way, shield ready. He peers into the darkness ahead, trying to make out where the shots came from.
"It seems we may be on the right track," he says, even though the ghostly noise still bothers him.
Galen Goodfellow |
Galen suggests he move out in front as his armored shell and shield should give the best protection if more crossbow bolts come their way. Unless there is dissent he moves out down the dark passage.
Are the ghostly sounds continuing?
Nic "One-Ear" Rockborn |
Nic shuffles along staying within 5 ft of Galen and his shield, just in case there is another wayward cross bolt. he chews on the backside of his cigar, then his stomach grumbles loudly, breaking the group's attempt at silence. "I'm 'ungry," he mumbles.
Galen Goodfellow |
Moving along the hallway, Galen holds the torch in one hand, and his sword in the other, keeping the shield on his back as they move through the darkness. He pushes forward cautiously, but consistently.
I don't have any trapfinding etc, and my perception is only +1. If there are issues ahead he'll just have to absorb it. I get the mental image of the party all crushed up behind Galen like in an old Scooby-Doo cartoon...
MiniGM |
Grumbling, chewing and clanking-ly our heroes make their way down the path, deeper and deeper into the cave complex. The ghostly noises come and go, sporadically, eventually, when all the candy is gone, you come to yet another closed door, this one seems to be solid oak. There is a sign painted in red on it.
KEEP OUT!!! APPROVED PERSONEL ONLY!
Galen Goodfellow |
Galen steps aside allowing Thorin to examine the door and perhaps pick the lock, if necessary. He continues to look around nervously as the ghostly sounds continue to keep him shaken up. "Approved personnel?" the cavalier asks looking at the others. "That can't mean us. I think its fine if we proceed."
